They're home with freebies! Jack Wilshere says time is running out for him to say he's young….

Morning all.

Two years ago today, we signed Ollie.....
Two years ago today, we signed Ollie…..

So the flops arrived home yesterday and were welcomed home by just four England fans according to the newspaper reports! Can you blame the lack of greeting after that dismal showing?

No, neither can I and if those England fans who went to Brazil to support the team had any sense, they’ll still be enjoying the sunshine, sea and maybe a bit of decent football…

But I guess the England players won’t be too upset, especially knowing that they can now go off on their own family holiday and all with a brand spanking new X-Box courtesy of a sponsorship deal involving XBox manufacturer Microsoft. Oh goodie!

Sarcasm aside, Jack Wilshere has spoken out about the future of not only himself but for all the younger players who have been involved in this World Cup:

It’s easy for me to stand here and say we’re young and we can go forward, but if you look at a team like Germany, they’ve got young players who are delivering now.

Time is running out for us to say we’re young. I’ll be 23 in January and that’s a good age for a footballer. Ross Barkley and Raheem Sterling are good young players.

Luke Shaw looked like he had played over a hundred games for his country. He was just natural. They showed in this tournament what they can do. But in the next tournament, we really have to deliver.

It’s a nice group of young players and hopefully we can stick together, learn from this, take all this disappointment and bottle it up. This is the worst feeling.

He’s right, it is time for England to start delivering but for now, it’s over. Between now and the Euros in 2016, surely Roy Hodgson has to move on with the younger players and leave the old has been’s at home….

Last night saw Bosnia batter Iran 3-1, both countries are now on their way home.

Argentina just edged out Nigeria 3-2 in what I thought was an entertaining game. Messi, well he’s something else isn’t he.

Argentina will now face Switzerland in the knock-out stages after they defeated Honduras 3-0.

Nigeria will face France in the next round. Giroud’s side could only manage a 0-0 draw with Ecuador and Antonio Valencia was sent off in that match for an awful challenge on Lucas Digne. Down to ten, Ecuador had little hope of getting the win they needed to progress.

Tonight see’s the group stage come to an end with the final four fixtures:

Portugal v Ghana
USA v Germany
Algeria v Russia
South Korea v Belgium

I’m looking forward to the Germany game….

Have a great day all, the sun is just starting to peep through the clouds here… Nice!

  1. Nickie says:

    Nice post Rico.

lol England players get xbox ones, the real winners get ps4s. I feel sorry for England.

Jacks’ right, he’s not a little kid anymore and really needed a good tournament. I’m bemused at how he barely got any game time in the games that meant something. He is the link between deep lying midfielder to attack, runs with the ball, provides good link up play and can make a killer pass.

Mainly upset for Lallana, he was ready. Barkley needs some growing up to do, the hype with him has worn off quickly

  2. rico says:

    Thanks Nickie.

Agree on Jack and Lallana, the game changed on Tuesday when Jack went off, back to hoof ball…

Barkley will grow up though surely, he’s very young still but he’s keen and it’s clear to see he’s going to be good.

  3. Wath says:

Dunno Lee, if he plays for a piss willy club am sure a few million will get them to sell to us…!

Rico, that pic alone will keep Adam away for weeks… he’s rushing to the loo as we speak to talk to the big telephone in the floor..!

  4. Nickie says:

Barkley is certainly a talent and if we wasn’t so packed in midfield I’d want Arsenal to be pushing for him this summer. Just felt he looked a bit out of place on the big stage. He’ll fit in the more experience he gets

  5. Wath says:

I thought he reminded me of Aussie dwarf Scott, what you think… maybe he just needed a really big Merv Hughes moustache and he’d be spot on…!

  6. luznic says:

Nice game yesterday, another great one again today with the German I hope, Morning Rico and gentlemen, yes Scott Messi is one of the dwarfs

  7. rico says:

I’d still love us to sign Barkley, especially as Rosicky, Flamini and Arteta are getting older and Diaby is… well, just Diaby!

  8. Nickie says:

Foolish clubs like Man U (27 mil for Felliani, 29 Herrera) who inflate the prices for mediocre talent

  9. rico says:

I realised and changed it Nickie.. 😉

Morning luznic. I wouldn’t be surprised to see Germany and USA draw, can’t think why though… lol

  10. luznic says:

Why would Herrera want to play for a team that doesn’t play in the UCL sure Athletic Bilbao feels bigger than manure

  11. tsgh says:

    Good read Rico

Imo Lampard was England’s best player during the last match.
The issue with us is that anytime 1 or 2 of our players played 1-2 combinations with each other the commentators acted like a bunch of hill billies who have seen civilization…

I may appear to be harsh on JW but he does talk the talk its about time he walks the walk… He has played close to 100 games for AFC its about time he steps up injury record or not…

Watching Morgan last night you could see he was head and shoulders above almost all our so called young players tactically.

In international football, its about tactical awareness and fight… if it was about talent/skills alone well Italy and German won’t have won as many trophies as they have betwwen them.

Then again I blame AW and Roy for not doing separate tactical work with some of our English players who are meant to be AFC’s future. then again maybe they do but…

Ox has also played over 50 games and I still…

One of teh so called pundits tried to compare Sterling with reus… dear oh dear?

putting things in perspective Gotze, Muller are not much older than Lallana…

  12. Wath says:

Must be all that roo meat you feed them Scott…. 😉

Barkley is good but way to much pressure on the fella from the media as usual…!

We have the core of a good crop of younger players lets hope they not ruined at international level by useless managers and coaches who don’t know their arses from their elbows

  13. tsgh says:

Bilbao make big dough; I would like one or 2 of their board members on AFC’s board… They held out for £35M for Martinez and held on to llorente without getting bullied…

  14. luznic says:

Ooh Rico I forgot footballer are just money grabbers, I can’t still understand why Sagna went to Man city I won’t miss him so much in an Arsenal shirt personally but Fab to Chelsea, just can’t understand why footballers don’t care to be villains

  15. Nickie says:

    Morning Ts

Goetze and Muller are younger than Lallana! lol Tbh I thought Lampard lost the ball too much, very shoddy in possession. I’m not being biased but I thought Wilshere was our best player vs Costa Rica.

I think Schniederlin is the man for us 100%

  16. tsgh says:

Wath… Capello failed with england. and he had managed and won trophies in Italy and RM..

Hodgson has managed Inter and relatively other top teams as well as national teams like Sweden and Switzerland. When Roy took over the Swiss job they had not appeared at the WC since 1996 and he did that and they did relatively well in the the 1994 World Cup, losing only one game during qualification, from a group that included Italy and the more fancied Portugal and Scotland.
He also took Fulham to their first ever UEFA cup finals…

Imho, we can’t keep changing managers and hope we win something in future…

It hurts me to say it but our players are purely over rated!

I remember Phil Thompson and co saying that RvP would struggle to dispose of Wooney at Yanited; well….??

Talking of Phil Pinochio… I was watching Al Jazeera sports Tv and those ex-pros say anything for a bit of air time and oil money. 😉

  17. Wath says:

Ts, Gotze is only 22 he’s four years younger than Lallana and Muller only 24…!

They way more technical but better schooled, as we’ve said for ages it’s not the players fault coaching isn’t good enough or that the FA are useless and that the media have a hissy fit soon as they have a new teen idol to put on the pedestal merely to knock down..!

  18. luznic says:

Ginge unfortunately Abuja is always calm, I am in Lagos and the bomblast has become something so common that its sad we don’t want to read about it, it doesn’t happen in my region though its safe here but I just feel so sad for my fellow countrymen and we need you guyz to keep talking about it always because with awareness from everyone in the world we can conquer our demons who are the politicians

  19. tsgh says:

Oh don’t worry Luznic… I also do my political blogging after HH. 😉

Its sad really.. but stay safe bro…

Back to football and Rico telling me off.. 😉

  20. tsgh says:

    True I said older Nickie..

What I was tryin to say tongue in cheek was there are players younger than our so called younger players playing for Ajaccio etc (no disrespect) with no UCL experience who are doing better in the world cup…

  21. luznic says:

ts the problem with the English team is not playing for bigger clubs or having talent, its putting too much money in the hands of kids and also over hyping them in the press, they become so big in their minds and the FA just sprouts nonsense like Dyke said about Wenger and these kids never gets blamed, lay the blame with the kids for once they are not good enough and they don’t put in extra shift to get better, they hardly play outside England because outside countries don’t believe you have talent and except for Lineker and Gaza others have failed playing outside England and some will say Mcmanaman tried but he is as average as Henderson, I hope your Ghanaian team win today they have got a good spirit and boy England should learn from their spirit and determination

  22. tsgh says:

I have been out voted on JW so I concede 😉

On the DM or box to box role… with Fernando the octopus gone Aw better deliver to us Goretzka or Ginter or Morgan or Medel or Gabi from Ath otherwise I will be done with defending him!

  23. Scott From Oz says:

Luznic, if the kids aren’t good enough, why not?
That’s the big question, in my eyes.
It’s not just a bad patch ATM, it’s been like that for a long time.

  24. tsgh says:

Luznic very true – A friend of mine was debating with me about JC being ready or not and that Ox should be ahead of him no matter what …

I pointed out to him that that is the issue with most British football fans… he tells me I only rely on stats but he was the first to show me the stats of JC over 2 years without bringing up Ox’s stats…

He is not considering how a young boy from Costa Rica will move half wave across teh world to a foriegn land and play for Betis and Olympiacos in greece different language and culture etc…

The same mate who does not watch Juve and use to bash Ramsey 2 years ago was trying to tell me Ramsey is now better than Vidal and Kroos based on stasts… lol

  25. tsgh says:

Exactly Scott since teh invention of colour Tv we have been poor.

The zionist like dyke will blame foriegners etc but come on…

  26. tsgh says:

Scott, Germany allegedly flopped by their high standards between 1998 and 2004… it did not take them long to come back even stronger albeit they have only been 3rd in both the WC and Euros since then but still…
It shows something imho… we have the talent on this Island; the issue is pride and lack of willingness to learn imho…

  27. Bt62 Gooner says:

Ts, i agree with you ref JW, plenty of talk and no consistent end product, time to step up JW. Also can’t wait for the day you stop defending AW,lol. Rico, enjoy the sunshine, morning all.

  28. tsgh says:

I will consider Ramsey will be as good as Vidal after another successful season… imo

He has it all; he is just on the projectile to world class whilst the likes of Vidal and possibly Kroos have maintained that level for at least 3 seasons…

AR16 has had 1.5 world class seasons thus far; I blame AW for not rotating enough otherwise he would have been the best tackler i the whole of Europe…

He is still top 5 considering he was out for 3 months…

  29. Scott From Oz says:

Ginge, I’m kidding….I’ve barely seen Vidal play, to be honest.
Kroos I know a little more of, and he’s a ripper.

  30. Scott From Oz says:

Oh and Ginge, I’m with you.
If Wenger does not fire up in this window, I will not dare attempt a defence.

  31. luznic says:

Scott why you ask because the FA just talk the talk and never walks it, the st George is for what? England don’t have much raw footballing talent but the few they have they don’t take care of them, imagine them saying Andros Townsend is better than Theo, why should sterling be starting in the world cup after just one season? the English case is complicated and they need to send people to Spain and the Netherlands to see how you breed talents, Wilshere will fade I can bet you because why would you play Henderson ahead of him because he played close to Gerard in Liverpool, if a player feels he is good enough and you dump him on the bench because of a robot like Henderson then you are killing his spirit, Dyke knows nothing to me and what I just said might be complicated but the word complication is what’s wrong with the English Fa and you won’t win the WC2022 stop kidding English people

  32. Scott From Oz says:

Luznic, I won’t go over old ground too much, but I will always be
    I’ve that any c
I try with a half decent football background not producing players needs to lack at their training systems from grassroots onwards.
Anyway, have a great day everyone.
    I’m off.

  33. tsgh says:

    Lol Bt

Scott, I always like and respect your honesty mate..

I come here to learn from the likes of Dev, Rico,Wath, Kt, Snap, Potter, kev and Syg on history and almost everyone who is a regular on here have a view on the game we all love so..

Like Agag watches more La liga than I do so i respect her views on players… she has been talking about Alexis before the WC and has always liked him..

Emma my fave scouser, well I suspect has a new partner so has stopped blogging.. she was my Ligue 1 expert with Snap :p

Micko is a different story though; he and Malaga gooner 😛

  34. Bt62 Gooner says:

Ts, Google, Evergrande Soccer School, you may find this interesting, perhaps you have already seen it.

  35. ktr7 says:

Good read rico.If you read more of that wilshere interview you will see that he said he is not sure if he’ll make the preseason training camp in New york.I would cut my holidays if i were him.he has no role in the team as it stands.he really needs to nail down a spot in the team.

  36. rogerbij says:

Last round tonight, looking forward to see if Ronaldo will turn up and show us his stuff! 4 Goals? Or bust?

  37. tsgh says:

Cheers Bt.. I have heard about it.. but personally I am not a fan of such institutions based on potential perverted adults taking charge of such players… not saying they are btw 😉

    Spot on Kt

  38. Nickie says:

    Cya Scott, take care.

Is that injury related Ktr? or is it cos the poor buggar hasn’t had a holiday lol

  39. luznic says:

Sky sports viewers players verdict, Wilshere rated fifth worst and Gerard rated worst, Luke shaw rated best and Sterling 3rd best Foster 2nd Best, Shaw played only one match how can he be the best??

  40. tsgh says:

Because Shaw runs with the ball.. Luznic

If Townsend was there he would be the best player at the tournament 😉 😀

  43. potter says:

Jack will never be able to play with Gerrard .Their styles are incompatible . Jack wants to play short and will give the ball to players and go for the return , whereas Gerrard hits hail mary long diagonals and cuts out 60% of Jack’s play . Lampard at least tries to keep possession and consequently when they play together Jack looks a better player . He still needlessly runs into cul de sacs though . Jack is more suited to a pass and move team which could develop if the manager picks a team to do that and ignores the clamour of opinions from ex players and pressmen that have lived their lives under Charlie Hughes’ influence.

  44. Nickie says:

lol good luck to him Ts. 2 kids at 22, dunno if I could, well actually I know I couldn’t handle that haha

  45. Nickie says:

    Bt,

That one of my hates for Jack. The constant falling down acting injured. nothing pees me off more

  46. rogerbij says:

Whoa tsgh, thanks for the wider news on the world! Was thinking for a moment that with a football being round and the world being round (apparently) well that was all there is! 😉

  47. potter says:

What ,! The world is round ? As a true died in the wool INGERLAND supporter I thought it was flat.

  48. ktr7 says:

Nickie jack is not injured as far as we know.he has also barely played 3 games since March when he got injured.he doesn’t need a holiday.he really needs to step it up now.

  49. tsgh says:

  50. tsgh says:

Potter, i am with you on the midfield combinations…

Its like when I said Pirlo and De Rossi won’t work for Italy….

  51. Nickie says:

I’d like Lovren, my only concern is that a lot of players seem to be leaving Southampton. If we were to get 1 from them it’d have to be Morgan. I can’t see Southampton bending over tbh, they seem to have a very firm stance with players leaving. We will either be told to get lost or priced out of a move for anyone.

  52. tsgh says:

We will probably going in asking if player x was available instead of saying we have £15M for player X lets talk…!

  53. tsgh says:

    Good one Lee..

Is that the same Ginger knob who looks slimmer and ‘blonder’ in the Daily Fail photo…? lmfao

The man who claims to have no respect for Aw begged Wenger for a selfie? ‘Headsgone’

  54. rico says:

Nickie, was just having a look back, sorry I missed your comment about Germany. yes and Ghana would need a big win too I think….

  55. Nickie says:

Ghana face a real uphill battle now, I think Muntari was already banned for this game but him and Boetang have been sent home for abusive language/actions towards staff during training

  56. tsgh says:

yep Nickie.. still Badu will come in and do well me think; his Serie A experience… frimpong should have gone. lol

My friend says adrian looks like a piece of wotsits. lmfao

  57. rico says:

Arsenal can confirm that 11 players will be leaving the club when their contracts officially expire on June 30.

Nicklas Bendtner and Ju Young Park come to the end of their contracts, while Kim Kallstrom and Emiliano Viviano’s loan spells are set to conclude.

As already communicated, Bacary Sagna, Lukasz Fabianski and Zak Ansah have completed permanent moves to Manchester City, Swansea City and Charlton Athletic respectively.

Meanwhile, academy players Chuks Aneke, Daniel Boateng, Zach Fagan and Leander Siemann also depart having reached the end of their current agreements.

Everyone at Arsenal would like to take this opportunity to thank all of these players for their contribution to the club, and to wish them well for the future.

  58. Micko says:

    Afternoon all,
Sorry Jack, but heard it all before ! Does anyone think england will be there or there abouts come 2016 !
He’s right about the next generation having to step up, the one thing that will give us is hunger, something we haven’t had for years.
We saw it in the holland / spain game last week, the dutch youngsters wanted it more, until then we’ll just keep getting rolled over tournament after tournament.

  59. rico says:

Not what I’d call him Kev…. lol

Phew, here’s Micko, I can stop watching the gloss now… 😉

  60. potter says:

Ktr the whole quote from Jack shows a commitment to get his fitness for the start of the season though.

I’m going to carry on training, do my bit, because I only played two games in the last three or four months. I will go back early. They are going away to New York and I’m not sure I’m going on that, but I will definitely still do my little bit. My fitness is on the way up and I don’t want to lose that.

  61. rico says:

Me neither Micko. Boateng was ‘meant’ to be the next best defender through the Academy wasn’t he? Clearly that’s not the case….

  62. potter says:

The Academies turn out has been poor for a long time , hopefully the new regime might be better at bringing players through. At the moment too many spend their time taking out of the system and we are not getting the pay back to make it worthwhile. We have been down this street before and concluded that if you give talented kids too much too soon they will stop learning and stop trying.

  63. Nickie says:

Our academy has been poor. Apparently Daniel Crowley is an exciting prospect which means he’ll end up playing for plymouth in 3 years

  64. Nickie says:

Is that 4 month from now because if it is he only misses 1.5 months of premier league and aren’t there internationals inbetween those premier league games?
how would you define football activity?

  65. Micko says:

That’s the thing rico, keep hearing how good they are yet seldom get to see them so don’t really miss them when they’re gone, it’s dog eat dog.

  66. BrainwashedKev says:

Uruguay are through to the knock-out stage and will probably beat Columbia, so job done by Chopper Suarez…

Yeah, when does the 4 month ban start?!!!!

    FIFA cop out….

  67. rico says:

Still think Chuks will have a good career Micko.. But apart from Lansbury, can’t say I miss any….

    Not even Merida…. lol

  68. rico says:

    · The player Luis Suárez is ordered to pay a fine in the amount of CHF 100,000.

The decision was notified to the player and the Uruguayan FA today

  72. BrainwashedKev says:

Btw Rico, that picture of Giroud you put on the post, do you reckon he could do with a dose of Senokot??? 😉

  73. BrainwashedKev says:

Interesting point that I read on another blog, suggested that Arsenal are holding-back on naming new signings until July 1st when the Puma deal kicks in…

What better way to begin a new shirt sponsorship than having two or three(or four or five) new signings in the clubs new shirts…

  74. rico says:

Someone on here suggested the same a few days ago Kev, you were probably looking at an A-Z of London 😉 😉

It does make sense though, until you bring Wenger into the equation…. lol

Still, as long as the 3 musketeers are working hard to get signings….

  75. tsgh says:

Shame about Conor… its amazing how injuries can rip through a young footballers career!

In the few games that he played for the seniors his leg peg was second to none… he liked to score long range crackers too…

    I wish him well…

Crawley is about 20 minutes from me I might take a peak at him if he becomes a regular…

I wonder what Rick will think about how Conor’s career has been?

  76. Lee says:

Vape man is fine, he’s just bored of all the itk wankers and media bollocks that is being spouted about Arsenal! Oh and he’s taken a huge delivery of crystal meth, he should be out and about by October I reckon!

  77. tsgh says:

imo…with LS07 the issue is not with the length of ban but the fact that he can still represent Uraguay whilst he wiggles around with the idea of appealing..

If it was a straight red he would have missed the next game…

I bet the bin-dippers will support his appeal with a loophole that prevents liverpool from getting punished for LS07’s crimes whilst with his national side…

  78. tsgh says:

Maybe Kev or Rick will back me but before Conor decided to represent Ireland he was rated higher than JW…
Even ahead of Randall who is another AW love child because he had a nice left foot…

  79. BrainwashedKev says:

I saw Hendersons debut and he did look skilful if a little one-paced…

    Injuries again…

  80. tsgh says:

Rico, I am not saying a red card is a better punishment.. I am just talking about him being able to play whilst he appeals…
The appeal process could take weeks me think whilst he still bangs in goals for Uraguay

In most justice systems you appeal whilst you are in jail…

  81. rico says:

But the longer his appeal takes, the date his ban starts is delayed and that is good for us in two ways.

1 – he misses more PL fixtures

2 – it’s less likely that he’ll move during this window which means if we really are after Sanchez, it may just make it easier to get him..

  82. tsgh says:

Kev- I saw him a few things in the reserves and I thought he could make it.. he was taller as well and had a good engine but you are right he lacked acceleration…

  83. Wavy says:

LS07 can see no football, play no football or even train with a football until the conclusion of his ban. Furthermore FIFA, bless them have banned him absolutely from playing any further part in Thai World Cup. The ban is with immediate effect and is not open to appeal. Bye bye To the fang gobbler.
    Chew on that you. B…..d.
However, the ban does not include or preclude a transfer during its course!
Roll up, roll up who will buy the toothsome chopper? Barca or RM? Bet your life one or the other will. No morality in football!
The man should be put in a dentists chair and have each one of his teeth extracted without anaesthetic. That ‘I’d learn ‘I’m!

Kev, ‘does your chewing gum lose it’s flavour on the bed post over night’ by Lonnie Donegan never got the credit it deserved.

Merts, 101st cap today, unlucky not to score in the build up to the goal, the germans look a very good out-fit.

  85. Micko says:

Sukky, you guys need to arrange a game with Ireland, you’ll look like world beaters.

rico, what have we told you about inviting Jehovah’s in for a cup of tea !

  86. Scott From Oz says:

    Morning all.
Suarez has copped a lot less than sensible people thought he SHOULD get, but a bit more than the cynics thought he WOULD get.
Brazil has plenty of sharks in the water….maybe he go for a swim 🙂

  87. Micko says:

Scott, didn’t he also get done for racism a couple of years back as well, 50k fine and a lengthy ban to boot, maybe we should give him the benifit of the doubt, he’s probably just mis-understood !

  88. Sukky says:

  92. Hell Raising Devil says:

    Good morning Lollipops and Smarties.

Just heard that we have just signed Suarez for £1.99c With add ons. If he bites a player in the first year they give us £1.50c back. If a bite occurs in the 2nd year we get 99c back.

So on essence if Suarez bites someone in the first year we get paid and if the incident occurs again in the 2nd we get paid as well.

Seems as if AW wants to make money on him as well seeing that if Suarez bites in both years we £1.50c+ .99c. That makes it £2.49c giving AW a healthy 25% profit over 2 years.

AW himself is Suarez personal trainer, putting him through his paces once a week putting Suarez in a shark tank. Rumour has it that when they saw Suarez the sharks began fidgeting and thrashing about.

  93. rico says:

I’d be ok if we signed him Devil, we were talking about him yesterday or the day before on here. I’m sure Newcastle would sell him, but Pardew would sting us…

  94. BrainwashedKev says:

I read that ManUre were gonna bid £30m for Vidal…

I suspect the dead hand of an Agent at work…
