We are 'Pathetic'!! Well done Barcelona…. Witsel on his way??

Had  Bendtner scored in the dying moments in Barcelona, we could have been at Wembley last night……

I hope the Media wake up this morning and report last night’s game the way they did our match at The Emirates. After we beat the Spanish side at home, every paper, reporter and anyone other than a Gooner said we were lucky, they said we were out played and struggled from start to finish but we won, didn’t we…..

The stats showed we didn’t have the majority of possession, we didn’t have all the shots on goal, we didn’t even have that many chances, but what we did do, was win!

Last night, the Premier League Champions were out played, had little possession, had one  shot on target and were second in every aspect of the game and they lost. Good!

Barca didn’t cheat and dive last night, in fact the bad boy was Valencia – how he stayed on the pitch I’ll never know.

Anyway, that’s enough praise for Barca….

On to the usual gossip, another player, well, his father has spoken about his sons so called dream. this one is Axel Witsel:

Axel is ready to play in one of Europe’s three major leagues: Serie A, Premier League or La Liga.

I personally hope that this was his last season with Standard as he needs to grow and to do it he needs to leave the country.

Fiorentina? They have been monitoring my son for a long time and I know there was a contact with their managers but the Italian club is the not the only one interested.

He spoke with Gillet, Mudingayi and also Anthony Vanden Borre. Where he wants to go? He doesn’t have a specific target but he has a dream and it’s called Arsenal, but this doesn’t mean that he’s not open to other clubs.

He’s only 22 but he was Belgium’s best player in 2008 and this season he arrived second.

Is this another player who is calling out to Wenger to sign him?

David Villa did that a few years ago didn’t he, boy did we miss out there……

If this player really wants to play for Arsenal, can we afford to miss out again?

Finally, Nigel Winterburn has had a ‘pop’ at our defending during an interview with The Daily Star:

Pathetic is the only word I can use to describe Arsenal’s defending.

He has questioned our squads stomach for a battle on matchdays, saying:

No matter what the situation is regarding the season, at a club like Arsenal you have to turn in a performance in every game. Given where Arsenal were a couple of months ago, to be left with just fourth place is hard to take.

The supporters were not happy and I don’t blame them – what they’ve seen in the last few months has been so disappointing.

Tell it as it is Nigel, I don’t think many fans would disagree……

Morning all.’villa is a fantastic player but we have vela coming back…’.good read rico.

  2. arsenalDK says:

GOod morning everyone! Regarding Witsel, we’ve heard so many good things about him and his mate, Defour? SOme time ago, but why has no one bought any of them? I’m not sure that he is the solution. Although I really feel that we need to assess the defensive situation. Wenger will never learn. I have lost hope of us buying top talent…

  3. yozza says:

How would we have been playing at Wembley last night if we had beaten Barca? We couldn’t beat WBA (twice),Sunderland (twice) Newcastle (twice) Spurs(twice) etc etc but were going to beat Real Madrid in the semi final…..deluded!

  4. rico says:

yozza, because we’d have beaten Real Madrid in the next game… Deluded!!

Which part of ‘could’ is hard to understand??

quote ” Had Bendtner scored in the dying moments in Barcelona, we could have been at Wembley last night……”

but Bendtner didn’t score against Barca, once again he missed a sitter. Anyway, Barca missed a couple of easy ones the day we beat them

  6. steve says:

IF ARSENAL ARE GOING TO HAVE A CLEAR OUT ,MAKE SURE
WENGER IS THE FIRST TO GO,HE’S ABOUT AS GOOD AS SOME OF HIS SIGNINGS “CRAP”.

  7. Steve Palmer says:

Morning, Nice post rico Just got time to comment as i’m off to hit golf balls, Manchester United were Humiliated they got absolutely hammered and they are the best team in our league hammered i’ll say it again as all of the media have always panderer to their every whim, outclassed and hammered and as you have rightly pointed out, our game was reported as lucky, I would say United was lucky at least they had a full compliment of players for the whole game, as opposed to us, as we were reduced to ten men while still being ahead in the tie. But as Hansen and Rednapp and the other wanker that spoke after our game has said It didn’t matter what happened during the game Barcelona would have and did come out victors after destroying the best in England. ha ha made my day

  8. rico says:

Hi alan, i know, he missed we went out and end of, a great striker would have buried that chance….

  9. rico says:

    Morning steve and Steve P

Enjoy the golf Steve, catch you later when you are back 🙂

steve, he has this summer in my book, he has to make it good again

  10. K-TR7 says:

I loved seeing manc fans displaying their 19 banners.they knew thats exactly the number of times they touched the ball.

  11. ArsenalDK says:

How good can he make it rico? he needs to sell like 5-6 players and buy 3-4.. I simply cannot believe it! :/

  12. K-TR7 says:

The only downside was that yesterday the cameraman did not show evra crying.he was made to look like a mug the entire match.it wasn’t even men vs boys, more like men vs toddlers.

  13. K-TR7 says:

So long as barca have their holy triumvate:messi, xavi and iniesta they’ll dominate every team on the planet.

  14. Donkatron says:

This tackle says it all we don’t want these kind of players at our club. You can want to come to Arsenal all you want thanks but no thanks !!!

  15. rico says:

    ADK,

we should soon see what his intentions are, now the CL is done and dusted i think the transfer window will begin….

    I live in hope….

  16. K-TR7 says:

Watching xavi/iniesta destroy the mancs midfield with such ease one can only hope that jack/ramsey can reach that level or close to it one day.

  17. ArsenalDK says:

I guess it’ a glass half empty in case. I’m just so disappointed, over his lack of action. Luckily i’m away for a couple of months very soon, and I tell you, i’m not listening to any rumors about us, being linked with every player on the planet. I think i’ll wake up the 1st of September, and see if something has changed 😀

  18. rico says:

We are being linked to Craig Gordon this morning, haven’t seen that one for a while 😉

Ha ha Kt, i loved seeing them get battered, all the stick their fans gave us, at least we beat them in London 🙂

Credit where it’s due, Barca were outstanding…

  19. K-TR7 says:

Did anyone see the mid air shot on the half turn that iniesta attempted from 40 yards out that nearly caught out VDS?…those guys are very talented.

  20. agirlagunner says:

Boo! Hello, all. We all enjoyed that, didn’t we? If the results had been reversed, I’m sure I’d have enjoyed it as well. 😀

One thing noticeable about the Catalans last night was that they looked well… relaxed. Like they knew they were going to win.

In fact, they weren’t playacting or simulating like they were against us. Over the two legs of the Barcelona-Arsenal tie, they looked constantly nervous. And particularly wary of our runners!

Poor Evra…. the babykins, must be feeling crap. Good!!

  21. rico says:

ADK, i understand exactly where you are coming from, for the last 3/4 summers i have thought ‘this is the one’ but Wenger never fails to dissapoint. My hope comes from Stan and the reports that he has told Wenger to buy ‘proper’ players…..

  22. K-TR7 says:

In Europe this season we were the team that came closest to knocking them out.the reason is because in midfield and attack we have players that can swivel away from pressure on a six pence.jack at the Emirates created lots of space for us by beating 3/4 players in a single turn and accelerating away.not many teams have that and its so frustrating because with some decent buys we could dominate England and maybe challenge the top seeds in Europe.

  23. rico says:

That is what makes it all so much worse Kt, so close with what we have, had Wenger showed a little more ambition in his transfer dealings, maybe we would have knocked them out…

    A clynical striker would help…

  24. agirlagunner says:

I know, KT!!! Ahaha, his hands had a nervous tic. Xavi was outstanding. Barcelona did not even have to get out of second gear, it seems, but you don’t hear the English press tearing into the Mancs like they did us… To think that we actually won. 😉

rico, you are right it’s a wonder Valencia stayed on. But I can’t say I did not like seeing the Mancs barging into the Catalans. I’d have preferred more wayward elbows and bloodied noses though. Bloodthirsty, that’s me. 😀

ADK, we will have right-sized by 1 September. Sold our deadwood, and brought in 3 or 4 fantastic signings. Well, one can hope….

  25. rico says:

You remember our old boy Seb Larsson (spelling) well he is available on a bosman this summer….

  26. silentstan says:

Morning all.’villa is a fantastic player but we have vela coming back…’.good read rico.

i hope that was a joke

  27. rico says:

I was hoping for a few red cards being branded too agag, just to hamper their start to the CL next season 😉

  28. rico says:

    Hi silentstan,

rumour is vela is staying but I can’t compare him to David Villa, his goal last night was simply stunning, his calmness, control and excecution is what we can only dream of at arsenal…..

Vela needs a good run in the side though, he is talent just waiting to explode 😉

  29. K-TR7 says:

Silentstan thats what Wenger said in 08 when he was asked if he would sign villa after he begged Wenger to sign him.

  30. deejaybee says:

men against girls. Barcelona were looking to force a shirt on evra last night for his 3 assists. man of the match performance.

  31. rico says:

Another one Wenger got terribly wrong, we all ask for players who want to play for Arsenal, Villa said he did, why on earth did wenger not sign him…..

djb – i think our girls would have put up more of a fight than the mancs did 😉

  32. agirlagunner says:

I hope we don’t let go of Vela yet. Oodles of skill, just low on confidence at the moment. 🙂

Good one, deejay, MotM, indeed. But might I revise your statement? It was– there’s no two ways about it– Men v. BABY GIRLS. 🙂

  33. K-TR7 says:

The mancs expected barca to walk the ball in the net only for barca to shoot from distance.last season we were the top scorers from outside the penalty area but this season we didn’t have a single goal at the Emirates from distance.thats the only aspect of denilson’s game that was worthwhile.

  34. rico says:

Strange though Kt, I recall the one Cesc hit from miles out to defeat Real Madrid in the CL, i wonder why our players have stopped shooting at any opportunity…

  35. K-TR7 says:

Another aspect about barca is how they conserve their energy.when you look at their play they don’t run alot instead they let the ball do the running.this is matched with their superb positioning and off the ball movement is a delight to watch but devastating to defend against.

  36. rico says:

Oops, i knew it was somewhere abroad Kt 😉 😉

Regardless, it was from way out, why doesn’t he do that now, Rosicky scored two blinders against the Dippers from outside the box – we just don’t shoot anymore…

  37. hal says:

    rico,

If Vela deserves a run in the side, quite frankly so do I. I am 6ft 3 and a rugged centre half for my sunday team so might just, given the chance, solve our defenive problems. Time may not be on my side (at 55), but I’ve shown as much as Vela ever has.

This guy couldnt make West Brom’s 16 man squad in the last few days of the season. Never convinced the manger …of WEST BROM..to give him a run in the team during his entire loan spell, and then couldnt make the 16 man squad. Come off it. How much convicing do you need, and just why do people love this guy? If he is worth a chance, Bendtner should be made captain for the next 20 years. Vela is the most overrted player I’ve ever seen.

He is, along with Denislon and Almunia, the very worst of the dross that hamper our club. There are some others, Like Diaby and Bendtner, who many fans dislike, but they have at least shown to be decent on occassion. The three that I have mentioned have never done that. Denislon and Vela are the two players in the squad who simply do not have what it takes to even be premier league players because they are physically lacking. Its not a matter of strength or speed, they are physicaly like chrildren when pitched into a premier league game, and there is just no way around that.

Like many others I was excited by the Mexican, but he is just too insignificant on the pitch to make an impact. He might make it in Spain (but I doubt it), but his presence, to turn around one of the mangers favourite phrases, is ‘killing’ any class player we might otherwise add to the squad.

  38. K-TR7 says:

Rosicky used to have a cannon of a shot.its a shame that since he got injured he has been a pale imitation of who he was.

  39. rico says:

    Hi hal

Vela needs a good run in the side though, he is talent just waiting to explode 😉

    Notice the little wink 😉

I couldn’t care if he stays or goes if i’m honest, but he has never been given a real chance, unlike Diaby, Almunia, Denilson, Eboue, Rosicky who all never fail to dissapoint…..

As long as we keep RvP, Sagna, Theo, Jack, Ramsey, Ches, TV, the rest can clear off if they don’t want to play for us…. ( i may have missed one or two)

  40. Will says:

I am still feeling good about the transfer window.

It would be interesting to see what the media says about the battering.

  41. rico says:

Kt, he has now been told to find another club, according to reports, looks like Stan is starting to wield the axe ….

  42. Will says:

I have no idea why Rico, I just do. Maybe it is teh Stan factor or maybe it is teh fact Wenger knows he needs to start winning but I see a good window for us.

  43. Gooner4life&beyond says:

hal, Vela deserves a chance because we have given chances to likes of Bendtner and Aliadiere through the years, while he has not receieved anything like the playing time they have.

Say what you want about West Brom, but they are a good side and Odemwingie was one of the best strikers this year, Vela was never going to displace him and the manager (who replaced the one that wanted Vela), obviously didn’t think they could work together.

  44. rico says:

I been telling myself that for the last 4/5 summers Will, this one has to be the one 😉

We’ll see soon enough and I sure hope you are right…

  45. rico says:

G4L, i think Vela has been a bit hard done by, joined us, loaned for years, finally gets to afc and doesn’t get his chance, yet plays for his country… comes back knackered and can’t play

Then, just as it seems he is going to start getting a few chances he gets up to naughtiness with mexico, gets banned for playing for his country and his game is gone, wenger hardly plays him and now his confidence is shot to pieces…

what he needs is a great attitude in pre-season if he stays, knuckle down and play well, then he might earn his chance and show wenger why he deserves to be given it…

  46. hal says:

Hi Rico…I’m soooooooo behind you on that.

Kind of tells you a lot about the current players doesn’t it? Trouble is, all of our dead wood are so well paid, it will be difficult to shift them. Ah well, thats what Arsene and Ivan are paid so much to do.

Btw, can we all just wish a big good luck to Benik Afobe today? He could just be one for the future (I know, I know, but we have to be optimistic don’t we??)

  47. deejaybee says:

I can’t see wenger signing more than 3 players, at most. Its not in his nature, therefore there won’t be a mass exodus. I’m worried he will buy more dross… Whilst samba is better than squilacci, its hardly an inspirational signing, and wont keep nasri / fabrigas interested. Top players inspire confidence. We dont have enough ‘top’ players, and those we do have play half a season.

  48. rico says:

Spot on hal, they are paid too much for under performing and the kids are paid too much for not even ‘making it’ yet.. And Wenger wonders why he has little money…

Afobe and Cuks hal, the next two to come through after Jack, Lansbury and Bartley before them…

  49. deejaybee says:

” It was carnival time on Merseyside last night as arch rivals Manchester United got completely stitched up by the boys from Barcelona. “Best game I’ve seen all season”, laughed Whacker Norris a Liverpool season ticket holder.

Everton and Liverpool fans celebrated long into the night after watching Messi, Iniesta and Xavi run rings round the United midfield.

Fires were lit in the streets around Anfield as hundreds came out to celebrate Alex Ferguson’s team being played off the park. An impromptu firework display lit-up Stanley Park as pubs and clubs reported record business, with hastily branded Manc 3-1 bitter suddenly the most popular choice.

“Blinkin’ marvellous match”, slurped a pissed out of his brain Yosser Trogg. “I thought Giggs and Ji-Sung Park were bloody monumentally uselessly fantastic”.

Meanwhile, United striker Dimitar Berbatov also enjoyed the game.

Given the night off by Sir Alex, United’s top scorer watched the match in a Liverpool pub with a crowd of delirious scousers.

Wonder where he’s going next! ”

Confirmed.. MANURE ARE THE MOST HATED TEAM IN THE UK

  50. rico says:

    hi djb,

I’d be happy if we signed Samba and another like Cahill, he’s a better option than another unknown who doesn’t play EPL football…

While Kos has been ok, i think he struggles a bit with the pace of the gamme and the pysical side of it, Samba is a no nonense defender….

  51. W.A.T.H says:

Afternoon ppl of the house and House Boss herself 😉

I reckon sell the whole team they are utterly shit and lets start from scratch…………!

  52. rico says:

Deep Joy, another kid on a massive wage….

    Zak Ansah signs professional contract

Arsenal Football Club is delighted to announce that young striker Zak Ansah has signed his first professional contract with the Club.

The England Youth International, who turned 17 earlier this month, rose through the academy ranks at Hale End to make his debut for the Under-18s at just 14. After three seasons with Steve Bould’s side, Ansah has racked up an impressive tally of 12 goals from his 20 appearances.

Zak, who joined Arsenal when he was ten years old, got his first taste of Reserve football in 2010/11, coming on as a substitute against Newcastle United at St. James’ Park, and was part of the Under-19s squad to travel to Texas, USA for the Dallas Cup in April, which he marked with a superb goal against Chorrillo FC.

  53. Will says:

Arsenal owner Stan Kroenke has reassured fans the club will buy players during the summer transfer window but hinted there will not be an extravagant spending spree.
    Full story: Metro

  54. rico says:

I think so, Messi wouldn’t be given the time he gets with Paddy in the side 😉

50M is reported in the Daily Express, that’s how much Wenger has to spend, that doesn’t include cash generated from sales….

  55. arsenal man says:

And how has this turned into a debate about just vela??
Anyway big signings or not, I am behind my team, it kills me slowyly to watch the way they fail on countless occasions, but they are my team and there is nothing I can do about that.

  56. Lucy says:

Even if Bendtner scored against Barca, we will be defeated by Real Madrid and —. I couldn’t expect to reach to the final with the current feeble squad.

Man united is the super club in the premier league. AW’s stupid philosophy resulted a bad consequence for the last six seasons. Hope it will be continued as Man city is investing more and Liverpool is rejuvenating

  57. Will says:

I think a lot of the kids who won’t make it Rico. Can’t name them, I am just saying I think there will be a clear out as I don’t think Stan will want to pay players who will never make it at the club.

  58. John says:

Also nobody has mentioned that tactically that Fergie got it wrong far wrong than what Wenger did over the two legs against Barca. Starting playing no natural holding midfielder or John O’Shea with Carrick was just asking to be beat. If was not for Nicklas Bendtner we would have beaten Barcelona over two legs and probably made to the final.

Just hows first 11 is not perfect but we have the best in the League and shows their is no depth to the sqaud and that’s the reason why we finished fourth instead of first.

  59. Joaquim moreira says:

    Good morning!
A goal off-side and yellow cards (one red ?…) for showing players of MU. The usual.
As I have said, Barcelona and Real Madrid are by far the two best teams in Europe.
Axel is being “observed ” by many teams.
    See the news

  60. rico says:

Will, you should be able to list them all now, they were all in yesterdays post 😉 😉

I can see a divide between Stan and Wenger if the kids have to go, half of them wenger has bought…

Definately needs a huge cull though, like we said yetserday we have too many at the same age/standard fighting for a place, it just won’t work…

  61. rico says:

I posted earlier about another young un just signed pro terms, maybe that is what’s going on now – the kids are being sorted out, pro-contract or out (if age permits)

once that is done, the proper transfers will be sorted as the wage bill will be up to date…

    wishful thinking?? 😉

  62. rico says:

credit to fergie in his i/v, he just says they were battered, no excuses, no nothing, just battered…

hope wenger was watching, thats the best way to deal with the media, not blame the grass, wind or ref…

  63. W.A.T.H says:

As much as it’s nice to gloat that the mans got destroyed and played off the park back to reality and that is that I really don’t give a flying fuck in the real world, what bother me is what goes on at Arsenal or rather lack of what’s going on at Arsenal is more apt…..! Why is our manager on holiday should he not be earning his huge salary and getting new players lined up and signed ready for the new season…?

  64. rico says:

He better bloody not be WATH, he should be sorting out future out!! Who is sorting the kids contracts out if he is away??

  65. K-TR7 says:

When Guardiola took over at Barca they had just finished 3rd in the league 10 points behind villareal in 2nd.they were all tippy tappy and defensively poor.Guardiola came in and brought an element of increased workrate in the team and letting go of the players who wouldn’t adhere to this (Deco/dinho).this made them very strong in defense.they lost their 1st league game of 08/09 but since then they have been the best team in Europe.i feel we are at a pre-Guardiola phase where we need refreshing as we definitely have quality.whether Aw is the man to do it i don’t know but we need change thats for sure.Guardiola may have inherited alot of talented players but he has had to work very hard to form this team as evidenced by how much hair he has lost.

  66. W.A.T.H says:

KT, as has been said before we need a major kick up the arse in the backroom staff as well, a change in attitude and mentality because as much as developing players is important at youth level they needed a winning mentality as well and thats deemed secondary…! What a joke that is as they carry that mentality into the rest of their career at the club… Needs to change drastically. Keown as said Arsenal through and through and has the right mentality.

  67. Will says:

Arsenal (6/1 to win the 2011/2012 Premier League title with bet365) midfielder Aaron Ramsey believes manager Arsene Wenger will be busy in the transfer market this summer as the club look to end their spell without silverware.

The Gunners last tasted success back in 2005 when they lifted the FA Cup trophy after beating rivals Manchester United on penalties.

Since that season, Arsenal have continued to play their exciting and attractive style of football but have not turned their entertaining talents into titles.

Wenger has been under pressure in recent years to splash the cash in the transfer market but has failed to convince the critics he can spend the club’s money well.

Ramsey is confident a number of new faces will be arriving at the Emirates in the summer, as Arsenal (20/1 to win the 2011/2012 Champions League title bet365) look to win some silverware next term.

He said: “I expect Arsene will be active in the transfer market.

“There have been a few names mentioned and I am sure there will be a few players in and out.

“Obviously we haven’t won anything for a long time. The pressure has grown and the fans have been quite vocal lately. But the spirit in the dressing room is the same as always.”

  68. Gooner4life&beyond says:

Of course the invincibles could have beaten them, THIS Arsenal side has beaten Barca. So where is the logic in thinking a much better Arsenal team couldn’t?

Bergkamp, Henry, Pires, Ljungberg, Vieira. They’d do Barca on the counter if nothing else.

  69. Will says:

Rico, I say 06 because we lost Flamini and Diarra so that was the time to say eff it, let’s get some top players in and the 16 year olds will grow into it.

  70. rico says:

Will, I’m glad Ramsey has said that, maybe ‘Ramsey Knows’ 😉

    G4L, i think the same..

In reality, the 05 FA Cup final told us we needed to build then….

  71. Will says:

Maybe 05 but once we lost the safety net of Flamini and Diarra. We needed to build from them.

  72. Will says:

Rico, it is more the experience they brought which allowed us some time to get the young kids up but once those two went, we were in trouble regarding experience.

  73. Pacman says:

Rico, yeah we should have build on success from then, we had weak links back then to.. But Wenger is not the man who always want to improve.

  74. rico says:

Flippin heck, this ref is generous, that should be two straight reds in the last five mins…

  75. rico says:

No-one will convince me about Flamini Will…

Pacman, we have always had weak links but wenger fills the void with a player out of position, doesn’t very often pay off either….

  76. Will says:

I think Wenger will spend big for two main reasons.

    1) Stan will want to start with a winning team and knows that a winning team makes money.

    2) I am sure Wenger will know it was a close run thing for us to be out of the top 4 and with Liverpool and Tottenham sure to spend big, I think Wenger knows he needs to get in proven winners to even just maintain our position.

  77. rico says:

I’m agreeing with you Pacman, we had the weak area, build on what we had – but what did AW do, let our experience gradually leave and replace with poor substitutes, he has to rectify that this summer….

  78. rico says:

But it didn’t make any difference when the tiny totts took us right to the last day, the season when lasagne helped us out…

Could be right about Stan though Will, he just needs to get the message through to Wenger

  79. JonJon says:

witsels been on his way for years..
    as well as defour..

you’d had thought with all the world class players belguim had they would be amongst the top sides in the world..

tommy v, vertongen, aberwield, defour, felliani, witsel, hazard, lakuka..

all supposedly world class..what rubbish..belguim are shit

only player id take in honesty is hazard..weve already got tv..the rest can go to someone else..

  80. Joaquim moreira says:

    news:
I think no longer interested in: 🙂
    a) Manchester United will make a proposal for 14 million pounds (16, 2 million) by Ashley Young, Aston Villa player.
The amount advanced is the Daily Mail on Sunday that further emphasizes the interest from Manchester City and Liverpool’s Young. However, according to British publication, the player has a preference for the emblem of Old Trafford, where he is seen as the successor to Ryan Giggs.
The contract that binds Ashley Young to Aston Villa ends in June 2012.

    We still interested?
    b) Premiership Club throughout the week will present a proposal for the average Ivorian Lille. According to British media supply may reach 20 million.
After all, there were others. Newcastle had already expressed interest in hiring Yohan Cabaye to Lille, but Gervinho is also on the shopping list of magpies for the new season and is considered a priority to strengthen the midfield.
Recently holy champion of France, the Ivory Coast international, 24, is receptive to a move to English Premiership clubs and expects to reach consensus.

if young goes for 14 mil and villa got him for 9 then it just goes to show how little interest wenger has in british players.

unless they are 4 years old and he can take the credit for developing them hes not interested

  82. rico says:

    Hi jj and JM

Can’t believe Gervinho would prefer Newcastle, surely he’d want CL football

jj, re Witsel, just keeping you updates on the rumours 😉 As for Young, that price is cheap as chips for a Brit, like you say, shows Wenger doesn’t want to buy british and it’s very wrong…..

  83. JonJon says:

flamini was much better than diarra..
diarras only ever inpressed at pompey hes been overated everywhere else..
just a big cry baby..never even got a sniff in our first team, whereas flamini gave us 4 years of solid service also playing at LB and he should have been tied down in 2006..
we let him go when he was 24 just coming into his prime and hes never been replaced..

  84. rico says:

Wenger should be watching this game on today, and the one tomorrow… if he wants cheaper players that will show passion and full comittment..

  85. rico says:

jj, he played against Barca in the CL semi’s 😉

Ok, i’ll agree re Parker 😆

    Shame for Afobe 🙁

  86. JonJon says:

rico if i read the rumour blog i would go insane..
the window aint even open yet and im nervous..

  87. rico says:

what was the final score G4L, it was 2-0 and Afobe subbed so i turned off…

it’s hilarious jj, talk about cuckoo land 🙂

  88. rico says:

That’s horrid for him, i thought Huddersfield were going to get a break through, they were all over the posh, then a cracking free kick and header, flukey defelction and i’d had enough – bloody ferguson…

  89. rico says:

That rumour site i was on about, guess what someone has just posted…

Eden Hazard is at The Emirates this afternoon, he has been seen….

    😆 😆

    Yep, it’s really been posted…..

  90. Joaquim moreira says:

    Only ?
After having secured the Champions League, FC Barcelona will submit next week a proposal to Arsenal for Spanish midfielder Cesc Fabregas.
According to British media, next week the Catalan giant will present a proposal valued at about EUR 34.5 million to try to convince those in charge of the ‘Gunners’ to forgo the Spanish international.
Barca last season had tried to hire Fabregas, who has a contract until 2014, but Arsenal turned down the offer.

  91. Lucy says:

Let Fabregas go to Barca. He is very interested to join Barca. I wish if AW sign Senijer, Striker Benzema and Ashely Young for the replacement of Sesc, Bendtner and Rosicky, respectively

  92. JonJon says:

    haha ricolicious..
you do cheer me up..like a ray of sunshine on a dark pissy rainy gooner day and your like the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow.. 😉

i watched the leeds game..haha good times good stuff..
    that team spoiled us..

anyone reckon the invincibles could have had the curretn barca side??

the team we had in 2006 wasnt our best..
our 2003-04 team was an animal..
i reckon if that team played todays barca we’d do em..

henry should have won world player of the year a few times..30 goals a season for 5 years as well as 25 assists he was amazingly god like..

barca have got one in messi and real have ronaldo..thats how good henry was..

  93. K-TR7 says:

The london police are very concerned about the sudden disappearance of the manchester united fans who were there at Wembley one minute only to completely vanish after the final whistle.the police have checked the airports but to no avail.anyone with any leads has been advised to call 0800 3-1 3-1 3-1.

  94. K-TR7 says:

Henry was a beast jj.he was a machine.he was unlucky that he had to compete with zidane/Ronaldo/dinho but still he should’ve won it at least twice.our failings in Europe also had an impact on that.

  95. rico says:

    Guys/Gals

I’m done for the day, few things to be doing 🙁

catch you all tomorrow sometime – have a fab evening all…

    nighty…

  96. JonJon says:

you know what makes it worse rico…is that i actually think we may sign hazard..lol
but i dont wana see no words i wanna see actions..

if youngs going for 14 then we wanna bid for him as well..
and if we dont get benzema or falcoa then we might as well put a cheeky get your money back on bent offer to villa seeing as though theres a clear out..
    two gunners..
youngs a good winger, and bent has hit 15-20 goals a season in every team hes played in pl..and hes durable..hes fit all the time..bent is 27 and played almost 500 games at top level..hes a machine..i say we get him..get them both..and dunne… 😉

    40mil for lot… 😉

  97. JonJon says:

    ktr
if we win europe mate its no contest..
if henry won more medals he would have been accepted as the best in the world at some point..

on that note i honestly think thats where weve gone wrong

wenger was ruthless the way he culled the invincibles…we should have kept more of them to transfer the winning mentailty..vieira, henry, pires, all playing now still..we could have kept a few of them like manu did with giggs and scholes..

  98. rico says:

    just caught your comment jj

Suggestion is Young prefers Manure, replacement for Giggs? Why Wenger doesn’t put an offer in i dont know, he’s cheap for a brit winger ..

Maybe Hazard is the reason he doesn’t want Young but surely Young is a cheaper option and he’s a gooner…

I don’t know, like you i just want to see the signings but history suggests that whoever we get linked to, we seldom sign….

All will soon become clear i guess……

    🙁

  99. K-TR7 says:

JJ its almost sad how times have changed.henry was a 1 man army.to be fair in this season’s CL we are the only side to have come remotely close to beating them at their own game.its because we have the likes of jack who can swivel away from pressure easily.Arsene just needs to add something and maybe hope rvp can stay fit and firing to fill the henry/iceman void.

  100. K-TR7 says:

I remember us at the Bernabeu against Zidane/Becks/Raul/R.carlos/Ronaldo.we were huuuge underdogs.after HT henry just waltzed past half the galacticos to give us the win.i still remember that game.

  101. Lee says:

JJ, re your earlier question…… I really believe that 03/04 team would beat the current barca team….

  102. K-TR7 says:

I think the flamini/fabregas/sicky/hleb midfield of 07/08 would’ve also given them a run for their money if they had been kept together till now.

  103. K-TR7 says:

I don’t think the invincibles would comfortably beat barca.they may run them close or maybe sneak a win but id bet barca to win most of the time.

  104. JonJon says:

    invincibles..

we have the blueprint to beat them
they press high can u imagine how many times we’d hit them at speed with henry pires cole reyes broke free
    against puyol and pique
    it would be a 5 on 2
we had vieira and gilberto..they would have provided the protection..then we had campbell..
    we would have countered ktr…
they would score but i feel our style and players back then would have been the perfect foil for barca and we’d score more

  105. K-TR7 says:

Xavi completed 148 passes last night only misplacing 7,95% success rate.he and iniesta passed the ball between them 60 times.

  106. K-TR7 says:

I see what you are saying jj but the same was said of madrid but they barely had a chance to counter.all that passing and pressing wears a team down both physically and psychologically.even when you win the ball at the edge of your area you are worn out and the distance to their goal is too large to cover.guess we’ll never know for sure but id like to see Wenger mix the physical, direct play of the invincibles and tiki taka.that would be an unstoppable combination.

  107. JonJon says:

i was about to say that ktr
    about wearing teams down
they just tire you out but if you keep hitting them on the counter with players with speed and quality like henry in his prime with his buddies barca will have to run and run hard too..
it would be a blinder of a game..

  108. K-TR7 says:

JJ united fans displayed banner written ’19’.i guess that was about right.i was amazed to see barca had completed 111 passes in 15 minutes despite being dominated for 8 or so minutes.

  109. K-TR7 says:

JJ i was thinking that if Alvarez is a gem if we sign him,rvp and theo up front we may have a physical frontline with pace and technique providing directness.jack/cesc/nasri in midfield can provide the ammunition.they can also tiki taka when necessary.behind them we need a big strong DM.i think that combination would give barca or any team for that matter a run for their money.
