The real reason Alex Song scored on Saturday.

Twenty three years ago last Thursday, our new blond in the camp, Alexander Dimitri Song Billong was born in Douala, Cameroon. He is the nephew of Rigobert Song who was to be a very influential figure in his life. He was the one who steered Alex towards football and gave him support during his early days.

He joined us aged 18yrs in 2005, Wenger having beaten Manchester United, Juventus, Lyon and Inter Milan to secure his signing.

Alex Song, which is a lot easier to spell, has had a tough time since signing for us, not within the club but from some who have watched him progress over the years. Not by me though I hasten to add πŸ™‚

But progress he has though and at a rate of knots in my opinion.Β It’s quite apparent that both he and Cesc are quite a ‘dynamic duo’ in the centre of our midfield and we need these two to stay fit and healthy for the whole season ahead. Wenger needs to pick the right games to rest them and make sure he does rest them. I know that’s an obvious statement but seeing Cesc back to his old self and Song so happy playing and playing so well, they are key to us.
If the team is going to win something then all our little units within the side have to work together and this one is working well, it has been for a while now.

Not only has Alex Song been strutting his stuff in the middle of the park, we saw him score his first goal this season against Bolton and what a goal it was too, a wonderful first touch followed by a nifty little jink over the goal keeper, pure class.

So what’s behind his sudden found ability to ‘score’??

Here he is celebrating in style, blonde locks and all…..

Well, I have done a lot of research and found out the answer…. It’s all in the hair cut and colour πŸ™‚

Whilst watching A Concert for the Heroes on Sunday it suddenly came to me. One of the first performers on stage was Welsh Singer/Legend Sir Tom Jones – born just over seventy years ago he can still strut his stuff and always remains a hit with the ladies, in fact he probably still ‘scores’ for fun too πŸ˜‰

Here he is, still looking good at 70yrs

So there you have it,Β  Uncle Rigobert made have had a massive influence on Alex Song’s early life but it sure seems Tom Jones is having a big effect on his life today….

Have a great day all, tomorrow will be back to being serious, I promise πŸ™‚

    Hi Pea, thanks…

Just a fun day away from the doom and gloom of yet another injury, this one obviously to Diaby. Cant believe Bolton are going to appeal the red card shown to Cahill, he will very likely get an extra game added on…

  2. rico says:

Wenger has a press conference at lunchtime today, should know the full extent of his injury then and know whether TV is back..

  3. T-buzz says:

    Morning fellow gooners.

Rico, that post was funny and well written

I dont know what Wenger’s going to do now that it seems that we end u with one or two injured players everytime we’ve played this season and they’re off for 2-6weeks! I saw the 1st half of the Stoke v Villa game and it was sooo physical a game I dont see us coming out injury free when we play Stoke this season.

I propose we gear up like the pic below when ever we play against the likes of Bolton, B’Burn, Chavs, Spurs

  5. rico says:

Oh, like the new kit T-buzz, just hope we don’t get the same ref as at the weekend, how he missed that tackle on Diaby, i’ll never know, and the constant fouling by Davies, he should have been off!

  6. T-buzz says:

If Daiveies wasnt a footballer, he’ll be an East-end gangster hitman or he’ll fit in nicely in UFC tournaments.

Catch ya later then, madam riCo!

Crap connection. πŸ™ Six from the first team are out this early (well, i count rambo amongst the ‘lost’)? Not good. πŸ™

But Cahill lost his appeal, I see. That’s good. πŸ™‚

Can’t wait to read the post, KT. πŸ™‚

Hola, Pea, and T-Buzz and Sr. WATH.

  24. Pea says:

WATH!! Very funny. I also like Top Gear.
TBuzz, they are seriously good books.

There could be a link – i do read them very fast!!

  25. agirlagunner says:

I haven’t read any of those. But I tend to read so little apart from Arsenal stuff these days. πŸ™

Beeeeep! WATH, for clarity, I wasn’t the fax tone girl. I’m guilty of a fair few dumbnesses but I was never that bad. πŸ™‚ Haha. Defensive. Howdy?

  26. agirlagunner says:

Is Silva still at Panathinaikos, KT? The stains deserve to be brought down a peg or two or an entire ladder. Loathsome lot!! 😑

  27. Pea says:

Hello Agag – hope you’re ok. Who do you think Song looks like? Rico should do a poll…

WATH – you are sooooo right!

  28. agirlagunner says:

See you, T-Buzz. Be safe. πŸ™‚

I don’t know anything about current events; I don’t read the papers unless I see airline sale banners, rico. Awful!

oh, and rico, you write a lot, and do it well. πŸ˜‰ I’ve started The Thousand Autumns of Jacob de Zoet. David Mitchell never ceases to amaze. πŸ™‚ I heart him.

  29. agirlagunner says:

Pea, I don’t know who Song resembles, but he the new ‘do is indefensibly disastrous! To think he looked so good at the WC with his new plaiting (Erick, I remember!).

  30. rico says:

agag, i left a comment which i have since deleted, i thought you said you wrote a lot πŸ˜‰

kind words, a lot yes, well, not convinced πŸ˜‰ πŸ˜‰ and moving on swiftly…..

current events agag, i much prefer saltanas πŸ™‚

  31. agirlagunner says:

Haha, rico. I had to process the last sentennce for ten seconds before I got the currant-sultanas reference. Haha, so slooow, I am.

So Lansbury is recovered? There at last, some good news. πŸ™‚ I don’t know how I feel about his proposed loan. With our track record for injuries, we just might need to have him available. πŸ™‚

  32. rico says:

I had hoped Lansbury would stay and get a few appearances, but he wants to go on loan after the spuddie game doesn’t he??

Strange, I thought he would stay and want to play in the next round πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

    Slow agag, never πŸ˜‰

  33. agirlagunner says:

I suppose, rico, he just wants to keep on playing. Little Jack’s spell at Bolton has obviously borne fruit. πŸ™‚ Still…

  34. W.A.T.H says:

Ladyfaxtone means there were four of you all tarred with the same brush good enough 4 me πŸ˜‰ Little miss rich girl has got you a new nic all these yrs lata lol

  35. agirlagunner says:

I regret having mentioned it now, WATH. πŸ˜‰ All the more because I have no ammo with which to shoot back. πŸ™ I call you GG Man, and you seem pleased. πŸ™‚

  36. W.A.T.H says:

Ok ok I’ll not call you it then seeing as you have no ammo to fire back………… I amaze myself sometimes how nice I am…!

  37. agirlagunner says:

Nah, she makes stuff like chefs do on the Food Network… Cider? really, rico? I thought you were a Stella lady?

“xxx sometimes how nice I am…!” “Sometimes” IS the operative word, WATH. πŸ˜‰ Haha.

  38. W.A.T.H says:

Oh your so hard done by I am “ALWAYS” nice to you πŸ˜‰
hence I won’t be calling you faxtonegirl anymore thoughtful considerate and nice, yes def amaze myself lol………..

Rico has been known to drink a pint of stella with a cider depth charge AGAG………… Bet you never knew that..!

A chef like off the food network, nope you have her confused with me πŸ˜€

  39. agirlagunner says:

A cider depth charge? Haha. How teenybopper. πŸ™‚

To be fair, you’re almost always nice. (You weren’t nice to the Spuddie on AR; but then again, why should anyone be?)

You cook, too? I’m sure I can fry a sunny side-up– if someone held a gun to my head, that is. πŸ˜‰

  40. W.A.T.H says:

Well as you say I am hardly likely to be nice to anyone from the dark side and hell will freeze over before i am ever nice to one of em………. πŸ˜‰

Yep cook and drink πŸ™‚ no not like Floyd. . . . . . A sunny side up am sure even you could manage that or must I call u friedeggcockupgirl instead of faxtonegirl…? lol ok sorry I’ll behave, yeh right on 2nd thoughts…………. πŸ˜‰

  41. agirlagunner says:

    😯

You’re bad. And I think I could live with faxtone girl, WATH. Compared to that other name, faxtone girl sounds good. πŸ˜‰
