Three points bagged with ease……

This is how we lined up:

Szczesny, Sagna, Vermaelen, Djourou, Santos, Song, Arteta, Ramsey, Benayoun, Walcott, Van Persie.

Substitutes: Fabianski, Squillaci, Jenkinson, Rosicky, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Chamakh, Park.

Three minutes on the clock and Robin had our first chance but his shot was saved by Hennessey in the Wolves goal.

Then, with just eight minutes gone, Bassong made a challenge on Theo Walcott in the box, the referee didn’t hesitate to point to the spot, or to dish out a red card. Wolves were down to ten men and Robin stepped up to break his recent goal drought. 1-0

At this point on HH, devilgunner wrote:

‘Bassong wanted to repay the Swampies back for not playing him regularly. He needs the scum to be out of Europe so that he can play when the rats desert the sinking ship’. 🙂

Very soon after, Walcott doubled our lead – 2-0 and all was going pretty darn well.

Just before the half hour mark, Santos had a shot on goal but it went wide of the far post.

Mikel Arteta appeared to be the victim of a couple of hard challenges in the first half, the first was by Kevin Doyle, the second by Michael Kightly and a third, again committed by Doyle which earned him a booking. Doyle, despite having just been booked, gave away another free kick, this time for an unfair challenge on Santos. He really was pushing his luck.

Allezkev:

Doyle is gonna get himself sent-off if he isn’t careful. Typical ex-Reading player… :)

Half-time came and went…..

Ramsey had a tame shot on goal, which was easily blocked by Wolves and Robins long-range effort went flying over the bar on the fifty minute mark.

Next in the book for Wolves was Ronald Zubar for a tackle on Yossi Benayoun and shortly after Michael Kightly followed him after a foul on Santos.

Scott from Oz:

Wolves are losing it. We could be against 9 soon.

Kevin Doyle finally did something other than commit a foul, his shot though was saved by Szczesny.

Scott from Oz:

World class Szczesney…….pure brilliance. We are getting complacent.

Just before sixty-five minutes, Michael Kightly had a shot from just outside the area which went wide of the left-hand upright.

On sixty-eight minutes, Yossi settled any nerves with a shot from outside the penalty box, bottom left hand corner and 3-0.

On the seventy-five minute mark, Wenger made his first substitution, bringing on Oxlade-Chamberlain for Theo Walcott.

Ramsey had another shot on goal with about ten minutes left but again it was easily blocked and soon after, Sagna was replaced by Carl Jenkinson.

That was about it really, Wolves had three shots easily blocked by our defence/keeper and after four minutes of additional time, the referee blew for full time….

Great night, not too taxing on the legs and we are now five points clear of you know who.

Now let’s get ready for Wigan on Monday….

Have a good day, I’m not around all day so that should make it better… 😉

Morning guys,

Good win though i’d love to see us be more ruthless. United or City would’ve won the game 5 or 6-0. Since the game was over as a contest as soon as Bassong was sent off, it would’ve been good to give Ox some real minutes and let him run the Wolves defence into the ground.

Rico……Great night, not too taxing on the legs and we are now five points clear of you know who.

But it was one of those games where winning supporters were bored. OK, Sir AK may have said ….no bones broken, not tired legs and no cards. But we do need excitement. We needed some more goals. We hardly got out of the first gear and those endless passing between Song to Djourou to Song to TommyV to Song to Santos to Song to Sagna to Theo to Sagna to Theo to Sagna to Song to Santos to Song to TommyV to Song to AW……..ZZZZzzzzz.

I was getting bored and you realise that the players were playing for time and taking the piss when Sagna and Theo start passing to each other. Benny was not taking the piss and he was working his socks off.

There were two on loan players on the pitch….Benny and Bassong. Benny was working his socks off…..a real professional while Bassong was…..well a typical swampie. Wanted to get sent off.

Good report Rico. And thanks for including our comments in it.

BDW……how about telling AW to get us Hennessey……..he was a solid keeper yesterday.

Tbh honest at one moment I thought that Song was going to pass to himself. Honest 😉

Romford……..I have been saying the same thing for months. Manure would not have stoppped at 3……remember them hammering Ipswich 9-0???

No way RE Hennessey. That guy is a mistake waiting to happen. It’s ok looking like a decent keeper when you’re always being asked to make point blank saves but his concentration leaves a lot to be desired. His handling is awful too.

So who do you think can AW get as replacement for Almunia, Fabianski and Mannone???

I think that Jaaskelainen would be the one since he is free, he is nearing the end of his career and he would not kill Chesney and Martinez.

I do like goals also……and remember, at the end of the day did Manure stop at 4 or 5 when beating us???? No they continued to dish it out till they got 8. So the same goes for us…..dish it out so you can take it on the chin when you are on the end of a hiding since others will not stop.

Morning all nice one Ricolicious, Yep you guys are right i was bored as well but 3 pts is what we went for and 3 pts is what we gained. I was impressed with Kightley he worked hard and never stopped trying he was a bit of a nuesance and showed a lot of heart i like that in a player. I am not a great admirer of this 2 punnishments for one offence rule, in my eyes only one offence has been commited and in my Judgement a penalty is sufficient punnishment after all a defender is only trying to defend thats his job a forward diveing gets booked not sent off fairs fair afterall. but i’m happy with the three goals.

Before the game all we wanted was 3 points to stay in 3rd and qualify the win v City. Guess what we got it, so what are you whinging about? That we didn’t score more! Jesus there is no end to your bullshit. Also you mob must wank over each others comments that you put them in the article? Too funny and very embarrassing for your crap site, I came here to read what u tossers are complaintng about and I wasn’t shocked.
Shocked would be to read you supporting the team. I bet you wanted AW gone again after QPR. Oh and would the mancs have put 6 past wolves, when they lost to wigan 1-0? I think they got complacent cos it happens to every team.
Anyway I hope you don’t get an ulcer or some weird illness cos of being so unhappy with life, but I am probably too late. Oh well haha fools fancy putting comments in an article just written….
I also make no apologies for being such a wanker…..!

Hiya Ozzy….check your inbox.

Sent you an article on match fixing.

We are not complaining about the result. it was wonderful mate. But Sir SP and I are simply complaining that with all that endless passing we were bored. Ok, we did not have any broken bones, no yellow cards, we got three points, we scored 3 and dominated possession. Fair enough. But some of the passes were simply to allow time to run out. The players were barely out of the 1st gear. And for all the money they get I expect a professionality and entertainment.

Do not Get me wrong Ozzy. I am not complaining or whining simply to do so. Its just that I do not like being taken for a ride. As I said earlier….when Manure wanted to maul us….did they stop?? No they did not. So I expect and want my one pound of flesh. Others take it….so when I get the chance I do it.

Now,I’m wrapped up in beating Spurs home and finishing top 3,mainly due to HH members passion,so yes,I like a stylish win,but am loving wins either way.
9 out of 10,tells me we have a great side, and one that’s only going to get better.

devilgunner
devilgunner

Of course we will get better Ozzy. The side is already there. We just need competition for places and squad depth. We need 22 to 25 top performers be they senior players or kids like OX with promise.

You know mate……had we won by a cricket score it would give a signal to other teams to fear us. As it is I still do happen to think that we are still vulnerable to the odd lapse of concentration. And if you read yesterday’s comment you would have sensed that many of our bloggers here were twitching even when we were 2-0 up. Too many times have we thrown away good goal leads. Obviously this team is learning to concentrate at the back and be more solid……but past traumas do not go away easily.

I watched the game last night on a stream not a great one but good enough to gauge how we performed and that was admirable they played proffesionally but apart from the first 15 minutes we played consevatively after that. and secured the 3 pts. When Match choise came up on sky sports i have to hold my hand up and say that watching Arsenals game once was enough for me so chose the United Wiggan game to watch, seeing how they are our next opponents.Wiggan impressed me straight away where many teams wait for the utd onslaught Wiggan took it to them they harried and chased from the off and was first to the ball nearly every challenge they moved the ball well and was making viewing quite enjoyable, at corners they would surround the keeper and keep hin unsighted and on the first occasion they scored a good header which the linesman ruled out for harresing the keeper i felt that the referee was quite happy to give it but because of the lino’s flag rulled against this seemed to me that it was just another decision going for utd after all we have seen this trend more and more. Wiggan had an extra man in midfield through the way they set up and after half time Fergusnose decided to change his midfield to compensate, they did look a bit better after that but Wiggan had got the bit between the teeth by them and just wouldnt let utd rest finally wiggan got the breakthrough and a nice little move ended with a sweetly struck shot that rounded De gear Utd never got going at all and i just had the one shot all game. We have to make sure that this unballance does not happen to us we have to assume that wiggan will play the same tactics against us as it worked well with utd. to not be aware of this would be risky so did anybody else watch this game last night or was i the only turncoat. 🙂

Ferguson took all his players for a break to st Andrews forn a little break the nose said he didn’t play as he had no chance as there are a lot of bandits in his team. Liverpool director of football Damien Comolli leaves club
Liverpool director of football Damien Comolli has left the club by mutual consent, the Reds have announced.

Comolli was appointed by club co-owners John W. Henry and Tom Werner following their takeover of the club in September 2010.

He oversaw a major spending spree which included the signings of Andy Carroll for £35m and Luis Suarez for £22.7m.

Comolli said: “I am happy to move on from the club and go back to France for family reasons.”

LIVERPOOL’S 2011 BUYS

•Luis Suarez (£22.8m)
•Andy Carroll (£35m)
•Jordan Henderson (£16m)
•Charlie Adam (£8m)
•Stewart Downing (£20m)
•Doni (Free)
•Jose Enrique (£5m)
•Sebastian Coates (£6m)
•Craig Bellamy (Free)
•Total: £112.8m

He added: “I am grateful to have been given the opportunity to work at Liverpool. I wish the club all the best for the future.”

The announcement was made as Liverpool prepare for their FA Cup semi-final against Everton at Wembley on Saturday.

Mark Lawrenson
BBC Sport football expert “From the outside, Comolli was involved in all those deals involving Henderson, Downing, Carroll and Adam. I’m not really sure whether he has paid the price for Liverpool’s poor form. Only the football club and Kenny Dalglish can answer that. But people like Downing, Henderson and Adam have been, at best, average for Liverpool this year. So, yes, it may well be the case.”

Nicolas Anelka set for Shanghai Shenhua player-manager role
By Ben Smith
BBC Sport Nicolas Anelka is expected to be confirmed as player-manager of Shanghai Shenhua in the next 24 hours.

The ambitious Chinese Super League team have moved to replace boss Jean Tigana following a poor run of results.

The former Chelsea striker oversaw his first training session in Shanghai on Thursday.

Zhu Jun, the chief executive of Shanghai Shenhua, is hopeful Anelka’s contacts in the game will help him attract other big names to the club.

ANELKA’S CAREER
•1996-97: PSG
•1997-99: Arsenal (£0.5m)
•1999-00: Real Madrid (£22.3m)
•2000-02: PSG (£22m)
•2001-02: Liverpool (loan)
•2002-05: Man City (£12m)
•2005-06: Fenerbahce (£7m)
•2006-08: Bolton (£8m)
•2008-12: Chelsea (£15m)
•2012- Shanghai Shenhua

The 33-year-old has been allowed to bring in three coaches, including his assistant Baptiste Gentili.

Although the Chinese club moved to play down Tigana’s departure, it is understood Anelka will replace, rather than assist, his French compatriot once the former Fulham manager has agreed a severance package.

The appointment of Anelka, who signed a two-year deal with Shenhua in December, represents the player’s first move into coaching.

He will be tasked with arresting a slump in form that has left Shenhua in the bottom five of the Chinese league after five matches.

Shenhua have already signed Brazilian forwards Cleo and Muriqui in a bid to bolster their squad, while reports linking Chelsea striker Didier Drogba with a move to Shanghai are likely to gather momentum.

Drogba’s contract at Stamford Bridge expires next summer and talks over an extension are deadlocked.

The Ivory Coast forward has asked for a new two-year deal, but Chelsea are only willing to offer the 33-year-old an additional 12 months and no further meetings are planned.

Drogba has attracted interest from all over the world, including Los Angeles Galaxy and Anzhi Makhachkala, of Russia, but Shenhua are expected to be the first to make a formal approach.

Eggs-clusive: Cost saving on food is up the pecking order at Fulham’s training baseBy Laura Williamson

Fulham have bought 12 hens to live at their training ground to help cut costs.

This isn’t a yoke or a poultry effort but a real coop as the club attempts to save £5,000 a year on catering.

Martin Jol’s squad, including deep-laying centre forward Pavel Pogrebnyak, go through 90 eggs a week at their Motspur Park base in Surrey.

Arsenal are reported to be watching Fluminense’s Wellington Nem. The Premier League club are said to have had a representative in the estádio Engenhão for the Rio side’s 2-0 defeat at home to Boca Juniors in the Libertadores yesterday evening.
The 20-year-old left-footed midfielder is having a good season with Fluminense and has had a hand in half of his club’s goals in 2012. The player impressed during a loan spell at Figueirense last year and was recalled by Flu for this season. Nem is also part of Brazil’s 52-man preliminary squad for the London Olympics.
Arsenal’s scout was also said to be watching 19-year-old attacking midfielder, Manuel Lanzini, who is on loan at Flu from River Plate.

James Olley

12 April 2012

Yossi Benayoun today admitted he faces an uncertain future when his loan spell at Arsenal comes to an end this summer.

The 31-year-old scored in last night’s win at Wolves which moved Arsenal five points clear of fourth-placed Tottenham. But Benayoun was making only his seventh League appearance for the Gunners and is due to return to Chelsea on June 30.

He said: “I think it is difficult to speak now about the future. It is better to concentrate on the five weeks that are left and do my best for the club. I am fully committed to Arsenal and after we will see.

“After June 30, I am going back to Chelsea and then the club and I need to decide. Each one has to think what is best for them.

“I will not lie — I love Chelsea because I have a good relationship there. I didn’t play much because I had a big [Achilles] injury.

“I still have a lot of friends there I talk to every day. Of course I want them to do well but it is difficult.”

Arsene Wenger is unsure whether to extend Benayoun’s loan but the Israeli midfielder has urged the Arsenal manager to give him an extended run to show what he can do.

“When I came, I believed in myself that I could play more,” he added. “I knew there are a lot of quality players but I was ready.

“It is the job of the manager to decide who plays but because I was so patient and I always give 100 per cent it is now coming right for me.

“I came into the team and we beat Manchester City and last night we won and I scored. I really want to keep my place.”

Whether he figures in Arsenal’s run-in or not, Benayoun is backing the club to finish the season with a flourish and secure third place in the Premier League.

With Spurs engaged in an FA Cup semi-final against Chelsea this weekend, they can move further ahead when Wigan visit Emirates Stadium on Monday night.

He believes Arsenal can continue an excellent run which has seen them win nine of their last 10 League games. “Five points is a big gap but we have to keep playing well and win some games,” he said.

“Next we have Wigan. They beat Manchester United so that is a warning for everyone.

“It will not be an easy game and after there is a match against Chelsea which I can’t play in. There are still a few hard games but I am sure that we will finish in the top three.”

A win is a win is a win. Okay you can’t argue the result. That’s clear. But it ain’t complaining when you wish the team would hold it’s foot on the pedal. Slow pace doesn’t help progress, if there is distance to cover. We’re still catching up on being dominating week in week out, month after month. A bit tired of being told to take several annual dips in form as part of football culture.

A club of Arsenal’s standards should be able to rotate quality for quality. Injuries taken into the equation. And in our case to a large extend. A decent run of 9 out of 10 doesn’t wipe silly points lost from my slate.
