Morning all.
We’d just beaten Atletico Madrid 1-0 in the second leg of the Champions League semi-final. One of the players on the pitch that night was Ben White, our right back who has been little short of great for us since moving from Brighton. Horrid injuries, ones which seem to have taken an age to recover from have hampered his last year or so but behind all of that, there’s a very good right back who when together with Martin Odegaard and Bukayo Saka on the pitch, can cause havoc for defenders. You’ve probably already seen Arsenal’s social media pages but if not, Ben White has told us that he’s fit and his knee is good which should be music to every Arsenal fans ears ahead of a new campaign. He’s either fit to stay and play a big part of this coming season, or if he’s itching for a new start somewhere else then at least he should attract a lot of interest from other clubs. Personally, I’d rather he stayed but hey, I’m a softie.
Other good news is that Jurrien Timber isn’t far from being 100% too. Soon he said when asked about a return. Others spotted making their return to the club for pre-season training was Riccardo Calafiori, Myles Lewis-Skelly, Cristhian Mosquera, Reiss Nelson and Gabriel Jesus.

It’ll be a while before we see any of our players who have been on international duty this summer which is a concern of course as the new season kicks off in exactly a months time but it’s not just Arsenal who are going to suffer because of the World Cup. The latest to return are going to be William Saliba and both England and Spain players. As said before though, a number of our players who were involved in the final weekend of fixtures, didn’t play a lot of minutes. Saliba and Declan Rice are the ones we all worry about I’m sure.
I read something on Twitter this morning from Fabrizio Romano, yes, I like to make it clear that I’m not taking his words before making out they are mine, but he says that Arsenal’s transfer plans are firmly in place and there are no signs of the club slowing down. I must admit, I found that that amusing bearing in mind the club have hardly got going yet this summer but anyway, there’s a plan and the club are sticking to it.
We might not like the fact that Arsenal move slower than a tortoise but it’s Arsenal, it’s their way. I know I mentioned this earlier but Bournemouth midfielder Alex Scott has just rejected the offer of a new contract on the south coast according to Sky Sports. Could he be the midfielder Arsenal are trying to sign I wonder as it’s not like his name and Arsenal FC haven’t been mentioned in the same sentence a few times before this summer. Watch this space I guess….
In other gossip, Arsenal are ready to go head-to-head with Manchester United for Roma midfielder Manu Kone, according to L’Equipe.
The Athletic report that Chelsea are interested in John Stones. If they sign him, I’m sure we’ll be reading “Arsenal gazumped again by Chelsea”.
Catch up in the comments.

I see that Fabio Vieira is back in training, with no sign of moving him on,I suspect out of him Nelson and Jesus at least two will leave by deadline day, even if on loan.
Sporting that is.
Sorting and Porto may have a shout in that but I am sure that JM is probably the one to comment on that
I see that Benfica, the kings of Portuguese football, are interested in Reiss Nelson, the Eagles of Lisboa are managed by Marco Silva who had Nelson at Fulham last season.
With Marco Silva in charge Benfica look set to dominate Portuguese football for the foreseeable future…
That’s a relief Kev 😜
Al Hilal ‘agree £68.2m Summerville deal’Saudi side Al Hilal have agreed a deal worth €80m (£68.2m) to sign West Ham winger Crysencio Summerville, reports The Athletic.
The 24-year-old Dutch forward joined the Hammers from Leeds for £25m in the summer of 2024 and scored eight goals in 56 games for the club but was unable to help them avoid relegation to the Championship last season.
Right-footed, good in the air, probably can play right-back?

Nice words from Upson junior
No Rico, Samuel L 😂
I saw the Jon Martin Kev. Young Spaniard isn’t he, Real Sociedad..
Colin Kev? Lol
Elijah Upson expressed his pride in signing for Arsenal on professional terms ahead of the 2026/27 season.
The 18-year-old central defender joins us as the new season gets underway, following in the footsteps of his father Matthew, who also joined us when he was 18 in 1997.”
It’s a great feeling, really proud to be here,” Elijah said after signing his contract, “[it’s] really nice to have all my family and everyone around it, it’s been a great experience.
“My dad signed here around the same time as me, it’s great to have someone with a good experience of the place. But at the same time, I’m definitely looking forward to building my own reputation and getting started.
“When I met the guys here recently and met all the team and staff, it just seemed like a really nice environment. That was probably the biggest factor, an environment where you feel you can hopefully learn and get better as a person.”
Elijah is a powerful centre-back, defending his own penalty area from the first minute to the last, as well as posing a threat in the opposition box.
“Aerially, I’m quite good, it’s definitely a strength of mine. Obviously, I’m a defender, but if I can take that into an attacking side of things, then that’s also really good and an area I can use that quality as well.
“I’d [also] say I’ve definitely worked hard in terms of my passing range and having a good, longer passing range. I’d say that could be a good strength of mine; I’m looking forward to making those qualities better.”
You don’t fancy Jackson then Rico?
No more ex Chelsea players please…
I guess we’ve gotta start looking at the Chelsea squad/regiment and begin to think about who we’re going to pick up from them and then give them a proper football career?
we’ll do
I reckon we’ll quite a bit of business after the season kicks off…
The rumour that interested me most’ist outside of the usual high profile defender links was a 20 year old Spaniard, name if I recall was Jon Martin?
Maybe sign another right-back and play Ben White at centre-back so he isn’t charging up and down the wing, just a thought?
So expect England to have to play in Uruguay or Paraguay on a Sunday before jetting back to play Uganda or Sierra Leon in Morocco on a Tuesday.
Meanwhile Argentina will play all of their group matches in Argentina
2030 World Cup set to take place across six different host nations; Morocco, Spain and Portugal won the bid to host the tournament, but centenary games will take place in Uruguay, Paraguay and Argentina; FIFA could increase the tournament from 48 teams to 64 . Pity whoever gets the opening game in Buenos Aires
The 2030 World Cup will be expanded to 64 teams according to the president of the South American football confederation according to The Telegraph.
How ridiculous..
Me too Cicero..
I think so too re Saliba and finding a temporary fix. Also, don’t they usually try and miss paying new players for an extra month. 😂
I sincerely hope that Ben White stays, he’s as good a defender as Timber and a better wing back.
Stones is competent player that has played at a high level but he is 32 years old and we are likely to offer two years where Chelsea will probably offer 4 .
The delay is because I am sure that Arsenal will want to see the extent of Saliba’s injury before they commit. If it’s career threatening then we are looking long term . If it’s not then Stones fits the bill.
