Going on from the talk about who should play at which level for their country, I was looking around to see who from our club is making an impact at under 17 level.

One name stood out and that was Kyle Ebecilio, Dutch Number 6 below. ( That was my number in my playing days πŸ™‚ )

Just what is it about Orange?? .....

Kyle arrived at Arsenal from Feyenoord in 2010 and in February this year our club announced that he had signed his first professional contract.

No doubt many of us thought, β€˜woopee’, another kid signed on, another big wage to pay but this kid seems to have what it takes. He’s from a footballing family; he has a brother at Ajax and a cousin at Chelsea so it’s obviously in their blood to play the game we all love.

His brother Lorenzo is a proper winger, could be worth thinking about πŸ˜‰

I digress – Kyle was signed from Feyenoord, the club that now has many players representing their country at under seventeen level, the club that our very own Ryo Miyaichi is on loan to at the moment.

Kyle Ebecilio has just helped his country to a 2-0 victory over Germany, the same Germany that everyone bleets on about being the greatest right now in the way they bring through their youth players.

The game was at 1-0 until four minutes from the end but then Anass Achahbar played Kyle Ebecilio a ball behind the defence and our boy calmly finished to clinch a 2-0 win.

He said it was β€˜a goal made at Feyenoord’.

Ebecilio may have left the Rotterdam club to join us last summer but Feyenoord still had five players representing their country. He had this to say after the game:

It was a difficult game but the team worked hard and we did very well, I worked hard too but in the first half I didn’t play so well, I was much better in the second half. It was a good goal, I used to play with Anass at Feyenoord, and we used to do that a lot.

Kyle was a regular in the qualifying rounds to this competition until he was sent off in the last game against Ukraine. The Netherlands were already through, he missed three games in the elite round. This in turn meant he had to follow the tournament in Rotterdam from afar and it was a nervy affair for our man.

I was very thankful to the team that they made it through the elite round and I’m happy to be back in the squad for the finals. I couldn’t see the games in Holland but one of my team-mates was calling me all the time when there was a goal or something.

The Dutch coach,Stuivenberg was delighted to be able to turn to Ebecilio again.

He was very important, especially against Emre Can from Germany, a very strong player, both with the ball and physically. He is the only one that could really compete with him so I am happy that he is back.

Ebecillio now believes the team are together after losing a friendly against Can.

We lost 2-1, but that was our first game all together as the national team,. It was quite difficult. Now the team are playing much better than before. Everyone is now a team player and we work for each other, we know what to do on the pitch.

Kyle may only be seventeen years old but the way his career is going, it won’t be too long before we see him playing for the first team, he has already played a few games for the reserves. Isn’t it just a shame he’s not five years older…

Ryo Miyaichi is currently on loan at Kyles old club – he’s only eighteen years old and until he gets his visa, he cannot join us.
This season to date he has played in eleven games, scored three goals and set up four, not bad really for such a young one.

Looking at how many players from Feyenood are already representing their country at under 17 level, would it be wise to try and bring Ryo back this summer, or would it make more sense to leave him where he is for one more season?

After all, we know one player who came from there don’t we and he’s pretty good these days….

Finally, speculation is mounting that Thomas Vemaelen will return to the side to face Stoke City on Sunday, while Fabregas, Djourou and Nasri are still doubts. No doubt Wenger will tell us more during his press conference.

That’s it folks, have a good day……
