I was talking to a friend yesterday about our goalkeeping situation, wondering who Wenger’s going to bring in for cover. He suggested it would be Mad Jens! I just chuckled knowing he was joking. Sadly though, I now think he was being serious and all the paps today say Jens is ready to help out, in fact he’ jump at the chance.

My heart sank, surely Wenger wouldn’t be so daft, would he?……….

Anyway…..

What a horrid few days we have been through and still we have to read the pundits ridiculing our midweek display against Barca. Well, no more on here eh, time to get behind the club and join Wenger in his view about ‘time for the players to show bottle’!

Don’t be Old Trafford bottlers’.

That’s what Wenger has told his players and I for one agree.

I don’t know when we last won at Old Trafford off the top of my head and to be honest, I couldn’t care either, it’s all about the here and now, that is what’s important today.

Only a short time ago we were in all four competitions, now it’s down to two and these two matter. For me personally, they are the two that matter most. I love the FA Cup and there is nothing better than seeing Sky Sports squirming throughout the summer and the following season when having to refer to us as ‘the current league champions’ or even the ‘double winners’ is there?

Yes, it’s been a long time but today we can, if we apply ourselves, take one tiny step forward to achieving this again!

Fergie says he is going to field his strongest side, so what eh. Having watched Liverpool tear that side apart last weekend I don’t think our players should be afraid of who he fields. Vidic is back in defence for them but he’s always good for a penalty or a red card so all we need to do is get him in the position to make his errors, we won’t if we don’t get the ball in the box.

They won’t have Nani thanks to Jamie Carragher’s dreadful tackle last weekend but what does make me laugh is Nani saying he doesn’t ever want to watch the replay of the incident. Ok, it’s wasn’t the best but it was nowhere near what Eduardo and Rambo had to suffer was it?

On to us,Wenger also says he will field a strong side, good we don’t have another game until next weekend. They have a week to recover after today and please let’s not think they need a rest after Tuesday, they are fit grown men, that game was four days ago, they should be gagging to get back out on the football pitch and get our club into the next round of the FA Cup.

Hopefully Almunia will perform in a similar fashion as in midweek, as will the defence in front of him.

Cesc, Vermaelen, Theo and Song are the major absentees for us – Rambo will hopefully step in for Cesc and I guess Denilson will replace Song. But then with Wenger you just never know, he may just stand by Diaby – just hope they don’t play together, it doesn’t work.

Today isn’t only about the FA Cup it’s about beating the club that sit three points above us in the league. They still have to come to The Emirates.

Let’s get the win today, get into the next round of the cup and put a little bit of doubt in the minds of the Mancs.

Win this mental and physical battle today and it will set us up nicely for the remainder of the season.

The question is, will they?

Have a good day all…
