As the Summer Window speeds to its conclusion on August 31st, most Gooners are concentrating their attention on the acquisition of new players but what of those talented members of the squad we already have and enjoy? And what does 2011-12 hold in store for them and us??

Jack Wilshere is the cream of the crop, a hugely talented and highly motivated rising star. A player who has everything, one of the best to come off of the Arsenal Production Line. His development since the summer of 2010 has been stellar. He has fantastic technique, allied to great strength and a wonderful winning mentality. Our Jack never ‘Goes Missing’…

He stands on the brink of becoming the teams most important and influential player, the heartbeat and brains of the side.
He can and he will, only get better and I am really looking forward to seeing him take more giant strides in his football development over the next 12 months.

Watching him will soon make me forget those current members of our squad, intent on ‘jumping ship’…

The King is dead, Long live The King…

Many fans still have and understandingly, unease about the clubs goalkeeping situation. I am not one of those, because in Wojciech Szczesny I believe we have a top quality goalkeeper. A goalkeeper with the potential to be between the ‘sticks’ for the next 10 years and more. The confidence he exude’s, spreads a calm across our back-four, a calm only disturbed by Squillaci..!

He has had his David Seaman moment at Wembley but that shouldn’t overshadow an encouraging first season as our No.1.
It’s behind him now and he’ll learn from it.

Now I expect to see him push on and grow into one of the best goalkeepers in the EPL and Europe.

Aaron Ramsey and Emmanuel Frimpong are both emerging from their own injury nightmares.

They have catching up to do but I’m going to enjoy watching them do it this season. They both bring their own particular skills to the team. They have great technique, pass the ball swiftly and accurately, keeping the team moving.

Ramsey shows great intelligence and elegance as he probes and ultimately dissects the opposition and full season from him should see us with a real top top quality player in our team.

Frimpong is all sinewy power and strength, a real alternative to Alex Song. Once his fitness is up to speed and he can stay the course for 90 mins, i think we’ll have a real ‘find’ on our hands.

Both have the hunger and desire to really evolve into major performers for our team and maybe this season will see that happen?

The last two have huge potential. Ryo Miyaichi and Benik Afobe. Both have looked impressive in pre-season, both have given me great encouragement and belief that we have another couple of really promising players in and around the squad.

Ryo could be a sensation if he gets his work permit. If he played for Newton Heath I kinda suspect that he’d already have a permit tucked away in his pocket. As it is, we’re waiting, still but I’m optimistic this time. Coming off the bench, against tired opponents, Ryo could be devastating, imagine Ryo, Theo and Gervinho ripping teams apart?

He is still very young, but has improved in leaps and bounds already. A work permit and a year under Wenger could see Ryo as a major player in 9 months time. Lets hope so.

Benik is an interesting option for Wenger to ponder. Fresh from a successful loan at Huddersfield town, he has matured and could be a valuable player to have around the squad, up to the New Year. We cannot predict what lays in store for some of our players, and having Afobe around, to come off the bench or give Wenger the option to rotate, is a real plus.

Of course, if he doesn’t get much exposure, then the option of a loan in the January Window is always there.

Well that’s my Six Of The Best. I for one, will enjoy watching their progress, they’ll be like six new signings won’t they? 😉
