Big Sol, once worshipped at White Hart Lane and more recently at Arsenal, and probably still is by most Arsenal fans to be honest.

His little ‘away day’ against West Ham was a mere blip in his Arsenal career, a career which made sure he retired from football with a few medals in his pocket!

Did he move to win trophies, or did he move because the then owner of Tottenham wouldn’t spend what would have been, the equivalent of todays £100 Million to reinforce the Tottenham squad before he left?

Well, if his recent comments are anything to go by, it is surely the latter?

For some reason, he believes that in order to keep van persie, the club needs to spend £100 Million.

Here is just a few things said by Sol:

I can understand why Van Persie has decided not to sign a new contract. When you go back to your club for pre-season, and you look around the changing room, you want to see top players around you and think, ‘Yeah, we’re going to do something this season. This is where it’s happening’.

That’s what Van Persie is looking for. And maybe he’s had a look and thought, ‘Is this it’?

Maybe it will be different in a couple of weeks, maybe there will be a cast of new faces to make him feel different.

They are making money, they are in good shape and everything is well-run… but they are not winning. The real sting is in the punchline.

Changing the manager isn’t going to make any difference. If there are any Arsenal fans who are tempted to call for Arsene Wenger to step down, is a new manager going to get any more firepower in the transfer market?

Unless someone produces £100m and Wenger brings some big signings to the club, I can’t see Van Persie changing his mind.

It’s irreversible.

Firstly, I think his comments about looking around the changing room and thinking ‘Is this is’? is quite disrespectful to the numerous international players we already have within our squad and secondly, £100 Million, well that is simply wrong, there is no way in this world does Arsene Wenger need to ask the club for that amount of money to spend in order for us to be truly competitive.

In any case, if the club can move on the deadwood, that in itself could/would be enough to sign one really good player, maybe even two, after all we have a few who, in the eyes of many fans, need to move on for the sake of their own career and of course for the club.

Those in my view are deadwood, some of you will probably want to add Walcott, Song and even Ramsey to that list but for me they are the base of our squad, together with the rest.

Selling all those above could give Arsene Wenger somewhere between £25-£30 Million to add to what he has already been promised he can spend.

Some suggest that amount is £25 Million, some more, and of course some believe less but in all honesty I haven’t a clue so I’m not going to guess, but I would imagine he has more than what most think, after all, we as a club are far from being broke.

Stan Kroenke may not have liked reading that letter from Red & White Holdings, that is of course if he has bothered to read it and in my opinion he has one of two choices.

Carry on the same old way and by that I mean make little change to the way we do transfers, or wake up and support Arsene Wenger by giving him the right money to make this squad a better one, one which is capable of really challenging the likes of Citeh, Utd and Chelsea.

If, and I hope he does the latter, the fans will be back on his side in a flash, however, Arsene Wenger has vowed not to change his policy in the transfer market and stands by the views of Johan Cruyff  who believes you can still be successful using a good youth set-up and by recruiting talented young players.

I totally agree with Cruyff — and I won’t change.

We’ll see over the next seven or eight weeks if that remains to be the case…

That’s it from me, have a good day all…..
