Morning folks.

I’m sure you already know but just in case anyone has been asleep for the last twenty four hours, Emmanuel Frimpong has left us until January 1st 2013. His destination is Charlton, much to the disappointment of Wolves fans and his new manager will be Chris Powell. Charlton currently sit fourteenth in Championship.

Hopefully he’ll get plenty of playing time and help push his new club into the play-off places. At least he’s not too far away for the club to keep a check on his performances.

Arsene Wenger likes to find little names for his squad each season doesn’t he, some have been the strongest, despite us knowing that is untrue, some have had the best mental attitude ever etc, well this season the  team are ‘special’

That came of course, after the weekend when we finally got a victory in front of our home fans.

We have shown quality, spirit and a lot of movement, and that is what we want from our team.

The result will help to rebuild belief completely again. There is something special in this team and I am happy that will come out when they play with complete confidence.

I am confident [it will be a platform]. Let’s be consistent. We will gain some belief and confidence from this result, and we will transfer that into our next game and show the same performance.

How can anyone argue with this seasons description though?

At times we have many players who do something very special, we witnessed some of that at the weekend but we just have to start doing that a lot more often because when the players all ‘tick’ on the same day, they are very good.

We need to start mixing the kind of defensive displays we saw at Man City and Liverpool with the attacking style of play we saw against Tottenham, Southampton, West Ham, Liverpool etc etc.

Arsene is right though, Saturday will give the players a little boost in confidence, each game we play and win, or play and don’t concede goals, another little step up the confidence ladder will be taken.

And, despite results not going our way prior to the weekend, scoring goals is becoming easier and Wenger believes that he and his coaching staff will be able to rectify the dodgy defence.

I believe it is always easier to correct the defensive side than getting your team to score goals.

When you score goals you always have a chance. I am confident that the defence will be quite sound once everybody is used to playing with each other. We won many balls [against Tottenham] as a team and we want to continue to work on that.

I’m not quite sure I agree with him there, if it was that easy for, why haven’t our defensive frailties been corrected yet? If he truly believes that losing Gibbs and Diaby really have caused the problem, then it is time he stopped relying on them to last a season.

In just forty two days, the January transfer window opens and there is never a better time for Wenger to get busy. Well, there was, but that time can’t be recovered so we have to hope he doesn’t stuff up this time round, otherwise his record of reaching the Champions League places every season since he’s been our manager will be seriously under threat this time around. To be fair, it already is!

Talking of the Champions League, Wojciech Szczesny and his team-mates  “can’t wait” to play Montpellier on tomorrow night, a win will see us with a big toe into the knock out stages. If Schalke beat Olympiacos, then we are guaranteed to go through, only who finishes top will be left to decide in the final group game.

We couldn’t get a better time to play that game, we are buzzing today, we can’t wait for the next game. We’re confident.

We’ve had a couple of poor results recently, but we’re back on track and we’re confident that we can get the three points and qualify for the knock-out stages, which is the least you can ask from us.We want to make sure we do the job properly and qualify.

Szczesny also had a word to say about the home fans who were in full voice from start to finish on Saturday:

I know that over the last few weeks the fans might have been frustrated, and we understand that completely. I think the team and the fans work as a unit, and they were fantastic, they helped us to get a boost before the game and helped keep us going.

They deserve a lot of credit for the result as well. We’re certainly hoping that they can keep it the same and help us to win all the fixtures coming up.

Obviously, all Premier League games are as important as the next one but I think the fans enjoy it just that little bit more [against Tottenham] – when we won you could see how much they were buzzing after the game.

At the final whistle there were still 60,000 people there – the only fans who left were the Tottenham fans. It was fantastic.

I read that the stewards at The Emirates were a lot more relaxed for the NLD, fans were allowed to stand and we all know that banners were permitted etc, but why does it take a game like that for them to show common sense, why not allow the fans freedom each home game?

After all, the players love it and if they are happy they play better, and that keeps the fans happy!

Try it tomorrow night Arsenal, it might just get us into the knock-out stages of the Champions League….

That’s your lot for another day…
