Morning all.

Maybe that heading should read, are Arsenal FC and some of the clubs players taking the mickey. Out of Manchester City of course.

Emmanuel Adebayor.

Signed for Β£7 million, sold forΒ Β£25 million.

Kolo Toure.Β

Signed for Β£150,000, sold for Β£16 million.

Samir Nasri.

Signed for Β£12 million – sold forΒ Β£25 million.

Gael Clichy.

Signed for Β£250,000, sold for Β£7 million.

Bacary Sagna.

Signed for Β£6 million, left on a free……

And of course, each one of those players have increased their wages after moving.

Let’s not kid ourselves that footballers are loyal, not these days. Sadly, one club players are a thing of the past or certainly a dying breed. I would bet that in the years ahead, very few players will do what the likes of Ryan Giggs and Steven Gerrard have done, certainly at the top level of the game.

We’ve had a few in the past who have begun and ended their career with Arsenal but certainly not of late. I think I’m right in saying that Tony Adams was the last player who started and ended his career with us.

And, the more overseas players our club signs, the less likely it is that any will want to stay until the day they retire. Dennis Bergkamp was a bit special wasn’t he and not only as a footballer but as a loyal man. He was happy, very happy and not even a rolling one year contract tempted him into leaving for a a final big payout at another club.

So when these players leave for big bucks, why are we fans so surprised, after all, in the real world, if another company offered you a similar job but you could earn an extra Β£10,000 a year, please don’t try and convince me that you wouldn’t take it. I know I would…

Yes of course these players might add a few medals and trophies to their name, but if push came to shove, they’d all admit that it’s the money which matters at the end of the week…..

And of course, players know where they can earn vast amounts of money, and mainly in England, that’s at Manchester City……

At least we had the best days out of Bacary Sagna and apart from Samir Nasri, I wasn’t too sad to see the back of any of them..

Let’s not forget the other Manchester club either.

Robin van Persie.

Signed for Β£2, 750,000 and sold to Utd for Β£22 million.

In monetary terms, all apart from Sagna were very good business transactions.

In footballing terms, the disaster was not truly replacing one or two of them….

World Cup:

Joel Campbell shone last night for Costa Rico, he scored a very good goal and grabbed an assist with a wonderful pass. He was here there and everywhere and clearly cheesed off the Uruguay defence as just before the game came to an end, he was victim of an awful challenge. I say challenge but it wasn’t even that, it was a just a wholehearted kick at our young striker and clearly it hurt!

Unsurprisingly the defender got shown his marching orders and will now miss the game against England.

I’m looking forward to watching more of Campbell during this World Cup, he looked good last night that can’t be denied and if he carries on playing with such confidence, he could very well be at The Emirates next season but it’s early days…

Poor old Gary Lewin eh, hope he doesn’t as his cousin to sort his recovery out, he’ll miss the next three months and suffer a couple of setbacks….

As for England. Many positives going forward but at the back, they always looked vulnerable. Wayne Rooney, well I think Roy Hodgson has a very big decision to make. Either drop him, or play him centrally as he just isn’t a left sided player….

That’s your lot for today, have a good one….
