Bould & Henry waiting for Arsene to leave? Arsenal closing in on next signing but must pay in excess of £5m…

Morning all.

So The Sun newspaper have decided to stir the managerial merry-go-round pot by suggesting Arsene Wenger is set to sign a two year contract extension with Arsenal. Hoorah shout some, others will be left trying to pick their chin up off the floor as any hope of Pep replacing the Frenchman would be pretty much over. That is of course if was a chance in the first place.

Pep likes money, he likes ready made footballers I think and he certainly likes success. Arsene Wenger likes to give youth a chance and he sticks by players, regardless of whether we fans he should or not. He’s loyal to the club and he’s loyal to his players, if their face fits of course..

Since the day Pat Rice retired, Steve Bould has been Arsene Wenger’s right hand man. The two together have gone through good times by winning the FA Cup twice, and plenty of not so good times too. Hammering’s by Liverpool, City and Chelsea, losses to the noisy neighbours and the customary defeats in the first knock-out stage of the Champions League, not to forget the odd dreadful performance each season.

Bould is an Arsenal man, he’s been with the club for a long long time, either as a player, a coach with the kids or now, with the big boys. He knows what a NLD is about and he knows the fans don’t like losing that match at any cost. He was one of a number of players who when Tony Adams led, they followed. Like I said, he’s an Arsenal man at heart.

So is Thierry Henry. It matters not really that he went off in search of a Champions League medal with Barcelona, because when he could, he came back. Ok, he’s not Arsenal born and bread, but neither was Bould as he was born a long way away from London but the club got to them where it hurts most. The heart!

Just as Bould sits alongside Arsene Wenger whilst learning, Henry is picking his brains about coaching, managing and how to deal with players both young and old too.

Neither have managed a club of their own, but I suspect both will, and soon. The same could be said about Freddie Ljungberg and Robert Pires, both who are keeping themselves busy at Arsenal whilst trying to obtain their their coaching badges.

All sorts of names are being thrown around when it comes to Arsene Wenger’s successor, but I wouldn’t bet against one of Bould or Henry being that man when the day comes and should Arsene Wenger stay on for that extra couple of years, both might just be ready to step up.

Maybe the two will work together with Sir Bobby and Freddie and then when Arsene Wenger leaves, they’ll be part of a new management/coaching team. Maybe they’ll call upon the services of Dennis Bergkamp too?

I’m sure Stan Kroenke would much prefer a scenario similar to that rather than wondering when Pep will be on the phone demanding yet another few million pounds during a transfer window….

Finally, and sticking with stories in the newspapers, Arsene Wenger Arsenal are preparing a second bid for Leicester’s highly-rated left-back Ben Chilwell. Leicester want in excess of £5 million for the player, I suspect Arsenal have offered £1m and a pound…

Have a good day guys….

I’m not criticising Wengers efforts, he’s done a great job, albeit with a bit more of a proactive attitude in the transfer market, we might not have had to wait 10 years for the first of those two FACups…

I think I’ve been quite a supporter of Wenger over the last couple of seasons, but standing still isn’t an option…

The fact that Guardiola hasn’t won the CL at Bayern is no good reason not to approach him for the Arsenal job…

Cast your mind back to how Bayern destroyed Arsenal at the Allianze a few months ago.

Who would you imagine will go closer to lifting the CL this season, PG or AW…?

Afternoon, Juventus Rico same day as us, I think
I feel a 2 year extension is inevitable, he has appointed his scouts Steve rowley, and brought in Morrow to head the youth scouting network and with leicester,s, Steve Walsh also been head hunted, it does seem he,s micro-managing appears further evidence that his enthusiasm to stay and build on his existing Arsenal legacy seem inevitable, I don,t think he,s quite ready to retire yet.
On tomorrows game i feel the team must contain both Ozil and Sanchez , or we could struggle

It was an article I read, Rico and boy does it lead you think he might just well see out the best part of this decade. Suppose the question could be, is he going to groom he,s successor or will the club look, externally for he,s replacement, when that day does arrive.

Makes sense, Pires seems to have some influence on the Training ground too, most likely, the next generation, could well come from within.
We,ll do it our way, “classy” and not a circus like other teams.

See that d**khead Vieira, saying Mourinho had more influence on him than Wenger.
18 months under him and 9 years under Wenger.
What a tosser.

“[Mourinho’s] the manager who had more influence on me, ” says Vieira. “Why? Because he was the one who impressed me most on his work ethic. He knew everything about the opposition, the strength, weakness. His detail was unbelievable; everything was so clear about what he wanted from each player. I don’t know what happened at Chelsea but he always got the best out of his players… Arsène is more concentrated on his own team. He gives freedom to players to express themselves. It’s a different style.”

That’s a statement that is open to debate.

5-4 to the dippers….

Bob John

How embarrassing are the dippers? Acting like they’ve just won the league throwing shirts to the crowd! All they have done is fluked a win at Norwich. Klopp gets more annoying by the week. Complaining about 5 minutes added on and then celebrating like a buffoon when they score in 94th minute.

Defending is a lost art I’m afraid, everybody wants to be like Barcalona or Arsenal…

That 4-5 result is like Hackney Marshes football.

What does it say about the level of coaching in this country when you’re leading 3-1 and then go on to concede 4 goals. Pathetic…

One thing is for certain, Paddy won’t be working for the Arsenal, ever!

Good night Rico. Good Evening one and all.

If Pep is not after the money, not about the money, he will come to Arsenal. We will welcome him with open hands. But I seriously doubt that. We are a stable club with prestige and have respect for all races. Unlike Chelsea supporters. We might not buy player 70M , when sometimes considered is just waste of money, but we do play decent football. What else would a man want?

At the same time I won’t complain if Bould gets the job. The man is composed and right now he is AW right hand’s man. And young as he is he won’t scared to make the right decisions when spending the cash for the right players.

Top notch Kev, he’s certainly having a productive loan spell, he has a good chance especially if few seniors are moved on in the summer. Wellington seems to be getting some good reports, it’ll be interesting to see what happens with him.Bolton in a relegation battle and all their other problems, could be good character building experience.

Morning All

Morning BT, yeah Wellington Silva is an interesting one, not many observers give him much of a chance of making the grade at Arsenal, but you never know mate?

I saw some bits of him playing for Bolton recently and he seems behind a lot of their attacking play, he was skilful and has good pace, although his finishing is poor.

Could be the next Coquelin/Campbell I guess?

scottfromoz
scottfromoz

Kev, I saw footage around 2 years ago on Silva, and his ability one on one is phenomenal.
It seems it must be his attitude that’s held him back because he’s got an abundance of talent.
Morning all.

Morning Kev,Scott and da The Boss….

Scott, i read that Wellington’s early loans were plagued with attitude problems. Perhaps being so young and being moved around Europe from club to club didn’t help him much.If he had been able to stay with Arsenal those problems may have been nipped in the bud earlier. Though he seems to have found his feet at Bolton, he has plenty of skill.
