Where does the time go? Three years ago today, Highbury House was born……….
I would just like to reiterate to you that in the last 16 years we have been very successful with transfers.
A squad has to have the right number. Not enough players is not good. Too many players and there is no competition any more. That is not very good as well. We will have the right balance when the transfer window closes, don’t worry.
We are worrying Arsene, it’s the 21st August, the transfer window closes in just 12 days and you’ve had all summer.
The new season started on Saturday, it doesn’t start on the 3rd September!!
I wish he’d stop looking back and start looking forward, no wonder we are always playing catch up, the man is stuck in the past!
Another daunting day ahead in the life of an Arsenal fan I fear as the squad have travelled to Turkey ahead of tonights first leg of the Champions League qualifier.
I say squad, it seems like whoever is fit, plays!

It is important not to let the mood drop – after such a disappointing start that will be the difficulty. We will bounce back because the spirit and focus in the team is good, but I don’t deny that this is a massive disappointment for us.
We missed chances, we were a bit unlucky and we got some injuries, all three together. It is a fragile position. There was bit of fatigue as well after [the midweek] international games and all that together created this [result].
What is important is to rebuild confidence before Wednesday night. It is a massive game for us. There is always a lot of danger in a team because it is a human activity multiplied by 25 – it means the negativity can spread quickly.
It is the first game of the season and we want to bounce back from it. Our season will depend on how we respond to this defeat.
Blaming fatigue at such at the start of the season is just wrong.
Anyway, we have had a bit of good news. Monreal is back in the squad and in full training and all our walking wounded from Saturday are fit. Well all bar Oxlade-Chamberlain, he’ll be a huge miss for the time he’s out…….
It is a big test for us tonight. Turkey is never a dull place when it comes to home football fans and those of Fenerbache will be no different. The only way to silence them is goals and plenty of them…
Do we have the fire power to do that?
Will the squad pick their chins off of the floor and grab a victory out there?
Has the manager got the right words to help the players do both?
I sure hope so……..
Stop exaggerating !! You say that “The Ox” will be a huge loss. The lad has not started half a dozen games and is feeling his way. By all means have your views but don’t get carried away with pessimism.

There are plenty out there who would love to manager our beloved Arsenal.
Blaming fatigue, what a joke. Everyone new there was internationals if only we had quality in depth we may have had a better result Saturday.

Happy bday hh, been reading this blog for a while and it’s one I enjoy as its not solely set on wenger bashing! I agree the man needed to strengthen and blaming fatigue for that performance is a no go! Other teams players played internationals but they still won there games! At the moment i am a pessimistic gooner living in faint hope that wenger will pull some magic out of this transfer window. My opinion is we may be waiting to see if we qualify for champions league as bargaining power but that’s the optimistic side of me! Getting slightly worried by the yids summer spending it shows no signs of abating! They may lose bale but have improved a large chunk of there squad because of it! We need a couple of signings that will make people stand up and say “holy shit arsenals signed …” But maybe ill see pigs flying this summer! Anyway good post keep up the good work

The Ox 20 minute rule , the fatigue dig , Kroenke coming over to Europe to instigate sales last year, there is a lot of full facts that we don’t know about the internal politics in the club. One thing we can surmise however is that there is a power struggle going on and that all is not well at board level and it seems to be spreading throughout the club. Lady Nina’s announcement regarding her shares , the fact she states that she was pressured into the sale speaks volumes to me , As was said in Hamlet :- Something is rotten in the state of “”The Arsenal “”. I am beginning to believe that this American university think tank is over-riding Arsene in setting the top values that we will spend and that Fox and Gazidis have to refer back for updates whenever the goalposts are moved in negotiation.

Not much to say on Arsenal, recent non-events have left me numb.
What exaggeration there is J Gee?? Last year was last year. The fact that this year the OX started ahead of Podolski says many things. The OX was going to be a direct replacement for Gervinho on the flanks.
I can assure you that the OX was going to play in more than 30 games this season and that is not including starts from sub.
So the article is good not exaggerated.

IG screwed us over with his announcement of having money. Pretty much did what selling Torres first did to Liverpool.
Only way I see us getting an ok priced player is to target unhappy players to push a deal from their side.

That is why AW should have bought bodies first and before last season ended………the Podolski way. He should have got a couple of bodies in, then set the deadwood out and then buy the two superstars.
Cabaye should not be worth more than 10 but he will be bought as if he was a superstar. When he is not.
At the moment YES I would go for Barry. If anything he can give us stability, experience and cover in the centre. And not being a fast type he will hold his position in front of the defence. At least he will help us a lot against the Stokes, Palace, Sunderland teams.

Another problem is that Wenger started saying the same thing. If he said something along the lines of needing to cover debt first before he can spend like that 2016 clause in the stadium agreement and perhaps the CL money is included in the 70m. So that he has to qualify first before spending.

Enough or not IG should have never stated that we have the money. Especially as AW likes to go to clubs in difficulties and take their players for pittance. Example……..he went for Monreal and got him for 8.3 million. Had IG said before we got him that we had that amount Malage would have asked for aroung 12 million.

Rico, we have tried to sign quality players though this window… I know that is not enough. The question for me is why are we so repulsive to clubs.
If the conspiracy bigger than just lack of signings or a systematic approach to rid off AW…
The media have wanted him out since day 1 btw…
The players we have bid for including Grenier, Gustavo,Bender to Suarez are very good players. Even Cabaye would be a player and a half if he played for us…
As an example we bid over £9M for Cahill 2 seasons ago but the same manager we tried to help in the past with loans i.e JW and Vela sat on TV and told a big lie that our bid was just £6M. That club ended up selling him for the same price 5 months later and the club got relegated and the manager was sacked.
AL Fayed had agreed to sell Mark S. to us until MArk Hughes was hired and he upped the price by £2M… the rest is history
Another example in this window is where Pardew lied on TV that the bid came in on Sunday when the bid came in on Friday…
Did Perez actually increase the HIg bid by £10M?

Not really Rico , I believe that the American university ( Harvard I think ) set the price and Wenger, Law , Gazidis and Fox have their parameter of maximum bid. It’s why I believe our negotiators are hamstrung. I know that even selling wiper blades you have to be able to settle things immediately. Once you have to refer to someone else , you are lost because the other person always believes that there is a higher power and that there is a better deal to be driven elsewhere..

“Begovic to Arsenal” is the most obvious move we could do in the transfer market. I cannot understand why we have been pussyfooting around, when the answer is between the sticks at Stoke.

Monreal back in the squad is a boost. Gibbs was one who was at fault for our first goal and was nothing short of a whining little bitch when he went off injured.
We are short of quality in defence. Toby Alderweireld has been heavily linked over the past couple of days – he can play right back and central. 24 caps for Belgium. A more sexy signing than Ashley Williams who we have NOT bid for, however he doesn’t have PL experience.
Our midfield is lightweight and is currently missing Arteta. Yohann Cabaye is a good to very good player who would do well with us. He’s not the total answer, but like Arteta, he brings experience – and like our stat man Ginge stated, he has an incredible engine ..

What about the fact that Balague, Cesc,PV04, Catalonia Mayor have all come out to say AW was always given £25M for transfers.
There was talk of there being a performance criteria associated with maintaining CL with the new deal,and there was talk of a similar criteria associated to the original deals associated with the stadium . As part of the deal IG agreed to and sold to us in the form of oil reserve discovered in Blackpool, 70% of all revenues are to be used exclusively in regards to the football team.
Problem being that the new 180m medical & training facilities are also for the exclusive use of the football team,as is the stadium with it’s new murals & statues the club level redevelopment etc.

The thing is, Mr. Cross, is that this was all preventable if Wenger would have spent the money that he had available. It isn’t his job to be the Finance Director, or Chief Accountant – it is his job to do the best with the monies at his disposal – he hasn’t and he hasn’t been doing that for years.

rico – not sure if I agree with that – business is business and everyone knows that Arsenal are desperate and have loads of dosh. It’s all well and good that Wenger flogs a lot of players this year, but it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to realize that they are well short. Other teams are going to exploit that because they can to earn a lot of money. They have Wenger over a barrel and he has to spend over what he thinks. If he doesn’t, the fans will have his head.
Whilst we moan about our transfer policy and lack thereof, Arsenal are the only team playing Champions League football this week (wednesday) and yet have been made by the TV companies to move Saturdays EPL fixture, away at Fulham, forward to 12.45 KO.

Alex Oxlaid Chamberlain is hardly a first pick player, granted with injuries he probably would have come on as a sub, but a massive loss Koshelney would be a massive loss as he happens to be our best player The Ox it has to be said has not had as many starts as Szezesney and i must say he has had more than he deserves, but of course that depends on who you rate and who you dont. At present supporters believe that anything that happens which is not good is Wengers fault, i reckon if the coffee machine runs out its Wengers fault. Wenger will be trying as hard as he can to boost the lads confidence up, he will be telling them that they had a blip on Saturday what with referee’s decisions and a double penalty not to mention the sending off which certainly never helped us my mate said to me at work, for their third goal, how could we be so open at the back to let a player run half the length of the pitch and score unchallenged. I said to him because we wanted to win and we pushed up a man short and we still went forward, lets face it whats the difference between 2 and 3 against your still losing. Wenger is not used to buying Marquee players he buys cheap and turns a lot of them into marquee players thats the way he does thing. People believe he is letting us down that his stuborn and he dither’s its just not he’s way. He has been with us for a long time why do we question everything he does or doesn’t do he is the manager he decides whats best for us he wont buckle under pressure he will go his own way. I understand that we are players short i understand why he’s offloaded the deadwood, he knows he’s short and he knows he has to get players but i dont think he will go crazy, he is going to have a bumpy old time and there will be crys of sacking him i just hope nobody listens.

Re Ox, quite a few people on here thought that this was his season, this was the one that he made his name and presence felt. He runs at defenders like no other player in our side, he causes problems for the oppositions defence.
Yet now he is injured, he’s not considered to be a big miss..

Rico, those who say that the OX was going to be just a sub this year are very wide off the mark.
This was going to be OX’s year.
He would have given us what Bale was giving the spuddies last two years. As you said……..he runs at defenders like no other players in our side.
Makes me smile when i hear people talk about Wengers Wage. 6 or 7 mill a year is quite a small sum when you are making your company 10 times that, after all when the banks are run at a loss and we bail them out and then the top man gets a golden handshake of multi millions we accept that we may have a little moan but at least Wenger has made profit that benefits the club.
Lets face it whoever is injured will be a miss, but hopefully i will get to see our new man Sanogo seeing how we are that desperate.

That’s my view too Devil, he is a very dangerous player in the final 3rd, his drives into the penalty area cause all sorts of problems and he’s always very direct.
Ok, if he learned to keep his head up so that he could see where he’s running would be a huge advantage but he’s still very young.

Aaron is only doing what i always said he would, so i am just rapt for the kid after what he has been through, and i mean by the fans moreso than the injury.
