Surprise inclusion and exclusion as Arsenal take on Huddersfield.

Morning all.

Social Media has spilled over and into Unai Emery’s press conference as he was asked about the critical comments surrounding our away form. Ironic really beating in mind that today we travel to Huddersfield, the only ground we won at in 2018 under Arsene Wenger. Win today and history will repeat itself because we’ve yet to win on the road in 2019. In the league that is. Emery basically said that he himself is his biggest critic and by working hard, things can improve. I love an optimist.

Anyway, we won’t get a better chance to break our 2019 duck today and if we can’t outsmart, outplay and beat the team firmly rooted to the bottom of the league then quite frankly, we really are in a mess. Utd despatched, oops, are dispatching Fulham as I type with ease and after making changes ahead of their Champions League fixture against PSG. We should be doing something similar at Huddersfield.

Mkhitaryan is back fit again having been out injured since December, AMN, Xhaka, Koscielny and Aubameyang are ok too apparently.

Huddersfield Town head coach Jan Siewert:

“As long as it’s mathematically possible to stay up, then everything is possible. The way we are working gives me every belief we can do it. “The most important thing for me is that there’s a lot of players in and around the box.

The more aggressive you defend, the more aggressive you attack. We have had a problem with scoring and I want that to change.”

BBC.

In other words, expect a defensive setup from the home team and robust tackling. Fine, what else would you expect really? Football is a physical game and as long as the robust tackles are fair, that’s how the game should be played. As for the defensive setup, that’s up to us to find a way around it.

Here’s the team:

Arsenal: Leno, Maitland-Niles, Koscielny, Mustafi, Monreal, Kolasinac, Torreira, Guendouzi, Mkhitaryan, Iwobi, Lacazette

Subs: Cech, Elneny, Lichtsteiner, Suarez, Mavropanos, Nketiah, Willock

No sign of Ozil yet again but Mkhitaryan is back.

Enjoy….

Morning Rico. I am old enough to remember the days when football was exciting.
It must be me. 😏

G’day to you all, I don’t see a lot of creativity in our line-up, come to think of it I don’t see much stability in defence. Looks to me like we may scrape a two one win.

Some clown of a journalist has named today’s game “The Herbert Chapman Derby” 😉

This whole Ozil situation is becoming farcical.

Afternoon all.

No Ozil. No reason given. No excuses if we lose. Imo.

I tire a little with little Dick’s picks! I think he’s out of order not picking our World Cup winner. In fact I believe he’s acting rather pathetically. If we don’t win today I think we may see a reaction from the fans. However, if there is something ailing Mesut then a little honesty would not come amiss. The whole affair seems shrouded in mystery and secrecy. It would be nice to know what it is all about!

Should win easily enough even without Auba. 2-0 to the Arsenal mind you the Terriers have got to be good for at least one goal, considering our sieve like defence! A draw would be a disgrace and a defeat would be a total embarrassment.

Azure skies here plus a vigorous wind.

Halftime 0 – 2. Iwobi and Lacazette. Steady now boys, remember you have to defend as well.

Ozil sick. Thanks Adam I’ll put it in my book of ‘good excuses’. Wenger was always very good at obsfacating the facts Auba too. Another high earner, has he just been sacrificed too, on the altar of no money? Mykatarian must be in the ‘shop window’ as must Lacazette, they are our other super value players. Next transfer window I hear the recruitment team have organised days scouting at Costcutter!

What is going on behind the scenes at the Arsenal?

Still we’re winning 2-0 must be some performance…….!

A win is a win, but on our opponents, I can’t remember seeing a side relegation bound so early in the season playing such decent quality football.
Their goal scoring is all that lets them down which is a shame because quite often we see sides who play boring, rugby style tactics staying up!!

I went 3 -1 and I blame it on Iwobi

Awfull !
We play very little!
After watching the game, anyone realizes why we concede goals every game and any team of technical level equal or higher gives us 4,5,6, …
It’s not just the defense. It’s the constant ball lose. Combinations that never work and unbalanced the entire team. A midfield that does not defend, without changes of pace and constantly accompanying the opponents players with their eyes.

Three away points and with a couple of exceptions, we were dreadful.
