Well, for this year at Wimbledon anyway.

I was so sure Rafael Nadal would win yesterday and was pretty disappointed when he didn’t. Wasn’t the best of games though, I still wonder today what would have happened if both players had been able to play at their highest level throughout the entire match?

Had they been able to, I am sure we would have seen five sets and a much higher quality of a match but I bet Djokovic didn’t give a hoot when he lifted that trophy……..

Yesterday, although the players are close in the rankings I think most would agree that Nadal was the favourite going into the game, despite Djokovic having already secured his number one status in the game.

The difference yesterday was the so called underdog played the big points better and he also had the bigger fight in him on the day.

Which brings me on to today’s post…

How many times last season were we beaten by the so called underdog??

Wenger signed Nasri for a pretty big price considering his age and experience but what has he really done for us apart for 4-5 months at the start of last season?

Now he wants out (so the papers say), to win trophies he says, well my answer to that is, perhaps if he showed more heart in the second half of the season, we may have..

Bendtner and Denilson have said things similar, about how they are winners and want to move on to win things. Both have been shocking this season when they have been given the chance…

Then look to Diaby, a player which divides fans, ok he’s not had the best of seasons but he’s not talking about leaving and maybe that is because he knows how he is played but wants to put that right. Vermaelen is another – jeez this guy is one of the feistiest and committed on the pitch we have, is he ready to quit? No is the answer, Sagna the same…

Then there is Little Jack and Ramsey, they know where it’s best and they are staying….

I know I have missed a few but I am sure you get my point, they don’t have it in them to fight for their place or to win and grind out results when matters or when we are udder the cosh.

What we need to make us stronger isn’t players with big price tags or so called star names, it’s about what they have inside them and if that means Arsene Wenger signs 5/6 players who cost £1 Million each but they fight for every last ball on the pitch every game, let nothing go past them and have that inner belief, we may just start winning things…

Ok, I know they won’t cost £1 Million but again, I think you get my point…..

That may mean we won’t see the wonderful football that so many suggest we play at times, I’m not so sure we play that well any more but, I’d rather see a great game of football with an Arsenal win than watch us keep possession, pass a million times only to lose that possession and with it the game, wouldn’t you?

What we need is palyers with heart, heart, guts and determination to win, as that is what wins trophies…

Which takes me back to yesterdays men’s final at Wimbledon.

Have a good day all….
