Jenkinson snub, Huntelaar on the cheap & The season so far….

Arsenal’s campaign so far.

Looking at the league table, it’s hard to fight the slight feeling of disappointment. I don’t mean that we sit currently at seventh, that’s not important yet as we are not even a quarter of the way into the season. I actually have very high aspirations for us this season, as well as beyond.

I am really just a bit bothered that we blew an opportunity to smack Chelsea at our place and maybe that we didn’t take three points from Sunderland. The latter I can excuse a little, considering all the changes to our squad from last season. How can we expect our new attacking players to be ready with only one match together (Cologne) in the whole pre-season.

Even without all the new players, this was a ridiculous schedule. We have to be better prepared if we want stronger starts each year and Stoke away is a war for every top team, usually with points being dropped, so we must accept its difficulty.

On the positive side, a battle at Man City saw us come away with a point, something which not many will do and the rest of the fixtures to date we have won as expected.

Satisfactory?

Most encouraging, is that we have not been outplayed by any opponent yet. Chelsea played very well, as did we but it was down to organisational mistakes on set pieces which was our downfall.

Maybe with Szczesny it could have been different, we won’t ever know but we can’t really complain about Mannone’s work overall – I would say sufficient for a third choice. Anyway, that’s the part that hurts a bit, a victory would have seen us right up close to the top sides around the 15 point area, and Chelsea wouldn’t be as far away as they seem. I’m sure they will add Falcao, so they could be hard to beat with their fortunate start.

Also, we must admit that our foolish sale of van Persie to a desperate Manchester United has saved them so far. Without his contributions and the typical help from referees, they would be closer to the bottom than the top. I think they are overrated and I fully expect us to finish ahead of them this season, even with van Persie. This will happen, as long as we don’t choke when we go head to head. We should go in expecting to win, and forgetting the recent past. We are an almost completely new team from just a couple of years ago, and we need to make a statement to them.

The overall signs and game play are very positive. We’ve all spoken about the new discipline on defence which has only slipped momentarily from Vermaelen. Most of us agree that despite what the media was trying to stir up about Giroud, he has played very well in many aspects, and looks like he will be good for us. Cazorla could end up the player of the year for the league if he’s properly recognized. If Silva’s been considered recently, Santi should have a great chance and Podolski is even better addition than I expected. He has an impact all over the pitch, such a hard worker with great attitude, especially on defence.

For a quick mention : Steve Bould is really making a difference. Gervinho is living up to his potential finally and Arteta – his game is as perfect as his hair. Our fullbacks as a pair, are the best in the league so far if you think about it. This, with Sagna coming back, leads to my next point. Just a mention of Jenkinson here, his season has been so impressive, England manager Roy Hodgson has confirmed that he is in his plans and our young defender has reportedly now chosen England, snubbing Finland, the country he represented at under 21 level. At least when he’s older he’ll be able to tell his kids he was so good he played for two countries….

The returning strength and depth, with Rosicky, Wilshere, Sagna, Szczesny, and maybe even Diaby. With just a little luck, and as long as we take it very slow with Jack, we have a lot to look forward to. Talking of Jack, he is scheduled for a ‘behind closed doors’ game on Wednesday against a Chelsea side as he continues his comeback. If all goes well, he is expected to be involved in the Capital One Cup fixture against Reading.

Let’s not forget our solid start to the Champions League either, that takes some pressure off as we go into the next few matches in that competition. In the Capital One Cup, I love to watch our future stars. If Theo walks away, maybe one of them will step up to help out.

As January approaches, the rumours will begin about signings. I don’t pay any attention to all the stories about all our available cash, we won’t spend much anyway. I hope we add depth up front, my choice would be Huntelaar and he would not be expensive because contract is running down. Although he has held talks with his current club, no agreement has been made so no doubt, he will be available in January.

Word is he doesn’t like van Persie- which is a bonus, but most of all, he can do the job as well as almost anybody, regardless of the cost.

So, moving forward, my confidence is high and I hope our players feel the same way.

Good Morning my Esteemed Fellow Gunners.

What a week this is turning out to be………….another graduate writer in the Hallowed pages of HH. Well done Nige.

Rico must be chuffed to bits. And as pleased as a dragon in a pinch.

Huntelaar is good Nige. But Damiao is better and has a better sale on value later on since he is still young. Maybe Chicarito will come in January.

    Who knows.

  2. devilgunner says:

Arsenal are said to be readying a move for highly rated Brazilian international Leandro Damiao according to TransferMarketWeb. The Internacional striker has long been a target of North London rivals Tottenham but now Arsene Wenger appears keen on snapping up the 23 year old.
Wenger is keen to beef up his attacking options having offloaded a number of strikers either on loan or on a permanent basis, leaving the North London club with just summer signings Lukas Podolski and Olivier Giroud as viable first team starters.
Damiao has been in superb form in his native Brazil netting 74 goals in 122 matches for his Porto Algre based side and the form shown during the 2012 Olympic Football tournament had a number of watching scouts considering a potential summer bid for the powerfully built striker but as yet no offer had persuaded Internacional to sell.
Having sold Robin Van Persie and Carlos Vela and sent Nicklas Bendnter and Park Chu Young on loan and seemingly giving up on Marouane Chamakh, there is certainly space for another striker in Arsene Wenger’s squad and though it is always something of a risk to invest heavily in a player with no experience of plying his trade in Europe it seems that Damiao has attracted the attention of the Gunners boss enough to warrant a significant bid.
Indeed this source claims Arsenal are ready to fork out €20m (£16m) to land Leandro in January.

  3. devilgunner says:

Ahhhh. That’s better. Gd morning lady.

Did you see the vid I posted about that lake in the Alps yesterday???

you should spend a week there………….it will do you good.

  4. rico says:

Morning all, good read Nt, thank you..

I like the idea of Huntelaar, good age, he’ll be nearly 30 and wouldn’t necessarily block the progress of Afobe and Campbell. He’s a goal machine and one who I doubt would need bedding in time.

The defence has been better, but as you say, set-pieces still trouble us at times, and those times in my opinion are when Merts doesn’t play.

Kos and Tv have had their moments this season which hopefully will be ironed out and never repeated.

Mannone, well I am not overly impressed but he’s young and I think we nearly all agree, we need an old head between the sticks…

  5. rico says:

    Morning to you devil,

I don’t believe that rumour about Damiao, no more than I believe the Sturridge to Arsenal one.

The way AW has done his recent transfer signings, not sure he’d take a gamble on another young one, especially from Brazil.

Too many miles on international duty, something which hampered Vela’s career with us when playing for Mexico…

  6. rico says:

devil, Nt has written for HH before and hopefully will many more times 🙂

But yes, I am very happy, SP has done one for tomorrow too. 🙂

  7. devilgunner says:

You are right Rico. That is something I failed to think about…the long trips etc. Neither do I believe the Sturridge one, but then again who knows. Maybe if Theo signs and Sturridge is added then it would be a jump in Englishmen for AFC. You wait for a bus for two hours and then 6 come along…………Jenks, Gibbs, Ox, Theo, Yennaris,……………..with maybe Sturridge as well. but I am still sceptic about Theo and Sturridge.

  8. rico says:

Ref Pat Holland, seems it’s personal reasons he has gone. Maybe he felt as if he was betraying the totts!!

On 22 August 2012, Holland was appointed as the coach of Arsenal’s under-18 team.

However, Holland left his post 7 weeks later, citing personal reasons.

  9. devilgunner says:

Oh did he??? maybe when I was in Italy then. because I do not recall reading one of his.

But well done to NT. A good article.

  10. rico says:

Ah yes, you could have been away, the post was about Jenkinson and how Wenger had plucked out another diamond…

Oh, and I didn’t see the link from yesterday devil, my internet decided to play naughty games on me, i must have missed it…

  11. Lewis says:

    Morning all,

Nice post Nigel. Can that be your nickname?!

Huntelaar would be good and with the added bonus of saying F**k you to Van P€RSI€.

A reasonable start to the season, but I feel both city and Chelsea were there for the taking and we should of had more to show for it than a point. Oh we’ll, it’s in the past, onwards and upwards, all the way to the top.

  12. devilgunner says:

Frimpong is from Ghana Lady. He has stated that he will play for them.

But I am not that much sceptical about Frimpong. I like his attitude and his energy. Its only that I do not see him as having the brains to play the PIVOTE. You need to be highly skilful to do that plus have a good intelligently tactical brain. Like having a qualified pro-Licenced coach on the playing field itself. Xavi and Arteta do that. With the right attitude and patience at AFC Cesc could have been that. But while Frimpong will DENCH you with his hard tackles I think that Yennaris will play that role in years to come.

  13. rico says:

    Morning Lewis,

Have to agree re Citeh and Chelsea. Missed opportunity imho and little things like that make a difference when we get to the end of the season.

Mind you, so was Sunderland at the Emirates, that’s seven dropped points…

  14. rico says:

Ah yes, I forgot he has chosen Ghana, shame really because give it a couple of years and there will be a space in the England midfield for him….

  15. devilgunner says:

The only one I forgot was Wilshere. Goshhhhhh……I must be getting old. How could I forget him. There now…..Goonie will get his chance to laugh at me.

So………Gibbs, Jenks, Wilshere, OX, Theo, Yennaris.

Now maybe if Woy was clevew enough he would do his best to call Awteta. On the other hand better if he does not……he will get all the rest during international breaks.

  16. devilgunner says:

So the English national team in five years time could see this…..

    Keeper
    Jenks, CB,CB, Gibbs
    Wilshere, Yennaris,
    Ox, Advanced midfielder, Theo
    CF

That’s good. Now if Afobe steps up and plays we could see a team build by AW (yes BY AW you filthy scumbags from the press) which rivals the 1930’s team of 7 AFC players which played against Italy. Now, how would we LORD THAT???????

Incidentally…………..I am missing AK!!!!! where is he. haven’s seen him for a long time now. Hope you are ok Kev!!!!!!!

  17. devilgunner says:

Yennaris is English having been born in Leytonstone.

Frimps has been born in Khumasi….Ghana. Although Frimpong has represented England at youth level, he has pledged his international future to his country of birth Ghana.

Woy should twy in convincing him to play fow the English team. He would make an intewesting combination with Wilshewe, Yennawis and the Ox in an all AFC midfield.

Now imagine if that lot win the Euro or the World cup. That would be the perfect icing.

  18. devilgunner says:

Yennaris’s father is Greek Cypriot and his mother is Chinese.

So technically he can play for England, Cyprus, China and Greece since his grandfather/mother are both greek. Up till now he has played for England at all levels up to under 19.

  19. rico says:

I see the Afc future as being a mix or English, German and Spanish and Dutch…

Maybe an odd French player, Capoue 😉

  20. devilgunner says:

Or maybe Butland Rico. Although I would love that very much I highly doubt it…………..with Chezzer, Flappy and Don Vito plus Martinez and She. But give me Butland any day over all of these.

  21. gavin oz says:

only problem with huntelaar he will be cup tied,i would love to see him play for us maybe Llorente,or Damiaogreat post nigel.

  22. devilgunner says:

Cup tied only for Europe. But he would be free for the EPL, FA,CC

And as he hates RVP that is an added bonus.

  23. Adam says:

Morning Rico and all. Can’t see Huntelaar myself but then again I am mostly wrong. I backed Squillaci for the Golden Boot.

  24. rico says:

I’m not sure any of the keepers are good enough to be number 1 right now. Ches is the nearest but he makes silly mistakes…

  25. devilgunner says:

    Squilly for the golden boot???????

    😆 😆 😆 😆 😆 😆 😆 😆 😆 😆 😆

    Ballon d’or!!!!!!!!

  26. GoonerB says:

Good post. I think as things currently stand we would only need one more prolific goal-scorer to add to complete this squad. Another gooner said to me the other day “we are not really missing RVP, are we?”. I said yes we have missed him but his leaving has not had such a negative impact on us as the media and pundits would have predicted. Those tight games with Sunderland, Citeh and Chelsea which read 2 draws and a loss I think would read at least 2 wins and a draw, possibly even 3 wins, if RVP had still been with us. I still feel so betrayed by him as I feel we would have had an awesome squad with him in it, and IMO some way better than Utd’s. We have bought well and look very strong but are still one quality striker light to turn those tight games in our favour.

I like Giroud and think he will be good for us but we need another. Interestingly I actually believe Giroud could play in a 2 striker system as well as the lone striker. I have been impressed with his ability and link up play when he has dropped deeper with other players getting ahead of him. At this stage I think Huntelaar would be a good buy as he is a proven goal-scorer in European leagues. I always have slight reservations about how quickly players arriving from South America adapt no matter how well they do over there. I would be interested to hear your thoughts Devil on why you feel Damiao would work better than Huntelaar.

  27. devilgunner says:

    hiya GoonerB.

Let’s start on the RVP miss or no miss. I would say we do not miss the RVP which left us. We would miss the RVP of 5 years ago but not the RVP of last year. Why???

Well to begin with RVP was too much a central figure of whom everything went through.

Would Podolski have worked FOR him?? Poldi works for the team not for one person.

Would Gervinho be the player we have seen up till now this season? I do not think so because with RVP Gervinho was always on the wings. Now he can interchange with Poldi, Cazorla and Giroud during the game

Would Giroud have been bought to warm up the bench?? We enjoyed seeing Chamack scoring until RVP came back. Then he was dropped when he was scoring and unfortunately became a figure of fun when he is not. The same would have happened with RVP. And suddenly Manure are looking too narrow in their games. anything to do with him in their team? One cant help noticing this.

Would his ego have got in the way of the team development? I would say yes since it was all about him and not about the team. Like TH14 andCF04 before him. It was ME, ME and if there was a bit more it should be ME.

Would the playing style we now enjoy seeing be the same with him in the side? I do not think so since we now attack through the centre, left and right and we are not that much narrow now. our team is opening up and we are enjoying it. Before it was….stop the Pussy score and you stop AFC. Now Gerv has 6, Poldi has 4, Theo has 4, Giroud 2. you do not know where the next goal is going to come from.

Now Damiao………….Let us for one moment omit the travelling and the fact that he is south american. On that point you and Rico are right……I did not consider that.

However. He is still young and can be moulded. I have seen him in a couple of games for his club and he thrives on short passes. He can shoot with both feet and is very good with his back to goal and in linking up play between the midfield and the wings. He can start moves and be at the end of them, in the same manner Giroud did against West ham when he scored.

And the added bonus is that he has a very good sell on value since if he does well his stock will grow.

Personally I prefer Lewandowski over both Huntelaar (who I like) and Damiao.

  28. devilgunner says:

He also has scored 72 goals in 122 games for Internacional.

A very high statistic and he also plays for the Brazil national team.

  29. GoonerB says:

Well you have sold me Devil on both the RVP and Damiao points. I hope you are not in sales Devil because based on that you would have me buying anything from you. On a serious note it seems that what we need is a prolific striker who will play for the team rather than themsel,f who can fit in our system of forwards that rotate in and out of different attacking positions, and can link up well with the players around him. Not asking for so much! If Lewandowski or Damiao is that player get them AW and complete the team.

  30. DutchGooner10 says:

    Afternoon Goonerdom worshippers,

Pat Holland gone. Not surprised. Seen a couple of youngster games and read a few match reports. Couldn’t find any excitement. Thought it was a bad omen dangling over his head considering the umpteen crop of talent available. There should’ve been enough goosebumps for a blind man to read and make him feel over-stimulated while processing it.

Nigel fine summary of a still to unfold season. Like to add some concerns if I may. Rather than a spring-heeled outburst focus for a 100 mtrs qualifier we started the season -like foregones before- in a marathon fashion. Relatively speaking from a fresh memory, namely the worst start in 50 years, our current 2012/13 run is encouraging. So the post frames a fair and balanced assessment of our viable position in a new race to glory. But I say when it draws blood you can kill it. At times I’m missing the predatory ruthlessness to do business in a dominant spell. Sure, a match lasts 90 minutes but it can be over in 10. At times I feel we heap unnecessary pressure on ourselves, letting opponents of any class or standing determine when we should lock the battle in trenches. While the goal difference is still shallow. Such prevents the fluidity and creativity which our technical style is globally renowned for.

Devil you know I’m all for Damiao been posting vids of him in the past. I want a bit of Samba in the squad. If only for ooohs and aaaahs roaring from the crowd throats and the introduction of steel band drummers in the stadium. Anyway. Pure quality shouldn’t make international duty a deal breaker even for Airmiles collectors like South-Americans earning bread and butter in Europe. Huntelaar is too much of a poacher, hardly creates on his own if service leaves wanting.

  31. rico says:

Is Theo Walcott really all ‘me me me’?

I beg to differ, he has only said he prefers to play central. TV said he preferred to play in central defence and not Lb, Kos said the same about playing Rb, as did JD when he was asked to play Rb…

  32. DutchGooner10 says:

Hiya Rico agree chances, disagree on Huntelaar playing second violin. He’s known for dressing room temper and tantrums if not considered a starter.

  33. rico says:

Hi Tlail, i think we’d all prefer Falcao 😉

Fair enough Dg, I don’t know too much about his tantrums, we don’t need players like that joining us, we have a pretty settled and happy camp right now….

  34. goonster says:

hahahahahah DG you really are getting old. hey i volunteer to drive you to the “old peoples’ home” right here in raleigh! hey guys, how’s it going? been so busy. hey adam, i missed ya big guy. rico, rico, rico, what ll i do without you? hey where the heck is kev???

  35. DutchGooner10 says:

There he is!! Our Goonster. Fine mate, we were afraid you went campaign trailing for Obama, the guy can use a bit of HH ‘Yes we can’.

Overhere it’s tedious talk about government formation all day long. And of course the worst is yet to come from the crisis. Leafs turn brown, yellow and anything between. Christmas is already taking over supermarkets and shopping windows. And according to Agag, who visited Amsterdam in a thunderbolt flash last weekend, it’s already freezing to a degree we can soon expect polar bears as illegal immigrants. 😉

  36. DutchGooner10 says:

Ohh and she got lost a lot. Complaining about how things lookalike. I wonder if all the palm trees look that much different.

  37. arsenal11730 says:

Good afternoon Gents. I believe we missed a gem in Mirillas when he chose Everton over us.He looks a decent finisher who works hard

  38. goonster says:

hahahahah DG10 you crack me up……..gosh i wish she visited my hometown though. its much more fun down there than dumb old amsterdam, yuck. anyway how re ya fella? what’s new? have we signed anyone yet?

  39. DutchGooner10 says:

Goonster like Christmas is disconnected with appropriate seasonal timing so is the transfer window. Since mid September they have refueled the bollocks machine. And it’s gearing up as we speak. Come January it’s rumoured we be spending 35 mln pounds on one lap dance leaving not to tip the waitress.

  40. goonster says:

howdy maam…..y’all worried about lil ol me?? awwww well i ve been kinda too busy. (there am finally americanized am sure my poor old mother wont even recognise me, God help me)

  41. Will XL says:

Hi all. Regarding rvp. Sure, I’m one of us who feels extremely betrayed by him, but I’m also one who feels this team would definitely be better with him spearheading the attack. Any team would. The fact that each and every one of us was disappointed with losing him shows that we all know that. Fortunately, what we also know is that losing one player doesn’t make a team like arsenal incapable of success… As a player, Rvp is extremely intelligent and he looks wonderful whether he drops deep or stays in the head. He was never a selfish player for Arsenal, and the goals he scored for us were mostly because we had noone else who would. He would be capable of fitting perfectly into this squad. The problem after all the hoopla in the summer is that he would have become a distraction. His attitude after forcing his stay would prove crucial. Such a pity that he is a selfish person. I would have loved to see the fluidity of our squad with him in it. Such a versatile player.

  42. goonster says:

am sorry adam been working my butt off these past few weeks. so what’s new? i see bentdner is running his mouth. why cant that pink boot tosser shut learn to keep his gob shut? christ.

  43. Will XL says:

in other news, Boston is great! I’m having a blast. Yesterday i wore last years away shirt and i got 3 compliments. One from a 10 year old who said seeing it made him happy. That was great to see. New generation of Gooners! Some parts of the city look just like London too i hear. 🙂 catch up with you all later.

  44. goonster says:

hey lee, thanks my man. this damned work wont kill me that’s for sure. how re you my man? the interlull is killing y’all in europe right? well guess what’s killing me over here…….grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

  45. Micko says:

Afternoon all, another good post Nigel, agree with nearly everything you say there.
Still think we’re a bit short in depth though, I wouldn’t want to be pinning my hopes on Diaby and Rosicky if we hit a sticky patch.

Adam 11.19, excuse my French but don’t you mean ‘Le Oeuf ‘

  46. Micko says:

Stan, are you back from one of those long convoys now, can just picture you behind the wheel on your CB radio.

  47. goonster says:

hahahaah micko me old pal…..radio huh? maam i dont know maybe christmas but maybe i ll just show up in reading. what do you say?

  48. rico says:

Glorious day out in the semi-sticks too, breezy but absolutely lovely 🙂

Reading is good goonie, you’d love it there 😉

  49. rico says:

I did Adam, I call them every six months and they usually come up with something similar … Also cancelled my Espn which was free for three months – will get to see Afc first though 🙂

  50. goonster says:

fantasized adam??? what are you getting at? maam reading huh? ok i ll give it a whirl. i missed you guys. couldnt blog for weeks. didnt even see us rip west ham a new one. hopefully i can see the norwich game. any injury to report guys? apart from theo that is.

  51. Adam says:

All my short stories are finished thank you Stan. I just need a publisher although I have been thinking of doing it myself online.
I am in Holland before Christmas to see my Dutch friends in Hilversulm and Arnhem. Don’t suppose you’ll be there though? 🙂

  52. DutchGooner10 says:

Will XL Boston is called ‘the unofficial capital of New England’ guess that claim has some substance by your account. Nice to hear we have support there as well who do voice their allegiance. We haven’t heard Kroenke since the infamous love letter.

    RVP

About he-who-shall-not-be-named, the grudges I hold against him is; he threw us carelessly over his shoulder, like him just finishing a hotdog and in need to dispose the napkin moulded ball without much thought. I mean his preferred destination burnt all bridges beyond repair. Making it impossible to EVER return, even after his professional playing career as a lost son. Now that’s cutting the umbilical cord from the kid within.

  53. goonster says:

nah AK said said stay put. so i gotta. he’s right though and i hate it when he’s right. That little smug bastard. grrrrrrrrrrrr

  54. DutchGooner10 says:

  55. Adam says:

Just phoned Sky and got put on hold for 20 minutes on an 084 something number, being charged so much a minute plus a connection charge and I am still in a queue listening to some screeching idiot that sounds Rylon or whatever his name is, from the X factor. I think I’ll just pay the bill instead.

  56. stevepalmer1 says:

    Afternoon all, or early evening,
Nice one Tuffers you have written a nice peice there mate kinda puts whoever has been away on holiday in the picture right away and also shows us exactly where we are now. Ginger Hater, read your post yesterday and that was excelent as well i did leave a long worded comment in answer to it but wordpress binned it and i got the hump but a well written piece. We seem to have some blinding writers among us and i’m sure Ricolicious loves it she has been amazing as well . Bloody internationals getting in the way of our march, are these planned to put us off our game, it won’t work FA this is our year ha ha

  57. Adam says:

Agreed Lee. Just cost me a few quid and I never got to speak to anyone. Perhaps I’ll get Gary McKinnon to connect me. 🙂

  58. DutchGooner10 says:

    SP Afternoon.

That’s what we all like here on HH, the dynamics instead of one dimensional debates lead by someone with gambonitis. No day is one topic or colour between the lines please.

  59. rico says:

    Ha ha Dg, very good…

Adam – that must have been painful, why so long, I got through in seconds, usually do after selecting the ‘i want to leave’ option on the automated system 😉

  60. rico says:

Afternoon Steve – I sure am loving it, I could get used to this not having to write a post thingy 😉

Wonder if gambon is still banging his Kos is c**p and Wenger out drum…..

  62. Micko says:

The old double bluff and shuffle rico, whenever I tried calling their bluff they’d always call mine……….
Steve, can’t live with them, can’t shoot em either.

Wimps would be growing grass on their belly if hit by this flu. 😉

  66. stevepalmer1 says:

I must admit i’m normally lucky when flu’s are doing their rounds but when it gets you your buggered wouldn’t wish this even on gambon

  67. JW says:

‘evening all, Blimey that sounds like Dixon of Dock Green!

Very late start today, I’ve been at the hospital this morning for a check, all is well but I’ve got to eat more fruit and veg. Still that’s a small price to pay.

    Nice post Nigel, thank’s.

I’m not too disapointed with our current league position. If we cut out the silly point dropping to lower status clubs I reckon we will do pretty well.

  68. rico says:

Dg – I did see a few posts where he asked people to lessen the insults. You wouldn’t think he’d have to do that really, all being adults and all that….

  69. rico says:

JW, that and Z Cars were my favs back in the day…

Good to hear that you have had the once over and all is good, tsk tsk re not eating your essentials 😉

  70. stevepalmer1 says:

Got to say i just paid my sky £90 quid and i have to say that its a complete take on repeats repeats and the odd game from Manchester and what also gauls me is the fact that i also have to pay for that paedo channel the BBC

  71. JW says:

    Rico,

There’s no chance of me not eating them after being shut up in a very small room with two female dietitians and my own sweet wife all intent on convincing me that f&v is essential for my future well-being.

Ah well! off for the first of many fibre filled meals. 🙂

  72. Lewis says:

    Evening all,

Just read this on bbc app:

‘Harry Redknapp has warned Croatia that Wales’ Gareth Bale is in the class of Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi.’

Hahaha, that Redknapp is such a joker.

  73. DutchGooner10 says:

Lewis 2 pieces of fruit and a portion of veggies a day keeps the doctor away. Glad to hear the check went according to the family wishes.

  74. rico says:

Off to get dinner, back in a bit…

5 a day Dg, that’s what the Drs here in the UK tell us, in fact now they are stretching that to 7 😮

  75. agirlagunner says:

Boo!! Another good one Nigel. 🙂 Our start to the season has been quite encouraging. 🙂 And I feel heartened by the fact that those returning from injury aren’t half-bad players. 😉

Hello, all! All jetlagged grrr. My flight from Brussels was cancelled and the next one delayed. On a happy note, hello again, 32 degree weather!!

  76. rico says:

Just watching the England under 21’s whilst cooking, Butland isn’t afraid to come out for a cross, maybe signing him wouldn’t be such a bad idea 😉

    back in a bit…

  77. arsenal11730 says:

Rico I mentioned Butland a few days ago and i like him alot.
He will be fighting Hart for the shirt.
    Cheers

  78. stevepalmer1 says:

Englands game maybe postponed with a waterlogged ground they have a roof and they haven’t closed it can you believe it and its pissing down. Adam your a hard man:)

  79. stevepalmer1 says:

Maybe a gambling scam been found out. First thing the officials would have done was to close the roof when they got there

  80. stevepalmer1 says:

None of our players involved tonight so who gives a hoot but if it goes on tomorow i bet our boys will come into the equasion

  81. Micko says:

The pitch looks like a quagmire, whats the point of the roof if your still gonna get pished on, what a fcuk up.
Ireland 2 nil against the mighty Faroe Islands.

  82. rico says:

Who is there Steve, Gibbs and Ox isn’t it. They are saying the game could still be played tonight…

England need to win this, Woy won’t mess with the starting 11, surely the same team that has been submitted will have to start..

  83. stevepalmer1 says:

There is no way it will be played tonight they just don’t want you to turn off thats all televise another game pronto

  84. rico says:

And not shutting the roof will keep it from being played tomorrow too

ha ha Micko, can they still qualify or is the WC campaign over?

  85. rico says:

I’m off to watch the great british bake off final….

you all have a good evening, catch up tomorrow..

    Night all….

  86. Micko says:

rico, Germany will walk the group, the Irish have to battle it out for the all important 2nd place spot.
Did I just hear Merts scored for Germany, Kev will be happy.

Steve, get yourself down The Vine for a couple of sherbets, sounds like you deserve it after the week you’ve had.

  87. nigel tufnel says:

Again, great job by olivier to get in position. He took a step back to get space in front of the defenders. We all see his excellent movement and instincts

  88. allezkev says:

    Stanley………!!!!!

Where the devil have you been?
You’ve not been on ‘jankers’ again???
    Working hard eh…?!
You keep your nose clean young man…

    BFG scored did he Mick..?
Yuss my dear, that is good news.

Tuffers, well done for the last two days.
    Very good efforts mate…

Seems, at this rate Rico, that you’ll soon be able to put your feet up.
We’ll soon boast as many authors as that ‘other’ blog… 😉

  89. allezkev says:

So Pat Holland has gone, with Steve Gatting taking his place.
Not really sure why Gatting didn’t get the gig in the first place?

All the coaches in the Academy, seemingly stepping up one position.

Jack, Sagna and Frimmers all due to play a behind-closed-doors friendly vs Chelsea, in order to enhance their fitness.

Huntelaar being strongly linked, by his agent possibly???

Yes, of course, the January Window is approaching.
    Only 10+ weeks to go….. Yawn!!! 🙂

Don’t be suprised or too disappointed, fellow Gooners, if Arsene signs absolutely nobody…
    He has ‘previous’… 😉

  90. Down under but not down hearted says:

Morning rico, long time no comment from me, been very busy lately.
Great goal by giroud last night, hopefully he comes back and bangs in a couple on sat vs Norwich. I see the Serbs have been doing what they do best again… Disgraceful! Does anyone know if this is the last interlull for the year?

  91. allezkev says:

Wonder if, despite my scepticism, Wenger will make a move for Llorente this January.
With Man City & Chelsea focusing on Falcao, January would seem the optimum time to bid for the Spanish Intetnational.
If Wenger leaves it until the summer, when Llorente is a Bosman, then he can kiss goodbye to the Bilbao centre-forward. City & Chesea will just blow Wrnger away, financially.
So it’s January or bust for AFC & Llorente I suspect?

  92. Down under but not down hearted says:

I still read everyday rico, just been flat out with work and family commitments. That’s fantastic news, I hate internationals!!! Loving the guest posts lately, definitely the best arsenal blog!!!
