Morning All.
Bit of an Arsenal night for England. Kieran Gibbs, Danny Welbeck, Jack Wilshere and before the game ended, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain all donned the Three Lions shirt.
Jack was awarded the man of the match award and Welbeck scored two goals which secured the 3-1 victory over Slovenia. And as far as I know, there were no injuries to report. Theo Walcott was on the bench but didn’t get onto the pitch, he might during the friendly against Scotland but England v Scotland can get a bit feisty. We need him to get playing time though before Utd arrive at The Emirates on Saturday because we need him on the pitch.
The media are getting quite excited about how well Jack Wilshere is performing for his country, well I hope he can start getting the same plaudits whilst playing for his club because like a few, his game needs to step up a level.
Wojciech Szczesny is another. It’s clear he can be outstanding on his day and he proved that recently whilst on International duty but at Arsenal, it all seems a bit too easy for him. With David Ospina out injured long term, just 22 year old Emiliano Martinez is keeping him on his toes. Or not as the case maybe…
With Poland though, Artur Boruc, Lukasz Fabianski and even Grzegorz Sandomierski are breathing down his neck for that number one spot and clearly, the competition brings out the best in our keeper but right now, he hasn’t got that at Arsenal has he and it shows.
It was only a matter of time before we were linked with Petr Cech after the Chelsea number one Thibaut Courtois told the world than he thought Cech should leave in order to get first team football:
As a goalkeeper you want to play. If I was in that situation where I didn’t play a lot, then I would leave too.
I think Petr is still a goalkeeper with a lot of quality and one of the best there is.
One could argue that when Fabianski left us in the summer, we lost the more consistent of the two Polish goal keepers, we certainly lost the more focussed and he’s clearly improved having played each week for Swansea.
Cech is only 32 years old, he has a good few years left at the top of his game. He’s the kind of keeper who will win points single handedly, just has he has so often done for Chelsea but his days are done there unless Courtois pics up an injury.
The Sun reckon Arsene Wenger is going to try and sign Petr Cech for £7 million.
Sadly, £7 million is very unlikely to be his value and Jose is very unlikely to do business with Arsene Wenger even if it was.
But I’d love to see him at Arsenal, its about time we had a top class keeper, one who Martinez can really learn from….
That’s it for Sunday, have a good day all….
Chelsea fan here. If you got Cech for anything south of £15m you’d have a great deal on your hands. I’d be gutted to see him at a rival, but given everything he has given to the club, and factoring in the fact that he is an absolute gentleman, I would learn to live with it, if he asked to stay in London because of his family or something. We’d be alright anyway, until you plug the holes in front of the goalkeeper.
I’d take Cech for sure.
I still think Szczesny will be a super keeper, but he needs something, and maybe having his ego take a hit will do it.
Morning all.
He reminds me of Bendtner Scott… lol
Oooohhhh that’s very harsh hahahahaha
Harsh but somewhere near the truth Scott… lol
It’s very quiet on here these days, I might as well give up… 😉
Morning Rico, what a simply wonderful post… (Don’t you dare give up 😉 )
Morning rico, Arsene’s been waving the white flag all season, it’s a french trait apparently, we’re all a bit deflated !
Morning Kev & Micko..
Why not kev, Arsene has… lol
Just a bit deflated Micko, just a bit….
All Wenger would be doing, in signing Petr Cech, would be to confirm what a berk he was in not signing him in the first place…
Mourinho would never sell him to Wenger…
Mourinho had an ego the size of Patagonia, he cannot handle the respect that is afforded Wenger, whilst he is, for all his achievements, held in such contempt in many quarters…
Despite Wenger’s lack of recent success, when he comments of any football related subject, his opinions carry the kind of weight that Mourinho can only dream of when he opens his mouth…
And that seriously irks the Special One.
Hi Mick
Rico, I don’t think that Wenger has given up. Maybe it’s a ploy to reduce the pressure on his players?
Do you think when Wenger talks, people truly listen any more Kev?
I’d like to think Wenger hasn’t given up yet Kev and perhaps you are right and he is just trying to take the pressure off of the players but what pressure are they really under?
Life is all too easy for them imo….
The great thing about International breaks is no Monday morning blues, that’s gotta be a good thing.
rico, Fabianski will be a better player for moving on, think he played some 30 odd league games in 7 years for us, he’ll probably play more for Swansea this season alone.
As for Cech, we fcuked that one up too didn’t we, should have signed him 10 years ago, problems with a work permit, Chelsea stepped in and made it happen, mind you in Arsene’s defence he had a secret weapon lined up in Manuel Almunia.
Yes I do Rico, he is held in higher regard abroad, than he is in this country.
morning, rico, i,d most definitely take cech, who i,d still rate to be in the top 5 keepers in the world, its shameful that he,s wasted on a bench, but the fact is Wenger spending that sort of money on a player over 30, it,s highly unlikely, considering he,d a chance to take schwarzer for 3 million a few year back, when at the top of his game, but the tight git wouldn,t budge beyond 2 million. Most probably b..shit paper talk. szczesny (jeez thats a hard name to spell ), for me has had an easy ride so far at arsenal, all the number 2,s are simply not as good. That,s another thing that needs to change at the club.
Micko, agree re Fabianski and I don’t think it’ll be too long before he’s Polands number 1.
H ha re the internationals, you have a point though..
Kev, the trouble is he talks the talk but then fails to walk the walk. He likes the perfect game but when does he ever set us up to play that right way and with the right players?
I hope he can turn things around, starting against Utd but unless he takes the cotton wool out of his ears and starts listening to others, I can’t see much change…
Kev, living abroad myself I can tell you thats not absolutely true.
Morning Dublin.. Didn’t he goof up the offer for Schwarzer – he’d have been ideal for us at the time..
Cech would be perfect right now and for that reason alone, we know he’ll never become an Afc player. And of course, Mourinho wouldn’t ever allow it..
It wont happen, but could mourinho block that move, If cech was game, and pushed it, although it would be the ultimate betrayal in mourinho,s eyes,
I suppose in theory, Jose would have little choice if Cech really wanted to move to us and we offered the right price etc. A bit like RvP and Fabregas when they wanted to move to only one club…
Damn it Mick, you shot me down again…
Rico, as far as talking the walk, or walking the talk, Wenger’s dithering and stubbornness in solving the obvious is and was always his biggest problem…
It seems to take him double the time it should do to rectify blindingly obvious problems in the team/squad…
Whether it be replacing Almunia, or bringing in taller centre-backs, or signing a tall centre-forward, and one day, in the distant future, he might bring in a couple of decent defensive midfielders..?!
For me the comparison is interesting , Szczesny has had regular games , Bendtner didn’t . Szczesny has an ego a mile high as does Bendtner . Both have made critical mistakes and up till now Szczesny has been forgiven whereas Bendtner wasn’t. Both play well for their countries . If we were buying either now with their international records , most Arsenal fans would be excited. Were Podolski and Campbell leaving and Bendtner coming in with his 28 international goals in 60 matches he would be greeted openly. His problem was missing the against Barcelona when he was on the pitch as an 80 minute sub with his first real chance , he was never forgiven by the fans or the media. Had Szczesny been at Paris against Barca again and done a Lehmann would he have been forgiven – who knows ?
rico, your “favourite player” had scored twice last Friday for Denmark.
I think we don’t need Cesch. Now, there are a gap between Cesch of 3-4 year ago or more, and the actuallity. And this gap will be deeper year after year.
Szesc is better then Fabianky in all sense. Both can grow up, but I think Szeac will be always better then Fab.
Roswell and Hargreaves both had terrible injuries and suffered long absences from the team.
ManUre and City showed patience at first, but after a reasonable time, moved both players on.
They made a decision!
Meanwhile Diaby had been at Arsenal, at least two years longer than he should, taking a space in the squad…
Most top managers would have moved him on. But not Arsene…
But back in the good old days Kev, he signed a few goodies… 😉
I really hope he makes a couple of much needed signings in January and in the meantime, he and the players give a bit more on the pitch….
JM do you think that Arsenal would have beaten Wigan in the FACup Semi-Final, if Szczesny had been in goal instead of Fabianski???
Ah, the old days Rico…
Before the Petro-Dollar clubs ruined everything… 🙂
And before Kroenke turned Arsenal into a franchise…
jeez Cech and Schwarzer both at Chelsea now, along with courtios, the ad springs to mind, If Carlsberg did goalkeepers. say what ye want, They know how to bring in players.
Good comment Potter but surely one would look at a players league form as well as their international form and in Bendtners case, that was poor. I’d agree he wasn’t given much of a chance with us but even when he went on loan he didn’t really shine and off the pitch his behaviour was dreadful. Both which no doubt cheesed off Arsene Wenger.
JM – I noticed 😉
Szczesny has the potential to be a great keeper, but he needs to concentrate and drop a bit of his ego imo. At least until he can back it up each week with his performances…
Kev, spot on re Diaby… And just when we think that kind of thing will be over in the summer, Sanogo will fill Diaby’s boots…..
Yes Kev, on both… 😉
Darn Kroenke!
Allez, maybe
Catch up in an hour or so….
Afternoon Bugs and Bunnies.
Truly a wonderful post Boss. If you dare give up you will find the heat of the Med (the one in August) in your house. And that would not be enjoyable I can assure you.
ahhhhh……and 1st for the vino today as well.
Cech, Messi, Ronaldo, Cahill, Drogba and a host of others were all missed because of penny pinching or some work permit or other.
Nevermind….we got Almunia (nothing against him as he is a gentlement), we got Bendtner (nothing against him as he only has a big sized head), Eboue (nothing against him as he is a clown), Silvestre (nothing against him except he was a SAF reject).
Ahhh and we missed Bale because we already had Clichy.
Afternoon Devil and all..
Ok, I give up then Devil, I could do with a bit of summer sunshine… 😉
One player I admit….can get away.
But a host of world superstars smacks of ignorance, arrogance or lack of ambition.
I mean….if I can see a player is going to be special at the age of 13 or 14, how come AW cant?
afternoon boss.
Yesterday what I saw convinced me that all the AFC players at the nationals upped their games. So that means only one thing…….its the man at the helm who needs a re think
Even Bould will do a better job if the team is left in his hands.
We sure missed out of a lot Devil, Cahill annoys me still…
That’s what I think too Devil, either that or they are more proud and committed to their country than Arsenal…
Half of the roll ’em and throw ’em team talking about throwing in the towel…..Never!!!!
I can’t remember Jack ever bing MoM when playing for Arsenal! Is that because his England colleagues, in the main, are piss poor, or is it because his Arsenal team mates are just better than him?
It’s a conundrum, Jack that is, isn’t it?
Afternoon everyone. What a boring Sunday this has been, even the radio and TV have nothing to offer! Well, I’m off to talk to the wife!!
Having been named man of the match , JW’s comment about being encouraged to look beyond 5 yard passes was quite telling.
Never Bt, Never!
Wavy, that’s funny. Henderson and Sterling were dreadful though….
Hope your wife doesn’t read HH… lol
Potter, another hint from one of our players….
Bale is s**t… lol
Ramsey has brought his Arsenal form with him. Needs to get divorced ASAP!
🙂 Bob
..
Can’t believe I’m in moderation and can’t let myself on 🙁
Guess I’m in a pickle then…. 🙁
Hello
Boo
Oh well, might as well go to bed as my comments are showing…. Night all….
Monkey S**T…..
No my wife hardly knows where Highbury is, leave alone the House! Anyway she’s far too busy playing Candy Crush!! So even talking is kept to a minimum!
Listened to a good deal of the Wales match, Ramsey was heavily criticised throughout. Have to keep in mind, form is temporary class lasts for ever. Hopefully he’ll be back……..eventually! Sooner the better, for me.
If you behave Rico I’ll let you back on…… 😀
Hoorah , thanks Wath…
Still in moderation Wath.. – No your not 😉
Now don’t be naughty and you won’t end up in the sin bin….! I’m not bailing you out again…!
I haven’t done anything wrong 😉
Yet……It’s early…………
Night folks, hopefully Wath won’t have to bail me out tomorrow……
Night Rico, now go sort your connections and passwords and stuff out and don’t forget… Behave…! 😀
Night Rico, have a stiff drink and behave…..
And if you can’t behave be careful rico.
Cech… who had seen Czesch Republic v. Iceland? Cesh was good during Iceland goal, wasn’t he?
I see le senile one giving it the big un saying how he nearly signed Pogba…the bloke needs to engage brain before speaking!
Don’t forget Diaby isn’t injury prone as well Lee…..
His time has come, au revoir monsieur and thanks for the memories but please do one!
Blunt and straight to the point….. BUT he needs to take the syrup with him…. One going without the other won’t help matters me thinks…!
Morning Rico, Lee and Wath. Nice though it would be, I can’t see the syrup leaving. It would need to be force majeur I think.
I don’t know about that…. another manger with this squad would surely do better? Another manger wouldn’t have Flamini or Arteta as our DM? Or left us so desperately short at CB? Or bought a goalkeeper with a serious injury…….. joke of a man!
Then spout off in the media about the title being Chelsea’s to lose…..we’ll it would be nice if it was ours to win! Not a chance under this deluded man.
Agree Lee, Another manager should get more even from what we have but I want more than that and I want the yank gone, he ain’t got a scooby and is there purely to drain club cash and not invest properly because he doesn’t have to.
Mornin Adam…!
This team is going backwards under wenger, we should spank the mancs on Saturday but how many of us think we will? Because I certainly don’t….and they’re shit at the moment!
LVG to clued up mate, he’ll have our number even with a crap Manc side…! If they don’t win they will def stop us from winning as we know Wenger won’t change a thing.
Morning Wath, Adam, Lee and all….
I reckon we’ll win on Saturday…..
Gary Monk was clued up the other week……………in fact there’s a long list of managers that are clued up compared to dear old Arsene!
I don’t Rico, in fact I struggle to think we’ll beat anyone these days! Sad indictment.
Have my glass half full hat on this morning Lee…
Although I don’t know why, everything I touch this morning goes wrong….
That’s commonly known as the shidas touch!
Rico, half way through that stiff drink,?
Morning all…
I’d be happy if we gave them a game for 90 minutes and not just for the last 15/20 minutes..
🙂 Lee..
Morning Bt – it’s all gone… lol
As for this coming Saturday? I am expecting much more of the same myself.
Are you ready?
I’ll say it……we will never win the League with Stan as our owner, no matter who is in charge.
Morning all.
Just read Blind is out for Utd until Christmas…
Nice and positive then Adam… 😉 😉
Morning Scott. I reckon we could… But I’d still be glad to see the back of Stan…
Morning all.
I remember last year’s game against Moyes’ team. They were absolute shite then, too, but we lost 1-0, I envisage a similar capitulation on Saturday! The once great one couldn’t wrestle his way out of a paper bag at present! He’ll have an excuse of course, ” zay played a team of reserves and we knew nothing about zem! Vee fount it very ‘ard to deal with zere raw talent! Vee ‘ad no anzer to zere constant forvard movement. Zay ver quite simply better zan us.”
Yet another abject failure!
I hope I’m wrong and time will tell, but I’ve already surrounded myself with armour plating to deflect the brickbats that will surely come! Season over, and we’re only half way through November!
Morning Wavy, we are going to win…
Players have been away from the club, learned more from their internationals managers and will come back all ready to stuff Utd…
😛 😛
Rico, I hope we don’t find out 🙂
No Scott, let’s hope he’s gone sooner rather than later but in all honesty, unless somehow the message get’s to Kroenke and the pressure becomes too much for him, he’s probably going nowhere..
Bit like Arsene really….
New post up now…
Stan doesn’t constantly over play his favourites, Stan isn’t tactically inept, Stan doesn’t neglect the glaring deficiencies in the squad. Stan doesn’t play Sanogo instead of players that are a thousand times better………the list is endless!
Stan doesn’t care what we win, as long as we lead the list if profitable clubs.
Seems he has 1 supporter :- David Seaman: Keep faith with Wojciech Szczesny
