‘New signing’ to make his debut today against Sunderland?

Yep, it’s true, Aaron Ramsey, who’s return will be classed as being ‘like a new signing’, could make his return today against Sunderland as Wenger has confirmed he’s in the squad.

If he’s ready to play, I hope he’s in the first team, not just the squad!

Cesc Fabregas, Theo Walcott, Thomas Vermaelen, Robin van Persie, Fabianski and Alex Song are all out of todays clash with Sunderland and Koscielny will have a fitness test this morning.

Sunderland also have their own long list of injuries, with Zenden, Cattermole, Gordon, Onunoha, Wellbeck, Campbell and Meyler all out today, Gordon’s absence means will continue in goal.

We have won just one of our last five league meetings with Sunderland (W1, D3, L1)but when Sunderland last beat us at home it was back in 1983

We are unbeaten in our last ten league matches, winning seven and drawing three, in fact we sit top of the form table for February whilst poor old Sunderland sit bottom having lost their last four matches.

That is not to be laughed at though as they have been to Chelsea and won and took a point off both Fulham and the Tiny Totts at their own ground so we will still need to be at our very best and again, those stepping up for the injured need to prove their worth.

I’m not going to guess the team, I’ll leave that to Wenger but whoever plays needs to look at the shirt they are wearing and play with pride….

We all know Old Red Nose has appealed his FA Charge of Improper Conduct following his loss to the Chavs last weekend, well I for one am glad he has. If for once the FA ‘grow some’, they will soon realise that the appeal is frivolous to say the least and give him a few extra matches added on to his ‘sentence’. He is facing a minimum of a four match ban in any case! Would be nice to go to OT with the red nose glowing in the crowd!

Back to today, we have a chance to really put some pressure on the Mancs, if we can get the three points we will sit just one point behind them they don’t play until tomorrow and that’s a tricky fixture at Anfield.

We’ve had the door opened for us, let’s make sure we get one foot through it by battering Sunderland in front our home fans today.

Have a good day all……

if their is a summer cleansing and AW can get good cash we may well see a big name signing..
AW wont spend but if hes generated enough cash through player sales, now the stadium and highbury square crisis is over, that money may well go back into the squad..
if he sells 5 players and makes 25mil he should bring 4 players thru from academy and buy a superstar

Loads of midfeilders but still none compare with threading a ball like Cesc

JonJon
JonJon

hey wath
thats also a problem steve..
because we have so masny ‘runners’ from midfield its often the case its our mids who are shooting..
nasris abit more composed than most so he finds the net more often than not but the rest are not clinical enough and miss too many..
denilsons worm burners do my swede in

Steve Palmer
Steve Palmer

Wath, dont know if you would agree but i think we have one now in Theo, put him in the middle and i think he could just be the one, so often i have seen a pass pushed through for bendy or Robin even Chamakh and their to slow i’m sure Theo is wasted out wide and he wants to come inside all the time great pace thats wasted, if he runs down the wing theres no one to pass to

Steve Palmer
Steve Palmer

Imagine for a minute Barca attacking us and we get the ball and Theo was on the centre spot and one of them lobs went in they we hate and Theo went after it, now that could raise the heartrate i know

JonJon
JonJon

thats why a player like theo is a massive weapon against a team like barca..
for all theos negatives hes dangerous because barca play a high line and are easily caught on the break when done properly with pace..

Steve Palmer

Steve Palmer

I personally dont rate them that high, Tores has had three four games and is still goaless and Carrol has a lot to prove yet, if he ever gets a game, i rate Rooney, dont like to say that but his workrate is second to none he’s distribution is good and if his
told to support he does it realy well. shame his such a wanker

Steve Palmer
Steve Palmer

I dont understand Diaby last few games i’ve watched him get worse and worse, just watched Arsene’s interview, he showed great composure, he was seathing but was frightened of a three match touchline ban, surely Managers have got to get together and have a say in these decisions owing to the tv camera’s proveing that there wrong decisions, i’m listening to all the managers and their all moaning, i smell a rat.

oliver

what can we do? if i could play this for them i would… no leadership out there today, just a willingness to revert to our sideways-backwards passing routine when it became apparent sunderland would not cave in easy.

Steve Palmer
Steve Palmer

The amount of attacks we have and the final ball is so often bad , o for an instinctive striker that can shoot with power and direction, where is that quick breakaway we were talking about five or six weeks ago, slow boreing build up twenty useless passes ten sidewaysforward, nine backwards, and a pass to them

im so fucking annoyed with AW
whats the point of letting rambo go out on loan for months in a high tempo competitive league to get him fit and then when hes available he picks neves ‘wheres my inhaler’ denilson and abou ‘what, im supposed to chase the ball too??’ diaby…

its not over yet but it appears that this game with barca is a complete and utter sideshow and hes been more concerned with them for weeks..

bollox to barca field a weakend team and get our players back for the PL…

Steve Palmer
Steve Palmer

Tell you what rico, i used to love the way we played but they probably pass more now and i find it boreing knowing that they will fizzle out like a dud firework and only find a live one when your about to nod off, Jack dosnt give the ball away as much as some of the others but we still get a lot of side passes, we get our attack Mid pass the ball forward and the forwards pass it back past them to the ctl def drives me mad

A lad I know is a massive Glasgow Rangers fan, & when they’re unhappy with either the manager or the product they’re being served up, they simply boycott Ibrox, & the board are forced to react. Why aren’t the Arsenal fans doing the same at the Emirates? Put into context, everyone lauds Wenger as though he were a football God. Mourinho’s tactics against Barcelona in last years CL completely exposed Wenger’s flaws, & for a so-called ‘top coach’, his head-to-head record against either Mourinho or Ferguson is shocking. Has he ever dominated & thrashed Man Utd as they have done to us (6-1!?! 4-0!?! The one-sided CL semi-final!?! Even this season at OT, we never registered a single decent shot after they scored!), & how easy was their win at the Emirates last season? He is undoubtedly a principled man of great integrity who has done many wonderful things for our great club, but he is some way short of being a top footballing coach.

I understand totally what you’re saying W.A.T.H., but the heart-beat of every club is it’s supporters. Is there nobody among us who can influence and instigate the change of philosophy that is so desperately needed? Someone has to make Wenger accountable for such piss-poor passionless crap, surely? Otherwise he’s getting £6m? a year for not competing. I don’t hate Wenger, I just hate what he has been allowed to do to our club. He deserves great respect for building a fantastic stadium, (and for the ‘Invincibles’), but everyone has now worked him out, & he really doesn’t have any other tactic. Fundamentally football is a sport which we all grew up to love, but if we’re now saying that greed & the need for money is more important than winning trophies, we may as well all pack it in and say R.I.P. Arsenal FC.

agirlagunner

JonJon
JonJon

the supporters dont mean shit to AW
hes spent the last 5 years throwing the dometics when we werent good enough for the pl and cl
and now we are good enough for the PL he still refuses to spend that little bit extra to reinforce positions that go to shit when the injuries kick in..

rico..
its all about giving 100%
fergies manutd are shit but he makes them work there bollox off..when they pick up a few niggles his squad players come and do a job cos they run about like tits..they may not look as good but they dont carry any passengers
its a different mentality at arsenal..the backups are technially gifted but they have no workrate and we end up with too many passengers and we look out of sorts..
we need those local lads to come thru and run their tits off cos our current backups are just happy to run the the bank with their pay cheque..

JonJon
JonJon

we can still win the league..
theres 10 games left and we are unbeaten in 2011..
but we need to fuck the cl and fa cup off….get the injured players back for brom in 3 weeks and then go all out..and if robin come back for the last 5 games we’ll go on to win it..

JonJon
JonJon

not when diaby and denilson play anyway rico
weve seen it so many times over the last 5 years its not a new thing..its something we worked out years ago they cant play together and make us tick
the midfield is our engine room..its where the games won and lost you control the midfield and you control the tempo but those two cant control shit cos they have no workrate and we shouldnt be relying on them anymore to carry us over the line cos it doesnt work..it never has..they too lathargic..denilson cant run and diaby wont
rambo should have played today..ive said it for a few days now and i stick by it..

agirlagunner

There’s absolutely no excuse for the performance earlier. Poor line-up, dire players. This is on AW’s head. SJJ, I agree. I want the league, too. Barca must be salivating at the prospect of facing the team that played today…

Still very angry about it. rico, I know you’ll watch the game anyway, but time and again D&D gave the ball away. Diaby, at least, had one or two good runs; Denilson… Eurgh.

Isn’t it a double-edge sword? Surely winning major trophies sells the club to a bigger world-wide audience. As much as we all hate Man Utd, their brand is bigger and better than ours, and that nas a lot to do with Ferguson’s desire for success. And when they go forward they always look like they can score goals. Every summer Ferguson looks his players in the eye, and if they don’t have the nunger or desire to fight for success, they’re gone. Maybe the French just don’t have that in their DNA. Scotsmen have won the most titles in the history of English football, & they’ve won a few European Cups too. George Graham won us a European trophy, and whilst Wenger had mitigating circumstances in 2006 CL final, his team were shockingly poor in 2000 UEFA final against an ordinary Galatasaray(‘scuse the spelling!). Look at what Bill Shankly built at Liverpool, and what Matt Busby did at Man Utd long before Ferguson. Ferguson has survived 25 years, regularly swats Wenger like you do an annoying fly, and has dealt with Abramovic’s billions in a way that Wenger just isn’t capable of. Even our own multi-title winning Lee Dixon questioned his old manager’s tactical philosophy! I’m no expert, but I think we should have a Scotsman managing our club, but please don’t ask me who.

Come on JJ, how many first team players are out for the next few games?

Should have strengthened in Jan? Should have strengthened in the last 3 windows and slowly built a squad that was capable to win everything.

I am no genius but if Wenger buys some top class experienced players around 27 years old, it gives us the here and now strength to win, gives the younger players players to attain to be and learn from and gives scope for the younger players to grow slowly and take the places of the older players “organically”.

I hate this “kill the youth” excuse. Would an in his prime Bergkamp/Vieira/Henry/Adams kill the youth or give them someone to learn from?
