Ivan Gazidis has finally spoken about the situtaion surrounding our captains future:
Robin sat down with us at the end of the season and we had a good discussion. What we agreed at that meeting was that we would keep all the discussions we had over the summer to ourselves and make announcements when it is the right time.
No mention of further talks, just an announcement, which to me suggests that a decision has been made.
He also said:
My message to our fans is that we are doing everything in our power to make sure that Arsenal can challenge for trophies next year, That is what this summer is about and that is what we are focused on.
To be able to challenge for trophies next season, we need additions so is that a hint they are on their way?
Talking of which….
Back in January this year, Arsenal did something which as far as I know, the club hasn’t done before and that was to give a trialย chance to an American footballer to train with our club.
Dane Brekken “Brek” Shea was that man, fondly referred to as ‘Brek’ – he was born on February 28th 1990) who plays in midfield for FC Dallas in the MLS and he represents his country at International level.
He is described as being a versatile attacking player known for his size and strength and has in the past played in defensive, midfield and attacking roles, before settling as a wide-midfielder.
He’s a big guy at 6′ 3″ and just 22 years old – since he joined Fc Dallas back in 2008 as an 18 year old, he has featured in 95 fixtures, scored 19 goals and assisted in a further 14.
Everton as we know have for a few seasons now, taken advantage of the MLS break and signed Jason Landon Donovan on loan in January and has been a great help to them. Clint Dempsey has been in the Premier League since 2007 and has been a huge success at Fulham, so much so that he’s now been linked to a few top clubs, and us. ๐
Tim Howard and Brad Friedel have also been a great success here in the Premier League, Marcus Hahnemann enjoyed many good years at Reading but his move to Everton didn’t really pay off – so much so he is now available on a free transfer. Brad Guzan signed for Aston Villa back in 2008 but his career didn’t take off either and despite being United States number 2, he has been released by his club this month.
I’m sure there are many others in the lower leagues too but the Premier League will no doubt soon be more attractive to American players, just as the MLS is now attracting players who are coming to the end of their careers in the Premier League.
Last summer we signed Park, a signing many believe was all about spreading the ‘Arsenal Love’ across Asia, well are we about to ‘spread that same love’ across America and sign Brek Shea?
Many a suggestion was that last summer, Stan stepped in and made sure we signed a few players after the loss at Old Trafford, whether that is true or not, we will never know but if it was, then maybe Stan is about to intervene again and ensure we bring America to Arsenal…
Again!
Finally – Happy Birthday to Lee’s daughter, she is 4 years old today…. ๐
No stealing the jelly when you get home Lee….
Have a good one all…
Morning all…..
I reckon he has signed on the dotted line ๐
I find Gazidis’s comments re RVP very negative. Why would you delay an announcement that was good news and would shut the rumour mongers up?
Every football team challenges for trophies every year. The point is to make a credible and sustained challenge that has a chance of success. His words could mean we put a fullside out each week and most of them have the right kit on, a bit like some of the Sunday teams I used to play for all those years ago.
Why am I not inspired by this man?
Good read.Ivan’s statement re:rvp doesn’t sound good at all.if rvp had signed the club would’ve said it by now.its either he is leaving this summer or playing out his final year of his contract.either way i don’t expect good news on that front.
Loving the Afellay comments, please Mr Gazidis, grown some and sign him up….
Billboy, thats the way our club behaves, they love the ‘will he won’t he’ drama, look how they dealt with the Rosicky contract…
Ive not been persuaded that he has… if that was the case what does arsenal have to loose to announce that RVP has signed?? Surely IVAN would be at ease going into his AST meeting today…
Also surely RVP would prefer it was all out in the open and go to the EUROS at EASE!!
Way I see it is RVP hasnโt signed and it hasnโt be announce because the board donโt want a grilling and sega over there head during the summer its all dodge in my eyes..
DONT TRUST IVAN G ONE SINGLE BIT!!
Kt, i think the press would be all over him regardless of his decision, and he just wants to concentrate on the euros…
Are you referring to RVP signing on the dotted line Rico? If so why would the club not announce this. If the business was finished it doesn’t interfere with the Euros in any way to delay an announcement and put a gagging order on our captain. if anything it is counter-productive as if we could announce RVP was staying it would send a positive message to our other targets. It could be the difference say between M’Villa choosing us over Inter.
Morning all…
Bet IG has got a limp handshake…..the man just doesn’t do it for me not like DD did!
Gazidis is one crafty suit…’we want to compete to win the CL’ is very different as compared to saying ‘we want to win the CL’.also there is no point of waiting to hear what he’ll tell the AST tonight.he is superb at spin doctoring and will play his cards close to his chest.expect the usual crap as in previous years.
Morning Rico,
Absolutely right.
The only glimmer of hope on the RVP front is if they have committed to making signings to strengthen the team in order to get him to sign a new contract. I’m not sure I want to spend my summer banking on that though.
Matty
You have just blow a huge hole through my hope…. ๐
I suspect IG has only come out with his comments because of tonight…. Spin, Spin and more spin, will be even worse later i suspect…
I want rvp to stay
LEE agreed i hate the guy with a passion just doesnt seem footy minded just business
orientated as per the YANK!
Morning all, Nice one Rico,
You have a knack of reading between the lines rico, not always right but definitly thought provoking you little devil. Football or socker as the yanks say has taken off, although they have the superbowl and their Baseball which Americans love they must feel left out when the big world football events come round and they don’t win them, lets face it Americans are used to winning when the USA enter something. Many ex players have gone there as coaches some even still play but its all to move the American game forward and also to entice the American public, Football has always been a global sport and although the Americans have now got involved they are light years behind, but they are building fast very fast and they are now winning a lot more games than they used to, make no mistake they are not to far off from being at the top of the sport and yes if Arsenal can get involved with their development it can only be good for us. Silent Stan is involved in many American sports outfits and many have said about having outlets to send our youngsters for loans perhaps Stan could start a project where we can send some over there and take some of theres after all they seem to have a few gooduns
yes GoonerB, i am hoping that he has and i can understand why many think that it would have been easy to confirm the deal but it could very well be that RvP has agreed to stay, IF, we get a few players in…
Thats my take on it so best Wenger and Gazidis wake up fast…
Sorry RICO lol..
But you cant let that twat make you deluded… the signs are there, even so that IVAN has asked for his question before hand rather then on the spot so he can give better answers….. that BOLLOX in my eyes!! He just wants to pick and dodge the answers we all want to know..
Rico ive been on here for a while now and since day one ive express the curse on that guy his a bold headed devil lol!!
Grr he angers me lol
Lee – that thought has made me cringe, limp handshakes on men are just creepy – the guy who did my op had one, was quite glad to come round after ๐
Morning all. Glass half empty day for me today, could be an extended hangover from a heavy weekend but the Ivan comments do not fill me with glee. As others have already stated, we would announce if it was good news, surely? He is a slimy little bugger isn’t he?! Hate the way all the questions at the Q&A meeting with him have to be submitted before hand to screen for content. Club don’t want any awkward questions being fired off, heaven forbid he was asked about real issues we are all worried about.
๐ Billboy, i wouldn’t put a penny on it either….
Steve –
got to keep our grey matter working but i sure wouldn’t be surprised to see Shea join us ๐
Matty – me deluded ๐ No chance, i trust IG and Wenger about as far as i could throw them, when it comes to transfers they just spout spin….
Got to write about something in the mornings try and get you all annoyed ๐
Good weekend then Lewis ๐ Back down to earth with a Gazidis bump…
Chief Spin Doctor is Gazidis….
Oi Matty, don’t have a pop at the follicly challenged! ๐
I think no news is bad news….sorry to pee on your fireworks Rico!
Imagine the converstaion ” I want to win silverware, so we need 2/3 top drawer singings” IG “Robi we’re just dusting down our Lidl loyalty card….”
Bit too heavy Rico, but much fun. Lee: haha!
All you Doomers, maybe IG see’s today as the right time to announce, that would certainly silence a lot of people. Theres a right time for everything, they have their reasons although we can’t see it, doesn’t mean its wrong.
sorry guy just so many about Rico meant no offence lol ๐ haha lee you joker!
Thanks Lee, that’s suddenly just totally emptied my glass ๐
Whats the difference between a realist and a doomer?
๐ Lewis..
Steve – that glass is filling back up again, thanks – maybe its a case of RvP, Theo and two more all being announced at once, that way it will be like having 4 new signings ๐
It was a daily half full/empty feeling no it’s intra-day………. ๐
**now**
Doomer thinks Podolski is rubbish
Realist – judges Arsenal today as it has been for the last 4/5 seasons and thats empty promises
๐
Lee, the TW is not open yet, have hope, even ifs its just a little bit ๐

๐ ๐ DG – poor little jimmy
From Gazidis comment, I don’t think all went well in the meeting they had with RVP. If it did, why place a ban on RVP from speaking about the issue. One thing is no player is bigger than the club. If at the end of the day RVP decides he wants to leave, lets cash in and use the money to bring in a quality finisher. No one person can hold the club to ransom. I know that RVP mean well for the club wanting wenger to bring in quality player into the team so we can challenge for trophies. I hope RvP stays at the end of the day. Watched Koscienly play CDM role for france yesterday. He did very well. I know wenger will be thinking about that and want to use him in that role occasionally
Moaning Gooners,
Rico pass the salt ๐
How many people would buy a car before the car they know is going to a rally. you would probably have a clause saying if it comes back sound i’ll still have it but if it comes back dammaged the deals off ๐
Steve throw a camel in and you got yourself a deal.
Hi guys, first time here! On issue of RVP contract talks I have a feeling either he signed or he agreed with the club to sign some quality players for him to sign! That’s why the club are confident! Even basing on what his mum and wifey said a couple of weeks ago, They want to stay in London! I believe we gonna sign some quality players! I pray that we get affellay(he reminds of Ronaldo) the fake one.. The way he runs!
Nice one Dutch, ๐
Whatever the acquisition situation is at Arsenal they have a tendency to keep the outside world playing ping pong with 5 balls simultaneously. Been so for years. Thankfully the old heads here on HH tone my emotions down. Although it just needs a spark to fire up again.
hi emma – thats interesting on Kos, i didn’t watch the france game…. looking forward to watching them against england though…
DG – and the pepper ๐
Morning Rico and all. I see the Gazidis interview as a pre-emptive statement before he faces the fans. He wants to exude a calm state of mind as if everything is going to plan. He can’t really do anything else can he?The message is no different from any other year really. Quality before quantity etc blah, blah. Top class players, challenging times and Arsenal’s motto these days …wait and see.
Expect nothing then be elated when something does happen……best policy!
welcome goonersoccer – i’m of a similar opinion…
Morning Adam, he’s going to have his feathers ruffled later ๐
Be interesting to see what is said about AU…
Way to go Lee and you know exactly what we’ll get, he’s already in ๐
Hi GoonerSoccer Afellay could sweeten RvP’s thinking.
The perfect time to announce that your best player was signing a new deal and staying with the club, would surely be BEFORE you ask your paying public to shell out on the most expensive season ticket in football. Hence, they are still waiting for my money.
Last year Gazidis said we would be very busy in the transfer market, which was kind of true only he forgot to add the sub text – “we will be very busy in the transfer market this summer……………………..making yet another transfer surplus”
This year he says that they will focus on quality rather than quantity, so on the basis that Podolski is quality, which I think he is, and the fact that he is indeed a new signing, then I guess he has already delivered on that statement !! I wonder if the subtext will result in another transfer profit due to the RVP “announcement”
Spin, spin, spin……………………….yawn !! I hope he gets the grief he deserves tonight.
Nothing that a flurry of uppercuts wouldn’t put straight…..
For anyone interested the full transcript of the toad Gazidis Gollum

Ryan,
l think deep down we all think that had Rvp signed we would have announced it, but i’m just hoping he has agreed to stay in principle, as long as Wenger makes the right additions…
Join a queue of many who would like to do that Lee… ๐
DG – i couldn’t suffer anymore of that from the man…. ๐
Like many fans, I’ve grown disenchanted with what’s happening at Arsenal…..it seems like we have become the Ajax of the EPL and put our pants down for City to rape us every summer. We’ve become a selling club of sorts and have started bargain buying and leaving the top stars to the big boys.
The board seems very stale to me…..no ambition whatsoever displayed since Kroenke/Gazidis took over. I now wish that Usmanov takes over….however I can’t see that happening because Kroenke is in it for the longterm and for him its not about winning trophies…..its all about steady income every year.
The only way anything will change is if Usmanov makes a crazy offer and Kroenke can’t refuse it.
” When we had our most difficult times this football club came together. The supporters, the team, the front office staff, the back office staff โ they all came together. It was that strength and that unity that managed to pull our season back on track this year. ” IG
Well, Ivan that’s just grand. You read a jolly coming together in it, we say it was desperation hearing the nuclear meltdown horn gathering all living souls under our tables and desks. STOP MASSAGING WITHOUT A HAPPY END. You’re not me luv you long time.
KM – Re Usmanov, we should get a few answers tonight about where he fits in as Gazidis is going to be aksed.
Usmanov is nearing his 30% so if his intentions really are to take over the club then who knows, he may make that move some day soon. I have read that Satn has no intention to sell to him though but everyone has a price and usmanov is wealthy enough to match that price…
DG – I wish Stan would sack him! Get a man in that cares about Arsenal on the pitch,…..
Ryan, what’s even more boring is comments like yours.
Are you an Arsenal fan or an RVP fan??
Don’t feed us this crap about being ripped off blah, blah, blah….it’s overdone by the narks.
Leave the ticket go and let the next in line, someone who just wants to watch their club play, grab your seat.?..it may well be appreciated then.
Evening all.
I have no idea what’s happening on the RVP front, and you know what,I don’t care anymore.
Worst case scenario is he goes, right?
Next is he goes and we spend the money on a top class, younger striker.
Best ending is he stays.
Which scenario guarantees us a trophy next season….none.
Which scenario spells the end of Arsenal…..none.
If they do sell him,and I hope they dont, but if they do I’d like to see them sell Theo as well and get a Cavani,a Pato, someone of that class and age…..sorry RICO ๐
Of course it’s not likely, but then again, nothing ever is with Arsenal.
On deadline day last year, can anyone say they thought anything like what eventuates was a possibility at 9am that morning??
If Usmanov truly has he best intentions for the club, why doesn’t he make that crazy bid???
What’s boring is the fact that we have another “Groundhog summer” ahead of us, again!
Rico he’s always framing the highlights. Well that’s part of any soap drama. You can flip through any Hollywood script finding these drawn-ins. As the world turns…..Days of our lives.
Sack this coffee runner please. Indeed. ๐
Scott,
I think you have actually decided to read more into my comment than I actually said – being ripped off? Where did I say that, I simply made the point that ours is the most expensive season ticket, which it is. I have been a season ticket holder for 25 years and I want to be a fan and a supporter, but I don’t want to be taken for granted, I would like an idea about what I am being asked to buy into? Is that so wrong? You want me to behave like a consumer, which is buying into the way the club treats fans, as consumers not as fans or supporters. What is wrong with having an opinion on that subject, given the current malaise? I pointed out that I believe Gazidis is about the spin and the half truth’s because that is what I believe and that is what his tarck record to date would appear to demonstrate. I wholeheartedly agree with your comments about RVP, because what you say on that subject is compl;etely common sense. However, the reality with what happens at our club doesn’t seem to follow that pattern of thinking, do you believe that they would replace RVP with equal quality? Could you take your obvious logic about the RVP situation and apply them to the Cesc and Nasri situation last year? They left, we got the money but did we do the obvious thing ane re-invest it in like for like quality? Or did we arguably downgrade and generate surplus? Nothing wrong with living within your means etc etc, but lets actually do that – let the club practise what you yourself are preaching, cos I gree with that. The problem I have currently, is they don’t and I won’t apologise for having my own opinion and expressing it, even if it means being called boring by someone on the otherside of the planet !! ๐
Scott, no need for that to Ryan, he’s entitled to his view!
Scott Usmana isn’t allowed a takeover bid before he reaches the 30% line by a nose length. He also has to appear in front of a FA Comity to plead his case and defend his credentials.
AU might yet Scott, for all we know!
And by the way, I think the fans who pay that amount for season tickets are being ripped off, the most expensive in the PL by all accounts…
Ryan – we didn’t ever spend that money from the Cesc, Nasri and lets not forget, Clichy sales…
Thats always been the problem, we sell for big bucks and buy bargins, of course there has been a few exceptions to that rule…
He’s not far off that 30% now either DG….
Lee – 11.38 – i have a feeling you could be right, Wenger indicated early signings, so i guess Podolski was just that….
Hey ho, lets all stay positive eh ๐
Morning all,
If I kicked the bucket tomorrow I’d come back as Ivan Gazidas and stay as far away from Arsenal as possible.
And so am i Rico.
Why do people feel the need to threaten on a forum to not renew their ticket…I don’t get it.
Tell the bloody club, because rants on here are just a waste of everyones time.
Ryan,I don’t know one Gooner that likes Gazidis, but he’s in the job.
We can whine all we like, and we do,but it’s obvious is employer thinks he’s good at his job.
By the way, what the hell has me being on other side of the world got to do with this topic???
There’s always one smart arse that brings that up for lack of a better argument.
You don’t need to apologise or answer to me,but if you don’t want people to comment on your posts,do not post them…SIMPLE…….
We have a billionaire owner who invested in the club.
We have a CEO who is obviously highly qualified and well thought of by the person/people who he needs to impress.
We have a world renowned, massively respected manager.
We have Gooners everywhere who actually believe they can fill these positions better than the incumbents!!!
Happy birthday to the little one Lee.
A bartender is just a pharmacist with a limited inventory.
Poor me, poor Arsenal, poor me another drink.
Good afternoon Fine Folk.
Good one Rico……..I told you it would be a cracker and have good points.
To be precise, AU must buy 68 more shares to go over the 30%+1 share threshold. If I had them I would sell them to him for 20kps with the added proviso of a free season ticket for the next 20 years……..and enjoy my one million plus from the sales. Oh and free drinks on match day as well. ๐
Scott, everyone is entitled to his opinion. Like you mate. I know you might be right but the other fella might be as well.
Ryan there was no need to point out that one of our members hails from the other side of the planet. We already know that. ๐
In general,Arsenal fans are hypocrites.
Plenty bag the club and it’s spending policies amongst ourselves, but what does everyone say when speaking to a Citeh or Chelski fan????
I stick to the same story and opinion no matter who I speak to.
Hi Devil.
Ryan’s upset because I’m from the sunny side lol!!!
Oyyy you who lives in a mud hut on the other side of the world ๐ (tongue in cheek with that my dear mate) , I will be sending you an email with five tests soon. But they are not for you directly. They are for older kids, circa over 9 years. What ages do you have at the club?
On my 12.05….i did say in general.
Everyone knows if they stay consistent or not.
We’ve got 5’s to Premier League Devil.
I am a proud Aussie, everyone knows hat and I certainly don’t Hide the fact.
I just don’t appreciate having it rubbed in my nose like its a bad thing.
Devil, the mud hut nearly blew over yesterday….70-80 kph winds….incredible.
๐ Micko, Afternoon….
I agree with a whole lot of what Ryan has to say here today.
Scott – blogs are the right place to let off steam, when its good we are happy, when its not, we have a little moan…
This time of year is always the worst and history suggests we will sell our best and buy bargins….
I can understand why fans are thinking of not renewing. Its an awful lot of money…
It’s all hot air from IG, to take his comments as a ‘hint’ we’re going to make signings is delusional in the extreme. Couple Wenger’s ‘quiet summer’ with IG’s ‘THE critical signing’ comment regarding Podolski is the realistic way to look at the situation. Podolski is RVP’s replacement. He plays in the same channels. If RVP was staying why on earth would they delay announcing it, there is no reason on earth. They are waiting until the ST renewals are all in, as well as not wanting to dent merchandise sales with such a demoralising statement as RVP is off, until much later in the summer. Delaying the announcement is a business decision.
Afternoon devil, thanks ๐
If i had the shares in my possession, i’d be calling AU to tell him, thats for sure..
Adam – as do i….
Thinking it over I would charge him 25kps
Kp’s devil, that is a brand of peanuts here in the UK ๐
I’m not surprised Adam at all lol.
Rico,i understand their frustration, but of those complaining on forums,I’m yet to hear of one stand up and be counted by contacting the club over it.
Even if it does nothing, write them a letter, let them know how you feel.
Afternoon, with regards to the supposed surplus from last season, can anyone prove we received all of that money in full? we might well have had it from City but from Barca? Also Arsene is on record saying that he needs to generate a profit of 15-20 million every season and the simple reason for that is that we are more reliant on match day income than any other big club.
I don’t have a problem with Arsenal making a profit, as long as the money we do spend is on the right players, no one here wants us to spend 100 million but we do want some expenditure on some quality players, if we spent another 25-30 million and bought three players and they were of sufficient quality would anyone object?
With regards to RVP if he wants to control how the club operates (wont sign unless we sign players) then all he has to do is get his UEFA badges, do his coaching and then manage a club. If he doesn’t want to do this then sign or don’t sign but don’t tell the club what to do that is not his job its Arsene’s. if he loves the club as much as he says he does then let us know and give us time to get a replacement in..
Scott. Not surprised at what?
Rico,I blow off my share of steam, but I hae not read one single thing on our transfers that tells me the clubs real intentions,so to say things are bad atm is giving the whiners an excuse that’s not there.
We can all uses on RVP,but to a thing has been given away to tell us one way or the other,so getting stressed and complaining is jumping the gun.
๐
What if RVP has agreed to stay, but as some payback to Citeh,it won’t be announced til later on,just to let them think they’ve got their chance at him??
Another possible scenario…add it to the other ten going around.
It would be nice though, wouldn’t it?
I don’t know, if I had the shares I could be tempted by Stan if he’s bringing lifelong KFC buckets to the table. Crispy flaked that is.
Don’t moderate me madam. I would be flying without wings. Wings……hahaha
Scott – i have read a few comments around saying fans haven’t renewed..
I think it’s a bit easy to knock ST holders who are having a re-think, maybe some would think differently if it was their pocket the vast amount of money was coming out of…
cSott, you have to realise that there is a serious recession right across europe and Britain in particular.
You, on many occassions state that football is only a game. And in that you are correct.
So what is more important.
A game?
Or maybe feeding & clothing your children???
Ryan is entitled to his opinion.
You have no knowledge of his financial position.
A season ticket could be a huge chunk of his income.
Wanting value for money.
And not wanting the piss taken out of him by millionaire directors…
vernat
‘I donโt have a problem with Arsenal making a profit, as long as the money we do spend is on the right players, no one here wants us to spend 100 million but we do want some expenditure on some quality players, if we spent another 25-30 million and bought three players and they were of sufficient quality would anyone object’?
I think you are pretty much near the mark there, that’s all we want is three players that will improve the depth and strength in the squad…
DG – i wouldn’t dream of it ๐
Morning Charlie
Don’t forget the tight manager!
We do suck when it comes to negociations, in January we were told RvP’s future would be sorted at the end of the season, in April we were informed it would be sorted before he went to the euro’s, now Gazidas has come out and said we’re in no rush and it we be resolved when he returns, it’s like the blind leading the blind.
It’s more than just a game….. ๐
Rico. It’s a way of life.
Welcome SGRB – all first comments go into moderation, you are free now ๐
Micko – and some wonder why we are cynical…. Spin, bloomin lies and spin…
Agree Adam, and sometimes, actually, make that often, it upsets my way of life…..
Did anyone hear Wenger speak after the France game yesterday?
To be honest it is obscene the money that is paid out, on 80 thousand a week a player will earn in one year what a family of four adults will earn in a lifetime on average wages. For kicking a ball around a pitch, not giving a wife her husband back after an operation, or children a parent after treatment. Yet we cry that we don’t pay the right wages and players at our club aren’t competitively paid, it is a joke and shows how skewed our values have become as a society.
Rico, none of really know others financial situations.
I am fortunate that i can afford a season ticket.
But being fortunate doesn’t mean that i have to enjoy being lied to, & treated like a fool by useless cnuts like PHW, Harris, Keswick, Gazides & co.
Actions speak louder than words.
I will be putting my money where my mouth is.
Will the club???
No Rico, he was far too busy scouting players to speak to the media…… or…
AK,I don’t underestimate the cost involved, and Im it surprised at people thinking whether to renew or it….hats not my point at all.
My point is that whinging, bitching and moaning on the Internet, huffing and puffing on forums does nobody any good at all,so why do it??
If I don’t like a movie,I walk out.
I don’t run around telling everyone else watching its crap.
My family is my way of life, football is my passion.
I said a few weeks ago that I’d met the brother of a former England international.
The player in question and his old man have barely spoken a word in over twenty years because he played for City when the old man was a Utd fan.
That’s it…no big row,he just played for the enemy,as they gave him a chance.
That’s no way of life, but if it is,it’s bloody sad,and I pity them.
Vernat. Couldn’t agree more. We throw these figures around like ยฃ100k a week for some player or other, or RVP rejecting ยฃ130k a week plus a ยฃ5 million bonus because we have become immunised to the stupidity that is the financial aspect to modern day football. When you think that some old people who served this country in war are now scraping by on much less than ยฃ100 a week and afraid to turn their heating on in the winter because of the cost. Or the work that a nurse has to do at the hard end of things it really is amazing that most footballers have such a low level of social conscience. That is why I find Mancini, in particular, such a pathetic individual. To me he is the embodiment of footballing selfishness and stupidity.
I know Charlie, i happen to agree with you….
My old man never missed a Parramatta Eels league game from around 1962 til around 1984.
Home and away games,he went to them all.
Yes,he was bloody passionate, but he watched for the enjoyment and mateships that grew from being a Parra fan,not simply to see them win trophies.
Believe me,Arsenal fans havent seen anything like what Parra went through in the early days.
Years of winning a few games per year.
26 years since they’ve won a Grand Final.
7 years is bloody nothing.
Or b, Lee…
He is supposed to have said that our DM’s are too attacking, no s***e sherlock ๐
Scott – as i said earlier, that’s why blogs are around, to let off a bit of steam and have fun along the way, its that time of year when we are fed hope and left feeling cheated….
Scott, if your referring to 10.42, whinging, bitching and moaning is a bit strong don’t you think.
My comment wasnt a dig about nationality or anything of that nature, it was a comment that someone from the otherside of the world i.e. all that way, has seen to have been able to label me boring based on the fact that after 25 years of being a season ticket holder, I am seriously questioning whether I want to renew. I personally (as in dont necessarirly expect you to share the view) think that, that is a sad indictment on the club and believe it or not I have actually shared that view with Ivan Gazidis in an email. To date, I haven’t yet had a reply but only sent it on the 1/6, but will share it if and when I do get a response. I guess that with Bank Holidays and spinning the latest press release, Ivan has been a busy boy.
All I am asking for as a fan is an honest insight as to what the expectations are that we are being asked to buy into and some degree of accountability. For example Vernat stated what Wenger said about the need to generate a profit of ยฃ15-ยฃ20m a season, now that is fine becasue that is something equivalent to the “mortgage” repayment, but there was a perceived undertone that that profit needed to come from player trading. Yet that statement is countered by board members saying AW has money to spend or even coments that AW can spend ยฃ30M on a player etc etc. There is no caveat, that he first has to make ยฃ45 in sales to fund the ยฃ30M. So what is it, where is the clarity? Where is the truth? Maybe I shouldn’t care, but I do.
However, I did think that by definition a blog, was effectively an opinion and therefore might be a decent place to share opinions. Especially an Arsenal based opinion on an Arsenal blog
Micko. Agreed.
Adam, we agree on something…..had to happen one day lol.
Nurses,Fireman, even Coppers……..compare their wages to sportsmen and it’s absolutely obscene.
Ryan. Excellent comment. Reasoned and completely non hysterical. As a fellow season ticket holder and Islington-born lifelong Gooner I understand exactly where you are coming from.
Afternoon AK,
Off topic Miss Young Guns too. It balanced my daily juice on things Arsenal.
On topic The Aristo Cats model is hampering the appointment of legends that actually played the game. Those of stature who can swing transfer deals and fight for pitch performance at board level. It beggs a question why we never revolutionized that part of our structure and business model.
Sagna is in dubai very close to where i live… he is meeting arsenal fans here and signing autographs… i’ll go meet him in the evening … lets see if he spills anything about the M’villa deal ๐
Kev, I did hear when the floods were bad in the uk you couldn’t be arsed with the sand bags and used the money bags instead.
Kev used gold bars.
It’s not the eight years of not winning a trophy that irks me, if the eight years of selling our best players and not replacing them..
The spin that comes from the club, the poxy constant youth project which in all honesty has produced very little….
The ‘this is my best squad ever’ comments….
Many good points on here today. This is what HH is really all about.
Ryan – Highbury House is exactly what you expect it to be, and that is the place to share your opinion as do we all, and if others don’t like your view, well it’s tough….
Bet you don’t get a reply though, I never did and don’t know anyone who ever has… Other than the ‘thank you for contacting us’ auto reply….
Ryan, I rented out my tickets last season and have decided not to renew this season, pretty much for the reasons you stated….paying top dollar to watch too much mediocrity, just didn’t work!
Micko,I thought it was clear that my comments have been directed to the numerous people on various sites and forums, not just at Ryan and not just at that post.
If not, then that was my Intention.
Adam,I think it’s got to the stage if I said it was black, you’d say it’s whi te,so I’m not too fussed either way.
Ryan,i will take you at your word that you’ve sent the email, and I’d love to hear one day you did get a reply.
I haven’t once suggested Ivan or the board are doing a good job,and you really could have ended his debate by saying you’d sent the email a few posts back.
Either way,I will back your right to whine, bitch and moan on here!!!!
You are the first I’ve heard from, and I guarantee id have done likewise.
Well done.
Adam, and the poor old pensioners, what do they get…. Where has AK gone ๐
Terry – suggestion is that the M’Vila deal is done and will be announced after the euros, go see if Bac will confirm it – promise him you won’t tell anyone other than Highbury House ๐
In the last eight years the club has reduced its debt by 240 million I know its not a trophy but it was important to keep the club stable
Rico, dont forget my favourite:
“zee mental strength”
I don’t realistically expect to get a reply but wanted to document my view to them. I know the attitude towards me if I decide not to renew will be very much of me as a consumer and how they have people waiting in the wings to buy my seat, whilst conveniently ignoring the constant swathes of empty seats they had last year and whilst those seats might have been sold but not occupied, they should possibly be worried about the longer term effects of that kind of malaise.
Scott, i’m not gonna get involved in a willy waving contest with you, from what I saw the other night you’d win hands down !
Happy medium vernat, thats all we want and need imho
That one Ryan, a bit zzzzzzzzz isn’t it ๐
Ask about RVP too,Terry.
Micko,at least I’m consistent.
Adam – your 1.14, nice ๐
its a seesha cafe where he’ll b coming he may just spill something if he gets a little high on seesha ๐
ya but if we do sign M’villa we will have a very strong team next season:
podolski Rvp Walcott
Rosicky Song M’villa
Santos Vermy Kozzer Sagna
Szczhezny.
2 holding mids aginst the likes of stroke and gang
and a midfield 3 of areta m’villa wilshare/ rosicky against the likes of Man unt, Chelshit…
That’s all we ask for terry, a side/squad that looks able to compete, not one that as soon as we get an injury goes to rats poop….
Terry, let’s hope Bacary’s not had his head turned by the petro-dollars…. ๐
When our starting eleven is fit we’re a match for anyone and with a couple of additions we’ll be even more competitive….so frustrating!
Lee, if Sagna is at a Sheesha Cafe, it seems more likely he has had his head turned by Chamakh !!
i agree reco.. one injury and we are doomed thats our story for the last 4-5 seasons…. just imagine if wenger had acted quicky and got arteta mert santos along with gerviniho at the begining of the season and shown cecs and nasri that we are actually competeing for honoours and convinced then to stay just for one more season we would have actually won something this season.
this is what we would have looked like this season:
Nasri Rvp Gervinho
Cecs Arteta song
Santos Vermy Kozzer Sagna
Szczhezny.
i bet neither cecs nor nasri would have left us after a glourious season and with Gladiola leaving he would have changed his mind not to move there.
Obviously, at one level, Arsenal must be thought of as a business. We all get that. But a football club – and I believe Arsenal in particular, is so much more. Once you start thinking of fans as customers you have missed the point and when you do you may never be able to turn the clock back. What makes us different is fan loyalty and that is forged over many, many, many years home and away, by a unique and unusual bond that is formed between the fans, the players and the club, (in the form of those who run it). It is a delicate thing indeed and is based on trust. But, once you break that covenant of trust you are in big, big trouble. I do wonder if an American businessman like Stan can ever really grasp the uniqueness of this relationship. There is no question that, as fans, we have been spun a whole load of crap over the past few years and I am surprised that Wenger, in particular, has been a part of this propaganda. I thought that he, especially, would understand where the fans are in terms of the position Arsenal found themselves in regarding the Emirates move and the rise of the sugar daddy clubs, both of which have impacted our club hugely. People I know and some here are wondering about season ticket renewal because of the money involved AND because they hear what is said and see how little of it comes true. Because they see us selling our best players every season and not spending on proper replacements and because they are not stupid and realise that we are stuck in this pattern of being perpetually in a state of flux where 4th is our ambition. I do not believe that we are whinging or moaning at all and I have never heard anybody suggest we must bankrupt the club to compete. But our squad is not strong enough and we need to improve it drastically. Let’s face it, even with unlimited funds, Man City and Chelsea are hardly fantastic, uasailable teams are they? Gazidis, Wenger and Kroenke need to show the fans some real ambition or the fans will remind them who really holds the power.
Exactly Lee and thats hardly going to break the bank of afc…
๐ Ryan – Chamakh, when will he find another club…
Still here Rico…
Us millionaires have to have a count~up from time to time. ๐
I support the manager.
And i support the players.
But i do not trust a single word that any of the present Board utter.
They are a bunch of liars.
End of….
Imho that is.
I heard Sagna is in Dubai taking up a professional course sand sculpting. Planning to resurrect statues around the Ems. Suggestions can be forwarded to his Twitter account.
hahaha @ lee/ Ryan bacary is arsenal through and through… as for chamakh i dont think he is a bad striker just not good enough for arsenal. He would do very well in a team like everton/ newcastle or any team that plays arial ball game.
I think nasri would terry, he was after a huge pay rise, ces, well he maintained he wanted to go home so maybe he too would have gone anyway… guess we’ll never know..
Can’t we palm off our dead wood to fat sam, he’s got an eye for a shite player…..
RYan, you have made some good points and without any malice.
I hope you stick around.
The same goes for all the newcomers today.
Adam, hope you are better today.
Mick, lend me a fiver?
Scott. Me neither. You complain about whinging, bitching and moaning but as far as I can see you are the only person here who actually indulges in that on a daily basis with your insults. But you are right. I doubt you and I will ever agree and I feel more than happy to admit that.
Adam – well said..
customers, if that is what the club really think we all are, they have totally lost the plot, but they certainly treat us in such a way…
In which case, it’s about time M&S sold to a better owner, one who is more equipped to give the clubs customers better value for money…
Kev. Thanks mate. Feeling much better now and might even do some work later to celebrate.
Adam,(I will at least show you the respect of using your name when directing comments at you,so please do the same),if people threaten to not renew their tickets on Internet forums whilst doing nothing to let the club know, then it is whining and it is a waste of time.
Adam, well said I thoroughly agree. I possibly doubt the American contingent get that either, especially with the whole sporting franchise model they have over there. The trouble you have when you start treating people like consumers then thats how they will behave.
Rico, unfortunately it probably won’t be until his contract runs out with us because it would appear that his weekly wage packet far outweighs his level of talent. So if he has no sporting ambition we are probably stuck with him, unless we pay him off or subsidise him. But hopefully I am wrong and someopne, somewhere rates him and is even happy to pay us for him !!
Charlie, Wenger annoys me too, he is happy to go along with it all and take his salary and if it is all down to the board, why hasn’t he quit, surely he is a better man than to be just a puppet for the old farts on the board….
Adam, you would never admit to agreeing with me,that’s you’re problem.
Hiya Dutch.
What’s making news on the sportspages in Der Nederlands?
Sorry kev, I never carry anything smaller than a 20 spot.
Lee, we have the best Morrocan striker in the premiership looking for a new club, I’m sure we could do a deal with fat sam.
Does anyone think the Russian will bring better value for money??
If he runs it like Abramovich does Chelsea, would that satisfy everyone??
Hey,everyone knocks them, but they won the CL,and it seems a trophy has become the thing everyone wants above all else.
I am using your name Scott. I see it often enough. If you look at the beginning of my post you will see your name. People are not threatening not to renew Scott. They are telling others that they are thinking about not renewing and explaining why. Once again it is you who have introduced the word ” threaten” to try and and make a point which doesn’t actually exist but just happens to suit the general shoutiness of your posts.
We do not know what Usmanov brings to the table, and once he’s i,he’s in.
Be careful what you wish for.
Cheers Charlie George, who i am assuming is also the Kev that people are referring to, so cheers Kev.
Believe me Scott. I am more than happy not to agree with you and I see that as a positive benefit rather than a problem. Let’s leave it at that now as I don’t want to upset Rico by taking this any further.
Arsene doesn’t break contracts and he loves Arsenal. I think it was telling that last season he said that we don’t know the truth of the situation and circumstances he is working under but he would not betray his employer by speaking out.
Lets be clear Arsene could have walked into any job he wanted and still could but he has been loyal to the club and to a large extent they have let him down.
Adam, admit it to all…you’ve directed lots of sarcastic comments to me of late on the sly.
I’d bet most wouldn’t even realise it.
It’s not all about you.
It’s not all about Ryan.
Read my posts again, and you may well find that I’ve said numerous people on various sites.
Numerous and various means it not just HH,and not just you.
Is it clear enough for you this time??
Good call Adam,I just ask you stop the sly comments.
Scott, you are right no one really knows what he would bring to the table, I certainly wouldn’t want to see us become a hire and fire merchant, but some realistic ambition with some associated accountability would be nice.
Knowing about it isn’t the same as being excited about it. That’s the regression Arsenal has gone through. Brand management isn’t based entirely on symbolism if there’s human capital involved in the overall brand equity. Identity consists of symbolism, personality and behavior. Building towards competitive edges should mean every year you’re able to switch the cogs to a bigger blade, so each turn delivers more momentum.
Vernat,he cops a lot on behalf of the board for sure.
I reckon his autobiography wold make a great read.
No Scott, you are wrong.
Supporters who are late in renewing their tickets, on purpose. Are exercising their rights as a customer.
It is a way of showing the club, that you are not satisfied with it’s policies. A protest if you like.
And i’ll tell ya mate.
If Arsenal brought back terracing and payment on the day, then they would lose 40/50% of their season ticket holders overnight.
Season tickets is the clubs way of holding the fans to ransom.
That is. You either get a season ticket. Or you don’t get in!!!
In essense the waiting list was a form of blackmail…..
Vernat. You may possibly be right but let’s not feel too sorry for a man earning ยฃ7 million a year shall we? Also, you say that he could have any job he wanted, but would he want a job that didn’t offer him the power and control that he has at Arsenal? Would Real Madrid, Barcelona or Chelsea allow him the autonomy he seems to have at Arsenal? I doubt it. And would those clubs allow him to indulge his ways to the extent of not winning anything for seven years? Again, I don’t think so.
Scott. What sly comments?
Agreed Ryan.
Give Wenger, and I guess, the board, his transfer season to be proactive.
After last year,if they can’t get it right now, they never will and should all quit….Wenger included,as it would prove he really doesn’t have Their support.
As I thought Adam.
Enough.
That’s me Ryan.
You can call me what you like mate.
Just don’t call me Gambon…. ๐
AK,I’m not sure which part I’m wrong on there.
Playing the waiting game to get a result is one thing, and I don’t have a problem with that.
Gentlemen shall we move on???
Where is he AK??
You haven’t got him hogtied in the boot of our cab, have you??
Kev, you must be telepathic…I was just going to post that!!! ๐
Adam, i agree lets not be too sad for the man who makes 7 million a year but without being in complete possession of the facts (none of us are on the board) lets not also be to hard on the 6th of June before the transfer window is open on the man who has made our club what it is today shall we?
I agree with a lot of what has been said and we need to spend some money if we don’t and we don’t make a creditable challenge to win next year then lets make a change. His autonomy by the way has not exactly turned into a disaster has it? And in those seven years he has enabled the club to pay back 240 million pounds of the debt that it has incurred by moving into a new stadium which without his previous teams and management we would not have now.
Scott. If my comments were so sly that nobody noticed them apart from you then I would look closer to home if I were you. Largely I have tried to ignore you actually. I have no problems with anyone here and if I want to make a point I will do so. To assume somehow that it has to be at some cost to you is wrong. You are confrontational to most people here and I think that is detrimental to the tone of the site and disrespectful to the person who built the site for our benefit. Now, please just drop it.
Ryan, Allez Kev,AK, Kev,Grandpa (Stan’s word not mine) and 47 are all the same person.
Vernat. I agree.
Vernat, I kond of agree with you I think Arsen does love the club and his job and he might have some inner turmoil going in with the balancing act that he might be having to achieve. But I am also a cynical bastard and wonder, that if you feel that passionately against something that is going on and like you say could easily get another job, then why would you be complicit in it, whilst picking up the or one of the, highest management wage packets in the league <——– I did warn you that I was a cynical bastard, so hopefully you could feel that last bit coming !! ๐
Who is knocking at my door??
Lee – ๐ re fat sam, i can think of half a dozen he could have …
Ryan. I agree. You are a cynical bastard.
Blimey, i only left to vacum the upstairs ๐
best i have a read…..
Scott, you know exactly what i mean mate, now don’t try dancing around my points.
I almost always make an effort to see your side of things ans agree with a lot of what you say.
But in this my friend, you are wrong.
The silent majority of fans only have one opportunity a year to register their displeasure at being annually lied to by the Board.
And this is it.
The rest of the time PHW & his poncey friends don’t give a shit.
I reserve the right to delay payment.
It’s my protest.
Not at Wenger.
But at the Board.
I think that is clear now Digger…. ๐
Ryan i am also a cynical bastard but i believe Arsene believes that just because some one else behaves dishonourably does not mean he has to. Simply put i think Arsene honours his contract and through that himself and how he behaves and believes he should live. God knows we have seen how he sticks to his principles on playing the game and his refusal to change that.
I’m a cynical bastard too.. ๐
Scott, you a bit sensitive today?
Cheers Kev and Lee.
Kev, I dont think the tone of ytour comments would suit the name Gambon ๐
Hiya Lee.
I hope you didn’t eat all the jelly & ice cream?
Mick, ยฃ20 is good…
But not โฌ20…..
Ryan – what about Spectrum ๐
AK,I honestly don’t.
I don’t care if people choose not to renew as its a personal choice and a big financial commitment.
I thought I’ve made my position clear enough.
I don’t get why so many fans threaten to not renew on forums without telling the club.
If I have a problem with you,i won’t talk behind your back,I will talk to you.
If I have an issue with the club,I will direct my complaints to them and not to anyone that will listen.
Again,Ryan pointed out he has directed his complaints to the club,so I backed off totally and agreed he has his right to speak about it to anyone that will listen because he’s been active in actually making a change.
Delaying payment to make a point and threatening not to renew are two different thinks,I believe.
You got these historical statue fountains where people throw in coins for good luck. We could organize a inflatable kiddo splashy with a gnome (Micko delivers) in front of the Ems.
RICO, think a few miss my point,or else I’m not getting it across properly.
I’m not sensitive…..still here,battling away.
Adam calls me confrontational……well, people know where I stand and I speak directly to people, not from around corners!!
Scott, Usmanov has been making all the right noises for a good while now but the current board are happy to cock their arses up to the moon, too busy making money off the back of the club, some heads need banging together, the sooner the better for me.
Dutch,use Modric!!
You might be right on Usmanov,Rico.
I don’t enough to say he’d be no good for the club, but if he comes in,we are stuck with him, good or bad.
Scott – it is not meant to be a battle, it’s meant to be fun and enjoyable – you just can’t resist a dig at fans who happen to disagree with you.
Debate but why the heck the need for insults along the way?
Sorry Micko…….
Adam! It’s not worth it. It’s not worth it…….
Dutch, some drink from the fountain of knowledge while others only gargle, there’s nothing I don’t know about gnomes.
RICO,are you serious??
Don’t start this again.
You reckon I cop no insults???
Ok Scott, i’ll give you that…
Do you honestly think that the Board give a shit whether i write to complain or not?
Surely you can glean from their public statements, especially those of PHW, that they hold the fanbase in contempt.
The only time they respond, is when you hit them in the pocket.
As i said.
And i will repeat this.
The club would lose 40/50% of it’s season ticket holders if they brought back terracing and pay on the day…
Season tickets…
It’s a form of blackmail.
Takes one to know one Adam :-d
Scott
Is Stan doing anything good?
reality is that we know no more about Usmanovs intentions than we do Stan at this moment in time – it could be he wants to get in, spend some money before FFP kicks in and then keep us stable…
Just because he has a bit of a background, doesn’t mean is is a bad man who will destroy the club…
Micko We drink from the fountain of youth. Our board being a prime example.
I always wondered if gnomes take shots of botox up their arses. They always look like the behind of Beyonce or J. Lopez. Care to enlighten me?
Ryan. I suppose we could form The League Of Cynical Bastards. But you would have to be chairman. It’s a role you could share with Kev.
RICO,I just read back all posts, and the most insulting thing I said is Ryan’s post,or the motive, was boring, which Ryan cleared up in my eyes.
Im confrontational, detrimental to the tone of the site and disrespectful to you, according to Adam.
Now I understand Adams been here a lot longer than I have, but get serious on this, please.
Scott – I don’t start, you do with you little digs at people who you don’t agree with – just like you did with me the other day on an article you happened to not like…
Well, I won’t start it, but i will finish it if you cant keep your insults to yourself….
I’d like to drink from the fountain of 1664…….
I have said all that I am Scott – it’s your choice from this moment onwards…
Afternoon Gambon, President of what may I ask?
Apparantly Adam, i ‘could’ also be a hypocrite.
But a cynic, misery guts, yeah i’ll share that position with Wath…
And where is my grumpy Grandson???.
Offski now.
You’ll have to argue without me… ๐
Who knows what Usmanov wants, and no,Stan is doing bugger all for the club.
I don’t know what the answer is,but I am not sure if Usmanov is.
Things are pointing to him taking over,so let’s cross our fingers his intentions are honourable.
Sorry dutch, i’ve signed the Official Secrets Act.
DG10 – thats funny, i knew i recognised the email address ๐ ๐
Make mine a Stella Lee please, buckets of the stuff ๐
AK, the boat is firmly being pushed out ce soir…….Pizza Express is the chosen venue!
All I am asking Rico,is what insults??
Which ones were comparable to Adams??
Fair treatment is all I’ve ever asked for.
Adam, I think we could up our class level and be The League of Cynical Gentlemen !!
On the ST renewal front, I know its thoroughly unrealistic, but I am all for giving the Manager and the Board the summer to do their transfer business and judeg them accordingly. As such wouldn’t iyt be nice if they extended the same timeline to ST renewal, atleast then you know what you are buying into !! But they only give us until the 1st June. Either that or give us to the 1st June and then offer a no qibble money back guarantee if we don’t like the cut of their transfer dealings !! I can dream hey !!
Which Pizza Express is that Lee?
Scott 2.34, that went over my head.
Have a good afternoon AK, don’t go gate crashing pizza express later ๐
Ryan. I agree wholeheartedly with the Gentlemen amendment. But, spoken like a true Arsenal customer.
I and my wife renewed last week. Hope springs eternal in the human breast.
My previous post was responding to you Micko, but I actually named Rico.
HH what will it be like when the window opens? Tin hat required…..
Lee. I am keeping my powder dry ’till that day. When I see Kalou-less arrive I shall relax.
Flak jackets as well Lee.
Lee – i think so..
Adam – Kalou is still being linked to us, it’s stuff that nightmares are made of….
Lee, the word you are looking for is anarchy.
Did you know that the French TW opens this month, 17th i think i read ๐
Come on now Rico. I know you like him really. You, like me, see him as part of a front three with you-know-who on the left.
Lock away the Valium ๐
Ha ha Adam, ok, you are right, can’t wait to see him in our new kit…
Me too. I think his Mohican will look great in red and white.. But most importantly, he is on a free. ‘Nuff said.
Micko may I suggest you’re belittling me just out of professional courtesy not able to hush hush on inside knowledge. Well that’s mighty noble of you my patron. Stick it than where the sun don’t shine and only hemaroids grow. ๐
Rico ๐ President of the blog insult comity.
I suppose he’d be ok to have on the bench, there are a few in the nearby parks….
Seriously though, why would we try and get him without seeing what Lansbury can offer, I know which of the two I’d rather see playing….
afternoon all
“Triffic little player”
๐ DG
Evening newspapers report that Zenit want to sign Arshavin….
That’s good isn’t it….
Rico. I see Kalou-less as an unpolished diamond and an improvement on Chamakh. Now, you must agree with at least the second part of that statement.
Interesting article on UA, Cardiff city have had to change there shirts and crests because of the new owners, at least we have not gone that far … yet
http://blog.emiratesstadium.info/archives/21733
Does that mean is off to join Arry then?
E’s a triffic player that Osman Ballou. I’ve ‘ad ‘im watched many times this season. Looks Europa League quality to me”.
Have to give you taht one Adam…
Changing our badge was bad enough vernat….
And e aint got nuffink to do on Thursday nights either.
Its touch and go whether Arry will be with ‘that lot’ next season….
That’s right Rico.. But I hope he stays for a long time myself. Somehow it’s a marriage made in heaven.
Kalou-less got a hooker as a birthday present from the pensioners. I don’t want this Huge Grant at my club driving around town at midnight.
Off for a while. It’s been fun (sort of) today. Rico. I sent you a quick mail.
they certainly deserve eachother Adam, last season was a one off imho – their true colours shone through in the last couple of months ๐
I have replied Adam – have a good afternoon and hope you are feeling better….
Re. Euros
Iโve been watching France over the last few friendlies and whatโs impressed me most of them is that they are dynamic and extremely fluid. They are not as good as Spain in midfield but as an overall unit they are betterโฆโฆthe only thing they lack is some leadership which Ribery & Benzema must provide.
Btw Ribery & Benzema are on fire and that should bode well for France.
Rico. Working on the computer but I didn’t receive a mail.
Hi KM, I think they could very well batter England on Monday…
Any luck this time Adam?
Pizza Express is off……….
Fraid not.
My clan have been soaked crabbing this afternoon…….. ๐
Why Lee?? ๐
Must be your end Adam, mine is saying ‘sent’ ๐
Can’t they get dry ๐
What would you define as a realistic challenge for the title?, for me going into the last five games no more than six points of the top then fair enough. Cups, at least quarters in league cup, and fa cup and the same in champions league.
I would say if we did that at least we had improved and overall not a bad season, at least we were there or thereabouts.
Ryan L re money back guarantee. I would seriously applaud this if the board makes such no way back commitment. Never happens though cuz that would actually threaten their comfortable positions directly and probably means too much vulnerability for the club finances as it turns power and force control into the hands of public appreciation. Comparable to voting ‘likes’ on a Facebook account.
Besides Arsenal will be risking the certainty of large funds. Kev is right season tickets are extortion to many degrees.
On the subjects of kits and changing kits, how do you feel about a purple away kit? Yes I am serious.
I will check it out Rico, but still getting other mails. Thanks.
The sport of kings is extremely strenuous let alone in the pouring rain.
Dutch I would applaud it to, but for the reasons you stated it will never happen, unfortunately. It would just be nice to see the club make sopme sort of comitment to the transfer market and stick to it, as opposed to spin and bullshit.
vernat – being just a few points off the top would mean a lot, but being one point ahead of the rest would be better ๐
Not conceding 49 goals would be another vast improvement, we need to cut that right down to less than half
Ryan – that plum coloured one was bad enough, i couldn’t face a purple one ๐
๐ Lee, home early and making jelly now then..
Adam, have sent it again….
Vernat, I concur with your goals but it’d be nice to beat manure for a change…..
Still at the coal face Rico…
Home and away would be nice too…..
In thats case, sorry to break it to you but the new awy kist is purple !! Well one of the colours used in the hooping is purple.
Spoil sports, they should let you go early Lee…
Just sent you an email to make sure its working, can’t seem to get one to Adam…
Yeah i was trying to define the minimum acceptable season (MAS) before i starting screaming .. OFF with his HEAD
Ryan they must have some BS generator software but as penny pinchers they just downloaded the free trial version, which is limited in options. ๐
Ah, I thought you meant all purple Ryan – Ive sen the dennis the menace kit ๐
Its like the Dennis the Menace kit Rico, but its a purple hoop and the marketing slogan will be “Purple Reign “
Adam, mine is fine, have checked it – sorry you have a problem with your end ๐ณ
Only if we win something Ryan ๐
I’m not keen on hoops, they make players look fat, poor old Santos ๐
vernat, your last is funny …
But i think ‘off with his head’ will be called before the end of the season if things don’t go right this transfer window…
Lets hope it doesn’t come to that, wouldn’t want to see AW leave in such a way, i’d love him to win the PL again first…
I would like to see him win as well, and shove it right up City, Utd, Chelsea and of course the Totts and Scousers
Wouldn’t we all vernat, i don’t think we are as far off as some fans think, just 4 players by my reckoning ๐
Where has everyone gone ๐
Nice one rico top 3 on Newsnow must be catching ๐
I think two players and then with the youngsters coming into the squad and players at the club a second year and we should be close
Hi Steve, thanks, I try not to look at NN as it’s painful – only in the morning to make sure the post has gone up…. ๐
Why am i the only one who isn’t convinced that M’vila is joining us?…am i missing something or is rico ms.M’vila by any chance? ๐ ๐
I reckon 3/4 vernat, including a keeper..
Think we need a little more creativity in midfield, another central defender, a defensive midfielder and a striker…
Not for one minute do I expect us to sign four though ๐
๐ Kt, he is far too young for me, maybe my son…
It comes from all the twitter/media reports no doubt which came out last month, there is no smoke without fire ๐
I expect a clearout first upto 4
Just four?
Chamakh
Nik
JD
Denilson
Arshavin
Fabianski
I’m sure a few reserves to add ๐
Ramsey ๐
Am not convinced yet but if true i’ll be excited.
Kt, who is the other DM we have been linked to, Capoue or similar I think, some say he is the better option, I haven’t heard of him, do you know much about him?
Van persie needs to decide and remain with arsenal becoz actually wenger has been so accomodative to him as far as injury is concerned. He now has to give everything to arsenal to pay for that time otherwise many great players have left arsenal and we can not force him to stay.
Striker and Goal keeper, got Coquelin and Wiltshere coming back into the squad for midfiled, add Miyachi and maybe Lansbury and a refreshed and hopefully better Ramsey midfields looks ok. Got bartley and miquel for Centre back so ok there as well, at some point we have to use and trust these kids and as fourth choice i dont think that is to much to ask
Don’t think your far off Vern.
M’vila had a poor season by his standards and Capoue was better but id rather m’vila.he isn’t bad but m’vila has more to his game.
I have a feeling that Wilshere will go out on loan to regain his fitness for the first part of the season, and Ryo will also be loaned out, Southampton are trying to get him…
Bartley and Miquel – are either of them really good enough vernat? Miquel maybe in time, Bartley, i haven’t a clue, some rangers fans think hes good, others say different….
Thanks Kt, but should we get either, that has to be better than Song?
Back in a bit, dinner needs cooking….
At some point they have to play to find out lets get rid of the Squid and trust them i liked the look of Miquel last season when he played stayed pretty calm and if Kos or the BFG is beside him i think he will be fine not sure about him and Verm together though. Gary cahill looked crap last season in a Bolton shirt but won he CL with Chelsea.
I hope we keep wiltshere at the club and the saints can carry on marching right past us. if we off load arshavin then lets keep miyachi in the squad, Santos can play left wing as well
Rico, Wilshire is an established first teamer, an England international, there’s no chance we’ll send him out on loan, he’s got the whole summer to get himself fit, he’ll be running out of the tunnel come August.
Evening all….
santos is def more a winger vernat… re cahill, he wanted out i think and his performances reflected that, and deep down he wanted to join us, if only wenger had made a proper offer, he’d be in red and white now
Micko, you reckon jack won’t suffer another set back before the beginning of the season? ๐
Evening Lady!!!!
Yossi Benayoun claims he will ‘soon’ have news regarding his future, with it expected that he will be on his way out of Chelsea this summer.
The Israel international spent much of the 2011/12 campaign on loan at Arsenal after being deemed surplus to requirements by the Blues.
He is due back at Stamford Bridge after seeing that agreement come to an end, but there appears to be no place for him in the west London club’s plans.
Chelsea were keen to offload the 32-year-old on a permanent basis last year, but eventually agreed to a long-term loan.
Benayoun appears to have accepted his fate and is mulling over his options.
Decision
He has been linked with a return to former employers West Ham, who brought him to England in 2005, as well as Dutch giants Ajax.
Maccabi Haifa are also said to be in the process of piecing together a package to tempt Benayoun back to his homeland.
The experienced forward is yet to reveal which path he will be treading, but admits he is close to making a decision.
He posted on Twitter: “I hope I will have some news about my future soon.”
Now that football is off the agenda for quite a few weeks I am taking all the time with the little one. We do odd jobs in the garage, do some sports, enjoy some dangerous pillow fighting on the bed, study together, tease each other and generally have fun. And we do include the missus…..usually as pig in the middle during fun times. ๐
Evening devil, hows you today?
๐ – best way to be devil…
I got really lucky with dinner tonight, had a 30 min break of rain, quick dash to light the bbq, 5 mins later there was marinated quorn fillets and sweetcorn sizzling – all cooked and indoors and the heavens opened ๐
We have one heck of a storm in not so sunny berkshire ๐
If i disappear its because the internet has crashed…
Its better if you switch off everything then Lady. A lightning bolt can set you back a couple of thousand euros…..in burnt appliances.
Your in the eyes of twisters today. Giggles ๐
Its ok at the moment devil, but i totally understand what you are saying, if it gets worse, i’ll be off…. ๐
twister DG, is that an ice-cream ๐
Of course we always enjoy your presence. Much better if you are here. But we would understand if you went off.
There are so many conundrums regarding RVP that I have stopped thinking about it. I have become immune to ……is he staying and is he going. I simply dont give a shit.
Guys, i am logging off now, it’s not so good…
Catch you all tommorow or maybe later if this dreadful weather passes….
Night all, stay safe….
Good night Lady. I am off too. Need all the beauty sleep I can get.
See you tomorrow Fine Folk.
Well, Rico it’s if you take it as a Ben&Jerry’s flavor: Caramel moaning & Rumble in the jungle. ๐
Night coach you’re right even as a Dutch I find the whole situation tedious to the bone.
Nite nite lady. Enjoy ya evening.
“it would be a massive move to Arsenal, because they were always my favourite”.
I’ve heard the name, but what can you guys tell me aout the guy who said this,Lewis Holtby
I know he’s an AM,and he’s young,but is he good enough.
I’m to sure of the context in which this quite was made,so am certainly not suggesting anything may happen.
Morning guys.
Usual lack of concern what Arsenal fans think. Gazo should go and David Dein return.
I’m reading plenty on M’Villa being an absolutely done deal.
Sounds great, but can anyone think of a reason it wouldn’t be announced??
Just read a report from someone at the Gazidis meeting with fans last night.
He gave the guy a thumbs up,and said he’s quite bullish about the clubs prospects next season.
Gazidis was involved in setting up FFP and reckons it will definitely have a big influence, and certainly play into Arsenals hands.
Morning all….
Morning all.
A post i found yesterday explaining
About the AST befor last nights meeting i thought may be of interest.http://angryofislington.com/2012/06/06/why-supporter-shareholders-are-important-for-arsenal/
