Szczesny's career on the slide! Ki, N'Koulou, Kouyate & Javi all linked….

Morning Gooners,

Not too much real news around this morning, so it’s the gossip page on here today.

Little bit of good news which broke yesterday to shock us all and that of course was Santi Cazorla officially becoming an Arsenal player.

What a fantastic addition he is to this current squad.

He is right with his comments too, he is at the perfect age to make a move, certainly the perfect age to join us and thanks to Sir Bobby and Cesc Fabregas for reassuring him that Arsenal Football Club really is a good place to be.

There’s not really a lot more to be said about him is there, we have done the ‘what can we expect from him’, just glad it is finally done and dusted and Arsene Wenger can move onto the next signing fast.

Sunday can’t come quick enough for me, what a treat we have in-store, Podolski, Giroud and Cazorla should all make their first appearance in the red and white of Arsenal.

Here they all are in Germany and just what is going though the mind of our young Pole??

Go on Ches, you know you want to……

You can see it can’t you, everyone else in the squad is taking the steps but no, our young keeper looks as if he wants to do what we all did years ago and take the slide down the handrail. What a kid he is at heart eh, but bearing in mind his freak wrist breaking injury, maybe he should be a tad more careful. Those rails can be slippery… 😉

This name popped up yesterday – Francisco Javier “Javi” García Fernándezborn 8 February 1987 in Mula, Murcia in Spain.

Apparently Murcia is a lovely place to have a holiday home if you can afford it.

I digress, Garcia is another one of those central defensive midfielders who can if needed, play at centre back and according to Arsenal blog caughtoffside, we are readying a bid for the big guy.

Whether there is any substance to this piece of news or not I don’t know but another link to a player from another Spanish club may just suggest it has a bit of truth to it….

Or then again, it could all be just another M’Vila/Capoue smokescreen….

Another linked to us this morning in a ‘Daily Mail Exclusive’ is Korean and Celtic midfielder Ki Sung-Yeung. Apparently we were impressed by him whilst allegedly scouting Victor Wanyama and that interest had ‘hotted up’ after watching his performances during the Olympic Games. Ki is described as playing in a similar style to Steven Gerrard which can’t be a bad thing, love or hate the Liverpool man, take the naughty side to his game away and he’s a top class player.

The Ajax’s Gregory van der Wiel stories rumble on but two new name pop up in Marseille’s Nicolas N’Koulou and Senegal’s Cheikhou Kouyate.

Nicolas N’Koulou is another defender but he only signed for Marseille last summer so I can’t see there being much truth in this story.

Kouyate is a central defender who can also play defensive midfielder. He’s 22 years old and had a really good season for Anderlecht, well according the experts.

All of these rumours are of course sports journalists own ideas, some though may just have been fed a snippet from some they know within the club, who knows but the interesting bit about all of them in my own view is all are defensive players, either in midfield or at the back which has to be good news.

All linked are Internationals too and despite them being in their early twenties, they have experience. Marseille, Anderlecht, Celtic, Ajax are all big clubs within their own league.

Come on Arsene, enough flair players now, let’s get the defensive side to our game finally sorted out, then we will really be showing a bit of intent as we head towards our new campaign…

What a good one it could be too….

That’s it for another day……

Morning Rico. I hope today is as good as yesterday.
Celtic’s Korean player? I can’t understand the logic with that, seeing that we already have Korea’s BEST player sitting in our reserves.
I’d like to think that the club has set a precedent and that the next player in will be Sahin followed by someone as equally good as whoe have already purchased.
Tip A. Start as you mean to go on.
    Tip B. Quality is key.

  2. rico says:

Hi Syg, I am just pleased we are linked to a few defensive players now, not fussed over Ki, and I doubt the story in any case..

  3. southyorkshiregunner says:

I think if Sahin comes and we get what Rico wants, Lee, then he’ll probably stay.

The bookies have him at 2/1 to stay.

  4. southyorkshiregunner says:

Melo was bought by Galatasaray. He spent last year on loan there after beating a Juve player up ….

  5. gunnerpete says:

At last a Gunner with sense. Whilst its great that Arsene has been given some long ovedue funds and is using them, I ,like many others, want Bouldie to have asay in who we get to change our defensive set up. I think it would be a positive sign if Djourou was sold along with Squillacci and Fabiansky. If and its always a big if with Arsene given his record over the past 6 years, we actually do buy a world class CB..then I would promote Kossy to DFM..he would be perfect in front of the defence with height, speed and passing ability he would be second to none. Now we have a real squad up front and in the middle lets clear out the rest of the failures and put the final touch in place.

  6. southyorkshiregunner says:

Pete – I’ve said it before. Take the squad numbers off the deadwood and tell them to inform their agents that they require another club.
This too shows INTENT. The intent that you aren’t going to be pissed about by mediocrity any more.
Be as ruthless as the players are themselves…. Well some of them.

What the club have just purchased (Podolski, Giroud, Cazorla) is sheer quality and great business.
    Keep it going.

  7. wardy says:

If sahin signs then i don’t think there will be any real significant additions. bringing in sahin would be the 4 signing so far. and what are the odds of wenger buying OVER 10 players in the space of 12 months??? Unless prominent players leave……
Another note, can someone please tell me the benefit of keeping song if barca’ interest is genuine??? i find him frustrating on a theo level……

  8. southyorkshiregunner says:

Hiya Wardy. Wenger knows we have fallen behind the other three clubs, and with Tottenham breathing down our necks and possessing an erudite young gun in AVB, we need to invest in quality whilst turfing out the tossers.
If Sahin comes … if …. then I still see a class defender and a class midfielder signed….

The Celtic links wouldn’t weaken us, but certainly wouldn’t improve us – They may generate money in East Africa and Korea by shirt sales, but it is the team winning that counts.

  9. rico says:

wardy – AW plans to sign two more players at least he says…

😆 Syg… I best be nice about him then …

  10. Micko says:

    Morning all,
Experience over youth, looks like the penny has finally dropped.
Wouldn’t worry too much about Szczesny Rico, he ain’t wearing his flip flops this time round.
Can’t help but notice RvP always seems to be training on his own these days, not another Arsenal player within a 100 metres of him, its like he’s been given the bum’s rush.

  11. rico says:

Morning Micko – good job eh ….

I think the press are only snapping him when he’s on his own, more naughtiness by them I suspect…

  12. Adam says:

    Rico and Lee. 🙂
Yes and almost. I slept until 9.30 this morning but still have to fit the shelves. I can’t see Song at Barcelona but, if they come up with the readies, then let him go, but buy a quality replacement. Shame about van Persie though. Rico. I am, as you suggest, very stiff this morning but have an article to finish so will soldier on regardless, pausing only to visit my chums at HH. Any news on Agag?

  13. rico says:

    Micko –

I know those mentioned this morning in the post are all pie in the sky, but even though they are young, they are not being plucked from a french 2nd league etc or are still wearing diapers 😉

Certainly makes a refreshing change, seems Niang is off the radar now too.

Like you say, penny finally dropped or the lack of ST sales as made Stan rule with a rod of iron 😉

  14. rico says:

😆 Adam, at least you slept well eh…

I’m happy, we are signing good players, that’s all it takes these days…

No news yet, If I get an email from agag, will let you all know…

  15. devilgunner says:

    Good Morning Fine Folk.

How are you all? Fine I hope.

All those players interesting Barca only mean one thing. ….. that AW is doing a fine damn good job on the tiki taka level. So in essence he is in the right track.

On to the Song situation now. Like all the other mercenaries Song is no different. Only Cesc was different since he went back to his home and roots. However, like RVP when he was injured, AFC stood by Song when he was absolute rubbish and the essence of Garbage. With him in the side AFC will not win since he is not disciplined. If you add a DM to the team, like perhaps Capoue or M’Vila what sense would it mean to have Song as well? Would any if you prefer Song over Arteta or a fully fit Jack? Hell for me even Coquelin should get the nod iver him.

The truth is that at the moment Song is the one we have. And we have to support him. But if it were for me, given the opportunity of having Capoue over Song, I would do it. And if they offered 25million for him I would bite their hands off. We can buy two players with that money and still have loose change for an Eisweld type signing.

  16. devilgunner says:

BDW Rico….I am 44 and still drive my wife crazy when I do like my son and slide down the stair rails. Or when we go to the supermarket and glide around on the trolley while the little prince is on another one.

We will try bumping cars when he is a little bit older.

  17. devilgunner says:

    rico says:
    August 8, 2012 at 10:21 am

If barca offer £15m I reckon AW would bite their hands off, I really do….

Did you really mean would bite or deep down you wanted to say….SHOULD bite??

    🙂

  18. Micko says:

I’m sure agag is fine, she said as much on Monday and the monsoons were well under way then.

Checked the Arsenal site and Vela is still listed, its all a bit fishy, I’m sure Real Sociedad paraded him in one of their shirts but have they coughed up the dough.

  19. allezkev says:

    Good Morning AKB’s.
Morning Rico. Today was a post of Sun proportions.
That is, writing something worth reading out of zilch.
    Now to catch up.

  20. bondex says:

what is it with the morons at Barcelona FC not like i mind song going but must they always have something to say about our players…

  21. southyorkshiregunner says:

    Me too Bondex.

No cut price signings from Académie de Sol Beni or some 15 year old prodigy robbed from a Catalan youth academy.
The real-deals. Top players at their prime.

6 points off Man Utd this season.

  22. Micko says:

You can’t blame them bondex, we do have a bad habit of bending over when they come sniffing around us.

  23. Canadian Gooner says:

    Good Morning,

Rico — “I know those mentioned this morning in the post are all pie in the sky”. I wouldn’t be so sure about that. Although some, possibly all, of those names could be the fanatasies of sports writers generating column inches; Arsene is an inveterate bargain hunter. We could have had some of them scouted or made informal inquiries to gauge their price. Whether he is truly interested, for the RIGHT PRICE of course, or it is just misdirection from his true targets we amy never know.

I think he is still interested in Niang, but definitely not at the price Caen are quoting. One of the Milan clubs is purported to be interested in him, but that could be his agent or Caen blowing smoke. He strikes me as one of those ‘players with potential’ / ‘one for the future’. A project that Arsene will procede with only if the price is right.

Unfortunately, other than Sahin, I think any further acquisitions will be dependent on his assesments from this weeks training camp and this Sunday’s game. Even then I fear, much to the fans’ discomfort, they will be eleventh hour deals on the last day of the transfer window. The market is still only moving at a trickle. Arsene is going to wait until the panic sets in and you can smell the fear of the other managers. He has made his major acquisitions, good ones too, in Podolskie, Giroud, and Cazorla; he can afford to wait.

I know a lot of fans want a new DM, FB, &/or CB but I think our first string is fine. We may need more depth in case of injuries. Surely, we can’t have another season like the last, with so many injuries. Koscielny was the only one of them to make it through unscathed.

If we have too many new first string players, its going to be difficult to incorporate them all for the start of the new season.

  24. Lee says:

Rumour from a manc in the office RvP has left training camp and is en route to sign for manure! What a cnut!

  25. Adam says:

If you believe the press half our team have already agreed personal terms with other clubs and Spurs are confident of signing Podolski and Cazorla.

  26. Adam says:

He’s always been after money Lee. As soon as he went on about it not being about money but ambition, we all knew it was.

  27. allezkev says:

Great post Rico, of Sun proportions.
That is, utilising info from another source, who copied it from someone else, who got it from the web, who heard it from a bloke down the pub, who read it on the Bleacher Report, who got it from Talk Rubbish, who lifted it from the Transfer Tavern, who quote Wanker Robson, who made it up.
    And so it goes!!!

  28. Scott from Oz says:

Song will be a star in Barca.
He will have ten mates taking care of his defensive duties.
He won’t have to put up with and crash tackling hitmen.
His hair goes better with red & blue than it does red & white.
The move ticks all the boxes.

  29. allezkev says:

I am currantly sitting outside Westminster Abbey, awaiting a ride, hopefully to Greenwich or Stratford, or Bal-ham, or anywhere…..

  30. TT says:

“Would 1% be an accurate assessment of how many media rumours come to fruition??”

    That’s way to optimistic Scott…

  31. rico says:

    Hi Canadian

You reckon we could still get Niang?

Lee, RvP left training to go off to the mancs 🙁 🙁

  32. JasonE17 says:

Hi Guys! Rico, regarding Nicolas N’Koulou only joining Marseille last year, it could be similar to the situation with Cazorla, in that Marseille are in financial trouble and as far as I understand it, need to sell some players. So there might be something there. I would like us getting Van Der Wiel though, classy player!

  33. Micko says:

Don’t believe that lee, if that was the case he wouldn’t have travelled with the squad in the first place, damn rumour mungering, that’s what it is.

  34. Canadian Gooner says:

Its a shame to see that Barcelona are trotting out their pimps choir to serenade our Song with their siren song. A great team, but a club with no class or ethics.

  35. Lee says:

Always have been class less pricks! I’m surprised that 70’s pornstar Carlost Poohole has put his two bob in…

  36. southyorkshiregunner says:

    Don’t worry about that CanadianG.
It will do us a favour if he goes. He bollockses up the teams overall dynamics.
So long as he’s replaced with a quality signing, we’ll improve no end.
By quality signing I don’t mean either of the duo from Celtic or another 17 year old ….
    INTENT

  37. southyorkshiregunner says:

I keep reading that Newcastle have made an enquiry for Toulalan and bid for Van Der Weil….
Both would walk to the Emirates if Wenger wanted them …

  38. Canadian Gooner says:

I son’t care whether Song goes or stays. Its Barcelona’s blatant tapping-up that irritates me. They truly have no shame.

My only worry is that, if he goes, we have another replacement player to integrate into our team. Change can be good, but too much change at once can cause major problems

  39. southyorkshiregunner says:

We needed a squad shake up CanadianG.
Six good players in about 8/9 deadwood out. Great stuff. It was never a major operation.
The other year Man City basically had a new team. They have won the league and are near-favourites for the Champions League.
    Great players will always integrate.

More on Van Persie – this time from Belgium

    http://www.hln.be/hln/nl/1301/Premier-League/article/detail/1482663/2012/08/08/Man-Utd-in-polepositie-om-miserabele-Van-Persie-over-te-nemen.dhtml

  40. allezkev says:

    Afternoon Gooners.

Hi Bondex, do you any inside track on the whereabouts of Stanley Goonster?

Anyone heard a rumour about M’Vila joining PSG..?!

  41. southyorkshiregunner says:

I’ve trawled through all the main European sports broadsheets and haven’t picked up on that one Kev. I know they are after the Brazilian Man Utd were targeting….

    Everything quiet on M’Vila

  42. Canadian Gooner says:

    SYG,

“Great players will always integrate.” I’m sure Chelski thought that of Torres and Liverfool thought that of ‘Handy Andy’ Carroll. About 85 million in transfer fees that, so far, have been an utter waste. I shudder to think how many million pounds per goal that was. Dropping RvP into a team like Blackburn would be just as wasteful. No balls to his feet — no goals. He’s not that great with his head.

  43. southyorkshiregunner says:

Torres was signed by a club that used the likes of Drogba and Anelka as forwards as part of its machine
    .
Torres is far more “Arsenal and Liverpool” than “Chelsea”, whereas Carroll is a lot more “Chelsea” than “Liverpool”
Suarez too, would fit into Arsenal’s style but Carroll would not.

That’s why Football is such a fantastic sport.

As Jimmy Greaves said … “It’s a funny old game.”

  44. rico says:

😆 Adam, don’t know why you would suggest such a thing, did you like the earlier link re the American rowers?

Not that the two are connected of course 😉

  45. Romford Pele (formerly HC) says:

I know right – these things can never flow to well, ther’s always a spanner in the works!

  46. allezkev says:

I did answer ya SYG, but this useless Samsung phone lost it.

My son told me about the M’Vila rumour this morning, but not where it came from.
My money is on CaughtOffside! 😉
    Thanks anyway.

  47. Adam says:

Rico. I must say that recently I am seeing a whole new side to you 🙂
So pleased it’s finally erected though. If Ihad to put it up again, I could do it a lot quicker. As the vicar said to the actress.

  48. EastSidePaul says:

Why on earth would Arsenal agree to sell RVP to man u?! Just let him rot in reserves for a year!

  49. Adam says:

This Song thing makes me chuckle. No other manager would have persevered with him so long. I remember when Merson, probably through a haze of something illicit, said that as a footballer, he was as much use as a fish up a tree. Wenger then, surprisingly, loaned him to the ghastly Pardew at Charlton. From there, with any other club, he would have slid down the rankings and ended up in either a lower league team here or in France or Turkey. But Wenger kept faith and is totally responsible for his career, as he has been with so many others. If Song now really does want to jump ship and join Barcelona then I say we should screw every penny we can out of those maggots with no hire purchase agreement this time, add some van Persie money and sit Javier Martinez in front of our CBs.

  50. Romford Pele (formerly HC) says:

I just don’t see this deal happening. RVP moving to United over City is a million times worse. He’ll be hated more than Nasri, Ade etc..

Plus his dad said he’d only go abroad if he is to leave.

  51. Adam says:

Lee. It’s my middle name. I jut get pissed off at these players and find myself wishing bad things for them which in itself irritates me as I am an easy going psychopath.

  52. Romford Pele (formerly HC) says:

Do you guys really think RVP would want to tarnish his reputation at the club to that extent?

His statement has already lowered him in the minds of some but he’d undo all the good work he’s done for the club by going to United. I’d personally never forgive him. I don’t think the board are that silly to sanction a deal. The fans would be right on their backs again, regardless of the recent business we’ve done.

  53. southyorkshiregunner says:

If Van Persie cannot be offloaded abroad even via some p/x deal,
let him run his contract down and see what happens….

We’d save around £3M+ in wages plus whatever signing on fee he’d command. Offset that from what United or City would pay whilst taking into consideration that within a couple of years he might be half the player he is or even retired through injury.

    1. He stays for the season we lose £7-10M from a transfer fee and we’d still have to replace him.
    2. He signs on for another 4 years, he’ll bleed us dry, as we will be paying for a player who is entering the twilight of his career and who may well get injured again
    3. If we are going to get shut, offload him to a club that isn’t a direct competitor.
or 4. P/X him to one of Europe’s top team and get something in return. Torres would fit as would snjeider

  54. southyorkshiregunner says:

… In a perfect fantasy football world it’s a pity we couldn’t offer him to the Basque country and get Martinez and their giant centre forward as part of the deal ….
…. I think they only play Spanish players in their side though …..???

  55. Romford Pele (formerly HC) says:

Yes SYG, Bilbao have limitations as they refuse to buy anyone who is not Basque. Admire them for their commitment but it’s going to harm them in the long run as they will never truly progress.

  56. southyorkshiregunner says:

I can’t think off the top of my head Pele, but didn’t an English player in recent times (80’s 90’s) sign for them?????

  57. allezkev says:

SYG, couldn’t agree with you more.

Added to all that is the bonus of not stregthening our competitors.

In a year RVP will be 30 and maybe slightly past his peak in terms of gaining the megabucks his agent desires, despite being a Bosman.

Who knows what his fitness will be like in 12 months?

  58. Lee says:

Adam, your 3:19, I wrote a piece wishing nasty things of RvP if joined one of the manc teams and deleted it….

  59. Romford Pele (formerly HC) says:

Really SYG? That’s the first i’m hearing of it. You may well be right though.

  60. southyorkshiregunner says:

They are just quoting what has already been said on the blogs, Lee.
I can’t see the sense in taking him to Germany to train, when he left Bendtner and Squillaci in the UK?
Mind games, brinkmanship, untruths …. It would be nice to know what’s going on ….
If he goes prepare for a massive signing !!!

  61. allezkev says:

Lee, I could only see that happening if ManUre paid the full asking price…
Maybe Robin should have a chat with Frank Stapleton, to see if it’s worth the grief..?

  62. Adam says:

I am sure we all think that we would act differently in van Persie’s shoes, but football has changed. I was talking about Usmanov’s involvement the other day. Some people think that you need to love the club if you are going to own it and that anybody who isn’t a massive supporter from birth is somehow unworthy. I was expressing the thought that perhaps this isn’t the case. To run business you probably need to be a businessman first and a fan second.

  63. Lee says:

Bloke here reckons that because manure lost out on mourra they’ll up theIR bid for RvP…..Strange isn’t it, I bet Robbing thought that there would be an orderly queue of top teams after him!!

  64. southyorkshiregunner says:

    Song + Van Persie = £40M

That would get Van Der Weil, M’Vila/Toulalan/Capoue + a good centre back.

Our free flowing football, any decent striker could hit 25 a season.

  65. Adam says:

It never ceases to amaze me how a reporter for a newspaper like The Independent can write an article based on a story in The Manchester Evening News and print it as if it is a fact. Whatever happened to good old journalism? Researching a story etc.

  66. Adam says:

I would be honoured if a carriage drawn by the Squill had delivered my shed Kev. I would have broken out my satin nose bag and filled it with the finest hay, then I would have harvested his droppings and spread it around the rose bush.

  67. rico says:

    😆 Adam, my better side I hope….

My dentist’s son is a gooner, told him about the RvP story and he’s gutted, but not as much as the Song to Barca one. he said that Song is his fav and his vision is simply awesome…

I felt the urge to slap him a few times around the face, only because I thought he must be feeling ill, and then reminded him of all the sloppy tackles, and the free kicks etc that he gives away…

    Eventually he saw sense… I think… 😉

  68. Adam says:

SYG. I can understand some of what these Spanish papers are saying, but would it be possible for you to include a brief synopsis when you post them so we can all keep up. Gracias amigo.

  69. rico says:

Come on you rotten lot, it’s about time we had a post that isn’t full of gossip, any volunteers

    😉

  70. Adam says:

I could write a post about Cheryl Cole’s hair extensions if that’s any good Rico. Or, my speciality subject, The Islington Ant Wars of the early 80’s.

  71. southyorkshiregunner says:

Ben Arfa reckons Newcastle could have a major say in the title race …. That’s true….
…Saying that if Southampton, who some of the bookies are giving 7500/1 for the title, take 6 points of Man City – so will they …..

  72. Micko says:

Haha lee, think ET is up next, one of the American girls just crashed and burned big time, landed right on her face, it had to hurt.

  73. rico says:

I thought about one on lamps Kev 🙂

I see another site had a little dig at the transfer gossip blogs today…

  74. allezkev says:

    We’ve hardly scratched the surface.

Stanley could a post on how to remove stains from your laundry.
Agag could do a post on economising.
Wath could do a post on the evils of alcohol.
SYG could do a post on whippets.

  75. southyorkshiregunner says:

Hope Cazorla follows suit. Just hope he don’t want to go home after a season !!!!!!!

    Would be nice

watch Wenger at the end of this one!

  76. allezkev says:

Talk Rubbish are getting a hard-on over the Manc Evening News.
Durham is into full- on gibberish mode.
“RVP could sign for ManUre today” blah blah blah….

  77. allezkev says:

SYG, my next-door neighbour worked on the Channel Tunnel.
It paid for his house, well half of it to be exact.

  78. southyorkshiregunner says:

I own the UK’s leading geotechnical & tunnelling magazine (more contractual than technical) based at Doncaster airport… and a gym & fight club over in Scunthorpe…. I also moonlight in the curry house two or three times a week

  79. rico says:

    I knew you’d get it Kev 😉

TS are numpties, let them drool, just wait until they have to report him crocked next season… He who laughs last…..

  80. Adam says:

Reyes dad sat right behind me at Highbury. He was a chain smoker who wore a huge leather belt with a massive gold buckle that said REYES. When Jose scored he used to hug me and rub his nicotine scented stubble into my face. I used to call him papa.

  81. southyorkshiregunner says:

I had a former workmate who died on the Channel Tunnel back in 1989. Tragic. He was a really nice guy.

  82. rico says:

That’s strange Adam, he sat behind me the last time I went to Highbury and his belt said Jose??

And it was a pipe he smoked….

  83. allezkev says:

    Rico…. Cheeky…. 😉

SYG, yeah my neighbour said it was not the safest of jobs, a lot of fatalities occurred, but that’s why the money was good.
Sorry to hear that about your old workmate.

  84. southyorkshiregunner says:

Gerry Rafferty was from Paisley near Glasgow…. I was down a shaft in Paisley in January 2010 …

  85. Adam says:

He must have had two belts Rico and he definitely smoked ciggies. I must have sat next to you then and not known it. was it you who kept rubbing your knee against mine? What stand was that in then?

  86. rico says:

    That’s me Kev 😉

The band one Adam and I’m small, my knees would have been rubbing your shins ….

  87. EastSidePaul says:

I’m guessing everyone has seen the shots taken from the training ground today with a present RVP….

  88. rico says:

They were from this morning weren’t they Esp, we will probably see some with RvP at Manchester Airport soon 😉

  89. EastSidePaul says:

I can’t understand why anyone from Arsenal would allow that! Make him sit out his contract. Time for Arsenal to put the boot down, it should have been done with Cesc.

  90. rico says:

Money Esp, money – lose £20 million??

No, take the money and re-invest, we are a bigger club than RvP…

Still think they might offer us a player as part of the deal, just pray it’s not Berbytoff – Chickpea or Wellbeck would be ok though….

  91. EastSidePaul says:

It really stinks, the club pays him for 7 years without any return, one good season and he thinks he is bigger than the club.
Thats what I call a real piece of crap.

As much as I hate chickpea, he does score a lot of goals, and would score even more at Arsenal, United wouldn’t give him up though.

  92. rico says:

It does Esp but that is the modern day footballer, all they care about is money…

Not sure the Mancs can afford to offer what AW wants so they’ll have to include a player and we all know AW won’t take any old rubbish. (imho)

It’s all down to how much they want RvP

  93. allezkev says:

Gotta say Paul, that Silvestre, imho, represents probably Wenger’s biggest blindspot.
Ferguson must have pissed himself when Arsenal signed him.
And dear old Arsene would never accept that he’d dropped a massive clanger.

  94. EastSidePaul says:

One thing that never sat right with me over that signing, was that he was over 30 and offered him a 2 year deal, where as he refused to give either Bergkamp or Pires more than a one year at a time deal?!!

  95. rico says:

Kev – AW won’t get caught like that again, fans are still waiting for the moment to start protesting for his sacking, that i am sure about.

Some are not even happy with who we have signed so far….

His hands may well have been tied for a while, now it’s looking like someone has finally cut those ties and he will want to leave when he chooses, not when fans drive him out.

In my own opinion, this his his summer of glory and he’s going to get it right…..

  96. Adam says:

Here Is The City is currently one of the worst sites on the Net. Really shockingly poor. Makes Bleacher look like Shakespeare.

  97. rico says:

Good evening Adam, it’s mighty fine thanks – sorry I got side tracked by Fido and her need for cuddles 🙂

  98. allezkev says:

What kind of title is that?
    It could be about anything…
    Shed erection for example?!
    Or chicken keeping?!
    Or tunnel excavation….?!
