What you can do in 9 years! Clear Out begins….

Morning all.

I don’t know if any of you realise but our FA Cup triumph was our first trophy for nine years! Honest, it’s true!

During that same period of time, our ladies team were flying high and winning most of what was on offer and here’s a list of their achievements during those nine years:

UEFA Women’s Champions League Champions – 2006–07

WSL:  2011 and 2012

FA Women’s Premier League National Division: 2005–06, 2006–07, 2007–08, 2008–09 and 2009–10

FA Women’s Cup:  2005–06, 2006–07, 2007–08, 2008–09, 2010–11 and 2012-13

FA WSL Continental Cup:  2011, 2012 and 2013

FA Women’s Premier League Cup: 2006–07 and 2008–09

FA Women’s Community Shield:  2006, 2007 and 2008

London County FA Women’s Cup:  2006–07, 2007–08, 2008–09, 2009–10 and 2010–11.

That’s it.

Phenomenal achievement!

Since our 2005 FA Cup win against Man Utd, the ladies have picked up a staggering 27 trophies!

Vik Akers, who founded the team way back in 1987, won a staggering 33 major trophies including the quadruple in 2007 but after 22 years in charge, he stood down in 2009.

Laura Harvey took over from Vik Akers and the success continued with further trophies secured  but in 2012, she packed her bags and went off to America to manage Seattle Reign FC.

Next in place was Shelley Kerr and all seemed to be going wrong as we lost a few players to Chelsea. Two games into this seasons WSL, they have managed just one point and were beaten at home by Reading, something which didn’t used to happen.

They are still in the FA Cup having beaten Chelsea in the semi-final and now face Everton on Sunday, June 1st in the final. Good luck to them.

The mens season maybe over but the womens has just begun and I truly hope they start to find winning ways and get right back up the table.

Get the men and ladies on track together and share some wonderful times ahead as one….

And the Academy of course, that needs a huge shake up as we need to start seeing a few younger players progress into the first team.

One who won’t be around at Arsenal any more is Chuks Aneke. He is one of many who have been told by the club that they are free to leave. I’m quite saddened by his departure, especially as just a few summers ago he turned down a move to Barcelona in favour of staying with the club he loves. That club has now turned their back on him.

This is one player I hope we have a chance to bring back home one day because I think Arsene Wenger, or whoever made this stupid decision has missed a trick with Chuks…..

Still, we have Abou Diaby eh!! What a joke!

Here’s a list of who will definitely be departing for free this summer:

Free transfers

Aneke Chukwuemeka Ademola Amachi
Ansah Zak Andy
Bendtner Nicklas
Boateng Daniel
Fagan Zachari Freddy Casey
Park Chu Young
Siemann Leander

Both Bacary Sagna and Lukasz Fabianski are free to leave too but the club are no doubt hoping they will sign the contracts offered to them, but I doubt either will.

I also suspect that even though many other fringe players have been retained at this stage, they will be sold before the new season begins.

That’s it for today…..

Aneke,Have never see him play but nigerian gooners say he’s better than mikel. He’s compare to viera which make me believe this guy will be good.but what a shame. He’s gone now,I wish him the best anywhere he go.

  2. Joaquim Moreira says:

    Moning all!
Media said Sagna have a deal with M. City. so, probably deal done.
Next Emirates Cup probabaly have two Portuguese coach: Benfica and Monaco.

  3. rico says:

Some club is going to get a very good player imho Sukky…

JM, they have, but until it’s confirmed by the club, there’s hope…..

  4. frednerk says:

Sagna might play against us Community Shield 1st game, winds me up the way we go about our business.

  5. Wath says:

    No crying over spilt milk…..

Worry about the future not who or what’s happened or been sold..!

  6. rico says:

I really thought Aneke was our future Wath…

Still, a few top class summer signings will cheer me up… 😉

  7. Micko says:

    Morning all,
Have the ladies given up on the league as well rico.
It’s disappointing re Aneke, we do all the ground work on the kid leaving the door open to barca or brentford to reap the rewards.
Fred, yaya and ronaldo would have been sold for a huge profit by now, cech would probably still be with us though.

  8. Wath says:

    Cheeky bastards………………

I’m worth my weight in GG i’ll have you know….! Which is a fortune..!

    So there……….. 😛

  9. rico says:

    Hi Micko,

Hope not, not just yet but Everton seem to be the team to beat these days. Be interesting to see who wins the FA Cup final between our girls and them…

  10. frednerk says:

Wonder whats going on with Glenn Johnson at the dippers, would he fit in with us,
Your right micko..we still are a selling club.

  11. rico says:

The Reds defender is after longer than the additional 12 months currently on the table and talks have reached an impasse

Contract talks between Liverpool and defender Glen Johnson have reportedly broken down.

The England international, part of Roy Hodgson’s 23-man squad for this summer’s World Cup, sees his contract at Anfield expire in 12 months time.

According to the the Guardian the Reds owners Fenway Sports Group have offered the £120,000-a-week defender – signed for £17million by Rafa Benitez in 2009 – an additional 12 months on top of his current deal.

However, the 50-cap England defender, who turns 30 in August, is believed to be seeking a longer deal.

    £120,000 a week?? Pfff

  12. Micko says:

Ronaldo, di maria, benzema, bale, that’s a front line and a half, looking forward to tonites game.

  13. rico says:

He’ll be back to tell you what he thinks about that Scott.. 😉

I’m out for dinner tonight so going to miss the final, quite disappointed as wanted to watch….

  14. Micko says:

rico, wordpress is lightning quick today, first time in months, usually have time to go and make a cuppa tea before my posts go through !

  15. rico says:

Arsenal are ready to open talks with Stoke City over a deal to bring goalkeeper Asmir Begovic to the Emirates Stadium.

The Gunners are in desperate need of another glovesman for next season, with Lukasz Fabianski and loanee Emiliano Viviano both set to leave, meaning Wojciech Szczesny would be the club’s only senior stopper.

Arsene Wenger has made it clear that he wants a genuine rival for Szczesny, and Stoke star Begovic is a top target.

Arsenal officials are planning to speak to Stoke in the coming days to discuss a fee for the Bosnian, with the north London club hopeful of striking a deal for about £8million.

The Potters are in no rush to sell, but do have the benefit of having a long-term replacement in the form of Jack Butland already in their ranks.

Begovic has long been recognised as one of the most consistent goalkeepers in the Premier League, having impressed since his switch from Portsmouth.

  16. Bt62 Gooner says:

Afternoon all, thank god Jonhsons’ wages would put us off, looking forward to cracking final tonight.

  17. rico says:

I’m off for a while now, things to be doing now the rain has finally stopped…

    Catch up a little later….

  18. Bt62 Gooner says:

Rico, is Kerr the right person for the Ladies? I know there were alot of rule changes lately, but surely we should still be up there in WSL.I know it’s early doors in the league, but a bit of a trend beginning to appear.

  19. allezkev says:

Jeremy Menez on a free from PSG…

At 27 he is just the right age and plays midfield.

I recall him playing for France in the last European Championships and WorldCup and thought he looked quite good…

  20. allezkev says:

Joel Campbell, talking to Costa Rican journos, seems to be suggesting that he is gonna join up with the Arsenal for Pre-Season and possibly to stay in England this time?

He still had two years left on his contract…

  21. Joaquim Moreira says:

Chelsea wants Ogba (Juventus),koke (A.Madrid) e Paulinho (totts) only for the midfield… more, Diego Costa (a.Madrid)

  22. Hell Raising Devil says:

    Good Afternoon Chappies and Lasses.

A whole week since we last lifted a trophy. Tsk Tsk. The groundsman out. 😛

Kev……Menez is the typical winger/playmaker we need. He can hug the touchline and stretch defences but also cut inside. He is technically good and can beat his opponent easily. His temperament is a bit touchy but he more than makes up for it through his skills and teamwork.

  23. snaparse says:

devil the problem with menez isn’t his talent but his sulking nature IMO……very lazy as well

  24. snaparse says:

afternoon all…..shame re aneke as much worse players have been giving much note chances goodluck to him though

  25. Hell Raising Devil says:

Snap….that is what I said. his temperament. He often sulks. At every club he has been with.

That is why I prefer Griezmann.

  26. rico says:

Bt, I don’t think so, it was a shame Laura Harvey left imo…

    Afternoon guys..

Kev, just keeping an eye on Will Hughes 😉

  27. allezkev says:

I think that, unfortunately, Liverpool have first dibs on Will Hughes, Rico…

I’d kinda like to see him stay at Derby when they, hopefully, beat QPR…

  28. Hell Raising Devil says:

But Kev, if he is on a free, then why the hell dont we do like Shitty did with BS and snap him up? I mean, if AW wants him, free, French, technically gifted etc, then he should already be in by now. Like Sagna is already a shitty player.

  29. rico says:

    I didn’t realise that Kev, he’s doing ok…

Menez is ours then as he’s French and free 😉

  30. rico says:

Have either City or Arsenal confirmed Sagna’s deal?

Or is it just media speculation right now….?

  31. rico says:

Hughes has been subbed now Kev. Derby’s player of the season apparently…

16 goals from midfield, not bad eh….

  32. Hell Raising Devil says:

I will be rubbing my eyes in disbelief if Begovic came to AFC.

I do not think AW will spend 8-10mill on a GK. A freebie will do as a backup.

I do not think that Begovic will come to AFC to be rotated and compete with Chezzer.

  33. Rick says:

    Afternoon Rico and the House.
After yesterdays events here is some food for thought.
Writing in the Mail Matt Barlow states that nearly 900 footballers are out of contract next month and in recent summers its been around 500.
In july 2010 when the squad rule was voted in Arsene stated they would be disastrous for footballers, it looks like he was right.

  34. rico says:

    Afternoon Rick.

That’s incredible. But look on the bright side, there’s 900 players for AW to choose from… 😉

Seriously though, it does look like he was right and to think old red nose said he was talking poppycock…

  35. rico says:

Whichever side wins this play off, my money is on them going straight back down to the Championship…

  36. rico says:

Deep joy, pictures of ‘Arry Redknapp hanging out his car window on the 31st August will be back this summer…..

  37. bob john says:

Twitchy Tax Dodger back in the prem. Stunk Wembley out and got lucky. Totally undeserved.

  38. Rick says:

I was about to ask if either of these teams were good enough to cut it in the P/L. Barton back in P/L un thinkable

  39. rico says:

Totally agree Bj, Derby should have won.

Taking off Hughes cost them imo….

Rick, both were pretty average, wish Reading had been there today…

  40. rico says:

I’m off for the day folks, enjoy the CL Final. I’ll be cheering for Atletico…

    Catch up tomorrow….

    Night all..

  41. Hell Raising Devil says:

Barton is a year older now Rick. He is not getting younger. He will be found out next season. I can assure you that he will only make that leap if he is surrounded by good to better players not average ones.

  42. Hell Raising Devil says:

    start shaking your knees.

MANUEL ALMUNIA IS TO BE FREED BY WATFORD.

AW pls look the other way.

  43. allezkev says:

    Yeah Rick, he’s a tough hombre indeed…

I actually like a lot of the Atletico team….

  44. allezkev says:

Filipe Luiz is like a midfield player, nevermind a left-back…

He’s pretty good as well Rick…

  45. martin wengrow says:

Re Aneke. No sentiment in football. If the club don’t think he’ll make the grade then he must be released.

    They rarely get it wrong.

  46. Hell Raising Devil says:

    Good Morning Chappies and Lasses

8 days since we last lifted a cup. Tsk Tsk. Kev for Manager.

I think that both Uchida and Aurier will come to the Ems this summer. Uchida can play on either flank, while Aurier can play all positions at the back. Aw likes these types of players and I feel that if (which is highly probable) that TommyV will leave than it makes sense. We can get at least 8 mill for TV05 so that will pay for one of them.

So I feel that both will come in…….these two will play regularly and allow Per, Kos, Gibbs to rest. And yes I feel that Jenks will get more time now that BS has gone. I feel that he will start around 10Epl games with the rest coming in the cups.

Seems that the Begovic story has legs as well.

  47. potter says:

With Aneke currently but so many in the past the questions in my mind is why ? Why is it that a young player so highly thought of throughout his formative years suddenly in the last two becomes not good enough. ? What has happened during that time to stop the development ? Injuries sustained ? or could it be like the man trying to hold three handfulls of sand that we are so concentrated on trying to pick up every kid we see that we stop concentrating on the ones we already have.

  48. Scott From Oz says:

    Morning all.
Personally, and this opinion is from afar, I reckon we concentrate so hard on teaching kids the “Arsenal way” , we forget to teach them to be tough, hardened professionals.
