Wenger to be denied summer funds? More of the same please Arsene…

After a beautiful Sunday and of course that euphoric feeling that Monday morning brought, I was pleased to be informed by a close friend that Arsene gets his morning off with a daily dose of HH before he does anything else.

Apparently the advice he gets off of all the comments makes him think things out clearly.

Suggestion is that Arsene logged in the other day read what fans were saying about the season ticket prices and decided to talk to the board about it and the next day a statement was released announcing that the club are to freeze ST prices for next year for gold members.

Arsene if you login today expand it to the others as well there’s a good man. 😉

Seriously, supporters do not realise how powerful their opinions are, opinions and actions can make a massive difference, for instance the Arsenal Library was in full voice this weekend and although Adebayor came back to visit, the fans kept it very friendly. Yes he got the odd  jeer but  not for racism, not for bad football either, it had nothing to do with any of that. It was  just because he left us and came back to haunt us and we don’t like that kind of thing at the Ems and now he knows it.

Arsene knew that as well, as he said when asked if he had plans to re-sign Ade he said,

Why would I let him go if I still wanted him.

Well said Arsene!

Whether Wenger actually reads or not is one thing and to be honest, we know he doesn’t but if he doesn’t listen to the thousands then he must be a fool.

Yes he got us fired up for that mob down the road and lets face it, it was a bit of a shock even for hardened supporters like us!

Don’t get me wrong I’m not moaning but that was a one-off game, a great result yes, but we have had this team all season and that has got to be the first time I have seen us play in such a way, the kind of football that used to be common place for us.

Even against Chelsea, we didn’t show that kind of form and I for one want to see that again, not just next year or the year after but in all of our remaining fixtures this season!

I’m a bit giddy after Sunday as I really find it hard to believe that these are the same players that played in the previous two fixtures against Milan and Sunderland.

Why is it that?

Arsene Wenger must demand commitment like we witnessed on Sunday, the doggedness, and above all the way they played as a team.

We have seen enough of that tippy tappy crap football  and we want/need more of the dynamic style, the surging forward with intent and the ‘no going back’ approach!

Yes Arsene, if your reading, you will know, all we ask for is more of the same we witnessed on Sunday, it was stunning!

This is what we have seen, we know they can do it and this is what we want.

They have the skill and now it’s your job to get the best out of them

We now know they can overturn teams and we now expect it every game, no that’s the wrong word we demand it and you need to deliver it.

Arsene me old mate, I have given you a fair bit of stick this season and I have asked for your head to be on a block, maybe I was a bit premature but I will be watching you and at this moment in time I apologise.

However,  now I have seen what this team can do, the chasing back, the committed tackles, the direct forward runs that throw defences into confusion and the way our own defence can attack as well as defend with gusto, so yes Arsene I want more of that!

I liked what I saw and now I expect it each fixture – I want to see the opposition walking off with their heads bowed, our players walking off with their heads held high! Yes Arsene that’s what I want, that’s what we want!

We have waited for some time for the kind of football we saw on Sunday and now we want that time and time again!

So Arsene, if you are reading today, don’t forget we’re watching.

Written by Steve Palmer

Just a bit to add on in case you ddin’t see the clubs financial situation yesterday:

Group profit before tax was £49.5 million (2010 – loss of £6.1 million)

Profit on sale of player registrations amounted to £63.0 million (2010 – £4.0 million)

£74.7 million of investment in new players and extended contracts pushed amortisation charges up to £17.3 million (2010 – £10.1 million)

The resulting profit from player trading was £46.1 million (2010 – loss of £5.9 million)

Turnover from football rose to £113.5 million (2010 – £97.6 million) with increases from match-day (four additional games played) and commercial income streams

Operating profits (before depreciation and player trading) from football increased to £15.2 million (2010 – £9.4 million)

Period of minimal activity, as expected, in the property business with turnover of £3.2 million (2010 – £22.5 million) and operating profits of £0.5 million (2010 – £3.3 million)

Group has no short-term debt and continues to have a solid financial platform from cash reserves of £115.2 million (2010 – £110.4 million).

Ivan Gazidis:

The most important thing is how we do on the pitch. We have a healthy cash balance of £115m but not all that is available to invest in transfers. We have running costs, player salaries and so on. We also have to keep some in reserve in case things don’t go our way.

There is money available, we don’t talk about an exact figure because it would impact on our negotiating position. We do spend all of the money we generate. We do invest it in the squad.

Make of that what you wish but to me it sounds like Arsene Wenger won’t be having the kind of money available in the summer that we all hoped he would….

The accounts were up until november 2011, theres still 6 months of cash left unaccounted for. Also, we will receive money for deadwood like vela, denilson, squid, hopefully chamakh.

Hiya guys and chicks of the Gunners Faith.

Good morning to you all.

Good post Sir SP. A rallying call to the troops and maybe AW. Hope he reads HH. it will open his eyes that we care about the club not 7 million a year.

Personally I think that AFC has the following agenda…..

1) pay the stadium
2) stash away enough cash reserves so that if a rainy day comes we will be in a strong position
3) Promote our own players
4) Add one or two players each season.

If players like Cesc, Flamini, Hleb and Ade had not fucked it all up and went elsewhere imagine where we would be. On the other hand we might have been worse off. it cuts both ways.

This cash reserves situation is something which one should commend. That there are 115million is a good thing. Hopefully the club is aiming at increasing that to around 250 million which should mean we are covered for at least two seasons regarding wages.

I have a feeling that sooner or later other clubs will find that they cannot pay what they have promised and start scraping the barrel and that is when the shit will hurt.

We might or might not agree with it but that is transparency and that is what we want. But we still would like to win one or two cups a season. If one of them is the charity shield I will not complain. But we do need to have that feeling back….the Carlilng or FA cup would do great for an appetizer.

Good mornign all.
Remember, PHW & CO had amortised our debt into a 25-year fixed bond paying RBS Consortium about 20-mil per annum (bulk of loan with 5.3% fixed interest), starting from 2006/07 and last payment in 2031/32.

Just imagine every Arsenal manager will need to generate a profit of 20-mil till 2031/32!

generally, the player salary bill should not exceed 50% of turnover.

E.g.

if Total Wage Bill is £130 million, then the turnover should be £260 million.

Time for gazidis to earn his pay by growing our sponsorship, commercial interests and Media Rights in Asia, Middle East, America and Africa.

DO not blame Gazidis, PHW & Co for player transfer.
It is Wenger who himself refused to spend as without aborting that rigid salary scale, no marquee players will ever think of signing for Arsenal.

I still say usmanov is the answer he is football direct and would clearly take the team to the highest level instead of having a board aiming for 5th spot lol!

Morning all, another thank you Rico you made it readable 🙂

Transfer funds are there we know that, and yes new players coming in can only help. I am at a bit of a loss at the moment, watching Sunday has confused me, at the start of the season i thought we had a team that could win everything we entered, I knew we had players injured and that would be a big concern, but i still believed we had what we needed to make a good start. We started badly and limped our way through the qualifier but we managed to fight our way through, at the time i didn’t realise how long Wilshere would be out, and also didn’t realise how many players would go down with injuries. Our football has not been too exciting and had resulted with us tumbling down the table, only for us to find a bit of form and battle our way back up. many gave us no chance at all but we still persevered and have now got ourselves back into the position many proffesional people said we wouldnt reach, whether we finish there or higher is still to be seen, but the way we played Sunday has opened my eyes, i was starting to think that i was wrong and the squad were crap but i have been pleasantly suprised by that display. Our team need to sit in front of a replay and watch just what they acheived and understand that they can go on now and pile the pressure on every one they meet. my faith is back and i hope theirs is as well.

Good Morning everybody.

It is a puzzle. Where did that performance come from? Unbelievable!

Now, what do we get for the remainder of the season? That’s the question.

On the transfer kitty issue, even if we do manage to shift deadwood like Bendtner, Denilson, Skilllacking, Almunia, etc etc its only on the wages front where we will gain as the total income for that lot looks about £15 to me.

I predict big changes for next year, boardroom will be changeing the same as the training staff, we will have money to spend but i don’t envisage many signings, a couple, maybe three we will lose some of the deadwood not all, but the worst ones will go. Wenger will lead us and he will see out his contract but his new second in command will be our new manager when Wenger leaves. This plan that Arsenal have in place may not look so good at the moment but it will start to come good and it will be adhered to that is Arsenals future. Big profits and our debts will be paid off probably in one lump sum we will just get better while others will have to change and take Arsenals lead. I have no doubts that we will succeed our wealth will just grow and grow.whether its with Stan or the Russian we will succeed.

Morning all, good post Steve. A good question posed, why don’t we get that sort of commitment and skill in every game?. I know it was the spuds so it has an extra meaning, especially this year as we are below them for once, but we should be doing that week in week out, not once or twice a season. Could the answer be somewhere in the fact that most teams will put 10 behind the ball, watch our 60% possession consisting of sideways passes and then hit us on the break? Do we need to find a way of allowing the other team to come forward and attack a little more and exploit that with more direct play? The spuds are essentially an attacking team, so I think that made it easier for us and gave the team more space.

Morning UTA, I would say the diference was direct forward passing with pace i have never seen a team combat that kind of approach we have always been an attacking team we make as many chances as anybody else but we haven’t been scoreing, we have been playing slow build up football you know the stuff i mean tippy tapping shit gives everybody time to build a wall, United do it as well fast forward runs with numbers in the box, our players have been slow and maybe just one in the box unlike Sunday they were quick in attack and Spuds couldn’t handle the pace. When losing possession we closed them down quickly and made them make mistakes that is usually us, but Sunday we took more chances than we missed and kicked their arses.

_____________________________________

Hi Iain, I got to blame somebody right?.. 😆

Yes, that 20-mil is now part of the operating expenditure, i.e. deducted from the turnovers.

but the point is that Arsenal Holdings plc must generate enough turnovers to service that 20-mil every year.

And once our last property development at Queensland is paid off, then the biggest money generator is “selling players” like in nay business “buy cheap and sell high”.

I will be writing an artilce in a week or two to show that our turnovers from the football side of business had not grown since we moved to EMirates in 2006/07 season.

WHo is to be blame for lack of transfer funds?
Guess we will never know till Wenger wrote his memoir whihc will make pretty interesting reading.

Perhaps when USmanov had attain 30% shares, we may have more disclosures on the inner Boardroom on our transfer policy..with USmanov washing those “dirty linen” to show out PHW & Co?

Gazidis?

Arsène Wenger believes Robin van Persie is among the world’s best strikers because his movement keeps him one step ahead of the game.
________________________________________

I agreed, and it is also the weak link in this Arsenal team.

The reason why this team finds it so hard to click with the FORWARD LINE is simply the mobility and movement of Van Persie with none of the team-mates has yet to develop an understanding with him, his mobility and his movement off the ball.

It is not like the French Spine who has a natural understanding of their movement with their team-mates, and un-real telepathic understanding.
WIltord and even Freddy commented on it that even if they instinctly ran to an open channel with their eyes closed, they will find the ball at their feet.

It is the vision, the overall awareness and peripheral vision of both Henry and Bergy than find it so easy to play with each other and the blindside running of Pires and Freddy, plus a deep running Vieira to pick up the loose balls and inject unpredictability into our attacking plays when he burst clear into the box, playing one-two and ended up with a clear shot at goal.

Unfortunately, we have only one who can play like the French Spine – Van Persie.
And to compound the porblme, it is no more “4-4-2” but a starting role as “Lone Striker” in 4-5-1 and morphed into 4-3-3 and now 4-2-3-1.

It is the individual brilliance of Van Persie that saves us…certianly, not team-play as you can see the contribution of our goal tally by other attacking players.

DO we see any blind side running from the flanks from our attacking midfielders? Like what Pires and Freddy did, suddenly ran behind Defence and a visionary thru’ ball will find ’em?

DO we see all those sublime passes splittign teh defence liek from Vieira or Bergy or Henry?
Or even quick one-two and then one of Arsenal players will run clear to goal?
We rarely see it.

It is unfortuante that after playing a total of 41 games this season, the team has yet to gell and MIDFIELD has yet to udnerstand the mvoement and mobility of Van Persie to play all those visionary thru’ balls and blindside running with Van Persie as a decoy to drag defence out of shape, creating numerous passing channel.

We can see the potential of this TEAM with Roiscky’s goal, and with Theo’s 2nd goal…..i.e..if this TEAM gells and develop a telepathic understanding of Van Persie’s movement and mobility, we will see more and more of these kinds of goals from attacking midfielders and FORWARD-3 in Theo and Gervinho,

If our average conversion rate is 17% to 20%,, then if we create 20+ decent shootting chances, we can score at least 2 goals per game now.

Yes, we had seen the first swallow of the summer, perhasp another two swallows will appear in Liverpool and Milan to confirm that “summer is here” and we are now over the blip and be our scintillating self for the rest of the season.

The key now is to harnass the movement and ability of Van Persie as a decoy to create numerous passing channels for attacking Arsenal players to shoot at goals…not forgetting that the sheer brilliance of Van Persie can always create hsi own shooting chances out of nothing.

Perhaps our fortune is changing and we had climbed out of the pit we dug ourselves in in 2011..and nowhere to go but up now.

In other words he won’t go throwing any of the £115 million away on a new contract for RVP but will instead be trawling the free transfer market come the summer.

Congratulations Arsenal on your pre-tax profit of £49.5 mill and £115 mill cash balance, how about ploughing it back into the squad and giving us a team that can complete for the title again, do that and we may take you seriously Gazidas, until then you’ll always be hypocrite.

A group of Jewish American Tourist are in London and on their itinary is listed a visit to Blooms Kosher Restaurant in Golders Green.

After being seated at the table they are served by a Chinese Waiter, who conducts the whole conversation in Yiddish.

After the meal and just before they are about to leave, they are confronted by the owner, Mr. Bloom, who asks them if they enjoyed the meal.

The leader of the group states that they were well satisfied by the food and service, but were amazed that the waiter only spoke in yiddish.

No mate, they don’t sell champagne and Beluga caviar in the stadium. Joking. Will watch it on the telly. Don’t think it will be a thumping anyway. And sure won’t miss the abuse/banter here.

Hiya folks. Back again.

A Yid and a Gunner were arguing about how many weeks a year has. The yid kept stressing the opposite to the Gunner’s answer. The Yid was arguing that it is around 39 weeks since their year starts and ends with football. However the Gunner said that football is a year all round activity with the domestic and international games. Thus it cannot be 39 weeks.

Can anyone tell me what amount of weeks the Gunner said????

ARSENAL fans have blasted Ivan Gazidis for claiming finishing outside the top four would NOT hurt the club.

The Gunners chief executive insisted missing out on the Champions League would make virtually no difference to keeping stars like 29-goal striker Robin van Persie.

Gazidis said: “There are very few clubs in the world that you would go to ahead of Arsenal in terms of consistently being there.

“I don’t see that adversely impacting on our ability to attract players or retain the top players that we have.”

But his claims on the day Arsenal revealed a pre-tax profit of almost £50million for the six months to November sparked outrage among supporters.

Mike Barnett, spokesman for the fans’ group ‘Arsenal FC, not PLC’, rapped: “That is a ridiculous thing for Ivan to have said.

“In the past few years we have qualified for the Champions League and our best players have still left, so how can we expect to keep them if we aren’t in the Champions League?

GAZ LEAK … Ivan claimed 5th is OK
“The likes of Cesc Fabregas and Samir Nasri, even Thierry Henry in 2007, all left in part because they wanted to win trophies and didn’t think they could do that with us.

“For us the Champions League is the be-all and end-all — we run a tight ship financially and losing out on £40m of Champions League money would mean we can’t attract the best players.

“Van Persie won’t be at Arsenal if we aren’t in the Champions League next season, unless he sees we are investing heavily in top-quality players.

“Ultimately, ambition has to come from the top down and this sort of statement doesn’t help.”

But Gazidis insisted: “It’s important to acknowledge the most important thing for this football club is how we do on the pitch.

“We have a healthy cash balance of £115m for the half year. But not all that money is available to invest in transfers.

“The results when some clubs live outside their means can be disastrous.”

He needs to tell us his plan.
Even if they invested dribs and drabs for three or four years, and then splurged big time,we would have light at the end of the tunnel.
Yes,I’m a broken record, but these comments merely add weight to my argument that its the board, not Wenger, limiting our spending.
Evening all.
