I’m going to touch on this briefly as it’s been written and talked about since Tuesdays game but I worry about what appears to be a witch hunt against our Captain!

It started back in February 2007 when Arsenal faced Blackburn – a boring 0-0 result at The Emirates when Mark Hughes parked the usual 102 seater bus in front of the goal, he alleged that Cesc had a dig at him at full-time:

That should keep em out!!

He asked me if I had played for Barcelona said Hughes and when I said ‘yes’. He shook his head as if in disbelief. Then he said, ‘Well, that wasn’t Barcelona football’!

Next up was David Moyes in December 2007 – he suggested that Cesc must have ‘suffered a broken jaw or he would not have rolled around like he did’, that was after Mikel Arteta saw red for elbow in Cesc’s face during the game!

Then we had a dig at Cesc by one of our own, Hleb it was who suggested Cesc was a selfish player back in 2008.

Up next was ‘Mr Orange’, Phil Brown – after Cesc ran on to the pitch after a great win over the hoofers Hull City in March 2009, Brown alleged that Cesc had spat at the feet of his assistant manager!

More recently Wigan manager Roberto Martinez said ‘In England that is cheating, in South America, Spain, Italy, it is being clever. There was contact, but it was soft’. That was after the penalty against Wigan in January, a game we won 3-0!

One of the worst in my book was the Denilson comments in January about Cesc not being a leader, I didn’t like it then and I still don’t like what he said to this day. You do not say that kind of thing to the press or anyone outside the club!!

Then came the twitter comment from Anthony Pilkington, he suggested that two of the Huddersfield players had asked to swap shirts after the FA Cup win and Cesc told them to F**k Off – I don’t believe that happened for one minute and it wasn’t long before Pilkington made amends on twitter for his comment.

Finally, we have the Tuesday events – David Moyes again having this to say:

‘Cesc Fabregas should have been sent-off for his comments about the officials coming out of the tunnel. It was disgusting. I won’t be repeating it but maybe someone will for you’.

Following that was the player from Everton, who wished to remain un-named saying:

“As we were walking down the tunnel, Fabregas was shouting and screaming, ‘How much have you paid the ref?’ and ‘Everton are a bunch of cheats’.

Cesc’s reply was:

I have respect for all match officials. Their job is a very difficult one and their decisions are final. Yes, I was upset at half-time. So too were about 60,000 Arsenal supporters in the stadium. We were one-nil down to a goal which we felt was offside. Of course I am going to be upset.Players from both sides were saying things as we came off and this always happens in football.

I’m passionate about this club and like all the players want to win every single match, so many things are said in the heat of the moment.

Cesc Fabregas is passionate about our club, he’s a winner. How long can any human be pursued in such a way by others?

I’m sure he is no saint, who is in football but I don’t think he goes out with the intention to cheat or be cheated and yes, he was upset at half-time against Everton, wouldn’t you be??

What worries me though is how this will play on his mind? Will he think F**k you all, I’ll show you just how good we are and be spurred on by all this nastiness?

Or, will he just think it’s another good reason to leave the Premier League, England and more importantly, Arsenal…..

If this really is a witch hunt, then why aren’t Arsenal Football Club doing something about it?

On a lighter note to finish and following on from yesterday, I woke up a couple of times in the night, one was 23 minutes passed the hour, the other was 52 minutes passed the hour.. Good omen for our players wearing those numbers?

Not once though did the clock read 15 minutes passed, so no change there I guess 😉

Oh and I fibbed, it wasn’t brief at all 😉

Thats it for today, have a good one….
