One hundred and twenty-five years ago our football club was born.

It was founded by a group of workers at the Dial Square workshop at the Royal Arsenal, an armaments factory in Woolwich.

To mark the occasion, The Emirates will be hosting a walk-past of some of the club’s legends, and fans will be able to admire new statues of three men who helped shape the club:

Herbert Chapman
Tony Adams
Thierry Henry

As much as the above three did so much for our club, haven’t a few been missed?

Bergkamp, Wright, Wenger?

Or even Pascal Cygan? πŸ˜‰

What aboutΒ  Bruce Rioch? Ok, I jest but he bought us this great man, this wonderful footballer, who to this day is considered to be the best overseas player to ever grace the Premier League…

Simply The Best......

Anyway….

Everton today then and needless to say, we need to get back to winning ways, the hic-cup in midweek is long gone and we are back to the Premier League battle and our target this weekend must be to break into the top four for the first time since this season kicked off.

If we win today, we will leap-frog the Chavs and be level on points with the noisy neighbours. The Chavs should get battered by the new Europa Cup favourites and Totts have a tricky trip to Stoke on Monday night – and Tony Pullis side are just starting to find some form.

Could be a good weekend, as long as we do what we need and that’s stay focussed and take nothing for granted today!

Santos is out as we know and for more than three weeks as his injury is more serious than first thought! Fabianski is also ruled out after picking up a graze on his knee so the dreaded return of Almunia is taking place, thankfully Szczesny is fit and barring another freak goal keeping injury, the waiter should just remain on the bench!

Hopefully Miquel will be slotted in at left back after his last few performances, it’s better than messing around with Vermaelen.

Jack Rodwell and Leon Osman our ruled out for Everton and Royston Drenthe is due a late fitness test but Louis Saha should return after a thigh injury.

We know our league form right now – six wins of our last seven.

We haven’t been beaten by today’s opponent in the last eight meetings and under Wenger we have beaten them thirteen times out of the fifteen matches played at home.

Everton are struggling to create and score goals and Tim Cahill said in an interview this week that he misses his old mate Mikel Arteta but goal droughts can be broken at any time, let’s make sure that for Everton, it’s not today!

The last time Everton beat us was during Wengers first season in charge, Wrighty scored our only goal with Graham Stuart and Andrei Kanchelkis scoring for the Toffees.

This season, Everton are stronger away from home than they are at Goodison Park!

They have won five matches this season and have just the one draw; three of those victories came in away fixtures.

Their leading scorer is Apostolos Vellios with three goals, ours is some Dutchman called Robin van Persie who by my reckoning has totted up just a few more than that.

So, with Everton are having more luck on the road so we need to keep our wits about us today, don’t turn out thinking that it’s going to be all too easy as they can’t score!

What we need to do is what we do best and if we do that, three points are there for the taking but give Everton an inch and they could just take us a mile….

Our players are well rested; they have no excuse for not putting in a top performance and doesn’t this weekend’s Anniversary deserve just that?

I think so to ……
