It won’t stop the rumour mill will it…..

Over the last few weeks, months, we have all pondered over what is in store for Carlos Vela. He made a rare start on Tuesday in the Carling Cup and despite missing a few chances which appeared easier to score than miss, it was pretty clear to see that he hasn’t lost what he was gifted at birth, it’s just in a mental box ready to come alive again. The only way that will happen is if he gets a run of games.

As we look forward to a do or die game against Partizan next week, a Carling Cup semi-final against Ipswich and a FA Cup first round match against Leeds in the New Year and of course we will need every player in our squad to be fit, available and ready to do their bit in our bid to make this season a successful one for the club we all love.

But for some of the players, the desire and need they have to be playing is becoming a need more than it is a want and soon, I’m sure one or two will be looking to get a move away from Arsenal to obtain their need.

Nikki B has already spoken about how he would be prepared to move on to secure first team football and although Arsene Wenger and he have been united in their subsequent comments, suggesting he is now ready to fight for his place, I very much doubt Nikki has changed how he feels deep down.

Carlos Vela is another, he hasn’t said anything about wanting a move away but his brother has come out and suggested he would consider a move and yesterday his agent is supposed to have said that ‘clear the air talks’ are needed. This has prompted a rumour about his sale. Reports are doing the rounds in Spain, they suggest that Real Zaragoza have already tabled a bid for our young Mexican. Along with Zaragoza, Celta Vigo, Salamanca and Osasuna are all rumoured to be keeping an eye on Vela’s situation.

Like I suggested earlier, 2011 should be a busy busy time and we’ll need every player and I can’t see Carlos Vela not being a part of that.

One player who we have all mentioned in the same breath as Arsenal transfers is Eden Hazzard – this seems to be ‘hotting up’ a bit as reports suggest Chelsea have now approached his club and made an offer. Zinedine Zidane is trying to persuade Hazzard to join Real Madrid but it seems more likely that he will end up playing in the Premiership.

‘A sorce’ has suggested that Hazzard has his eyes on two clubs, both in London. The Chavs being one and Arsenal the other.

For all the interest in him, Chelsea are the only ones who have made an approach, he has agreed with the president that he will not leave in the January window, but something may well happen at the end of the season. Of course, Real Madrid would be an attractive proposition, but Eden really likes Arsenal’s style of play under Arsene Wenger.
There is even something of Sami Nasri about him. He can play on either flank or through the middle, and he has great pace and technique. Arsenal would suit him perfectly.

So he loves our style of play…… He’s certainly not one for January but who knows what the summer months will bring.

For now though I’m going to take Arsene’s words for real and throughout January I won’t be waiting for us to sign players……

I bet it doesn’t stop us talking about them though 🙂
