Three swift deals for Arsenal?

Morning all.

Two quite entertaining fixtures played out yesterday at the Euros. The first saw Spain went 3-1 up against Croatia and looked like the next round was a certainty for them but a spirited fight back from Modric and his teammates brought the scores level so extra time was needed. Spain ended up going through 5-3. Like Portugal the night before, the Spanish players went to ground far too easily and invariably, the referee fell for their antics. Morata should be ashamed of himself this morning.

The second game of the day resulted in France going out at the hands of the Swiss. The biggest upset of the tournament that’s for sure. France went 1-0 behind before Benzema scored twice and Pogba scored a cracker to make it 3-1. Switzeland, like Croatia, fought back hard to make it 3-3 in regular time. Extra time came and went before penalties were required to decide the tie. When Mbappe’s spot kick was saved, I couldn’t help but laugh. The favourites were out and Granit Xhaka had played a big part in it. Roma fans will be excited.

Today is the big one for England as they take on the old enemy Germany once again. Will Gareth Southgate hand Bukayo Saka another start after his fine performance against the Czech Republic? I think he’d be foolish not too but I don’t think he will. Sweden take on Ukraine in the later game.

The transfer rumours stepped up a gear yesterday, or at least it seemed that way reading through the headlines on NewsNow and reports on social media.

Arsenal have made an official bid to Anderlecht for Albert Sambi Lokonga: €17.5m + add ons [potentially around €4m] Agreement still to be reached on future sale percentage as Anderlecht want 15%. Personal terms already agreed. (Fabrizio Romano – Twitter)

Nuno Tavares getting closer and closer. (Fabrizio Romano) A Portuguese newspaper also reports this story and goes as far to suggest a five year deal has been agreed with Arsenal.

Arsenal are reportedly considering a summer move for 22-year-old Turkish defender Mert Muldur as a possible full-back reinforcement. (The Athletic)

Lastly, William Saliba could be heading out on loan again but this time to a n English club in the Premier League or Championship. If true, I hope it’s a PL club, somewhere like Brentford or Brighton.

Just one more thing. Arsenal have rejected another Villa offer for ESR. Good, I hope they continue to do so all summer.

Keeping up with these Arsenal transfer rumours is exhausting….

See you in the comments.

Come on England. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

    Morning all.
Rico, just keep your head down and you’ll keep up.
Actually, it’s impossible to stay up to date with the rumours lol
ESR-tell them to cough up 120 million and we will consider it, then knock them back anyway!
Honestly, these 25-30 million offers for the kid are farcical.
His future is enormous, imo, and I’m sure most Arsenal fans would agree.

  2. Aussie Geoff says:

    Morning Rico and all
I can’t wait for all these matches to finish so we see who we sell and buy

  3. Wath says:

    Morning Rico,
Hope all you miserable lot are fit and well.
I am so looking forward to the 56 players we are selling and the 742 that we are buying and of course in the process spending in excess of 972million pounds on new players. Amazing for a club that’s skint.
After the great footie of yesterday am sure we’ll all be bored to tears watching “Gareth’s” England later………….. yawn………….

  4. Wath says:

Afternoon Scottie, you still pi**ing everyone off and annoying the neighbours lol, hope all well fella

  5. rico says:

I know Scott, it’s bonkers isn’t it. I’d just tell Villa to give up as he’s not for sale at any cost. Unless ESR pushes for a move of course, then stick at £100m price tag on him.

  6. rico says:

Morning Geoff, I get where you’re coming from.

Morning Wath, don’t tell me, the search party I despatched last summer has finally found you? 😆

  7. ScottfromOz says:

    I’m still kicking, Wath hahaha
Rico, there aren’t many players in world football I’d swap ESR for right now.
He’s got everything going for him.

  8. Gunnerpete says:

AFC should state that they would only lsten to a straight swap with Grealish for ESR and even then with a buy back clause if Villa go down. Why it takes so long nowadays to complete deals is a mystery to me. I suspect its all down to greedy agents. I would love to see them kicked out altogether or regulated. As a Gunner of many many years, I would love to see, just once, AFC shock the football world and outbid some giant spenders. White, Barella, Coman, Harling would gurantee the title in my opinion.

  9. Wath says:

All search parties were sent on an 18 month sabbatical called Covid holiday. I saved my details Rico, stupid technology lol
So, have we bought anyone yet and more importantly is Kev still wearing his lumo green spandex strides?

  10. ScottfromOz says:

Pete, I wouldn’t make that swap as I reckon there is more upside to ESR, but I’m with you on agents and banning the bastards lol

  11. Wath says:

Grealish, Matty Cash and 100 million and only then can they have ESR..!
250million Rico, yeh well IF and that’s like ‘IF’ that shower of shit down the road ever win the league again…… IF it’s true the question then would be where is that 250 million coming from as no way are the yanks putting it in from their own pockets so that then means its yet more debt again the club..!

  12. rico says:

I don’t believe it in any case Wath. I’m sure Arsenal will spend money, but increasing further debt would be stupid imo, in any case, FFP, or some version of it is still around.

  13. rico says:

Sky Sports News can confirm Patrick Vieira has agreed to become the new Crystal Palace manager.

Nothing is signed yet and this is the third manager in three weeks where terms have been agreed, but club expect this deal to go through.

The Crystal Palace board hoped Lucien Favre would change his mind over the weekend, but moved to Vieira shortly after. The club have insisted a manager must be in place by next Monday when the players return to pre-season training.

  14. Devilgunner says:

W W Wwwwww Whaaaatt??? Wath is here?

I just pinched myself. Thought I was still sleeping

    Hello Wath.

  15. ScottfromOz says:

Devil, check the transfer rumours we are discussing.
If they include Higuain and Kalou, you’ve logged in to an old daily post.
Wath is old news as well hahahahaha

  16. Devilgunner says:

yes just finished reading the post now.

but I added a bit…..that he will end up playing on the left wing….he is technical and skillful just like a Latin player.

Scott, I checked the post date and transfer rumours.

but also went to google to check Human Hibernation

  17. Wath says:

Scott, did you just call me old….. cheeky f’ker…!
    Hope you well Dev.
I’m wondering when we buying De Boers and Kluivert…! They’ll be awesome with Kalou and Higuain..!

  18. Devilgunner says:

Thomas Partey will get the Number 5 shirt.

I just hope the number 10 goes to ESR. It suits him. Just like Saka and number 7 fit in nicely. I wonder if Martinelli gets the number 11 now.

  19. Wath says:

As long as our number 3 given the Captains armband that’s all that matters with number Dev lol

  20. ScottfromOz says:

To be fair Wath, I thought you’d be asleep by this late stage-never expected you to see that comment hahahaha

  21. Aussie Geoff says:

Just been watching highlights, I still don’t understand why the referees don’t stop the match to remove bottles thrown on field

  22. Joaquim Moreira says:

Nuno Tavares: it can evolve because it has a margin of progression, but, in my opinion, it is inferior to Nelson Semedo – wolwes

  23. Devilgunner says:

Not a bad game by England.

Saka was not his usual self. Rudiger stuck to him like glue and Saka could not run at them with the ball. STerling is so selfish and Kane was absent till he scored. Sterling only began playing for the team when Grealish came on. Saka did not have a midfelder to supply him with balls in space so he could run behind defenders. And the Germans swamped him every time he got the ball.

Germany were so poor. They need to let go of a good number of their players and replace them with new ones.

  24. Devilgunner says:

what we saw today, that is, how the Germans treated Saka, is what we should expect the coming season. Players will stick to Saka like glue, maybe even foul him over and over again. They will swamp him and cut out his supply lines. We have to remember that Saka is still learning so we should expect that there will be dips in form now and then. Obviously he will be a year older thus having more experience.

International football is a lot different to EPL. Many fouls in the EPL go unpunished however on the international level one rarely finds the thugs whose aim will be to injure or cripple or put out of the game someone. Because they will soon find themselves a player less.

Today its a well done England.

  25. rico says:

Other teams were doing that last season Devil, they do the same to Pepe. Im hoping that the officiating here at the Euros, which imo, has been pretty good overall as has the use of VAR, will see an improvement in England. There’s certainly plenty of room for improvement.

  26. Devilgunner says:

They don’t have agendas on the international level Rico. In the EPL Arsenal players rarely get a fair crack. Some decisions taken last season left everyone open mouthed. Well, except those who wanted that decision

  27. rico says:

I bet they do Devil, take last night and the Portugal game, how many times did they have Spain get away with diving?

The difference imo is, the number of games involved. VAR though has been good I think.

  28. potter says:

I was being deprecating to myself for posting something that you had already posted
In 1900 the Boer war a town of Mafeking was held by the Boers and beseiged starving the incumbents . After a lengthly battle Mafeking was relieved . Famously the press called it the relief of Mafeking and was a common retort to someone who told you something you had already heard.

  29. potter says:

Are Riley and co being taught a lesson on how to use VAR ? We’ve seen goals chalked off for less than that

  30. ScottfromOz says:

Potter, just remember, it’s to be used to overturn obvious errors.
That’s why the spirit level, the abacus, Hawkeye, a straight edge and a tape measure are used so when it’s slowed down or even frozen………..oh who am I kidding
, obvious errors, my arse lol
I know it’s been done to death but it’s always been the issue with VAR/video Ref as long as we’ve had it here in Oz.
It’s not the technology, but how it’s used that causes all the problems.
Any review should be looked at in normal Speed as that’s how the game is played.
No slow motion, no freeze frames (I’d make an exception for goal line technology on that one).
If the officials can’t decide the right call at normal speed, then any error won’t be an obvious one.
    Simple, i reckon.

  31. Cicero says:

Good morning all. Following Switzerland’s advance to the quarter finals, Xhaka has put himself in the shop window, Juventus are now competing with Roma for his signature. Hopefully that will mean a higher fee for Arsenal.

    Let the auction commence. 😉

  32. Cicero says:

ESR has a verbal agreement to sign a new contract at Arsenal according to the Express. I sincerely hope that’s true.

According to the Sheffield Star, we will make an official bid for Sheffield United ‘keeper Aaron Ramsdale when he returns home from the England Euros squad.

  33. ScottfromOz says:

    Morning all.
Cicero, I think he will be a hit in Italy, and the stint in England will have helped him, imo.
Wouldn’t it be nice having one of our players the target of a bidding war?

  34. Devilgunner says:

    Good Morning Rico and all

Juventus in for Xhaka?? that would be great. Maybe a bidding war would see either of Juventus and Roma paying the fee required to bring in TAvares and Sambi Lokonga?? Now that would be awesome. And his wages split between the two as well.

Smart piece of business if it were true.

I just hope that PSG throw their hat in the ring as well……with an offer which blows the other two out of the water.

  35. potter says:

With his pre tournament announcement that he wanted to leave has he been treating this tournament as his shop window ?
Which begs the question of how long has he been cruising leading up to it .?

  36. Aussie Geoff says:

Starting to look forward to seeing Arteta v,s Vieira if both have a successful season how good would that be for us.
Top team, top players and future coaches

  37. potter says:

Not from where I have been looking I am afraid . Many times he reminds me of Flamini , he points a lot and seems to blame others , gives the impression that he is doing things but often players pass him by . If it’s too much effort he waves the responsibility to others .
Whilst I see a competent player he should not be the fulcrum of the team .
And his pace makes him a yellow card magnet , ” sorry ref I got there as quick as I could “

  38. ScottfromOz says:

Potter, he lacks a yard or two of pace and yes, that makes things damn hard for him in the PL but I’d never, ever question his effort.

  39. rico says:

    Morning Devil, all.

    Juventus interested in Xhaka? Good.

I’m in the Potter camp which won’t surprise him, Xhaka is decent but he’s slow and a liability because of it. Has the odd really good performance and yes, he’s better alongside Partey, but replacing him with someone with more pace and discipline can’t come quick enough for me.

  40. Adam says:

Morning Rico. Purely from what I read and hear I can’t see this Tavares deal as being particularly advantageous. Even Portuguese commentators don’t seem to believe that he’s ready. And we know how much pressure will fall upon him if he finds himself in the first team.
He might fit the bill age-wise but with Tierney’s injury record perhaps LB might be best covered with a bit of experience.

  41. potter says:

I just think that there are occasions where he lets the game drift by. I think that mentally he switches off and that’s when his late reaction gets him into trouble.

  42. allezkev says:

In general it looks as if England are taking a conservative system to the Euros, I really enjoyed the tactics of Southgate even if I was critical of him for being too negative as the competition kicked off, but I appreciate his approach now and the players seem to as well.

The Germans always play the percentages, cut out the risks and wait for their opponents and particularly us to make a mistake and we normally do, but not yesterday. It was as if England turned it on its head and we had Germany missing their big chances and England striking from what seemed innocuous situations. It’s a nice habit to have and the Germans have previously built their reputation on it and now England have it…

  43. rico says:

Morning Adam, I guess that means Saka will have to fill in. I thought we’d have gone for more experience but perhaps with only the League fixtures to worry about, Arteta is hoping Tierney’s body will cope.

  44. allezkev says:

Yeah, on the face of it Adam I’d rather see Arsenal try and sign a young English left back if they want to take a punt on untried potential, there must be a few options in the Championship?

Portugal isn’t a market where Arsenal have profited from in the past, I can only think of Boa Morte and he didn’t set the world alight, so maybe we should focus on the markets we find more reliable like France, Brazil, Spain perhaps?

  45. Aussie Geoff says:

Adam don’t forget we brought a goal keeper last year who was not rated by his own country’s reporter’s

Scott I read somewhere awhile ago that Tierney did suggest another player but the club didn’t listen to him

  46. potter says:

The north London club have been paying 90 per cent of the attacking midfielder’s salary over the last few months as part of the deal.

And it has been claimed that the last payment was submitted into Ozil’s account today from Arsenal..

That’s one saga over , now for Willian , Guendouzi , Kolasinac and no doubt a few others.

  47. Cicero says:

So Vieira to Crystal Palace, I wonder how that fits in his support of Ek’s bid to buy out the Kronkes?

  48. potter says:

Doesn’t fit in at all , He made his bid with Vieira , Henry and Bergkamp .
Vieira is off to Palace , Henry has gone back to Belgium albeit for the tournament , that only leaves Dennis . I would say that Kroenke ‘s comment about not needing the money has put the bid to bed.
Incidentally Kroenke has been named the 5 th largest land owner in America with 1.4 million acres . Guess he don’t need it after all.

  49. ScottfromOz says:

No matter how much the bid/bids, if it isn’t for sale, it isn’t for sale.
Let’s hope that changes or Stan’s attitude to the club does, so a positive might come from this.

  50. Aussie Geoff says:

Scott you dreaming again I’m guessing you have been locked up too long.
I’m enjoying freedom before our premier takes it off us and starts charging us fresh air tax

  51. Aussie Geoff says:

Know that Kroenke doesn’t have this dream of a super league any more he might change his mind to winning the premier league

  52. ScottfromOz says:

Geoff, these fukkwit politicians enjoy locking us down!
    There is no other explanation.
    It’s beyond a joke now.

  53. Cicero says:

German Chancellor Merkle and French President Macron are to make a joint approach to UEFA complaining that as neither England nor Switzerland are members of the EEC, they are not entitled to all the goals they scored in their matches against Germany and France respectively. They want the goals scored to be reallocated in accordance with EEC directive 9874/ 45/7 subsection 1275. This will see Germany and France awarded sufficient goals to reverse the results of the two matches. Thus Germany and France will advance to the quarter finals and England and Switzerland will be eliminated.

  54. Cicero says:

    Breaking news!

In the fastest judgement ever, UEFA have rejected the request by Chancellor Merkle and President Macron to reallocate goals scored in the two matches between England vs Germany and Switzerland vs France in favour of Germany and France.
In a statement issued this afternoon, the UEFA Grand Council (UGC) made it clear that as members of the UGC and other UEFA VIPs keep their money in anonymous numbered accounts in Swiss Banks, they don’t want upset that particular apple cart. They also recognise that England would, if provoked, expose those accounts together with those of Chancellor Merkel and President Macron which are in the same banking system.
A spokesman, speaking on behalf of both Chancellor Merkle and President Macron, explained that the whole thing was merely a suggestion put forward by an unnamed press secretary, who has now entered a private sanatorium and is undergoing treatment for alcohol abuse…..the spokesman and press secretary also have numbered accounts in a Swiss bank.

  55. ScottfromOz says:

Rico, have you ever seen Lee and Wath in the same room?
    Dodgy dealings happening 🙂
    Hello Lee!!
    Hope all is well mate.

  56. Lee says:

    All good here Scott, thanks.

Hope you and the family are keeping well?

It really seems we mean business this transfer window…£50m on White and being heavily linked to Locatelli, who seems a real talent!

So it seems we are looking to finally strengthen the spine! Happy days.

  57. ScottfromOz says:

Lee,family is well, I’m still a cranky bastard but life is pretty good, All things considered 🙂
I reckon between us HH contributors, we’ve all pretty much known what’s been wrong with the squad, but then, we don’t have the pressure of finding players the club can afford, and hoping they can handle the English game.
I’m an unabashed Arteta fan and am confident he can build the squad we need to compete, and now is the time.
Imo, he’s been there long enough to know exactly what’s required so no excuses, we must compete from the start of the season, and I reckon we will.

  58. Lee says:

Morning Rico… my head scratcher is why we spent all that dough on Saliba and not use him, it looks like he’s not fancied by Arteta.

We had a zillion CB’s at the time it just seemed a strange buy…..

AMN looks like he’ll be in shit with club!

  59. potter says:

Flipping your car on the M25 at 6 A.M is not the best way to curry favour. However he’s not the first to do it and probably will not be the last . It will be interesting to see how the club reacts.

  60. rico says:

Ditto Lee, Saliba is certainly a weird one. I wouldn’t be surprised to see him sold next summer when clubs have a bit more money to offer. Maybe Vieira will take him on loan at Palace.

  61. ScottfromOz says:

Lee, I want Saliba to get his chance, burn boy if his attitude is good and obviously we don’t know.
Rico, Wath appears, leaves, Lee appears-I don’t know about these two hahahahaha
Nah it’s great to see lads back.
Could be an omen for a great season ahead-they smell succeed in the air!!!

  62. rico says:

I don’t think Saliba did himself any favours by taking a verbal swipe at Arteta just after he went on loan last. I get the impression Arteta likes to keep things in-house which is how it should be imo.

You’ll just have to trust me Scott. Lol
