I know the takeover at our club is the main topic of conversation so I’ll keep today’s post short and sweet.

Over the last few months we have heard all sorts of rumours about Pat Rice – some suggest he is going to retire this summer, others suggest otherwise but until Rice himself confirms he is retiring, we have to assume he’ll be sat in the same place next season and beyond.

Jack Wilshere though believes that during the game on Sunday Jens Lehmann’s presence on the pitch was like having an β€˜on-pitch assistant manager’.

Our old German stepped in at the last-minute on Saturday at Bloomfield Road after Manuel Almunia injured his knee in the warm-up.

We weren’t long into the game before Lehmann was barking instructions at our defenders; he also had a bit to say at half-time according to some. Saturday was Lehmann’s first competitive start since May last year but Jack Wilshere believed he was trying desperately trying to help gain the kind of spirit which helped us win the league in 2004.

Jack had this to say:

He was brilliant, he was only called in ten minutes before kick-off but it was great to have him around.

He’s been there, done it all and was part of the β€˜Invincibles’ so he knows what it takes to win the title. And we want to be like the β€˜Invincibles’ too.

He was a bit like an assistant manager on the pitch. He was telling us what it is like and was giving a team-talk at half time.

He is so passionate, you could see that. He was screaming and shouting at everyone.

I remember him being a bit crazy and a bit of a character before. But he looks after himself and is great to learn from. He’s 41 and he’s got a better body than me!

Jack Wilshere – I don’t think so πŸ˜‰

Jack also believes that our win against Blackpool kept us in with a shout for the title:

We are delighted because we knew that if we had lost on Sunday it could have been all over, we are delighted with the three points.

We are chasing Manchester United – we have got a game in hand and they have still got to come to Emirates Stadium. We are confident they will drop points so we just have to keep playing like we did today and getting three points.

There is a lot of pressure on us now in every game and we dealt with that pressure well today. Our fans were brilliant, like always, and they were behind us which was important.

Cesc was back and he got us passing again. It was flowing well.

We won Jack, now we need more of the same in the next game…..

Anyway, back to the takeover debate, I know you want to…….Β  πŸ™‚
