Positive news surrounding Mesut Ozil’s Arsenal contract.

Morning all.

The football news has hit an all time low as far as interest goes. The back pages are already in overdrive with their transfer rumours ahead of the January transfer window and the longer both Mesut and Alexis drag out their contract negotiations, the harder it is for us fans to believe they are willing to put pen to paper. Losing both players in the summer would be awful as far as I am concerned but as we know, if it’s all about the money, we might. Arsenal won’t match what the likes of Real, Barca, Juventus or even Man Utd and Man City pay their players so one just has to hope both players are settled at Arsenal and love playing for the club and it’s fans.

Both players are at their peak, but I suspect they know that their next contract is probably the last opportunity they’ll get to earn a premium amount of money and with Mesut being 28 years old, Alexis 28 next month, their agents will be out to milk as much money for respective ‘clients’ as possible. And let’s not forget, the more money the player gets, the more the agent gets too so it’s in their interest to battle hard for the best deal possible and I doubt either will care about which club pays that money.

However, there is some good news, certainly surrounding Mesut Ozil, if it’s true of course and who knows what to believe when reading stories in the newspapers, especially The Sun. They report that the German international has shelled out a massive £10 million for a new home in North London. A few of the local residents have seen him hanging around or driving his posh expensive cars around the area and one went as far to tell a reporter ‘I heard from another neighbour that he’s definitely moving in.’

Why would he buy a new home and then decide to move clubs? He wouldn’t would he? To be honest, I’ve always thought that out of the two players, he’s the most likely to stay, especially after the things he’s been saying about the club, manager and his own game recently:

“I knew that if I moved to Arsenal, I would develop myself further, especially under the boss. I’m on a good way, the team really supports me, the manager gives me his trust and you see that I enjoy myself on the pitch.”

I know it’s been said before but perhaps Mesut really is waiting to see what Arsene Wenger’s intentions are before deciding on his own future, maybe Alexis is too but if the story about the ‘new pad’ in Highgate is true, then we Arsenal fans have something to be positive about. And let’s be honest, if he stays, surely his attacking mate would want to as well because they certainly work well together on the pitch..

But there’s a downside, as if both players do stay, then it’s highly like Arsene Wenger will too…..

Morning again Rico. I was told, before the season started, that Ozil had decided to buy his house. Apparently and since then, his wage demands have gone up in the light of other huge-money deals for other ‘top’ players.

Rico. He loves Wenger so he will probably sign, especially bearing in mind that, for the top players, the contract means nothing except more money.

Morning all and thnks Rico.

You talk a lot of sense Rico in that it will be their last big paydays as far a contracts go so they will both ( or their agants will ) will not rush in.
I just hope we dont get another Na$ri/Fabregas outcome as I dont think I would recover and all hope would be lost !

Morning Rico and all especially cockiie 😉

You have to read between the lines when looking at all these articles. RVP still has a mansion in North london and so what if Ozil buys one as well. It is said he has a special relationship with AW but even if we offered him 200K would he refuse 250k a week from another club.Money talks all languages.

I usually think the opposite of what i read and that is often nearer the truth.
Now Chris Coleman who has an outstanding record in club managership (cough) is stating Ramsey could play for any club in the world, well I would like to see him return to the form he was with us 2 seasons ago, first.

Hi All:
Next to Pires, Ozil is my favorite Arsenal player. Having said that, I think that Arsenal risk on being stuck at Ozil and Sanchez purgatory for another 5 years, especially if were are building a team around them. I don’t share the idea that losing one or both is the end of the world,m given the way this team is constructed. It is Just a matter of who you Replace them with. In “big” games they haven’t exactly set the world on fire nor do Arsenal put the fear factor in any team with them. True It is easier to keep them, especially Ozil, but Sanchez is easily replaceable. Please don’t ask me to name those who can replace them, because there plenty and under 28 years.

I`d give up if we lost even one !………..supposed to have the most money in the bank of any club in the world and if we cant keep our two blue ribbon players then someone at Arsenal needs to be sacked !………pay the going rate you tight cnuts !

rico, it’s the knock on effect that annoys me, probably the reason why Jose is still homeless and living out of a hotel, he’s waiting on Ozil as well !

I do have some sympathy for our players though, most of them have to work up until 2 o’clock every day, hardly any time to sit down and put pen to paper.

rico, with the silly wages in the game now even the most ordinary players are comfortably rich these days, Sanogo leaving would be like a rusty sausage to the heart !

Morning all.
1. I believe the players in question are worth whatever penny they are asking for.
2. The club can easily afford their wages.
3. It will show intent and ambition by the club.

Personally, I’d like them to stay. I cannot recall the last time at arsenal we had regular spasms of excitement that these players bring in matches.

Agree Marshall…………………………I was shocked and gutted when Na$ri and Fabregas were allowed to leave ………………Alexis and Ozil are way beyond them two in ability, proper world class and both would be in my all time Arsenal team, I will honestly give up if the pair go as I cant see who we would get better to replace, because if we cant keep them two, how can we afford anyone better …………………..and who`s better at our level ?

Marshall
Marshall

The last time we played really beautifully is when Nasri, Fab and Wilshere were playing imo and I think that was when we were closest to win the league…till Ozil came along and hope/excitement was restored. Sanchez brought the energy the team had been lacking so much. Everybody learnt to track back, defend as a team after seeing Sanchez working his butt off. These two players have been crucial and brought something tangible to the team, if they left and unfortunately they go with all those traits it will be a major step backwards imo.

Marshall

How much will a hard working player like Sanchez and one with vision like Ozil cost to replace? And then eventually they’ll become major players for the team and again their camps start demanding higher wages. So we let them (the replacements) go too and replace them…and again and again… The gravy train got to stop somewhere.

Morning all.

I may be on my own with this thinking, but I`d rather keep both players `till the end of their contracts ratehr than sell them, I dont care about the money, I`d rather have the two for another year and half/two years whatever the length is.
I was of the same opinion with RVP, we should have kept him rather than let Kroenke cream off because he got £20M for a player with a year left, we had a goalscorer ( the best in years and still one we haven`t replaced ) who may have won us the league had he stayed, because lets face it that £20M was well spent by SAF as it won them the league and they wouldn`t have won it had we not sold him !
If you love the thought of how much money we have in the bank, then rejoice if/when we sell our two prized assets, but are you like me and totally pissed off with all the money side and want to just see great players play for a great club……………….fcuk the money ………keep the gready bastards ! 🙂

Morning all,
The possible selling these two players, or either one of them, is a ridiculous situation and shouldn’t even be entertained by the club.
Imagine what it’d cost to run eplace them right now?
120-130 million??
Actually, we shouldn’t mention these numbers, else Stan may get excited 🙂

Morning Guys:

Let’s just suppose for a minute that it is not about money with Ozil and Sachez – after all Sanchez could gave earned more from Liverpool but he choose Arsenal – but they just simply want to leave for whatever reason. Marshall and LC both proved the point I was making. Fabergas and Nasri left but now we have Ozil and Sanchez. In sports there are always uncertainties and there is always better soewhere. We don’t know if RVP stayed we would won the league nor can we guarantee that Ozil and Sanchez will win us the league. That’s why they play the game.

Le Coq Monster

We can never be 100% Obi, but I did say we might have won the league had RVP stayed and that would have been better than the £20M………………I am however 100% certain Manshafter would not have won the league without RVP…………he scored all their goals and some crutial one`s !…………the bastard ! 😆
Scott also makes the important point of how much would we have to pay to get players as good as our two……that`s if there are any and if they are available, then there`s the wage s of them aswell to be taken in account, a lot easier to just give them £300k pw and get on with it and just worry about if we can keep hold of Sanogo instead ! 🙂

It may have little to do with money at all. Ozil has said, allegedly that he won’t sign a new contract until he knows what the lounge lizard is going to do In the future. No mention of cash. It may have far more to do with ‘potential’. Being a great player is all very well, but if you never win much, nor does winning the EPL or CL, a player may be persuaded to move if the new club seems to be a more likely prospect. For Ozil, perhaps he has his eyes on Bayern, and Alexis, Juve.
Who knows? Only the players and their agents and, given time, the management and then the fans. The press ‘know’ diddly squat, and have to be ignored, at all times!
All will be revealed in the fullness of time. We’ll just have to be patient. As the Coq monster suggested and Obi, if two leave it gives the club the opportunity to find/buy two more. No player is irreplaceable.

God afternoon and a very dull pm it is too!

On matters transfer management, I sincerely hope we did not sell a 21 year old Gnabry full of potential without a buy back clause or a first refusal. That would be crap management. At 24 he’ll be better than Ox.

Wavy @ 1:07 I really do not think is about money with those guys….Ozi gives a lot away thru his charity work any and Alexis can’t play for most teams because he wants to play all the time. When Pep sold him he said that Alexis “slows down the attack'” nothing has changed since. If anything Alexis dominates the ball more now, so why would Pep want him back.

If we lose either Sanchez or Ozil there will be a riot.We can’t keep losing players that we need.I don’t go along with this no player is bigger than the club.

If we payed them all 250K a week (just as an example, not reality) still no guarantee we would win trophies.
Agents know we are an easy touch and we will lose the two mentioned and eventually Bellerin and anyone else who makes good.

One can see the same pattern year after year.

Arsenal forward Alexis Sanchez returned to training with the Chile national side on Sunday ahead of his country’s World Cup qualifier with Uruguay, a match Arsene Wenger will be desperate for him to miss.

Sanchez joined the training session with a heavily bandaged right thigh and was seen doing ball work, though it has been reported he did not play a full part in his side’s workout.

The 27-year-old reported for international duty last week and was swiftly diagnosed with a thigh injury, remaining in Santiago whilst the Chile squad were held to a 0-0 draw in Colombia.

Despite Wenger saying that risking Sanchez’s fitness could be “suicidal” and result in a lengthy layoff the Chilean federation have suggested that they will consider their star striker for what could prove to be a crucial tie for La Roja, currently fifth in the South American qualifying table and occupying a playoff spot for a World Cup qualifier, at home to second-placed Uruguay.

Maybe if Sanchez gets injured playing for Chile, the Chile FA will do the decent thing and pick up his wages while he’s unavailable?

Le Coq Monster
Le Coq Monster

The truth of the matter is that the only person who know`s whether Alexis is fit is Alexis himself !.
Chile`s manager can only ask Alexis how he feels and this is a quote from Chile`s manager………………………………..‘At no time we have received pressure from any club. Not Arsenal or Bayern.

‘The health of the players is paramount, we are very responsible.

‘We do not risk to anyone who is not in a position to play.’

Le Coq Monster

The problem of my above comment is that we have all probably been asked if were Ok to play in a game and because you wanted to play have done so even if not a 100% fit……………Alexis seems the sort who would do just that …………..especially for his country !

Squeaky bum time whilst he plays !
