Arsene wants Mulumbu! Flamini set to miss the big month & grinding out a result…..

Morning all.

Well that was a tricky encounter and we made hard work of that match against Crystal Palace, but hard work was required and that’s just what the players put in. A lot of it.

It was funny old game, the returning Mathieu Flamini had to go off  very soon after we kicked off with what looked like a groin injury, Mikel Arteta, having put us a goal up through a penalty, also went off but this wasn’t by choice. Well, actually it was, referee Chris Foy’s choice though! As soon as the incident took place I thought ‘he’s off’ as Chamakh looked like he could go through on goal but with the benefit of a replay, the decision looked harsh. Not only did we have other players who could have easily cut across to prevent Chamakh from scoring, it also looked like Chamakh actually made the first push.

Will Arsene Wenger decide to appeal? I don’t know of course and with the penalty being just the one match ban, he may very well not. We know the FA would love to award an extra game to Arteta’s ban for a ‘frivolous appeal’, even though it clearly wouldn’t be.

Talking of decisions that didn’t go our way, Serge Gnabry, who had come on for Flamini, was brought down on the edge of the penalty area. On another day, with a different set of officials, a penalty could have easily been awarded instead of a free-kick but it was the latter and we couldn’t make it count.

Shortly after half-time, the same player burst into the penalty area and was wiped out by Adlene Guedioura. No doubts this time and up stepped Mikel Arteta to fire home. Finally, we had broken the deadlock.

I loved reading this:

On BT Sport, former referee Mark Halsey says he would only have given a yellow for the challenge, while Michael Owen, a card-carrying member of the strikers’ union, says Foy made the correct decision.

So we were down to ten men after the sending off of our captain and we only had a one goal advantage with twenty five minutes of the game left..

(Arsene Wenger made a change, bringing on Jack Wilshere for Santi Cazorla and the Englishman didn’t disappoint did he? Neither did Nacho Monreal when he came on Serge Gnabry later in the game.)

The alarm clocks went off inside the Palace players and they certainly woke up and caused us a few problems, but not ones we couldn’t deal with.

Wojciech Szczesny, who was awarded the MOTM award after the game showed just how good he can be when he made two outstanding saves. The first was from Joel Ward and the big Pole got the slightest of touches on the ball but enough to deflect it onto the crossbar and out. The second shot, which came after the resulting corner, looked destined for the net from the boot of Jedinak but somehow, our keeper, at full stretch, manage to get a very strong hand on the ball to keep it out. Stunning.

As much as Palace huffed and puffed and gave their all to grab an equaliser, three minutes before time, we broke away down the left with Ramsey, Giroud made a run into the penalty area, the Welshman looked up, picked him out and the big man headed home.

Game over.

We were far from our best again, even with eleven on the pitch we struggled to break down a side who set-up to nullify our creative players and we have to find a way to get around that and fast.

Going down to ten didn’t help our cause in the second half but as it turns out, it didn’t help us lose points either and credit has to go to the players for digging in, working hard and grinding out a result.

I honestly don’t think we’d have done that a year ago…..

I’ll leave you to pick the bones out of the game….

Suggestion is that Mathieu Flamini could be sidelined for three weeks which is a huge blow ahead of a tough month for us. Chelsea and Liverpool at home over the next week and at the end of the month we travel to Old Trafford. Hopefully, he’ll be back in time for that one.

Bit of transfer gossip to finish with and according to The Mirror, we are plotting a £7million January bid for West Brom midfield enforcer Youssouf Mulumbu. Arsene Wenger had the 26-year-old watched at Stoke a week ago and was given glowing reports on his performance.

I doubt Arsene Wenger would need a scout to tell him what the player is like, he was part of a very good West Brom side which held us to a draw..

That’s your lot….

    Morning all.
Job done….that was very important, as with the tough month ahead, every point is vital.
Great post Rico, and spot on.
Chamakh leant into Arteta, legs tangled and over they went.
I will go as far as to say we should have got the freekick, and if any card was shown, Chamakh should have copped a yellow.
Terrible decision, but hey, we are used to them.

  2. AndrewH says:

Morning Rico and all. Very accurate write-up. I think our bench is just starting to look how we want it. Bringing on Gnabry who again was instrumental in our taking the lead, Wilshire who added that bit of urgency and running, and Monreal who thought he was Brazilian for a dribble and got stuck in all over, They all showed we are getting there with the depth of squad needed.

  3. ozgunner says:

Hello all – i thought as the incident happened dead cert red – replays showed differently. Unfortunately Refs don’t get replays

    Morning All.

Morning Rico, great post, that’s just how I saw the game…

Very impressed with Mesut Ozil, he looks as if he’s been playing with Arsenal for a couple of years, not a couple of months!

Thought that Sagna had a stand out game. I really don’t wanna see him leave…

Again, I was very impressed with Monreal…
He is a very good team man…

Losing Flamini is a massive blow, with November coming up. Wenger doesn’t have an alternative for Mathieu’s role, so maybe he’ll have to make some slight tactical adjustments to compensate?!

  5. Tim says:

morning all,Chris foy must be hitting his head for trying to bring us down in vain, even though it was not our usual stuff every point either ugly or clinical is important ,I hope we stand up in the coming weeks.

  6. BrainwashedKev says:

Jack looked very fit and full if running and tackling.
He’ll be a perfect fit, in our midfield, for all the blood and thunder EPL games coming up…

It would be nice to get some good news on the injury front, with Walcott coming back and possibly one or two others…

Gotta feeling that Zelalem and Rosicky will be the midfield against the Chavs this Tuesday.

Frimpong coming in to do the Flamini role could be productive?

Vermaelen, Monreal, Fabianski/Vivaino, Jenkinson, Bendtner, Miyaichi, Park, get them all match-fit as we’re gonna need some of during the November/December slog up to the New Year and January Window…

  7. Eugene Osei Amoakohene says:

congrats to we all yesday.i tink losing snr player Flamini wil be big problem.may our two partners carzola n Ozil work perfectly agaist chelsea n lipoooool.gunners al de way

  8. Scott from Ozil says:

Oz, fair call on refs being put on the spot, but he was behind play and had a clear view.
When we saw it on tv, it was from a very poor angle so he actually had a better view than us.
His linesman, who was side on so could not possibly see which player ran off line to cause the clash, was waving his flag immediately, and i wonder if Foy took advantage of that…he has a scapegoat.
Terrible call, but at least it didn’t cost us points.
Anyway, Chelski next…play the kids, i reckon.

  9. gunnerpete says:

BUT will AW play Vermaelen in the Flamini role which would be a revelation or will he stick to another tip tappy player with no strength? I suspect the latter because he has had many opportunities to do so in the past and has never taken them, hence yet again we lose to teams because we have a hole in midfield big enough to drive a bus through.

  10. stevepalmer1 says:

Morning all nice write up Rico. Arteta’s challenge was a yellow card at best, Chamak’s last touch was not going towards goal more down the wing, scoring chance no way. Pundits make me laugh MOTM Szezesney, for one save and an attempt to touch a shot which never moved. I saw this as the pundits way of saying we were lucky, personally I felt that what Ramsey did and how hard Giroud worked would have been better candidates, not forgetting our other players as well. I watched the highlights again with Liniker this morning and Artetas sending off was never even mentioned nor shown after the game a dead giveaway that it was not a sending off. But at the end of the day another fine 3 points.

  11. rico says:

Morning Kev, Monreal was excellent, very unlucky not to have scored, Sagna and the entire back five were also very good..

  12. rico says:

Morning Ah. Gnabry did very well, he is one of a few players who will run at the oppo’s defence, and that’s what will bring us reward as showed yesterday. Theo needs to do that more when he comes back, and Ox…

🙂 Tim, he really doesn’t like us does he, he tried real hard last season when we played Everton at home, he allowed them to do pretty much what they liked…

  13. potter says:

Owen’s argument was that the collision prevented a goalscoring opportunity. However with Chamakh’s sprinting speed I reckon at least two players could have got back before he arrived. I would not be surprised if half of our away support could have got there quicker either. One thing is certain though and that is that Foy definitely couldn’t, he made his decision from a distance and really if anything should have shown a yellow. Still water under the bridge now and luckily Arteta will miss the Chelsea cup match in which he might not have played anyway taking Flamini’s injury into account , so it’s best not to make waves. Still the longer we can stay up there the better , it will give us insurance for when the inevitable slip up comes .

  14. tsgh says:

    Good and accurate write-up.

I am not worried about our DM position cover at all. AW just has to have the bottle to play or give 1 or 2 of our youngsters a chance.

I know a lot of fans do not rate Frimpong but 2 or 3 years ago when we had to win CL qualifier against Udinese Frimpong did not put a foot wrong. He had surgery in the summer and has not featured yet but he is getting back to his best in training from what I have heard…

Kev- Nico Yennaris is another option; he is back from injury and has been training with the seniors in the last few weeks.

I think we will see a midfield of Frimpong and JW as the pivots against Chelsea with Mozart playing behind B-something.

I wonder who will pair TV in central defence? CJ25 and Monreal will definitely start and I suspect Cazorla and Serge Gnabry.

  15. rico says:

Thanks Sp, had that happened anywhere else on the pitch, I reckon an award of a free kick would have been the most Foy would have given.

  16. rico says:

Good point Potter, mind you, I suspect Arteta would have started against Chelsea, as he did against West Brom, but we need him back and at his best for the Liverpool game…

Will be interesting to see who AW plays on Tuesday night.

Chelsea play City later, hope they get a few little knocks and a card or two 😉

  17. potter says:

Don’t think I would risk both Cazorla and Rosicky against Chelsea as an injury to one of those would curtail options for Dortmund, but then I am not making the decision. Which in itself is probably a good thing. I think we will see Arsenal lite play with a high percentage of young ones supplemented by T.V and Bendtner , interesting that he has pushed Monreal forward when he has come on as sub , Perhaps it’s one of his famous position changes starting out.

  18. rico says:

When did Frimpong last play a competitive game of football though?

Throwing him in against Chelsea could be a disaster…

  19. tsgh says:

His last competitive game was for Fulham last season on the last day when he got injured and had to have surgery on his knee.

He featured for the reserves too at the Erms about a month ago and was in the Ghana squad 2 weeks ago that beat Egypt 5-0 in the world cup play-offs.

Hayden is another option but I think he is more of a defender than a DM.

Zelalem just got back from injury and so I doubt will start. He is not tactical enough to be a DM yet imho…

  20. Xr!s says:

Who cares about what biased Owen has to say?! Many pundits said it’s no red,Chamakh made the first contact about 40yards away from goal and there were clash of legs, both fell. Chamakh is not known to be a sprinter and a great finisher,so not a goal-scoring chance. Arsenal shouldn’t appeal the suspension. I hope we set out a fairly strong team on tuesday and progress

  21. tsgh says:

Sagna has been excellent thus far. I know Piers Morgan criticized his commitment last Tuesday for the 2nd BVB goal but we all know Piers is a capital ‘C’.lol

Even last Tuesday Sagna kept Reus quiet when even Lahm (arguably the best RB now playing DM) could not keep Reus quiet in 2 games this season…

Like Kev, I think Sagna has been a great servant and should be made to stay IF he wants to.

  22. Steve says:

Saw a quote last night that Wenger would not appeal the red as Arteta was to be rested for the Chelsea match anyway. So it looks like a good opportunity for one of our youngsters to shine.

What a joke is BT Sport ? I suppose it’s what you get when a telephone company that knows nothing about TV or football chucks a load of money at a project. Where on earth did they get their pundits from ? Funniest comment came from David James – he doesn’t rate our keeper, thinks he’s unreliable. Yes David James, and he said it with a straight face.

  23. segun showande says:

morning all. another superb write up Rico. wenger’s boys show me another side to their game yesterday. ability to grind out result in a difficult game and readiness to fight for each other on the pitch. i want to see this performance against the likes of liverpool, chelsea and the manchester’s club. then i wil be in a position to give my honest position about this team. for now we’re doing prety well.

  24. potter says:

    Calamity himself !
Sagna should be made a good offer, his is the experience we can’t afford to start losing again.

  25. rico says:

That’s my point Ts, and just why I can’t see AW starting him against Chelsea – once we have beaten them and draw Bradford, maybe 😉

  26. rico says:

I’m all for Sagna staying too, this season he has been immense..

Back in a bit, need to get the woofa out before the heavens open…

  27. Hard Ogura says:

Anyway, all has been said but am for Vermo 5 to take on Flamini’s defensive position against Liverpool, Dort, Man U. etc until he comes back. Arteta can’t manage. Its true. He is more an attacking than defensive.

Give Vermo5 a chance and some minutes to get some confidence back. Just as he tries Monreal on left attack, Jenks on right attack, why not Vermo 5? Other teams have succeeded in a similar way, Luiz in Chelsea, Oshea in Man U, Pepe in Real Madrid, Yaya Toure in Bac etc.

Is it a personal grudge against a good team? Or something else?

  28. tsgh says:

H.O, TV has said in the past during his time at Ajax and with the national team that he would rather sit on the bench than play DM.

When he got back from injury last year the Belgium manager wanted to play him in DM and Vertoghen at LB but they both complained even though Van Buyten and Kompany had formed a solid partnership…

  29. BrainwashedKev says:

Yennaris, of course, I forgot about him.
Wonder if Olsson will see some action (from the bench) Ginge…

From what I’ve read about him, he’s taken his game up another level and might be on the cusp of following Gnabry into the senior squad…

  30. BrainwashedKev says:

    Afobe is fit again!
It might be a bit too soon for him, but could he possibly get a place on the bench vs Chavs?

    Hayden is a good call….

As I wrote yesterday, Chavs play today and have 48 hours grace before they visit the Grove…
Mourinho has a tricky rotational job to do. He can’t really rest anyone today, with City being the opponents…
Expect Ba to start against us Tuesday…

  31. potter says:

*Interesting team selections both ways. Maureen says their team will not be the first one but then their reserves are probably stronger than our kids. It’s a balancing act .
I reckon it’s a roaring log fire, a bottle of tempranillo, sit back and watch it all unfold with no pressure.

  32. tsgh says:

I agree Ollson has really improved. For Sweden u-19 he was super super quality. Against WBA when he came on he was immense but I think he also models his game on Rosicky and Arteta so if not the defensive answer we need against Oscar if he starts.

I would like to see Frimpong do to Oscar and co what he did to Nasri and Aguero in the CoC 2 years ago…

Yes Afobe is back but I doubt he ahead of Akpom or Sanogo…

Its a shame imho, he was rated by Henry, Van Persie and even Drogba as a future star but the curse ‘bit’ him …

Rico great post. Although a bit confusing, reading Arteta being send off and than mysteriously Houdini himself on the penalty spot to score our lead. Hahahahahaha. 😉

Credit to Palace for turning up against the league leaders as a proper football team instead of a blood thirsty orcs legion baring their rotting choppers.

    Hi Dg, Dna, Snap…

I suspected you were Rico re Bradford… I should have added Gervinho won’t be around to miss from half a yard in front of an open goal. lol

  41. DutchGooner10 says:

Potter you got the fine taste of things.

Will keep my eyes peeled for that Torres tip.

The complementary toast has my full approval. I always buy these olive oil grilled crusty toasts called panchillo’s (spelling) and top them with tapenade or carpaccio.

Simple recipe but always a crowd pleaser.

  42. Gunnerdna says:

Points on the board is important than what pundits/people thinks, there is no easy game in the PL, it’s so darn competitive. U couldn’t tell Sunderland is 20th in the league, so for all the haters we have 22 points from a possible 27, I don’t give a F who we already played.

  43. DutchGooner10 says:

    DNA

I wonder if Sunderland has the lungs to keep up this breath-down-their-necks tactic. They have to find their passing game at some point me thinks. Longer spells on the ball helps to stretch high peak stamina.

  44. Gunnerdna says:

Rico, they are all acting like the previous winners of the PL didn’t best the lesser teams to win the title. Sometimes I can’t believe afc is based in England, it’s the most hated team in the country. Did u saw the fan yesterday who was saying that Giroud is not arsenal quality? Someone pay him to do that. Imo

  45. Gunnerdna says:

DG, Sunderland will, they understand what the derby meant to the fans more than the Newcastle French Team.

  46. rico says:

I didn’t see that comment on Giroud Gdna and to be honest, even if I did, it wouldn’t bother me. Some fans just love to moan regardless and if there is someone who thinks Giroud isn’t good enough to be at Arsenal, then he/she clearly hasn’t been watching him play this season…

  47. BrainwashedKev says:

    £7million for Lewandowski…!!!

Blimey, there will be a stampede Rico.

His signing on fee and wages will be mega, but I would still sign him.
I was kinda thinking in terms of £12-£14 million for him myself, so if the Express is accurate (unlikely I know) then £7m is a steal…
Maybe Szczesny get get into his ear as well as the Germans we have, who must know him from their Bundesliga days?

  48. rico says:

I get that as game by game goes by, certain players will not play as well as they have done in other games and they may very well be criticised on that day.

They get praise when they deserve it and likewise when they have an off day..

Look at Aaron Ramsey, he has been in top top form so far this season, but Dortmund was his off night… Well, the first half 😉

  49. rico says:

There sure will Kev, seems Dortmund are desperate for him not to go to Bayern, but regardless of what offers they get, the player will no doubt decide.

I too would love him at Arsenal, if we are up near the top, we’d surely be tempting, the other clubs already have too many strikers 😉

Szczesny and Lew are best buddies apparently, fingers crossed 😉

  50. BrainwashedKev says:

That’s true Rico, but a problem we have as fans, is that we don’t always have all the info concerning a players’ health, therefore our criticisms can end up making us look harsh.

For example, many of us criticised Ozil’s performance against Dortmund, unaware as we were, of the fact that he was unwell and probably shouldn’t have played.

But he went out and fought for the team and did his best.
    That’s why I like him.

He might be a record signing, but he isn’t a ‘Billy Big Bollox’ (sorry Rico 😉 ) he is a team player, as is Giroud, Ramsey, BFG, Monreal and many others in this potentially great squad of ours…

  51. DutchGooner10 says:

    DNA

That’s a knock out pun for any conversation with a Barcode fan. Spot on with the French backbone regarding the derby.

    Afternoon Kev

Lovely use of the understatement regarding the stampede comment. Made me chuckle.

  52. BrainwashedKev says:

Yeah Rico, maybe Chez was having a word in his ear at the final whistle last Tuesday, about moving to North London…

I hope that Chelsea are still focused on Rooney, and therefore give us a clear run at Lewandowski, although ManYoo might be in for him as well…

  53. snaparse says:

really want us to get Suarez or Rooney but I won’t complain if we got Lewandowski dou………..but I prefer Suarez or Rooney plus I think they are far better players than people give them credit for especially Rooney and I’m not english

  54. BrainwashedKev says:

Hiya Dutch, long time mate… 🙂

Had a heavy night and am struggling today Dutch.
Lucky we had an extra hour in bed this morning… 😉

  55. rico says:

That’s very true Kev. Not just Ozil, we have had a few play when being sick.

I love the team ethic we now have, haven’t seen the team so together on the pitch in a while.

Totally agree re Ozil though, he’s not a player who struts around thinking he’s billy bollox 😉

  56. rico says:

Ha ha, hope he was Kev, just hope the dippers don’t think he’d be a good replacement for Suarez..

    You hung-over today?? 😉

  57. DutchGooner10 says:

Since Giroud found the necessary extra yards in his pace and has his timing set like a Swiss watch, I think we should only go for someone with a third leg.

Meaning lightning speed, technical brilliance and top shelf creativity.

What name belongs to those requirements, couldn’t care less.

  58. rico says:

snaparse, Suarez, Rooney, Lew – any one of those three would be perfect imho..

Just hope AW is thinking the same as all of us…

  59. snaparse says:

I know Rico, but knowing wenger and his issues with rotation it will b harse to freeze giroud out as lewy can only play up top whereas Suarez or Rooney can play behind

  60. DutchGooner10 says:

    Hangover Part III for Kev.

Been lazy myself me old china. All good intentions dead in the water for today. Just been busy like a bee all week. So I’m pardoned.

  61. GunnerDNA says:

Lew would improve the team massively and that’s all we should concerned about, not who is going to go to the bench. imo

  62. GunnerDNA says:

Man City starting 11: Hart, Zabaleta, Demichelis, Nastasic, Clichy, Garcia, Fernandinho, Nasri, Yaya Toure, Silva, Aguero

Chelsea: Cech; Ivanovic, Cahill, Terry, Cole; Ramires, Lampard; Hazard, Oscar, Schurrle; Torres

  63. DutchGooner10 says:

Trooper Kev? Cannon meat that is. You’re at least a few stripes above that rank. How’s that for some feel good aspirin?

  64. rico says:

    Good on you Kev, you’re a brave man… 😉

  65. DutchGooner10 says:

Dzeko will go for greener pastures in January if he’s ignored any longer.

What a way to pay credit to a player who single handedly served them their first title in decades.

  66. tsgh says:

I agree Snap. One reason I do not agree with the ‘he is no Arsenal quality’ mantra…

Even if footballers are over paid some of the comments fired from the terraces and on blogs are despicable imo.

  67. DutchGooner10 says:

    Underrated IMHO re Dzeko.

That’s my objection to all this cash flushing. It erodes the warmth the fan base can build for a player.

Every new multi-million face chips away at the appreciation for the core of a team.

  68. tsgh says:

Talking about millionaires purchases, the current BVB team have been with the club on average of 5 years that is what breeds loyalty and team ethics…

The likes of Hoffman and K Groskreutz have been with that team as long as JW, Yennaris and Frimp have been with us…

Kevin Groskreutz loves the club so much he said he would be a goalie when he was nearly sold…

Some bad news for us BVB club captain Kehl and Piszczek voted best defender in bundesliga last season are back in full training…

  69. GunnerDNA says:

Snap, i don’t understand what you are saying at 3:40, TV is the captain and he is on the bench, does that not make him feel wanted? First and foremost only 11 players can start a game and 7 on the bench, so players got to fight for their place in the match day squad, when a player knows he got to fight for his spot in the squad the team performs better, Giroud is playing well so far but he is no different than any other player in the squad, he should fight for his place just like anyone else. If Lew or Dzeko is available in Jan AW should try and get them because they will improve the squad. This is not about favoritism. imo

  73. rico says:

Chelsea just want it more it seems Gdna, City started really well but just couldn’t find the killer ball/shot..

Potter, what are you suggesting? 😉

  74. GunnerDNA says:

Rico, City needs to get Garcia off the field and put Toure at CM, Silva at AM and bring Dzeko, Navas or Negredo on. MP is over thinking this.

  75. tsgh says:

Allianz Atena is 66 to 67,000 only.

BVB is the most supported club in Germany and arguably Western Europe…

  76. rico says:

You should apply for Pellagrini’s job Gdna 😉

Only 13,000 difference then Ts, we coped with the Bayern lot last season …

  77. rico says:

Not even a booking for that on Torres, which would have resulted in the City player being sent off..

Makes a mockery of the Arteta red card…

  78. rico says:

Can’t believe Chelsea are getting away with so many bad challenges. Webb clearly still has his Manchester Utd shirt on…

  79. potter says:

Luck goes with the big teams again, dodgy pen at the Lane , and what was that defending all about at the bridge.Even so Terry handballs just outside the area and then elbows Aguero and surprisingly Webb does nothing.

  80. rico says:

Webb was a joke wasn’t he..

Didn’t see the penalty at WHL, their luck will no doubt run out at some stage…

Maybe it will come our way…

Hope you have your torches, candles and matches ready Potter.

  81. tsgh says:

Mourinho on afc game: “If they want afc to win a trophy, that’s a help. If they want a big game in London, they should play it on Weds.”

  82. tsgh says:

The spuddies have had 5 penalties already this season giving them 15 points. WoW….

    Luck or conspiracy? hmmm

  83. rico says:

Jose is right to a degree, making them play this afternoon and again on Tuesday evening is crazy..

Makes a change for us not to be the team going through that though, the fixtures seldom do us a favour…

  84. rico says:

That’s me done for another day..

    Stay safe all.

For us here in the Uk, torches and candles at the ready, the storms are are on their way…

    Night all…

  85. BrainwashedKev says:

Arsenal’s EPL title winning credentials, being totally written off by that fantastically successful ex-manager and coach Alan Hansen (?) was both predictable and expected.

I also welcome his comments, as they’ll hopefully be read by some our players and then rammed back down that over-the-hill Jock pundits throat..

Personally, I feel uncomfortable when the media heap praise on the Gunners.
I don’t want their praise, as it is usually tainted with the pundits/Journos hope, that Arsenal actually fall on their collective face…

Nope, I much more prefer the loathing and bile that the Press/Media, hurl in our direction…
So please Mr Hansen, and all your media buddies, get stuck in, give us fcuk all, and why change the habits of a lifetime…

  86. rico says:

How did you make it through until after midnight Kev? 😉

I don’t give a toss what Hanson and his cronies say, they sit there on their high horse spouting stuff like they think they are the only ones who know what they are talking about.

If they were that good, they’d all be in management/coaching instead of having their arses plonked on a sofa watching highlights on a Saturday night..

Let them write us off, who cares…..

    Morning all…

    Gusty old night…

  87. potter says:

Motd is symptomatic of the whole BBC set up, A group of talking heads earning more for doing nothing but spouting their views than they would if they ventured out and tried to put their ideas into practice in the real world

  88. potter says:

Still got the heavy rain, water table is high , lots of localised flooding, hose pipe ban due any moment. The wind gusts were strong but I cant see any damage from my office window.

  89. potter says:

I thought the media coverage was really poor. When they had the Tsunami last year they had moving graphics about where the damage was happening and following the path of the eye of the storm . All we got was rolling news repeating the unfortunate Newhaven incident coupled with hours old predictions about what might happen..

  90. rico says:

    Good.

I don’t understand why that young teenager who is now presumed dead, was messing about by the shore when the forecast was clear to all that things were going to get bad.

  91. potter says:

Some reports say that he was swimming in the waves . Sad but perhaps it’s the Darwin gene pool theory at work. ( If you want to delete that feel free ).
