Walcott & Sterling swap on the cards? Pires knows but do today's squad?

Morning Gooners….

Bit of gossip from the red tops.

According to The Sun, Wenger is ready to offer Liverpool Theo Walcott plus £8 million for their super-kid Raheem Sterling. I’m sure that is just The Sun playing Fantasy football transfers.

The Daily Mirror are running a story in which Wenger has stressed how fed up he is about our better players leaving:

You think I’m not fed up? I want them to stay, he [Walcott] was fantastic last year in this game. He will certainly be again.

It’s always important to keep your best players. If that should happen we’ll replace him with someone – another big name. Or make another big name.

Anyway, enough of all that, onto today, a fixture that ‘really’ matters!

Every time we face our North London rivals, the game is huge, massive beyond all proportions. It’s them, we have to beat them  and we have to keep the pride on our side of North London!! I have to remain courteous about neighbour, otherwise someone may text 67777 and shop me to the club.

Keep the Pride

So, at 12.45hrs today, home at the Emirates and a fixture that brings out the largest number of supporters from London – two clubs go head to head, both with a wealth of history, we just have a lot more than them.

We have won only two home games so far this season: the 6-1 demolition of Southampton and the 1-0 win over QPR and that really is something that needs changing.

Thomas Vermaelen:

This isn’t a normal game – it’s a special one. Practically, we need to get three points on the board, but I think it would give both the fans and the team a massive boost if we won. Last season we came back from 2-0 down, working really hard for a memorable turnaround. We want to create the same impetus this time and it’s a big opportunity to do so.

If you look at the league table, we’re not too far behind third and fourth places. Nothing is lost yet – a win against Spurs would be a big step.

If we want to be getting into the top four and stand any chance of winning a trophy this season, our home performances and results have to vastly improve, starting today!

If we want to stop surrendering leads our defence needs to be more organised, our midfield have to work a lot harder and whoever starts between the posts today has to be far more focussed and committed to the cause, starting today.

Our chances on goal have to be buried hard into the back of the net, time and time again, starting today.

Today matters, today means so much to all Gooners, much more than just three points.

Arsene Wenger and Steve Bould have a huge part to play, Bould with the history lesson, Wenger with his tactics. Both need to get it spot on!

The players, who over the last few weeks, months even have looked lethargic and all too often out of ideas, well that needs to change, today! They need to be ready to take on the neighbours who are getting too noisy these days and put them in their place.

Sir Bobby Pires wasn’t a born and bred Gooner, he wasn’t even English, but he knew what a NLD was all about:

Q: Robert, it’s the north London derby against Tottenham on Saturday. Did you really look forward to these games when you were at Arsenal?

Yes, very much so, simply because it’s the derby and it’s the big one. It’s always a tough game with a cracking atmosphere. But above all it’s a match you can’t afford to lose, plain and simple. Over the years a great rivalry has developed between the two clubs and that’s why when you play at home it’s a must-win for the fans.

How confident are you that Arsenal will win against Tottenham on Saturday?

It’s always hard in derby games, but you have to fight right until the end. The players know that it will be tough so you need good team spirit and a high level of motivation, which is always vital. If that’s there, anyone can be beaten.

They shouldn’t need to be reminded about what today means to Arsenal fans, if our boys are not up for this game they should not be in the red and white that represents OUR club, our history and just what days like today mean to us!

Come on you Gunners, fight for your lives and give us the win we all want and so desperately need!

    Morning all….

‘It’s always important to keep your best players. If that should happen we’ll replace him with someone – another big name. Or make another big name’.

    Fill your boots Gnabry ……

  2. Lewis says:

    Morning all.
I have greeted recent fixtures with a certain amount of apathy recently. Not Today! 3 points and a committed performance would go some way to restoring a little bit of much needed faith within the fan base. We have to win this game!

  3. agirlagunner says:

Finally, some time to blog! Come on you, Gunners!! Fry the spuds.

This Theo business is getting tiresome. He is not worth the 100K a week he’s alleged to be asking for.

Hi, rico! How are you?? Hello, all!!

  4. rico says:

    Lewis,

It’s the bee all and end all right now isn’t it, losing cannot be in the squads mind, neither can a draw.

Earlier this year when we played them at The Ems, we’d had a few naff results and the victory inspired us. That is what we need again today, but who in the squad will finally grow a pair and grab hold of the players and this game and make sure we win??

  5. Lewis says:

Liverpool would never swap Walcott for sterling, they cud get him for free in the summer so what would be the point.

  6. rico says:

    Usually is Lewis….

    Hi agag, good thanks, you?

Lee made a good point earlier though, pay him what he wants and then if he’s rubbish, sell him for a good price in a years time…

  7. rico says:

I don’t believe the story either, Rogers would be a fool…

Mind you, he is, he should have stayed at Swansea …

  8. Scott from Oz says:

Rico,do you think Gnabry will end up a better player for Arsenal than Theo?
Youknow i Want us to keep Theo, but i know you have a soft spot for both of them.
    Which is it 🙂

  9. TT says:

It’s a sign of how badly Wenger and the zombies on the board have managed my club that I cant even get my self psyched up for this game….

  10. rico says:

    I don’t have a soft spot for Theo, that’s just most people’s assumption, I just think he’ll come good…

But others judge him on the here and now and I understand why fans want him gone…

  11. Scott from Oz says:

Rico,i rib you on Theo, but you do know i really like him.
I love the fact he loves the club, and that is told,in my eyes.
I do have big doubts on whether he can improve, but i do not think it is beyond him.
He is not worth the money being thrown about…..but then,we do not truly know what he is asking for,and it could be just media talk.
    This is the problem.
    What exacly is the truth??

  12. TT says:

Scott there is a reason. To me beating of the spuds is not the highlight of my season at all. Winning something is. And the sad fact is that the spuds actually have won something in the last 7 years……you see were I’m coming from? If we win today and go on to do fuck all after that as we usually do what will we gain? The bragging rights in a portion of north London is all and that my friend is meaning less to me unless we can rub a fresh trophy in their face at the same time.

  13. Scott from Oz says:

    TT,i disagree.
My highlight is watching Arsenal play great football.
Trophies……yeah, been there, done that but that is just me.
Next year, the highlight of my life….well, after my wedding day and kids being born…..will be fulfilled.
    The Emirates……here i come,!

  14. TT says:

Not that much difference Lewis, at least not to me. It’s far more painful to see other clubs bask in the glory of winning titles and cups than loosing to the spuds. I have never really looked at the suds game as the most important game of the season, it was always the team fighting for the title that I got psyched up for, like UTD and Chelsky and Liverpool before that. Spuds have never been in that category since I was born….

  15. rico says:

Like agag Scott, I’m tired with the whole thing to do with TW to be honest, his contract should never be allowed to get to this situation. yet again the club have mucked it up…

  16. Scott from Oz says:

Rico,i can not understand why people knock any club when a contract runs down.
No clib can make a player extend if he doesn’t want to,or is asking for unreasonable terms.
Keep in mind we are rumoured to be looking at several top
Class players who are in the same situation,so every club suffers the same fate!

  17. Scott from Oz says:

    Remember,
2 years and then 18 monthe before RVP’s terms were up,the club attempted talks, but he declined them.
    Tell me,what do you do??

  18. JW says:

    Good morning all,

One thing I do not want to see today is some sort of love in taking place in the tunnel prior to kick-off. I was frankly sickened by the sight of Arsenal players hugging and kissing the Dutch Judas before the Manure game.

We are Arsenal! It’s Spuds we are playing! This is The North London Derby!

  19. stevepalmer1 says:

    Morning all,
Nice one Rico, from previous results we have not been at our best, we have had some of the top teams and have not covered ourselves in glory in fact we have been pretty ugly we seem to have lost the will to win we seem to have no confidence we have Jack back which is a plus but the downside is he is not back to his best we have a couple out injured but in all honesty they are out all the time as far as i am aware we are a point behind them, can we muster the drive the spirit the desire to kick this scum back down to their swamp to be honest i’m not sure we can we have players who have not played in a NLD they don’t understand the passion of the fans they consider this game as just another game and by what i have seen of our football this season that doesn’t bode that well. We have problems at the back we have problems up front we have problems in the middle lets face it we have problems. On the plus side they aint playing that well either, they have a useless coach, we are at home and they have to pay high prices for our pies, apart from that can we do it. The fans will be singing the place will be banged out the scum supporters will be all smiles but they will feel the same as us nobody will feel that confident, fans players managers but they will all have their fingers crossed Moses was a jew and he parted the red sea but that was just a mirical and spuds are not that lucky COYG’ss

  20. rico says:

    You are assuming again Scott

If the club had that policy and we knew then no, i would not be moaning.

But, if the club made sure we had a squad that looked like it was going places, then players wouldn’t be looking elsewhere to win trophies..

  21. tsGH says:

    Morning all,

    I am back from Wengerland.

Hi Scott, I knew I could count on you to keep the positive energy up on here. I agree totally with the contracts situation. Theo declined to discuss contract extension before Cesc and Nastry left.

    COYGsss

  22. JW says:

    Steve,

In all honesty local derbies are not what they used to be, it’s really only the media that builds them up, yes the fans get a bit more excited than usual but the factory floor has all but disappeared and a lot of the rivalry has gone along with it.

The players live in a world totally detached from the one the fans live in, they are cocooned in their luxury homes driving their supercars and living on wages most of us can only dream about.

There will be the usual talk of “passion” and “commitment” but it’s all just window dressing really,

What can players like Podolski, Giroud, Cazorla, Gervinho etc know about the feelings of the fans brought up on generations of intense rivalry. Even players who have been at the club a while do not really understand how the fans feel about this particular game, nor I suspect, does Wenger.

  23. agirlagunner says:

I like that battlecry, emma! 🙂

Scott, if only our players worked as hard as we did, eh?

So many problems, SSP. I agree. 🙁 We are just not looking like a winning team, are we??

  24. Scott from Oz says:

Agag, our players work….i wish the board did lol.
    Fair call Rico…i am assuming,but i reckon i am right 🙂

  25. tsGH says:

😀 Adebawhore whoring himself out with this comment. This man has no shame at all.

“The players at Arsenal are good but sometimes you need more than good to win a trophy. You also need luck. You never know but the league looks over for them and the Champions League looks tough, so I cannot see them winning any trophies.

“You also need people who say OK, I will give my life on the pitch. That is rare in football.”

He has forgotten he is the stereotype for players who gave nought to Arsenal and AW.

  26. stevepalmer1 says:

Hi Agag hope your well luv, No not been at our best upto now but things change quick in football and we have seen remarkable changes in the past, we normally need a springboard to start us off and that could be today 🙂

Hi JW very true mate but among the faithfull it does matter and as we go along hopfully that will filter down that is if we can keep them long enough 🙂

  27. agirlagunner says:

But they let their heads drop, Scott. And are often complacent. It can be so frustrating. Grrr. They need a confidence booster, and a win against the Spuds is just the answer, I think. 🙂

  28. JW says:

I shall be watching the recording later this afternoon, it’s off to the (not so) dry slope for me as it’s my grand-daughter’s ski lesson and it’s p*****g down right now.

I can’t make my mind up whether I should watch England hammer the Wallabies before or after watching Arsenal hammer the spuds.

    Nothing personal Scott! 🙂

    C’mon the Glorious Gunners!!!

  29. tsGH says:

Mr JW I would disagree with your last paragraph at 11:12am. I think it is quite off the mark to assume only English/British football have football rivalry.

Contrary to what the media will like to project football rivalry in this country is know where as intense as in the south American countries and some W African countries. In fact the biggest is in Europe are in Poland and Germany. The most intense will arguably be Buenos Aires Vs. Boca Juniors.

Even Galatasaray SK vs Fenerbahçe SK is more intense than any of the Old firm or Liverpool vs Manure matches.

Footballers should be professional enough to know when to die for the colours. The same way a young Nepalese recruited into the Gurkas knows what fighting in the British Army is all about.

  30. tsGH says:

Rico I hated it. I think the mrs enjoyed it most.As I said disney is not for me. Too many symbolism in that place. I even have a headache.

  31. agirlagunner says:

Hiya, SSP. 🙂 Howdy? Been a while. Still fishing? Well, we need the rub of the green for this one. And players who are up for it!!!

Ginger, admit it, you enjoyed seeing Mickey more than you let on. 😀 Bet you bought more than a couple of stuffed toy souvenirs. 😛

  32. rico says:

Arsène Wenger is urging his team to bounce back from recent results when they take on Tottenham in this weekend’s north London derby.

Last weekend’s 3-3 draw at home to Fulham was the third time in four league games that Arsenal have not picked up three points.

Wenger wants to return to winning ways and, while he would settle for a scrappy victory, the manager wants his side to put on a show.

“You will take any win, but it’s not the way to go into the game,” he said. “You cannot ask to do that at the start. You want to play well and go in thinking that if you play well you will win the game.

“If you want to be a top-level professional you have to understand that your crowd wants you to win and you have to deal with the fact they are not always happy. That’s where you see the personalities and the sense of responsibility of the players.

“What affects me is that our fans are not happy. It doesn’t stop me from doing what I do on the football pitch, but if you ask me, my biggest desire is to see our fans happy – like the players as well.

“That’s not an excuse not to play and to play your game, you know. I believe that our fans will be behind us without any problem.”

  33. rico says:

Jack Wilshere has the north London derby “in his heart”, according to Arsène Wenger.

The 20-year-old has served his one-match suspension for a red card at Manchester United and returns to the Arsenal squad for Saturday’s local affair with Tottenham at Emirates Stadium.

Wilshere has played in two derbies – both at White Hart Lane – and Wenger knows how much these games mean to him.

“Jack arrived here at the age of nine years old and that means this game is in his heart, in his brain, for the whole season every year,” said Wenger.

“From the youth teams up, the rivalry exists.”

Wilshere got another half-hour under his belt in midweek, coming off the bench as England lost 4-2 in Sweden. Wenger is happy with the midfielder’s progress since he returned his injury lay-off.

“Yes of course [I am happy],” said the manager. “He had not played for 17 months and the fact that he just has got over the first three, four games without any setback is very important.”

  34. rico says:

Arsène Wenger insists Arsenal’s ambitions this season are far greater than simply finishing above Tottenham in the Premier League.

The Gunners have always topped their north London rivals in the final standings throughout the Frenchman’s 16-year tenure at the Club.

While Wenger is confident of repeating the feat, he says his side is capable of achieving far more.

“Our main target is not to finish above Tottenham. Our main target is to finish at least in the top four,” the manager said.

“There’s not only Tottenham but other teams who can be in front of us.

“To be in the top four it is important to beat Tottenham and it also has an emotional impact. But the target of the season is not to finish above Tottenham, it is to finish in the top four [at least].”

Wenger admits that his side have not been at their fluid, attacking best in recent games, but believes Saturday’s game offers the perfect opportunity to show their quality.

“[Our attacking fluidity] has been there because in some games we had that very well at the start of the season,” he said. “We lost it a little bit at Norwich, against
Schalke at home where we were a bit flat and against Manchester United.

“Of course, then you wonder is it down to our potential. Is that down to the fact that we are just flat at the moment, physically? That’s what we want to show now; that maybe we have come through a difficult patch, physically.”

  35. rico says:

That eleven should, on their day, beat most sides in the PL….

IF they turn up and want it more than the opposition….

  36. Joaquim Moreira says:

a few players in the line-up were played last wednesday…
lets hope no influence in the performance oif them.

  37. agirlagunner says:

Not a bad line-up, rico!! COYGs!! Methinks, Le Prof means business. I hope the players know how big a lift it would be for everyone if they were to win this.

  38. rico says:

What a legend, flown in just to watch his club face the old enemy…. Hope he’s been in the changing room…

He bloody better agag, they all had…

  39. stevepalmer1 says:

Although i realise how good Wilshere is or was he is still below par this season than he was before, watching him in the England game never gave me the impression that he is anything like he was. Having passion and knowing what a derby is all about doesn’t help that much when the body doesn’t always do what the brain tells it. His sending off against United only made me think that he wanted to show the fans of his commitment to the cause but in actual fact only proved that he made a bad challenge at the wrong time and he left us in a vulnerable position. This game today will not be won by one person no matter how passionate he may be this will need teamwork and players who will go that xtra mile we will need to keep our focus we will need to be tight at the back and we need to keep the ball and not give it away this is no time for players to be hero’s just do their jobs and do it well and the 3 pts will be ours

  40. TT says:

Just seen the team sheet. This is our strongest possible side at the moment and if we cant win this we can forget all about top 4.

  41. clorinda says:

I see them on the internet Mr DG,

The team are not playing poorly I thinks.

But we keep leaking goals. And until that stops we will never winn!!

  42. TT says:

Here we go again…..see why I’m not bothered anymore? If the manager and board don’t give a fuck about or deficiencies that have been obvious for years then why would the team?

  43. devilgunner says:

The one thing I really like about Theo is that he tries to stay on his feet. No diving.

    Der Kaiser 1-1

    Whooooooooaaaaaaaaaaaa

  44. devilgunner says:

There is a real spring in Arsenal’s step now and they are enjoying all the possession. Tottenham are defending in numbers but, before we write them off completely, remember they have Gareth Bale and Aaron Lennon who are lethal on the break.

  45. devilgunner says:

Until the sending off and the goal there was hardly any movement off the ball. Everyone keeps sticking to his position and when someone strays no one was covering for him. The only one who was doing such movement was Giroud.

  46. stevepalmer1 says:

Theo’s price is going up as this game goes on, he may just get a rise if he keeps this uo for 90 minutes

  47. Scott from Oz says:

Devil,Giroud has done it since his first game, and it’s the reason i liked him since the start.
    He is underestimated stll.

  48. devilgunner says:

You are right Scott. I agree. Giroud has been exceptional.and that is why I also like him a lot. He reminds me a lot of Stapleton. Same movement and presence.

But even if he gets 20+ I think he will still be criticized.

  49. agirlagunner says:

Well well well! 🙂 🙂 Woot woot!!

Hiya, Dev and Clorinda! Kev, I see you’re enjoying the match. 😉

  50. Scott from Oz says:

    Podolskiiiiiiiii Steve……….
Get in there you good things.
I have woken the wife up three times already, and she is steaming…………NLD v Divorce???
Get in there you bloody good things!!!!
    LOVING IT!!!

  51. gunnerdna says:

Adebywhore its never wise to burn your bride, throw away your stick before you cross the water, stupid little guy.

  52. Scott from Oz says:

    I am always here Kev……always positive,always delusional,SOMETIMES mental,but always a bloody GOONER!!!

  53. Will XL says:

Scott, I’m with u on Olivier. He will score goals because his movement and reading of the game is very good. Not to mention his heading.

Devil, I’m happy for the outcome so far. But i take it with a grain of salt. Where was this movement and self expression when the twats had 11 men? Even if we go on to win convincingly they have proven nothing to me. Play like this when the opposition is tough.

  54. Scott from Oz says:

I just saw the replay of the Adebayor incident……Santi is loody lucky his foot was up.
If it was planted,he is in hospital right now!!

  55. rico says:

The more i see that cross from Walcott, the better it looks….

And the Podolski goal sums up all that we have been missing recently, he wasn’t going to let that chance go begging….

  56. rico says:

devil, credit to Santi for staying on his feet for the 3rd goal too, very unlike a Spanish player 😉

Scott, maybe he is worth 100k a week…

Lets see what the second half brings…..

  57. eastsidepaul says:

Also really nice seeing Santi staying on his feet and creating that goal. A true role model for kids playing football!

  58. Scott from Oz says:

    Rico…credit where it is due.
Theo is playing unbelievably well tonight.
I have asked him to perform in a big game, and he producing.
Podolski is just lethal when he gets a chance, and that is what i said he would bring to us……yes, something we lacked.
Girouds finish looks better every time i see it….two players all over him,and he did brilliantly just to get boot to ball.
Devil, can you believe some commentators are saying Adebayors sending off was harsh??
    Dickheads.
    I am pumped!!!!!

  59. rico says:

Me too dna, we just have to make sure we keep 11 on the pitch…

Not in the UK Scott, they are really slating Lardy for being so reckless…

    Great minds Esp..

  60. Scott from Oz says:

We must have two of the best left foot cannons in the league…Podolski and Giroud!!
Are you Tottenham in disguise……….love the crowd tonight.
    They are going off!!

  61. devilgunner says:

What is similiar between today’s Game and the 5-2 spanking we gave them at the Ems.

Answers on a postcard. Let’s see how many of you manage to guess this.

Shit Bale has pulled one back.

  62. TT says:

Tipical….now for a nervous ending. Arsenal will always switch off when leading with a good margin ….don’t really see Manure or Chelsky do that much.

  63. Scott from Oz says:

    Rico,luckily Bale is a hog.
He was never going to score from there…..a low flat pass, and we are in trouble.

  64. devilgunner says:

    S.T.O.P. T.H.I.S. C.O.M.E.D.Y A.N.D. S.C.O.R.E. A. B.L.O.O.D.Y 5Th

Theo for centreforward now. Giroud off

  65. devilgunner says:

Seeing that no one answered my question on last year’s similiarity with this year’s game………….its that Adebayore was anonymous in both games after the 20th minute.

  66. Scott from Oz says:

Devil,i answered….i said we had arseholes of referees both times.
    Deans last time….Webb this time…..

  67. Will XL says:

See what happens when you press the f****** ball. I miss the days when we had the brains of 3 or 4 Cazorlas out there.

  68. rico says:

    Great result….

Many will suggest we won because they were down to ten, well we will never know, and it really is crazy to think about it.

We played and defeated what was in front of us.

Many many positives, but Wenger/Bould still need to keep plugging away with the defensive side to our game.

The goals are being scored, now just stop conceding and we’ll be a lot lot better….

    NLD’s = Piece of cake eh 😉

  69. eastsidepaul says:

5-2, good result, not a good performance. We should have really put them to the sword.
As it did last year this will just smooth over the cracks.

Santi Cazorla is a different class.

  70. eastsidepaul says:

tsGH, because Cazorla is a class above anyone else on the team. God knows whenever anyone gets the ball I want them it to Cazorla.

  71. rico says:

Got to pop out to the supermarket, back in a bit…..

I’ll enjoy writing that one up when I return 🙂

    Tsgh – It’s love 😉

  72. Scott from Oz says:

I just saw Theo and Olivier interviewed.
Theo does not strike me as a player with any intention of leaving….far from it.
Giroud is just in his element!!

  73. Scott from Oz says:

    I am off guys.
Working again tomorrow so sleep is needed.
Not sure how that will happen though…
One very proud, very positive and very pumped Gooner signing off!!?

  74. devilgunner says:

A glass of RED WINE……….some chocolate balls and CELEBRATION TIME.

Lord………..how I love rubbing it in the scum’s faces.

  75. goonster says:

Hey am i in a parallel universe or did we just actually wiped the floor with the scummers? bloody early kick off. i can’t believe i missed it. grrrrrrrrrrrr. highlights please, emma and kev do you thing guys. COYGS.

  76. devilgunner says:

    Gooonieeeeeeeeeeee.

Yes we wiped the floor with them today.

You missed the goals, fun and ……. Clorinda.

My cousin was on here today.

  77. goonster says:

yikes clorinda was here too? thank fuck, don’t ever wanna run into her again? 5.2 huh? highlights please DG.

  78. eastsidepaul says:

Gonna have to grab myself a new shirt with Cazorla on the back! First player I’ve put on the back of a jersey since Reyes!

(Apart from my France shirt with Gourcuff on the back)

  79. goonster says:

hey come on fellas we won for fuck sake……get your hairy butts back on here. am looking at you micko and lee. come on somebody fill me in.

  80. goonster says:

ESP be a pal and tell me how we whupped the tar out of those scums. i need to know and while you are at it, a few video highlights wont hurt me. come on already am dying of exitement here.

  81. devilgunner says:

Goonie mate. Up till the scum’s opener and the sending off of that togo lump we were crap.

Then we started to tear them a new one.

We need to be kick started to play. Its something I cannot understand why.

  82. allezkev says:

    Night Scott.
Stan, i’m at work, you’ll have to rely ln The Queen of the Vids, namely Emma.

    North London is Our’s….
Just as it alway’s has been since 1913.
So off to Stratford you go Scummer’s… 😀

  83. goonster says:

the togo lump was sent off? classic you just made my day. so that was the turning point right? gosh i love me a derby day. thanks for the highlights DG, i ll take my time and watch it for hours.

  84. devilgunner says:

    How are you feeling Kev?

Nice weekend to you…….you can rest easy till the next game. Bragging rights are red tinted for now!!!!!

Tell the scum that they have to pay 52 sterlings for a tour of the Ems!!! 😆

  85. eastsidepaul says:

I know this wouldn’t be a popular opinion but I feel we could have put more past them. I feel Wenger wanted to shut up shop at the end were as we should have been out to rack up the goal difference.

Need to see that defence tighten up!

  86. devilgunner says:

I agree ESP. I felt that we could have made up for that score from OT last year.

Today I thought that anything between 7 and 10 would have been ok.

I have been saying this for months on end. We do have the potential to hammer people left, right and centre.

And not just once or twice a season.

But between 5 to 10 games every season.

  87. Bradster says:

    Hi all,
I too missed the game, i’m at a braai (bbq) for my cousin so I had to read the highlights on sky mobile.
Sounds like they were really up for it today. Seems Walcott is showing what he’s worth, hopefully to us and not advertising.

  88. goonster says:

best comment ever on arseblog” i typed in arsenal vs totenham 5.2 2012, they asked which one, i said BOTH” gosh i love arsenal fans. COYGS!

  89. devilgunner says:

Yes and no Kev. I agree partially with that statement. The thing is that there were moments when the Ox (3 times), Theo (once), Caz the gazzzz (twice) and Ramsey (once) all tried to go on their own when passing to a better placed player who could shoot was much easier.

But yes, you are right about fatigue. But its only part of the reason why we did not rack up 3 more goals at least.

  90. allezkev says:

Hi Coach, I am very good thanks.

Delighted to see BFG score and great to see Podolski get another…

This result will do our confidence a power of good. Just in time for Montpelier and Villa (a)…

Need to win those two and then we’ll hopefully be back in the groove.

  91. goonster says:

tell me about it devil…..what a huge boost this ll give us. hope we kick up from here. was the red worth it devil? i really wish there was a crimson card so that tall prick could miss 7 games in a roll. what a c**t.

  92. devilgunner says:

Joey Barton wants to make his move to Marseille permanent and you’ll not hear many in England protesting.

  93. devilgunner says:

Goonie………..if Ade was one of my players and he did that tackle…..it would mean straight out of the door. I like hard tackles which are done fairly, and also accept late challenges and maybe mistaken tackles. But I will never accept any of my players doing malicious or deliberate tackles which are meant to injure players.

  94. goonster says:

i just saw the highlight again he really went into that tackle with intention to maim santi….that guy embodies everything wrong with football these days. that God we don’t have such fuck heads playing for us.

  95. devilgunner says:

    Incredible but true……………….

The seasons pass, but it seems Adebayor’s adrenaline levels still get pumped to an uncontrollable level each time he faces them.

Today, his game lasted 18 minutes. He scored 10 minutes in, and was sent off 8 minutes later, for a high tackle on Santi Cazorla.

In Adebayor’s defence, the ball was there to be won, and if anything he was over-zealous rather than dangerously reckless.

But in the context of the game – no flashpoints/bookings – was the sending off harsh? At such an early stage and with the temperature so low, couldn’t a yellow have sufficed?

Stats show how rare sendings off are at such an early stage in the game, and with reason, as ‘bad blood’ has yet to build up, as it invariably does later in the game.

At the time of writing (half-time), what isn’t in doubt is that the sending off completely changed the complexion, and swung it back in Arsenal’s favour.

Some pundits are so ignorant that even a dimwitted person would find it difficult to agree with what they say.

  96. goonster says:

hahahhhaaahha gallas was at fault for 4 out of the 5 goals, makes me feel all warm and fuzzy on the inside. i love it when ex arsenal players fuck their current club up against us……next stop clishit and nashit. hahahhhaahha. the look on gallas’ face was priceless.

  97. goonster says:

good riddiance….nobody ll notice that old bag of fart. he’s so shit as a manager. i hope qpr gets relegated. they have some undiserable fellas in that club. i hate them.

  98. allezkev says:

If Giroud is carrying a slight hamstring, it might be worth giving him a breather against Montpelier, even if he wants to play.
We don’t want him breaking down just as he’s finding his feet in English football.
Time for a little thoughtfull rotation, to our playets fit.

  99. goonster says:

AK, this guy might end up scoring more goals than any other arsenal striker…….first season that is. he’s a beast. cant wait for tr7 to return he’s one of our best crossers. giroud for 20+ goals. you heard it here first.

  100. devilgunner says:

Sorry to dissappoint you Goonie. I said it first today that Giroud will score 20+ goals this season.

So not your comment we heard it on first.

  101. goonster says:

shut up DG, where were you when alanbstard and the other turds were knocking him? i stood up for him and poldi too. it was just me and scott against the world. he’s finally repaying my faith in him. come giroud, come on.

  102. devilgunner says:

No mate. I was here as well. Check with Scott and the past posts.

I was always defending Giroud and Poldi. And you can also ask Kev about it.

  103. goonster says:

ok then DG that makes 3 of us…..men i cant wait for tr7’s return. him santi and wilshere will be a joy to watch. when is he due back DG?

  104. devilgunner says:

If you tell me that I was always criticizing Theo then yes I did.

But I never criticized OG12 or Podolski. Infact they are a partnership made for 4-4-1-1

  105. goonster says:

yes me too…..i knock theo from time to time but he’s coming good now so we need to pull out our finger and keep hold of him. am sick and tired of watching us train a player only for other clubs to benefit from him. sign da ting theo you frsh faced bastard.

  106. devilgunner says:

I am afraid that might still be long way off. Even though he is training. We need to make sure that he is fully fit. OTherwise he and AFC will suffer for it.

Alas………..Diaby might be consigned to the scrapheap.

IT is over. Abou is finished and that is a big pity. Thanks to Dan Brown.

  107. goonster says:

pity about abou DG he could have been amongst the greats….i like him though. one of my favorite arsenal players of all time……..don’t nobody knock me yet cause i didnt see brady, rocky rocastle or pat rice play. so shush it.

  108. devilgunner says:

I saw them all play mate. But if he was not injured then yes I think he might have become one of that group of legends.

  109. devilgunner says:

I have been following AFC since 1974 when I was around six years.

I have seen great player adorn the red shirt. But I have seen a few shit ones as well.

  110. nigel tufnel says:

Great job, we gooners deserved this. We have suffered alot this season, and we should enjoy our clubs performances more than we have been. Lets build on this and start climbing the table

  111. devilgunner says:

You are still very much young mate.

And you do have many other distractions.

When I was young I never had these newfangled technological things. I always had a ball and a pair of football shoes and Arsenal news to spend my time on.

Infact I am proud to have learnt football in the streets. One of the last of my generation to do so.

  112. goonster says:

that’s why i love blogging, underneath this crazy exterior is a die hard gunner. i might appear aloof and crazy most times but i ve really learnt a lot from you guys. AK,WATH,micko, adam, lee and even you DG. hope i ll be able to pass on the knowledge i garnered from you great ones to the next generation.

  113. devilgunner says:

Time for me to go now my friend. Its time for the little prince to continue his learning …………….

  114. goonster says:

alright DG, see ya. nice chatting with ya. gotta go have me a late breakfast too…….dang its almost lunch. guess i ll have me a brunch then. COYGS. am so chuffed.

  115. Joaquim Moreira says:

hi devil you are very young… 🙂
My concern: when they were 11-11, we suffered a goal, a goal was scored invalidated, there were 4 shots for totts and 0 for us.
Everything changed when Adeb was sent off..
Wilshere should meditate on what he did at United.
We have an important game for our future on Wednesday

  116. rico says:

    Evening guys and gals…

Santi was quiet until that bad tackle, seemed to wake him up. After that everyone played better.

Spurs down to ten made a huge difference, but i don’t necessarily mean because they were playing with one less, it appeared to give the players a huge kick up the butt. Maybe they didn’t like what Lardy did….

  117. tsGH says:

    the chavs lost too.

The midfield is still a worry for me. We needed the luck today but…

I am off to have a good birthday drink. Enjoy the NLD win gooner.

    COYGsss

  118. rico says:

Sorry tsgh, I forgot it it’s your birthday today, how rude of me…

Belated Happy Birthday, have a great evening…..

  119. Lee says:

Cometh the hour, cometh the man (men)…..
Crisis at shite fart lane? Wonder if the media will on their backs? Fuck em anyway, who gives a monkey’s?….. Forever in our shadow! They can piss off back to the swamp where they belong!!

  120. goonster says:

Lord God i just saw it on goal.com……..what a weekend? if only we won against fulham. the league is still on guys. get tr7 back and we ll really rip it.

  121. Scott from Oz says:

    What a day of results!!!
It all went our way today, and deservedly so!!
    We are the Arsenal,after all!!
Morning all……off to work now,yes on a bloody sunday.
Still, this particular sunday won’t be a half decent one at all……still pumped!!

  122. Scott from Oz says:

Hi Rico, this is busiest time of year for me.
I work on commission,so need to make hay wile the sun shines,as i have a few weeks off over Xmas unpaid.
That and i have a holiday next year (hopefully) to The Emirates to pay for!!

  123. goonster says:

it ll end soon sir sp……we ll beat them at the EMS. I want us to be the team that knocks them off their high horses……do you guys know manure have conceded more goals than us and yet the media vultures keeps banging on about our porous defense. God the nerve of those bastards.

  124. rico says:

Most sides have conceded more goonster but the difference with Manure is they have scored more and picked up the points….

City haven’t faced Chelsea, Manure etc yet have they?

  125. stevepalmer1 says:

United certainly are not the team they were. They have problems up there but the press will give them time to right them before they cane them. but who cares just so long as they lose a few more

  126. goonster says:

yes maam especially with the refs assistance. both games against liverpool and chelsea should be investigated. take that 6 points off them what do we have? manure is shit and has been for years but the FA and refs union paper over the cracks so its not so obvious. yes we derserve to lose against them at old toilet but how about the chavs and poop games?

  127. goonster says:

We have to DNA we haven’t particularly been playing well lately. you could sense it in the stands too. i really hope this will help kick off our season. win the carling cup and qualify for the CL. next season who knows, we ll be stronger and might have a say where the trophy goes to. am positive DNA, very positive.

  128. goonster says:

DNA i hope so too but i don’t think we will……..wenger is hell bent on proven a point that “you don’t have to be 6’3 to be a good DM”. I hope am wrong though.

  129. gunnerdna says:

goon i hope AW sees things differently (DM) now because the midfield is too lightweight that why the defenders look so vulnerable.

  130. goonster says:

giroud has finally come good DNA, wish i could go on leshite now and give them a piece of my mind. some on there called him “shitmack 2” yet without having watch him play. i see him bagging a 20+ goals this season. am so happy for him. how many goals has he scored now?

  131. agirlagunner says:

Why aren’t you gents in bed yet?? We must be feeling so starved for a win, we are all still stoked hours after the match. 🙂

  132. agirlagunner says:

Was busy with work, goonie!! Yuck. Howdy?? I see Clorinda made mincemeat of you the other day. 😀 😀

Giroud and Poldi are much better than they are given credit for. With a few more quality signings, we’d be a force to reckon with. I just wish those in the sick bay aren’t parked there too long.

  133. goonster says:

hahahahhaha sorry maam, i forgot you were a nun……raleigh is cool with a touch of sunshine. santi was pure class. what a gem! hope he dont burn out though.

  134. goonster says:

seems everyone’s gone…….i better be off then. had a great day guys. let’s do this some other time. COYGS!

  135. agirlagunner says:

There is such a good energy about him, too. 🙂 Our defense could do with some more composure, but today, I will not complain. 🙂

  136. Micko says:

Stan re 10.16, your balls must be the size of water melons, swollen with pride, bouncing off the pavement giving it large round Raleigh today.
Ooh to, Ooh to be, Ooh to be a Gooner !

  137. Scott from Oz says:

    Hi Micko,
How bloody great was that game??
I really can’t remember being that pumped up during a game for years.
I reckon it was because our new boys all scored,Merts broke his duck, but the crowd were absolutely awesome.
When it comes to protests and marches….well,i am not in favour of them…but keep it away from game day.
They showed today exactly what it means to get behind the guys on the field.
    I wish i’d been there!!

  138. allezkev says:

Well, the newspapers have had to postpone their obituary on Arsene Wenger.
Those tossers will have to find someone else to castigate for a few days.
Of course, even though ‘one swallow doesn’t make a summer’, it’s equally true that Arsenal were never really as bad as the Media portrayed us.
The NLD win should hopefully restore some of the confidence we lost after losing at Carrow Road and Old Toilet. A win at Villa Park, and show will definately be back on the road.
All I wanna hear now (other than Wath saying “The drinks are on me” ) is Wenger telling us that all our players are fit.
    Onwards and Upwards…

  139. Scott from Oz says:

Well, today i met a gentleman of the highest order.
Working on a sunday would hardly be described as fun,but measuring up for a gentleman named John, the first thing i noticed was the broad English accent.
It turns out he grew up nearly living in the stands watching Wolverhampton Wanderers, but having a big soft spot for “The Arsenal”.
We are having a great old chat, and he tells me to sit down for a minute.
John reappears after a few minutes with two books and an orange folder marked “Wolves”.
He tells me to bring them back when i am finished with them……just begs me not to lose them!!!
Book 1 is a history of Wolves, and book 2 is on Wolves greatest players….i haven’t looked at them yet.
The folder though contains photos, team sheets and newspaper articles from the 40’s and 50’s…..
One photo shows a young John sitting next to one Billy Wright in their cricket whites!!!
He tells me they were not great mates, but certainly knew each other, and he reckons Billy was a great man,and a great player for Wolves and England.
Well,Billy ends up managing our Arsenal in the early 60’s.
Brilliant story, brilliant luck and i am off to read up some more!!!
They will be looked after, and returned in perfect condition, that i can promise.

  140. Scott from Oz says:

Who will be the first manager sacked this season??
Hughes is faourite, but Di Matteo and Mancini will be under massive pressure if results do not improve soon.
Manicini will be cut to pieces if they miss the next stage of CL,and Chelsea have 2 points from their last 12.
Our Arsenal are not so bad after all.
Come on guys….where are you all?
It is a day to celebrate!!

  141. Scott from Oz says:

He is such a lovely, gentle old soul as well Rico.
    Hughes…yep,he is the one.
Could be done in the next few days,i reckon.

  142. agirlagunner says:

Boo!! Morning!! Scott, I’m done with work. I hope you are, too. 🙂

rico, hello. 🙂 A lovely, lazy Sunday ahead?? Have you bumped into the Spuddy neighbor yet?
