Morning all.

No doubt everyone has seen the story about Robert Lewendowski being for sale in January for just Β£7 million by now, but in case you haven’t, it’s true. Well, according to many newspapers. Dortmund want to sell him and pocket a few pounds rather than let him walk away for free in the summer.

That’s cheap though, seriously cheap and a very very cunning move by Dortmund.

We all know that if the striker had a couple more years left on his contract, his value would be around the Β£50 million mark, if not more, so to set a valuation so low is doing one thing in my opinion and that’s opening up a bidding war between clubs in the Premier League and across Europe. It’s also sending out a huge message to Bayern Munich. Dortmund really don’t want their man to play for their biggest rival in Germany.

The price may start at Β£7 million, however, I very much doubt it will end at Β£7 million but if he is sold, I suspect it will be for an amount well short of his true value.

Chelsea, Manchester City will no doubt be ready to make a bid for the player, Manchester United might also be in the hunt as they don’t know what Rooney has planned and RvP isn’t getting any younger. Liverpool too.

But do they all have the cash that we do?

I would say no, not without selling first.

Brenda Rogers might see this as the perfect opportunity to sell Suarez and snap up the Polish striker, but Arsene Wenger could very well believe that Lewendowski is the final brick in our attacking wall. He’s hinted many times he wants a striker and he’d be hard pushed to find a better one, especially for the kind of price Dortmund might be willing to accept….

I sure hope so.

What he and the players need to do now is get through this next few weeks with flying colours.

First up is Chelsea in the Capital One Cup tomorrow night. That fixture is followed by Liverpool at home, Dortmund away and then, just before the players head off on international duty, we head to Old Trafford.

Four very big fixtures, four very difficult fixtures…..

Tomorrow night we’ll be without the injured Mathieu Flamini and the banned Mikel Arteta. The latter has been speaking about his sending off against Palace:

It was a very harsh decision to send me off. Chamakh kicks my fight foot, I have seen it on television. It is 40 yards away from goal too.

It is true that I tried to block him with my hand but then he came with his left foot into my right calf and then we were both on the floor. It was never a tackle from me.

Harsh as it may have been, Arsenal aren’t going to appeal the decision as Wenger had it in his mind to rest the player tomorrow night in any case so he should be at his best on Saturday. He’ll need to be.

But without Arteta and Flamini, who will Arsene Wenger put his trust in to be the rock in our midfield?

Emmanuel Frimpong,Β Nicholas Yennaris, or maybe the youngster,Β Alfred Mugabo ?

Or will Aaron Ramsey be expected to fill the role and play another 90 minutes?

Thank goodness that’s something Arsene Wenger will be worrying about and not me.Β Whatever he does, I hope it works out right as I’d really love for us to progress in this competition and go on to win it.

Transfer gossip:

Juan Guillermo Cuadrado Bello, a pacey winger who signed forΒ Fiorentina in the summer, having been on loan there for the previous season, was reportedly being watched by our scouts at the weekend. ApparentlyΒ Dick Law was in the stands watching together with the players agent Alessandro Lucci.

After being told by SkyItalia that our scout was in the crowd watching him, the player said:

I did not know, I learned from you now. It’s something that pleases me, but I’m happy here at Fiorentina and later we’ll see.

Fiorentina won the match 2-1 if you’re interested and both goals were scored by Cuadrado…

That’s it for another day….
