Morning all.
Arsenal director Josh Kroenke on his father, Stan’s, ownership of the club:
We have no intention of selling, I believe we are fit to carry on in our position as custodians of Arsenal. We were put in a very difficult position by forces outside of the club.
Stanley should have just said “no” when asked if Arsenal wanted to be part of the Super League. No, and then walk away because had he done so, Arsenal wouldn’t be in the press, again for negative reasons. Josh did add that any hefty fines dished out to the club will be paid by his family and not the club. Rightly so!
I might be met with mistrust and scepticism, but over time I hope to establish some sort of relationship with our supporter groups and show them we are capable of taking our club forward. We have the same plans for summer that we had several weeks ago and I’m still excited about those.
Of course the Kroenke family will be met with mistrust and scepticism but not just because of the Super League. I doubt there are many fans who trusted them before all of this, let alone now. My only hope now is that because of this royal cockup, they’ll put more effort into the club along with more finances. FFP permitting. I won’t be holding my breath though.
Arsenal have to focus on the football now and it’s up to Mikel Arteta and the players to push this whole sorry affair to one side and get back to playing because at 8pm tonight, Everton will be hoping to give us a good hiding.
Arsenal are without both Aubameyang and Lacazette which means one of Nketiah, Balogun or most likely, Pepe or Martinelli will play centrally. Odegaard faces a late fitness test. According to the BBC, Everton are without both Doucoure and Gbamin.
Neither Everton or Arsenal are having a particularly good season but there’s still an outside chance of finishing in a Europa spot for both clubs. Everton haven’t won a match since they beat WBA 1-0 away from home on the 4th March. Arsenal’s most recent League victory came at Bramall Lane when Sheffield Utd were given a good hiding, however, in our last fixture we did everything but score enough goals. A defensive error from Gabriel gifted Fulham their only goal from the penalty spot,
Its fair to say, Arsenal need to be wiser in defence against an Everton side who’ll be stronger up front than Fulham. Scoring goals hasn’t necessarily been their problem but defending them has.
Mikel Arteta said in his press conference that there’s still a lot for his team to play for this season and of course there is. The Europa Cup, Europa qualification by way of the League too but there’s pride too. Despite the owners throwing the Arsenal FC under the proverbial bus, the players are out there representing our club which is steeped in history and has always been known for doing things the right way.
Play for the fans Arsenal because we’ll always be here. The selfish and greedy owners won’t be.
See you in the comments.
Thanks Rico, I wonder if the Everton websites/blogs are as damning of Ancelotti as the many Arsenal ones are of Mikel?
Ancelotti is a vastly experienced manager who has won everything but his team is currently only a few points ahead of Arsenal and unlike Arteta he hasn’t won a trophy, yet you read the comments of some doomers and anyone would think that Arteta is the worst manager ever.
Morning all.
Kev, plenty of Arsenal fans have shown over a period of time that experience in watching a game does not equate to having knowledge of it.
That’s as politely as I can say it hahaha
Let’s hope the boys can get on with things, and finish this season strongly as a catalyst for the upcoming 21/22 campaign.
Who knows what Enos Kroenke will do as far as selling or staying, and spending or not spending is concerned.
Yes, Stan wasn’t always known as Stan and really, who can blame him for avoiding being known as bloody Enos bahahahahaha
Morning Kev, Scott, all.
Ancelotti was meant to be the bees knees wasn’t he yet as you say Kev, they’re not exactly ripping up the League. And they have a multi millionaire behind them too.
Rico, Everton should’ve employed a world class manager with experience, not a trainee.
Oh wait, that’s what Arteta critics says about him hahahaha
All I’m saying is there are never guarantees when it comes to hiring any manager.
Ancelloti has had a phenomenal career.
Arteta can’t escape criticism though Scott. Arsenal don’t have a lot to brag about as far as results and performances go. Unless we win the Europa League, this season will have been a terrible one imo.
Rico, I’m not concerned about this season at all.
The rebuild continues and it’s one hell of a rebuild.
Europa League would be a bonus.
Hi all. I won’t comment on what Josh claims were the reason why they wanted to join super league as every second word would be beeped out.
As for Everton match until we lost Laca and for what little Auba may add I thought we would win but now I hoping we for a win.
Ok Scott.
Geoff, Stan and Josh only joined the SL for the fans.
Don’t be so cynical hahahahaha
I hope Martinelli plays central, and we will be fine mate.
Scott its ok to keep saying we are rebuilding but if we don’t start winning regularly means we are not improving and also no wins = no money coming in
Geoff, having Stan means no money coming in.
I’ll keep saying it’s a rebuild because it’s exactly that!!!
How long do you think it should take to change the entire culture of a club, not to mention the playing style and squad??
Everyone raves about Klopp and plenty were filthy when he joined Liverpool, as he seemed an Arsenal style manager.
5 years for him to win the League.
You find a different way every day to stick the knife into Arteta and that’s your choice, and your opinion.
I’ll stick with mine.
Kind of agree Geoff. Football is a results game after all.
Scott, you should be grateful for the Kroenke family. I bet many owners would have sacked Arteta by now. Lol
Rico, maybe one day you’ll be grateful they kept him on.
Maybe we should sack every manager who hasn’t won the League within 18 months lol
Scott, I’d have to be ungrateful first!
Rico, I’ll only ever be grateful when Stan sells up but even then he might sell to an arsehole, so will haunt us anyway lol
Scott I agree Stan won’t put too much money into the club which is why we need to win and qualify for the bigger match so Arteta can get the chance to buy the players he wants and show fans like me that he can coach after all he has been given more opportunities than Emery was.
Geoff, so he needs to win things with a squad he inherits so he can bring in his own players to win things?
Surely owners should support a manager as best they can, else why enjoy him in the first place and on that count, even Emery was let down.
Did Emery win an FA Cup with us?
Even a Community Shield?
He absolutely destroyed our chances of finishing top 4, and led us to a debacle in the Europa League final, so why wouldn’t Arteta be given more chances?
Scott so was Emery given every chance when he had to fix all the problems leftover from Wenger, and then when he told the club who he wanted they went out and got different players and as you said before the owner will not put money into the club so if we don’t start winning more regularly then how is Arteta going to get the money to buy players, let’s face it the more we loose the less our players are worth when we try to sell
There’s a rumour a game of football might break out tonight.
I’d like to see Nketiah up front,Martinelli/Pepe on the left,Saka on the right.Otherwise strongest available, having said that if anyone is doubtful save them for Villareal or at least put them on the bench.
I’m fed up hearing what a great job Ancellotti does too.
COYG
I’ll only ever be grateful when Stan sells up but even then he might sell to an arsehole, so will haunt us anyway lol
Kind of like Fiszman , Hill Wood and Bracewell- Smith did to start this fiasco.
The team tonight will show whether we have given up hope of creeping into the upper places .
A win puts us 6th 4 points from 6th and 6 points off 4th.
Lose tonight and the fat lady’s opera begins .
Should be puts us 8th ( should really find a proof reader or an edit function
With Laca and Auba both out now is the best chance our younger players have to cement their place not only in this team but also for their future
Ditto Limey, let’s see Eddie play. He grew up playing alongside ESR and Saka so who knows, he might benefit.
I’ll take bets on Willian starting tonight.
Evening Rico and the House.
You would have lost your bet Cicero.
Delighted to see Eddy leading the line
.
Evening Rick. Good to hear Eddie starts.
Good evening Rico and all.
Eddie is up leading the line. From the bottom of my heart I hope he grabs his chance and in the remaining games does enough to convince Arteta and the club that he (and Balogun) should be the ones leading Arsenal’s attack, Where that leaves Auba and Laca?? tbh I simply dont care.
Otherwise, with the exception of Tierney missing (although Xhaka I like a lot and fingers crossed he continues to perform well in KT’s absence) that is my favourite defense.
Evening Devil. Little and large might work… lol
There must be trouble outside the Emirates as all I can hear is the police helicopter….
https://www.theguardian.com/football/2021/apr/23/thousands-of-arsenal-fans-stage-protest-against-kroenke-outside-stadium
Makes your heart warm with pride at being a true Gunner.
Potter @ 2.53pm over the years, I’ve asked on numerous occasions “who let Stan in the front door” as they’re to blame, no question at all.
We need this win………desperately.
Its going to be hard togetsomething out of this game
Perhaps Martinelli will get some joy Rick.
we got something…..a penalty in our favour. I hope we score it
just our luck….its turned into an offside decision
Last game white boots this time white sleeve
that was a good shot by ceballos. It opened them up and Pickford had to stretch to save it
What on earth was Leno doing… Chump!
what the hell was that by Leno?
Willian coming on should help us get the game won…. 😳
a real prized chump. first class pedigree I must say.
why did he palm it in the back of the net?
Think it hit the inside of his right foot.
Horrible from Xhaka, worse from Leno.
Self destructing again.
Williain’t A Footballer should be his name
Difference of two keepers
Leno palmed the ball in the net. he did not kneel down properly for the ball, but rather square legs. plus it should have been a routine collection of ball…..a ten year old kid would have held that.
Leano,….closed his eyes, blinked, winked, whatever he did he is a total FARCE. And no….I am not forgiving him that howler tonight.
He needs to be replaced.
I would drop Leno for the rest of the season! He’s made too many errors leading to goals as it is, and then he does that!
Where is ALMUNIA when you need him
Send in the clowns..
After reading and hearing some of the comments coming
out after the match makes me think I was watching a completly different game
I think that both Saka and ESR were both off the pace tonight and both are
running out of steam. They are both marked players in the league and both
nead a break.
Talk about square pegs in round holes! With two international full backs in the squad Arteta selects a midfielder without any pace at left back and a utility defender at right back. Ludicrous selections.
What was Arteta thinking of putting Xhaka at left back with a player like Richarleson facing him. Hadn’t our manger ever watched him play? He’s fast, he very clever, he knows exactly how to play against lumbering defenders.
Xhaka and Leno were at fault for the goal, but the blame for the defeat lies squarely at the door of Mikel Arteta.
Not having Foloran Balogun on the bench and bringing on Willian has really got me worried.
To me the obvious decision when you are short of striking options is to have as many strikers on the bench as possible.
So you don’t pick Reiss Nelson because you simply don’t trust him anyway and it’s a waste of a spot on the bench, you pick Balogun because he can score goals. That’s right Mikel goals.
Get it?
But no, you go with Nelson and when you find yourself chasing the game and you play the Martinelli/Odegaard card and it doesn’t work, you’re left with what?
You are left with the abject stupidity of bringing on Willian and that pretty much says it all…
I’ve supported Arteta throughout this shitshow of a season and I’ve stuck up for him when many other fans have not, but I’m afraid that my support is wearing thin after this evening…
He better sort his head out and pick the right team and squad for next Thursday or else things could begin to get a bit tasty for our manager…
We did well but in the end we missed Laca and a stupid mistake by Leno again why does Arteta keep picking Leno
Arteta to blame for the Leno howler?
That’ll do me.
Ffs it’s “Wenger out” with the bullshit “logic” starting all over again lol
I often said many fans would blame Wenger if WW3 started.
I take it your last comment was in response to my one @ 11.05 Scott. If so I suggest you read it again, as nowhere does it say Arteta was at fault for Leno’s own goal. But it is his selection policy that in my opinion cost us the game.
Cicero, it’s aimed at every Arsenal fan who carried the same popular line.
Leno made an error that a schoolboy shouldn’t make.
The fact Arteta selected him doesn’t make Arteta responsible for the error, though I’m sure plenty will somehow make it so.
Gee, even our best keepers made howlers but we never blamed the manager.
On this occasion, I’ll forgive Arteta for his team selection, not that he’ll give a toss, but only because of the Europa Cup semifinals coming up. But, if it’s the same team/subs for the Villarreal game then Arteta really does confuse me.
Why play Ryan against Fulham and then drop him straight after. Crazy imo.
Still, it’s Arteta’s job on the line and honestly, I think his supporters lessen after each game.
It’s not bullshit Scott, it’s genuine concern.
Similar concern many of us had over Emery. It’s obvious you are right behind Arteta but surely you can see he’s making a few very odd decisions.
11.32 Kev, I’m in the same boat your paddling.
New post up now
Rico, I’ve said all along he’s made errors and he has a lot to learn.
Rico do you have a link to new post thanks

Here you go Geoff.
