Well, what a boost for every Arsenal yesterday when afc.com announced that Thomas Vermaelen signed a new long-term contract, now all we need is for van Persie, Walcott and Sagna to follow suit.

Robin van Persie however, feels that Thomas could do so much better, not on the football front though, he’s referring to his choice of motor vehicle.

Yep, Robin has told Thomas via twitter that he can now afford to buy a better car and he should ditch the one above…

How cruel eh 😉

Back to the good news and that is about Almunia, he could be staying with West Ham a bit longer which is good, the longer he stays there, the less likely it is that Wenger could be tempted to play him in a cup match..

On to tonight and this the travelling squad:

Wojciech Szczesny
Lukasz Fabianski
Carl Jenkinson
Andre Santos
Per Mertesacker
Laurent Koscielny
Johan Djourou
Tomas Rosicky
Mikel Arteta
Alex Song
Theo Walcott
Gervinho
Yossi Benayoun
Francis Coquelin
Andrey Arshavin
Aaron Ramsey
Robin van Persie
Marouane Chamakh

Ramsey returns, Gibbs is out injured and there is no place for Park or Chamberlain, which is a bit of a surprise, in fact I am beginning to wonder why Wenger signed Park. He scores for fun for his country but still no sign of a chance for his club……..

Loïc Rémy believes that everyone is expecting an easy home victory:

Everyone sees us beating Arsenal easily. We proved that we could respond in big games such as when we played Dortmund. We have the necessary capacity and quality to play such teams.

But Arsenal remain a team who can play extremely well and therefore we will be wary.

As Remy points out, they battered Dortmund so we are in for a tough night in Marseille.

Well, we have thought similar to that in the past and it’s bitten us on the butt, just look back at the Carling Cup final and other games last season that we all thought we’d win at a canter.

We didn’t win them though; in fact we struggled in many of them and that in my opinion that was a lot down to being complacent, too complacent.

Remy went on to add:

We must remain humble in relation to their situation.

The Champions League is an entirely different competition and Arsene Wenger’s men will have the desire to make amends.

He is right there, If Marseille think we are going to be a pushover, they need to rethink!

Ok, many may think they we don’t stand a cat in hells chance of going to France and coming back with anything from tonight’s game but why can’t we?

The pressure is off of us for this one fixture because we have already been written off, so the players can play without the tonne of bricks on their shoulders that so often seems present these days.

Loïc Rémy is a player that has been linked to us on many occasion, so no doubt all eyes will be on him, well after we have beaten his side tonight, maybe he’ll think about it…

Not that we want him now of course do we, he’s had the Marseille touch…. 😉

Have a good day all….
