Would You Ditch Szczesny For Cech? Arsenal Shine For England….

Morning All.

Bit of an Arsenal night for England. Kieran Gibbs, Danny Welbeck, Jack Wilshere and before the game ended, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain all donned the Three Lions shirt.

Jack was awarded the man of the match award and Welbeck scored two goals which secured the 3-1 victory over Slovenia. And as far as I know, there were no injuries to report. Theo Walcott was on the bench but didn’t get onto the pitch, he might during the friendly against Scotland but England v Scotland can get a bit feisty. We need him to get playing time though before Utd arrive at The Emirates on Saturday because we need him on the pitch.

The media are getting quite excited about how well Jack Wilshere is performing for his country, well I hope he can start getting the same plaudits whilst playing for his club because like a few, his game needs to step up a level.

Wojciech Szczesny is another. It’s clear he can be outstanding on his day and he proved that recently whilst on International duty but at Arsenal, it all seems a bit too easy for him. With David Ospina out injured long term, just 22 year old Emiliano Martinez is keeping him on his toes. Or not as the case maybe…

With Poland though, Artur Boruc, Lukasz Fabianski and even Grzegorz Sandomierski are breathing down his neck for that number one spot and clearly, the competition brings out the best in our keeper but right now, he hasn’t got that at Arsenal has he and it shows.

It was only a matter of time before we were linked with Petr Cech after the Chelsea number one Thibaut Courtois told the world than he thought Cech should leave in order to get first team football:

As a goalkeeper you want to play. If I was in that situation where I didn’t play a lot, then I would leave too.

I think Petr is still a goalkeeper with a lot of quality and one of the best there is.

One could argue that when Fabianski left us in the summer, we lost the more consistent of the two Polish goal keepers, we certainly lost the more focussed and he’s clearly improved having played each week for Swansea.

Cech is only 32 years old, he has a good few years left at the top of his game. He’s the kind of keeper who will win points single handedly, just has he has so often done for Chelsea but his days are done there unless Courtois pics up an injury.

The Sun reckon Arsene Wenger is going to try and sign Petr Cech for £7 million.

Sadly, £7 million is very unlikely to be his value and Jose is very unlikely to do business with Arsene Wenger even if it was.

But I’d love to see him at Arsenal, its about time we had a top class keeper, one who Martinez can really learn from….

That’s it for Sunday, have a good day all….

Chelsea fan here. If you got Cech for anything south of £15m you’d have a great deal on your hands. I’d be gutted to see him at a rival, but given everything he has given to the club, and factoring in the fact that he is an absolute gentleman, I would learn to live with it, if he asked to stay in London because of his family or something. We’d be alright anyway, until you plug the holes in front of the goalkeeper.

I’d take Cech for sure.
I still think Szczesny will be a super keeper, but he needs something, and maybe having his ego take a hit will do it.
Morning all.

All Wenger would be doing, in signing Petr Cech, would be to confirm what a berk he was in not signing him in the first place…

Mourinho would never sell him to Wenger…

Mourinho had an ego the size of Patagonia, he cannot handle the respect that is afforded Wenger, whilst he is, for all his achievements, held in such contempt in many quarters…

Despite Wenger’s lack of recent success, when he comments of any football related subject, his opinions carry the kind of weight that Mourinho can only dream of when he opens his mouth…
And that seriously irks the Special One.

Hi Mick

Rico, I don’t think that Wenger has given up. Maybe it’s a ploy to reduce the pressure on his players?

The great thing about International breaks is no Monday morning blues, that’s gotta be a good thing.

rico, Fabianski will be a better player for moving on, think he played some 30 odd league games in 7 years for us, he’ll probably play more for Swansea this season alone.

As for Cech, we fcuked that one up too didn’t we, should have signed him 10 years ago, problems with a work permit, Chelsea stepped in and made it happen, mind you in Arsene’s defence he had a secret weapon lined up in Manuel Almunia.

Yes I do Rico, he is held in higher regard abroad, than he is in this country.

morning, rico, i,d most definitely take cech, who i,d still rate to be in the top 5 keepers in the world, its shameful that he,s wasted on a bench, but the fact is Wenger spending that sort of money on a player over 30, it,s highly unlikely, considering he,d a chance to take schwarzer for 3 million a few year back, when at the top of his game, but the tight git wouldn,t budge beyond 2 million. Most probably b..shit paper talk. szczesny (jeez thats a hard name to spell ), for me has had an easy ride so far at arsenal, all the number 2,s are simply not as good. That,s another thing that needs to change at the club.

It wont happen, but could mourinho block that move, If cech was game, and pushed it, although it would be the ultimate betrayal in mourinho,s eyes,

Rico, as far as talking the walk, or walking the talk, Wenger’s dithering and stubbornness in solving the obvious is and was always his biggest problem…

It seems to take him double the time it should do to rectify blindingly obvious problems in the team/squad…

Whether it be replacing Almunia, or bringing in taller centre-backs, or signing a tall centre-forward, and one day, in the distant future, he might bring in a couple of decent defensive midfielders..?!

For me the comparison is interesting , Szczesny has had regular games , Bendtner didn’t . Szczesny has an ego a mile high as does Bendtner . Both have made critical mistakes and up till now Szczesny has been forgiven whereas Bendtner wasn’t. Both play well for their countries . If we were buying either now with their international records , most Arsenal fans would be excited. Were Podolski and Campbell leaving and Bendtner coming in with his 28 international goals in 60 matches he would be greeted openly. His problem was missing the against Barcelona when he was on the pitch as an 80 minute sub with his first real chance , he was never forgiven by the fans or the media. Had Szczesny been at Paris against Barca again and done a Lehmann would he have been forgiven – who knows ?

rico, your “favourite player” had scored twice last Friday for Denmark.
I think we don’t need Cesch. Now, there are a gap between Cesch of 3-4 year ago or more, and the actuallity. And this gap will be deeper year after year.
Szesc is better then Fabianky in all sense. Both can grow up, but I think Szeac will be always better then Fab.

Roswell and Hargreaves both had terrible injuries and suffered long absences from the team.

ManUre and City showed patience at first, but after a reasonable time, moved both players on.

They made a decision!

Meanwhile Diaby had been at Arsenal, at least two years longer than he should, taking a space in the squad…

Most top managers would have moved him on. But not Arsene…

Cech, Messi, Ronaldo, Cahill, Drogba and a host of others were all missed because of penny pinching or some work permit or other.

Nevermind….we got Almunia (nothing against him as he is a gentlement), we got Bendtner (nothing against him as he only has a big sized head), Eboue (nothing against him as he is a clown), Silvestre (nothing against him except he was a SAF reject).

Ahhh and we missed Bale because we already had Clichy.

One player I admit….can get away.

But a host of world superstars smacks of ignorance, arrogance or lack of ambition.

I mean….if I can see a player is going to be special at the age of 13 or 14, how come AW cant?

Even Bould will do a better job if the team is left in his hands.

I can’t remember Jack ever bing MoM when playing for Arsenal! Is that because his England colleagues, in the main, are piss poor, or is it because his Arsenal team mates are just better than him?
It’s a conundrum, Jack that is, isn’t it?

Listened to a good deal of the Wales match, Ramsey was heavily criticised throughout. Have to keep in mind, form is temporary class lasts for ever. Hopefully he’ll be back……..eventually! Sooner the better, for me.

Morning all.

I remember last year’s game against Moyes’ team. They were absolute shite then, too, but we lost 1-0, I envisage a similar capitulation on Saturday! The once great one couldn’t wrestle his way out of a paper bag at present! He’ll have an excuse of course, ” zay played a team of reserves and we knew nothing about zem! Vee fount it very ‘ard to deal with zere raw talent! Vee ‘ad no anzer to zere constant forvard movement. Zay ver quite simply better zan us.”
Yet another abject failure!
I hope I’m wrong and time will tell, but I’ve already surrounded myself with armour plating to deflect the brickbats that will surely come! Season over, and we’re only half way through November!
