Sky Sports – One, maybe two Arsenal signings today.

Morning all.

I’m sure we all wanted Dembele in the door, even a season long loan would have added some excitement but he’s staying at Barcelona and that’s that. Disappointed? Yes of course but not surprised. Give it a year or two and perhaps we’ll be in a much better place and players like Dembele will have to think long and hard before turning us down. Who’s to say Dembele turned us down though as perhaps this story has been 100% bull***t from the beginning. All he’s done is put an end to the idle gossip.

The Sky Sports reporter at The Emirates has suggested Unia Emery wants one, maybe two players signed before 5pm and a central defender is expected to be one of them. It’s a bit late I know but we’re not the only club leaving it late but at least the bulk, most important signings have been done.

I reckon we are the best prepared as far as the squad goes as we’ve been for years. We have a strong looking midfield, exciting forwards and attacking players barring a winger and we have two goalkeepers challenging each other for the top spot rather than just two goalkeepers, period. Actually, we have three as Martinez will be pushing them both too.

I know we’ve said it before but the defence looks short in numbers but if by 5pm today that has been resolved, then they’ll be no complaints from me. Well, not yet. Lol

Ideally we’ll sign a winger too and in all honesty, if he’s quick and very good, I don’t care what his name or transfer fee is and if anyone can find a player like that! Sven Mislintat can and he probably already has IF Emery wants one.

Anyway, at 5pm it’ll all be over and we can look forward to the season ahead and watching something different unfold as Unai Emery executes his plan. At least we know he’ll have done his homework on the opposition long before kickoff and the players will be well prepared too. They’ll be none of this sitting down for ninety minutes either or kicking a water bottle when yet another goal has been conceded. No, I suspect if we concede one, Emery will be trying to do something to stop us conceding a second…

Enjoy DD guys, see you in the comments..

Morning Rico, good, upbeat post – let’s hope we’re all upbeat at 5pm? 🤔

The Dembele rumour was good fun, but I doubt that any of us really thought that it would happen and tbh there’s other areas of the team in more need of improvement than attack.
If we did have £100m to spend I’d rather we got two really decent £50m players rather than one £100m winger.

The sale of Lucas Perez seems to be dragging on endlessly, but as I’ve read that he’s on £80k pw then it’s not too much of a stretch to imagine that the hold up is financial.

David Ospina is on £40k PE I’ve read, but we still can’t shift him, I predict another season long loan with Arsenal paying part of his wages.

Carl Jenkinson is rumoured to be on his way to Swansea, well his American girlfriend has been posting pictures of herself in the Liberty stadium on Instagram so unless she’s signing for the Swansea Ladies team (if there is such a thing) it does seem logical.
I wonder if she was his girlfriend when he played for Gillingham, just a thought?

Rumours that Mo Elneny could be available for transfer is a bit surprising, maybe he falls into the Gabriel Paulista category of the club needing to sell somebody to open up a place for a new signing? All the same I’d be sorry to see him go.
Pity we still haven’t got Paulista at the club right now, I bet that Emery would love a no nonsense centre half to work with?

I’m reading that we’re looking at some Norwegian midfielder who plays for Genk in Belgium and the guy with the ponytail, who would probably be a good signing.

Still hardly anything in the rumour pages concerning Danny Welbeck, I’d imagine that there’s a lot of interest in him, he’s the type of player who we could have sold for a lot more under the old system of the window closing on the 31st. A couple of bad results by clubs like Southampton, Newcastle or Everton and Welbeck would suddenly be like the 2nd coming of that a Man City striker, you know, Jesus. If we don’t move him on we could possibly get a good price for him in January when desperation sets in? Just a thought…..

Campbell is the invisible Costa Rican, not read anything about him, not seen him in the press, don’t know if he’s back in training yet and despite everyone saying that he’s leaving this window, is he?

    Anyway roll on 5pm

It’s just like the good old days… 😄

Lucas Perez gone for £4m, a loss of £13.5m in two years of him being mostly on loan, not a huge amount but not great judgement by Wenger either, or was it Gazides who pushed through that deal, as was the rumour back in 2016 (?} or whenever, I’m losing track of time.

  3. Cicero says:

Kev, I suspect that Perez wasn’t a Wenger choice. He never gave the guy a chance and got him out on loan as soon as he could. Probably an early Gazidis attempt to gain a bit of influence on the direction of the team.

The fact that Perez has gone and Welbeck is on offer seems to suggest there was some truth in the Dembele story.

  4. rico says:

Morning Kev, I’m sure we will be. Apart from LC of course. Lol

I’m disappointed re Perez, I thought he’d get a season under Emery before any decision was made but perhaps he’s seen how he played out on loan and wasn’t overwhelmed.

Dembele rumours were fun, but reality was firmly in check all the while the story gathered pace. It was never going to happen was it..

I read Mavrapanos and Holding could yet leave which is confusing to say the least unless we’ve got others virtually signed and sealed.

  5. Goonster says:

Morning Rico I ‘ll literally beat my head on a lamppost if we let yanited get godin. Oh my world he just slipped under the radar didn’t he. He ‘ll be massive. A beast of a center half. Perfect age and indomitable. God I heaven arsenal don’t make it easy for us fans at all.

  6. allezkev says:

Well the story as I recall it Cicero, was that Wenger had looked at Perez, but couldn’t make up his mind, as was always the case with him and we were light on forwards with the deadline approaching, so Gazides took it on himself to do the deal without Wenger actually saying oui or non.

The story went that Arsene wasn’t happy at this turn of events and pretty much froze Perez out, Perez got the hump and pushed for a move back to Spain last season as he was part of Spain’s World Cup squad, he went back to Deportivo, bombed, they got relegated and he lost his international spot.

And Arsenal wasted a lot of dough.

  7. Goonster says:

Hey BT😃😃😃where have you been mate?? Thank God you showed up just in time in my hour of need. Arsenal ‘ll be the death of me. We need a fucking winger BT. Can’t believe emery can’t see it. God help me.

  8. allezkev says:

Stan, why don’t you have a Cydrax and sit in a darkened room for a few hours. 😀

Yeah Rico, loaning out Holding and Mavropanos would be insane, surely that has to be bollocks. Why don’t we go for Soyuncu?

  9. Goonster says:

Rico I can’t ma’am I just can’t. We have a chance to make a statement and no one is even trying. I guarantee you once the window closes we ‘ll hear of a mammoth bid for dybala!!!!! They do this every fucking year. Geez you just bought the club you soapy moutache wearing old windbag. Do something you cnut faced bastard. It’s 5.43am and I need a drink already. God help me. Am freaking out.

  10. rico says:

He’s having a medical at Everton, or Leicester Kev but any chance of Soyuncu has gone.

Yep, loaning/selling either would be crazy, unless there’s something we don’t know going on. Can’t believe they are able to keep things this quiet if there is.

  11. rico says:

    Morning Adam.

Clubs like Everton, Leicester, West Ham, Fulham etc are really strengthening their squads. They’re going to cause a few upsets I reckon..

  12. Goonster says:

Wait for it Rico wait for it. Remember the 90m quid bid for lemar? Like ffs why wait till the last minute of the transfer window to make a fucking bid??? Who does that? Arsenal of course. Am sick of this. Chelsea just signed the player I ve been pining for in ages. Kovacic is the dog bollocks. God in heaven we have elneny and they have kovacic. Somebody shoot me.

  13. Goonster says:

Ak we tracked soyunchu all season only for him to go to leceister fucking city!!! I mean are you fucking kidding me??? Doubted I have never seen him play but he had it all according to experts. Fast a ball player and physical too and we fucking let him slip off our hands!!!

  14. GOONA says:

If our beloved owner laid out 100 mil out of his own pocket and paid for Dembele to move to us he might have gone a long way for fans ot warm to him but we’ll all remain cold thanks to him GRRRR!

  15. Adam says:

Rico. True, but I am eating the carpet at the moment and expecting a massive signing. I blame Stan Kroenke myself and Theresa May of course.

  16. Azza says:

OMG am I the only one wondering why we are letting Rose go to Shalke rather than signing him and why we haven’t bought Alderweireld from Spurs?? He wants to go – he’s for sale – he’s in his last year of his contract and we need him!!! He’d be perfect – he’s a good quality CB (Spurs best CB IMO) and he’s PL ready!! It would be awesome – just like when Sol left them!! I’m not sold on Vida – he wouldn’t be much different to Sokratis – solid but slow! What about DeLigt?!! Also I don’t think a winger is on the cards – Dembele wont happen and there have been so many wingers going to different clubs that I think he’s happy with his options – if we are to play PEA/LACCA/MKHI as a front 3 then I think he’s happy with Iwobi/Welbeck/Nelson as the other wide options? Whatever happens I think we are ready – we’ve had a good preseason with all the early business and only a couple of players coming back late – think we could surprise a few people – the first season in a long time where I’m genuinely excited to see what happens!

  17. Goonster says:

Rico that don’t mean nothing he could still leave by the end of this window. Don’t hold your breath.😉😉😉

  18. allezkev says:

I guess if Emery doesn’t sign anyone, it’s because Emery has such confidence in the likes of Maitland Niles, Mavropanos and Willock.

    Project Youth Mk2

  19. Goonster says:

What did i say a few hours ago Rico. Only at arsenal🙄🙄🙄🙄 watch this bid get rejected now and they ‘ll come up with the reharsh phrase “atleast we tried” oh ffs arsenal ‘ll be the death of me. I ve been sniffing around on Twitter all day but this is ridiculous. If it happens I ‘ll pierce something on my body. Anyone wanna hazard a guess???

  20. Goonster says:

I know Rico just peeved that we always do this. Every fucking window. Lord God in heaven. I have the mind to bash someone’s skull in. Why are they fucking around and messing with fans sensitivities. God give me strength. Look at my nerves gangling.

  21. rico says:

It’s football Goonie, suggesting you want to smash someone’s head in is a) ridiculous and b) not the kind of comment welcomed or condoned here on HH.

  22. Goonster says:

It could happen. Oh my God. It’s happening folks. Dembele ‘ll be massive. That ‘ll be a statement of intent. We could go from top 4 contenders to title contenders. Lord God in heaven. Make it happen and I ‘ll give up all swear words.

  23. Le Coq Monster says:

    Afternoon all and thanks Rico.

Why we………sorry……….Wenger ever let Gabriel go still pisses me off, he was better than any of the ones we have at the moment .

As for being saved from drowning by either Corbyn or Kroenke, has to be The Gooner Jeremy, splash of water and Kroenke would have the Defribrillator out trying to revive his syrup !

I`d pay good money to see Goonster as the front man of Sky Sports News Transfer Deadline Day !…………I can just see the producers in the back ground with straight jacket at the ready ! 😆

How many times have I told you lot to only listen to Ornstein !…………..Ornstein is the oracle whereas Goonster is probably standing outside McDonalds in Islington waiting for Ronald to come outside and say Dembele just bought a Big Mac Meal !

  24. allezkev says:

As it stands, our 25 man squad for the forthcoming season stands as:

Foreign (17max) Cech, Leno, Ospina, Aubameyang, Xhaka, Monreal, Ozil, Elneny, Lacazette, Mustafi, Mkhitaryan, Kolasinac, Lichtsteiner, Campbell, Koscielny, Sokratis, Torrieira.

English (8 max) Iwobi, Martinez, Bramall (or Iliev), Holding, Welbeck, Bellerin, Jenkinson, Ramsey.

Under 21 ( no limit) Maitland Niles, Osei-Tutu, Mavropanos, Guendouzi, Smith Rowe, Nketiah, Willock, Nelson, Zelalem, Bielik, Sheaf, Gilmour.

That’s how I see it, not Champion quality and maybe not quite top four quality, but capable of winning a cup or two and that’s what we are, a cup team, we’ve been a cup team since we left Highbury.

  25. Le Coq Monster says:

Right !……I`m off down the gym where my punch bag with Kroenke mask will talk to me and give me more realistic transfer rumours than newsnow.

  26. allezkev says:

Maybe Rico, but Tottenham have a really good squad and who knows how the new stadium will effect them, I suspect that it’ll be beneficial.

Mourinho needs to lose it, then maybe we can catch them, otherwise I can see them in the top three.

I still can’t see the benefit of loaning out Chambers?!

  27. VCC says:

I sincerely hope your right rico. But, I’m not putting any of my hard earned cash on it.

The sorry thing about it is, If Wenger had spent wiser on better CB’s we would be well in the hunt for top four at this stage.

I perplexed about what has happened to Bellerin. Perhaps his head was turned when Barca showed an interest? or he is more interested in his media/modelling work?

  28. rico says:

I wouldn’t go as far to do that either Vcc.

Bellerin is an odd one, one left to drift under Wenger. Just like a few players who failed to improve under him and his coaches.

  29. Cicero says:

I believe we have another week in which we can sell players to clubs outside the United Kingdom but the transfer window just slammed shut!

  31. allezkev says:

Tottenham become the first Premier League to not make a signing in the summer window since the transfer windows began….

The radio is full of moaning Spuds. 😆

  32. Rick says:

    Evening Rico and the House.

Rico its not all over until the last day of Augest.
Its only the P/L window that has closed all the rest are still open.
We cannot buy but can still sell and loan players to any team( with the exception of P/L clubs) untill the 31st

  33. Le Coq Monster says:

See Moshiri has spent more than Kroenke at Everton and he only owns 58.8% of the club !……………………..unbelievable what they might spend if Usmanov joins him !
    🙂

  34. Le Coq Monster says:

I know some of you are into the cricket so I took this off my facebook page about my Great Nephew !

Louis is buzzing from his 2 days Net Bowling at Lords. Certainly got them all talking, as he got couple of England wickets 👏🏻🤗 Now given tickets for the first 2 days of the Test match tomorrow and Friday, and more bowling at the teams during their lunch .

Er missed out the important part…. one was Joe Root’s wicket….. clean bowled…!!

Louis is 17 and nearly 6 foot 8 inches !

  35. allezkev says:

  36. Le Coq Monster says:

I prefer the net totals and with the European window still open we will possibly sell a few more, will we nudge £50/60M net ?

  37. micko says:

It’s not all bad Gooners, there’s still a bit of time left to throw some of the deadwood under the bus before the window closes, just wish some of you would let the manager manage the team, he’s obviously got faith in our squad ……why else wouldn’t he have strengthened today, answers on a postcard please !

Adam, will you be renewing old aquaintances come Sunday ?

  38. micko says:

Le Coq, your 3.06 made me laugh, everyone knows it was the fans that forced Gabriel out and not Wegner, Scott will back me up on that one lol.
