Ramsey into the Guinness Book of Records. FA and their spanners….

Morning all.

A League of Their Own, hosted by none other than James Corden, a man whose face seems to pop up everywhere these days, certainly too much imo. A West Ham fan who likes to take a pop at Arsenal any time he can. Last night, Aaron Ramsey was one of his guests, something which thrilled Jack Whitehall.

Ramsey plays a bit of golf apparently and he’s pretty good. Corden offered him and Jamie Redknapp the chance to break the record for the most ‘keppie uppies’ of a golf ball with a golf club in 30 seconds (I think). Our man went first and broke the record, going in the Guinness Book of Records – Redknapp didn’t bother, leaving the Welshman to enjoy his moment of glory. It was quite funny really, honest.

The FA decided to throw a spanner into the works yesterday by changing a few of our fixtures for television viewing. Good for the Arsenal fans who aren’t able to get to The Emirates or travel to the away matches but a few lunchtime kick off times have been sneaked in, and our boys don’t like those do they.

Match changes :-

Arsenal v Leicester City
Sunday, February 14 (originally Saturday, February 13)
Kick-off: 12.00pm
Live on: SKY SPORTS

Tottenham Hotspur v Arsenal
Saturday, March 5
Kick-off: 12.45pm (originally 3.00pm)
Live on: BT SPORT

Arsenal v West Bromwich Albion*
Saturday, March 12
Kick-off: 5.30pm (originally 3.00pm)
Live on: SKY SPORTS

* This fixture will be subject to any FA Cup commitments for either team

Everton v Arsenal
Saturday, March 19
Kick-off: 12.45pm (originally 3.00pm)
Now live on: BT SPORT

Between the latter two fixtures, a trip to Barcelona takes place on Wednesday 16th March.

I don’t know what all the fuss is about playing at lunchtime and I certainly don’t know why the team seems to struggle as it’s just a game, regardless of when the whistle blows. The pre-match preparation should be the same, the mindset should be right as should the performance, in fact the only difference is that the players wouldn’t have had a light lunch before going about their business. So, get up earlier I say and other than the Everton game, they haven’t exactly got far to travel.

As said before about fearing a trip to Stoke, it’s all in the mind. The players have learned how to beat the so called big teams away from home and it’s high time they overcome the lunchtime ko off issue. If there is an issue of course.

By the time those matches come along, barring any further players suffering injury, we should have a darn strong squad, especially as Tomas Rosicky Francis Coquelin and Danny Welbeck tipped to be back playing real soon and who knows what might happen yet in the transfer window.

Arsene Wenger says the club are open to an ‘exceptional signing’ – well so are we fans aren’t we?

Have a good Friday guys.

    Exceptional – Isco.
Legend – Ramsey for his spuds relegated comment.
    Tools – spanner wrenching FA.
And for Sunday – karma over the thug known as Costa.

  2. potter says:

I’d like to see him up and running first , A new deal now is like a re-run of Diaby all over again. Maybe it’s part of Wenger’s socialist ethos to have at least one lame duck around at all times.

  3. allezkev says:

Wilsheres injury record is no better or no worse than Tomas Rosicky’s, but I don’t recall anyone wanting to dump him?

Also, I don’t remember Wilshere having the same injury problems when he was on loan at Bolton, for whatever reason??

  4. allezkev says:

Watching the Stoke game with Adam, I noticed Koscielny giving away possession more often than the useless Mertesaker…

So are we gonna dump Koz as well?

  5. Adam says:

Morning Kev. Kozzer’s passing have always been a source of concern. I like it when he wins the ball and gives it short. Alas, like many of our players, he prefers the long pass into the feet of an opposition player. Poor old Per. He can’t run very fast so he’s useless.

  6. goonster says:

Someone buy Rambo a pint πŸ˜€ what a man. I watched that over and over and over again. Is he a new arsenal legend??? I think so πŸ˜€ morning good people. Beaming from ear to be. COYGS.

  7. goonster says:

I still don’t get why people get bent out of shape whenever we re trying to tie down our players to long deals. Yes jack the lad is injured but will it trade him for barkley alli or Henderson?? No way. He’s ours and someday he’s going to fulfill his destiny. The lad is still 23 people. Give him time. You don’t go from bossing the midfield against Barca to being shit. Plus I ll take xavi’s word over two bits keyboard warriors with no lives. Give it a rest already. Jack is staying.

  8. goonster says:

Adam me old China plate πŸ˜€ he put the spuds where they belong and on national TV!!! LEGEND MATERIAL??? I think so o. Lol

  9. goonster says:

Oh how rude of me and with rico in the house???? Morning all. Forgive me rico πŸ˜€ guess I was just carried away. Lol

  10. scottfromoz says:

I love seeing Kozzer run it out from the back…he doesn’t do that enough, IMO.
Still, I trust his passing game more than the big fellas, which is damn scary.

  11. potter says:

Hi all , where have I been ? just practicing the art of being a lifeless two bit keyboard warrior . Personally I love Rosicky and Jack but I want fit players in the squad and we have too many long termers hanging around . When they are fit and playing pay them , if they don’t make it back to the pitch :- Ship them out.

  12. goonster says:

Lol Potter that wasn’t meant for you mate. I just read a thread on Facebook where so called gooners were losing their shit just because Wilshire’s getting a new deal. I apologize if you felt I was referring to you. I would never do that. I have utmost respect for everyone on here. Forgive me potter.

  13. Adam says:

I like the Maritime museum but when I was there last year it was half-term and rather raucous.
    Brudder. Surely not. πŸ™‚
I suppose he must think that the title is in the bag even after dropping 4 points from the last 6? Gawd blimey.

  14. allezkev says:

Scott, I try to see the good in all our players.
    Some can do nothing right.
    Others can’t do anything wrong.
    It has been forever thus.

The problem with both BFG and Koz giving away cheap possession, could be more down to the fact that they don’t have Coquelin sitting in front of them, who they could pass to instead of trying Hollywood passes…
Flamini’s distribution is questionable, and Ramsey has usually gone walkabout.

    Just saying

  15. Orfevrerie says:

I wish Jack well but the truth is he’s too broken to be relied on. We’ve been playing the record that is labelled β€œThis has to be Jack’s year to realize his potential” since 2011. When are we going to stop playing it, when he’s 29 like Diaby? Shouldn’t we have learn this lesson by now?
In a way he’s been incredibly unlucky to pick up the injuries he has… but life is what it is. Injuries or no injuries he’s in an incredibly fortunate position to be earning thousands every week. We, as a club, don’t owe Jack a living. Although it could be said that Jack does owe the club to try his best to become fit, ready and maintain a professional attitude at all times, especially when in the public eye.

  16. rico says:

    Afternoon all..

Orf, that’s a bit harsh isn’t it? We know what it’s like for a footballer to have his leg broken by a thug and as much as I dislike Costa, I would never wish one of our players would break his leg intentionally…

  17. Marshall says:

Got much love for JW (that Norwich goal still lingers in my best memories watching arsenal), he got undoubted quality but if he’ll be playing just 3 months a season and earning weekly wages we could be having a fit player running all season. We are not a charity club. and yes he’s replaceable.

  18. Orfevrerie says:

Yeah, Rico, but bit harsh indeed, just carried away by just watching the incident replay of Kos and costa incidents in TV a bit while ago. Make me so mad with the thug antics.

  19. allezkev says:

Hazard, Costa, Alexis, Ozil, all fit, it should be a cracker of a game.

We’re long overdo beating that mob at our place, but a draw looks the most likely result… ?

  20. Orfevrerie says:

The most fear, draw indeed, Kev, cause chelsea will play different when they know it’s arsenal. Better lose to Bournemouth, but no chance in hell losing to arsenal they say, no way.

  21. allezkev says:

Orf, seeing Costa get a well deserved red card would be very very satisfying mate…

Hopefully the Emirates crowd will be on it and do their best to influence the officials.

Our crowd can lack a bit of passion, but in these games you can feel the energy coming from the stands.
We’re gonna need that ‘big time’ on Sunday.

Rico, any news on the U21’s, or is it an evening ko..?

  22. allezkev says:

Orf, we need to be taking 10 points minimum from our February fixtures.

12 would even get Lee excited…

  23. Rick says:

    Afternoon Rico and the House
Not a very nice day down south.
Even worse at the Colny where in pouring rain and and bad conditions the U21 were held to a 0-0 draw. Missed a chance to go top.
    Rossicky played 45 mins

  24. allezkev says:

The game may not have been a memorable one, but Tomas Rosicky took a significant step in his recovery from injury as he played the first 45 minutes of Arsenal’s goalless draw with Swansea City at U21 level today.

The experienced midfielder showed some encouraging signs as he made his first appearance for the Gunners since May before being substituted in a pre-planned change.

  25. Micko says:

How do rico, as corny as it sounds I really do think Alexis will be like a new signing for us this weekend.

  26. Micko says:

And all going well could be 22 points better off than the Chav’s Sunday evening, enough to warm the cockles of your heart.

  27. rico says:

Clattenburg officiated our match against West Brom, he tried to get us a point by awarding a penalty, shame Santi slipped… Lol

  28. Lewis says:

Anything less than 3 points on sunday not good enough IMO. This is a woeful Chavs team, yes they will be more up for this than any other game but this is the sort of game we have to be winning if we want to be champs.

I’ve got a sneaky feeling the Hammers will nick a point or three against city this weekend.

  29. allezkev says:

BT, I found the above, and I think any rumours originate from Martin Liptons completely made up story…

As I read it I just thought, ‘what a croc of shit’ and where is his evidence?

Lipton, as we all know, is a scummer and a liar…

  30. Joe says:

Good morning all, great news on Wenger’s new contract extension it’s really going to make some peaple happy. ?

  31. Joe says:

Best to to take such happy news ?with pinch of salt and wait till its on the .com.
Must admit one of my few pleasures in life is a lay in with breakfast in bed.

  32. Wavy says:

So, if the Wenger contract talks are true, there will be no ‘pep’ talks in the Arsenal dressing room next season!

Morning all. Bright, sunny and almost warm here. Does the cockles of your heart no end of cheery goodness!?

  33. allezkev says:

Tbh, if Wenger signed an extension, it wouldn’t or shouldn’t be much of a surprise.

From the perspective of Kroenke, who we all know lacks ambition and is only interested in his investment growing, and of course the LA Rams.
Plus the huge profits he’ll make from that, retaining Wenger is the obvious choice and the cheapest option at that managerial level…

Why would Kroenke get rid of Wenger, pay Guardiola twice as much and give him Β£200m to spend on new players and salaries?
    It ain’t gonna happen Gooners…

  34. allezkev says:

Guardiola would take Arsenal up a level or two, possibly making us a realistic challenger for the Champions Lge.
But Stan ain’t gonna bankroll that any time soon…
Stan doesn’t care about Arsenal winning the Champions League, he only cares about the bottom line…

  35. Adam says:

Kev. The board probably look at Man Utd, Liverpool and Chelsea and shudder at how easy it is to get it wrong. Wenger will go when he wants to go and I am sure he is aware of all the permutations where Pep is concerned. I doubt Pep will manage more than one team in the PL before retiring.
If he wins the PL this year then why not. If he blows it now….

  36. allezkev says:

Yes Adam, I totally understand that, but mate, we ain’t talking Brendan Rodgers or David Moyes here, we’re talking about the best manager and coach of this generation.

I was listening to England’s new rugby coach, Eddie Jones, and he took some time out to visit Pep at Barcelona and although he is known as a tough, demanding coach, Jones realised that Guardiola was on a another couple of levels when it came to hard work…

You don’t get opportunities to get the best Coach available very often, and if Afsenal pass up this opportunity we will suffer hugely when Pep takes ManCity to EPL domination and City become yet ‘another’ English team to lift the CL while we Arsenal fans are still waiting, waiting and waiting…

  37. allezkev says:

Rico, I’ll be surprised to see Pep at Arsenal.

Kroenke will ensure that Arsenal’s priority remains profit and not success…

  38. potter says:

Pretty much summed the whole thing up there Kev. Be prepared for a diet of more of the same.

    Cue celebrations at Untold.

  39. Joe says:

We have a manager who has won a trophy in the last two seasons has us top of the pl with a good chance of winning it.
We have as good a chance as any other team to win another fa cup at the moment what I am saying is that we are competitive.
Two seasons ago we spent Β£95m on players not so much at the start of this season but we still got a world class player the 3rd in 3 seasons.
If that was a new manager we’d be lording him not saying we should trade him for a new manager.

  40. Joe says:

Ok so we get pep next season will he do any better he has taken a Munich team that won the CL and beating one of the Spanish giants 7-0 in a semi-final to losing 7-0 or so very soon after to another Spanish giant.

  41. Marinello says:

    Hi Rico,
You deserve a lay in every so often.
Great comments from yourself, Kev and Adam about the possible extension of Arsene’s contract.
Kronk does not want too much change, it would mean him having to get involved a bit rather than being the sleeping partner that he is.
Do you think that Sanchez and Ozil will play tomorrow?

  42. Adam says:

Morning Marinello, Potter. Watching the TV the other day I saw a ‘football financial expert’ say that all the big clubs are heading toward corporate ownership and that the income of the PL clubs is going to keep on increasing. Not sure if that’s good or bad really.
I would think that Ozil and Sanchez will both play tomorrow. It’s a must win game really after dropping 4 points in 2 games.

  43. rico says:

Joe, I didn’t have you down as an AW fan… πŸ˜‰

Hi Marinello, thank you… I wish I stayed there I was having a nice dream about winning the league… πŸ˜‰

I reckon both will start too….

  44. allezkev says:

I’m not criticising Wengers efforts, he’s done a great job, albeit with a bit more of a proactive attitude in the transfer market, we might not have had to wait 10 years for the first of those two FACups…

I think I’ve been quite a supporter of Wenger over the last couple of seasons, but standing still isn’t an option…

The fact that Guardiola hasn’t won the CL at Bayern is no good reason not to approach him for the Arsenal job…

Cast your mind back to how Bayern destroyed Arsenal at the Allianze a few months ago.

Who would you imagine will go closer to lifting the CL this season, PG or AW…?

  45. Joe says:

Just one point about our heavy defeat away to Munich we did beat Munich in the first match.
Between 1st and 2nd games we lost 4 first choice players not many teams could sustain that kind of loss of players except Barcelona, Munich and Real.
