Vela out, Hazzard in? We may not be buying but……..

It won’t stop the rumour mill will it…..

Over the last few weeks, months, we have all pondered over what is in store for Carlos Vela. He made a rare start on Tuesday in the Carling Cup and despite missing a few chances which appeared easier to score than miss, it was pretty clear to see that he hasn’t lost what he was gifted at birth, it’s just in a mental box ready to come alive again. The only way that will happen is if he gets a run of games.

As we look forward to a do or die game against Partizan next week, a Carling Cup semi-final against Ipswich and a FA Cup first round match against Leeds in the New Year and of course we will need every player in our squad to be fit, available and ready to do their bit in our bid to make this season a successful one for the club we all love.

But for some of the players, the desire and need they have to be playing is becoming a need more than it is a want and soon, I’m sure one or two will be looking to get a move away from Arsenal to obtain their need.

Nikki B has already spoken about how he would be prepared to move on to secure first team football and although Arsene Wenger and he have been united in their subsequent comments, suggesting he is now ready to fight for his place, I very much doubt Nikki has changed how he feels deep down.

Carlos Vela is another, he hasn’t said anything about wanting a move away but his brother has come out and suggested he would consider a move and yesterday his agent is supposed to have said that ‘clear the air talks’ are needed. This has prompted a rumour about his sale. Reports are doing the rounds in Spain, they suggest that Real Zaragoza have already tabled a bid for our young Mexican. Along with Zaragoza, Celta Vigo, Salamanca and Osasuna are all rumoured to be keeping an eye on Vela’s situation.

Like I suggested earlier, 2011 should be a busy busy time and we’ll need every player and I can’t see Carlos Vela not being a part of that.

One player who we have all mentioned in the same breath as Arsenal transfers is Eden Hazzard – this seems to be ‘hotting up’ a bit as reports suggest Chelsea have now approached his club and made an offer. Zinedine Zidane is trying to persuade Hazzard to join Real Madrid but it seems more likely that he will end up playing in the Premiership.

‘A sorce’ has suggested that Hazzard has his eyes on two clubs, both in London. The Chavs being one and Arsenal the other.

For all the interest in him, Chelsea are the only ones who have made an approach, he has agreed with the president that he will not leave in the January window, but something may well happen at the end of the season. Of course, Real Madrid would be an attractive proposition, but Eden really likes Arsenal’s style of play under Arsene Wenger.
There is even something of Sami Nasri about him. He can play on either flank or through the middle, and he has great pace and technique. Arsenal would suit him perfectly.

So he loves our style of play…… He’s certainly not one for January but who knows what the summer months will bring.

For now though I’m going to take Arsene’s words for real and throughout January I won’t be waiting for us to sign players……

I bet it doesn’t stop us talking about them though 🙂

i’d rather have hazzard and vela in the club, there will be some departures in the summer that will make room for both

  2. GunnerPete says:

If anything I would love to see Diaby, Eboue & Denilson used in Part exchange deals for Hazzard and Inler….we should not keep paying out for mediocre players and they would get more games too.

  3. agirlagunner says:

Boo! I really hope we get Hazard. And he seems keen on joining us. rico, I emailed you. Hey, WATH, old man; hope the cold hasn’t been too harsh on your joints 😛

  6. W.A.T.H says:

Agree with you gunnerpete but noway will AW get rid of Diaby nor Denilson they his blue eyed boys..! I’d keep Ebooie he’s a good squad player and doesn’t moan if he not picked.

  7. kelsey says:

  11. W.A.T.H says:

Think they do enough tests at the club rennie to know if he putting on to much lard and then he’d be told to shed it…!

  12. Dirty Danzino says:

We need to sign Inler. Two seasons in a row we’ve been tailing this guy and he has what we need in terms of the steel department.Strength, accurate passing ability ,a mean shot on either foot and a premiership esque engine. Please Wenger do you have it in your heart to sign him and Cahill .With wellington Silva coming in January I think we will be fully equipped to out score most teams that dare to breach our defence.Inler,Inler.

  17. Rennie says:

G.Inler doesn’t want to come to Arsenal at all.. He declined when Wenger went for him 2 seasons before, opting to stay @ Udinese. I believe he’s holding out for a club he assumes to be huge like Milan or Real (Oi gudluk with that son!) And that’s why Wenger hasn’t gone back for him. Don’t think Inler has said anything since then indicating a change in his stance.

We need to bring in players who really want to play for the club or at least those who are excited about playing under Wenger’s tutelage. I hate it when anyone sees the Arsenal as just a stepping stone!

  18. Rennie says:

Dirty Danzino, I agree that we need another strong DM alongside Song, but Inler’s not the answer. He is pretty good though, but needs to be taught a lesson on who are the greatest in the World

  19. Rennie says:

Right on WATH! He’s a good passer actually, that explains why Wenger went for him in the first place (easily integrate him in to the team ethos – pass, pass, pass & then another pass)

U have anyone else in mind WATH?

  20. Red Arse says:

    Nice Post Rico. 🙂

Only problem was that the first comment I saw after reading the Post was Wath doing his sheep impression! Bla, bla, bla! 🙂

Now I see he is being cheeky about poor little Inler, and as he is only 4′ 6″ in his curly toed boots himself, that’s a bit rich!

  21. oliver says:

ra, it looks like the yanks have gotten one piece of business done – reports are that they have agreed a 2-year, 30 million deal with mo, to be signed perhaps later today. it also looks like things are starting to move with jeter. baseball winter meetings start in florida very soon, and i think they want to have these two deals locked up before they break the bank for cliff lee.

  22. W.A.T.H says:

RA you plum Inler is def taller than 4’6″…. go get your facts right !!!

Rennie there are so many we linked with and so many look good on TV but thats not like watching someone for a few months game after game…!

  23. agirlagunner says:

I’ve been out for dinner and coffee, and it’s still so quiet here. 🙂 I guess cause it’s a Friday. Have fun, everyone!!

  24. rico says:

Hi kelsey, spooky you should ask, the company who are fixing my laptop have just called to say it’s ‘mendd’ – they are dropping it to my home address in the next 20 mins, then i should be back up and running properly – right now i have a loan one…

    hows that for service 🙂

  25. agirlagunner says:

WATH, I meant to say of course, that you’re a spring chicken; in the first blush of youth; positively fresh and vernal. There. I think I just restored my vodka rights. 😉

Hello, rico. You’re back. 🙂 Hi, kelsey.

  26. rico says:

Hey agag, how you doing, i’ll soon be able to get to your email 🙂
