Pogba, Sterling, De Bruyne, Schneiderlin or Turan…..

Firstly well done to Chile for winning their first ever Copa America and of course to our very own Alexis for scoring the winning  penalty with a very cheeky “Panenka”… I think wecan almost guarantee he will return to us for the start of the season feeling very happy with himself.

Well it seems there are some pretty mad fee’s being bandied about in the media today and the players mentioned are being linked with the usual suspects. We are thankfully not linked with anyone for stupid money yet but am sure we will be in coming weeks. The Oilers of Manchester have been given the green light to again spend fortunes as the financial fair play seems to have been thrown out the window as we expected as Uefa crumble under the threats of the money clubs forcing certain issues. We all know we cannot compete with the sugar daddy money but we can and will I am sure spend what we generate and that in itself is a lot of money.

Many of the over priced players are also over hyped it helps their current clubs push up the price, do we really want or need a player costing in excess of fifty million quid and the added problem of a huge ego and chip on the shoulder, do we want to upset the atmosphere in the dressing room with someone who maybe thinks he can walk on water..?

I’d be happy with any player who shows the work ethic we got from Alexis last season and we have all seen how infectious his hunger was as it rubbed off on many in the squad. Far to many people judge a player by the fee attached to his name but we all know that’s media driven, we for the most part know we will not compete with the Oil and Gas money clubs and why should we, the playing field isn’t level but as said we can compete at our own level and there are many great players out there who can and would make us better.

We all have our own opinions on who those players are and we all hope that the Club goes out and buys what we think we need. I believe we’ll try promote from inside the club but I also still think we will buy another couple of players.

When it comes to clubs selling a player they all want the best and most inflated price they can get but at what point does a player step in and say sorry I don’t want to join club “X” and the who deal falls apart and starts from scratch, Is this what we are seeing with Schneiderlin as it seems he isn’t so keen on Man Utd or is this his agent and people stirring the pot for a better deal for himself..? It’s all smoke and mirrors but in the coming weeks players are returning from holidays and more and more deals will be done.

We then see what Arsene has up his sleeve, the rabbit or a dud..!

Shniedrlin prefers a move to the mighty arse. Who would have thought? Man poo don’t have the appeal they used to since that old bacon face retired. Am loving it. Hopefully they ll slowly creep into mediocrity like loserfools. Come on you gunners 😀

  2. goonster says:

Is it bad that I love seeing messi squirm 😀 there’s something oddly satisfying watching that cnut suffer. Hehehehe he’s human afterall just like the rest of us 😀

  3. goonster says:

Thanks wath….her grand ma should be here soon. Can’t wait. I need me a wife wath. I can’t do this by myself. It’s too hard. Just too hard. God help me.

  4. Lee says:

WATH, Stan and all good moaning…
If Arsene wanted Schneiderlin I think he’d be all ready ours….think he’s got another player lined up! B-E-N-D-E-R!!!!! Just for you Kev!

  5. Tai says:

    Morning all,

    Good read, Wath…

Hey, Goonie, where the hell have you been? You disappeared once Cech was done…and I was getting drowned in liquor all alone!

  6. goonster says:

MG I doubt if we are looking at another midfielder. We re stacked in that department. Maybe a striker if theo don’t renew his contract but I have a feeling we re done this window. We might see a couple of kids from barfa.

  7. Malaga gooner says:

Goonie a midfielder will depend on santi snd Jack staying. Im nor sure about jack the club don’t like holding on to players that constantly in the limelight for bad reasons

  8. goonster says:

MG wilshere ain’t going no where like my American friends ll say. He’s Mr arsenal plus he’s coming into his own and then we sell him?? No way. Him and rambo to boss the midfield for years to come. Jack Is not for sale. Period.

  9. Dick Swiveller says:

You’re right, insofar as people do judge based on the money spent but whilst you can buy average players for big fees which mislead some to rating them higher than they should, you generally need to pay big money for the big talent, so it’s an easy equivalence to make. Will be interesting to see how paying 25m for Depay skews the way he’s viewed.

Doesn’t it have to be chipped to be a Panenka? It was a cheeky and ballsy penalty, either way.

  10. Dublingunner says:

Morning, well said Wath, Happy to say I tipped Chile at 7/2 on here before the tournament began, what a delight to see our man lift the Copa America, well deserved, let,s hope he had a few words in Vidals ear about coming to Arsenal. What a player he,d be for us, If only. Two strikers linked this morning, Benzema and Pedro, can,t be havin Benzema, considering Giroud is keeping him out of the French squad. We should test the water, with a 35, 40 million bid for Isco, who back in May, it was reported, he wasn’t happy at Madrid, getting no game time, and might be open to a big move.

  11. Wath says:

It was chipped Dick, the ball left the ground…. lol

Sorry Tai, no idea why you went into moderatrion, out now.

Lee, I think maybe the Morgan thing was Saints wishing to get as much as they can and us being our normal tight with the purse strings saying we not paying more than X and we not getting into an auction over him. We wait it out and see who budges first.

Maybe Morhan wants us maybe he will go to the Mancs if they pay him big wages. We will soon see.

  12. Tai says:

    Ok, Wath…

Yeah, Goonster…sure did, especially Sanchez’s penalty.

Aresene doesn’t believe the next invincibles shouldn’t include Wilshere and Ramsey…none of them for sale as long as Wenger remains the manager!

  13. C says:

Good Morning to the Man about the House and all fellow Gooners in residence.

Wath – Good article, it expresses a lot of my sentiments about over-hyped, overpriced, overpaid and overrated players with giant egos.

Arsenal have a good vibe going in a very cohesive team. All we need is two or three key players to make us true championship contenders. I’m feeling confident we’ll get them, but maybe not before the season kicks off.

As for Schneiderlin, Arsene may want him, but he will not pay over his valuation for him. I’m sure he also has a number of alternates (e.g. Bender, Carvalho, etc) if he is beaten to the punch. Sotton may be more realistic about his price if he is still unsold by August. Arsene is a patient negotiator and will be willing to wait.

Meanwhile, rumour has it that Judas Van Pursestrings wants ManUre to pay out his contract if he is to move teams. If true, that will definitely prove he is a money hungry mercinary.

  14. Dick Swiveller says:

Ha, so it was. My stream wasn’t brilliant, so it looked like he just sidefooted it; in my defence, it was only a little chip.

  15. Tai says:

Robin van Persie? A big lesson to all footballers…he lost legendary status in Arsenal…won’t ever be considered a Man U legend…managed one trophy, a season out of Champions League and now surplus to requirements…whereas the Olivier Giroud that replaced him now has two trophies, alaways in the UCL and gradually playing himself into legendary status at Arsenal…TIMES CHANGE!

  16. C says:

Wath – Sorry about that. I inadvertently hit the ‘Post Comment’ button before I’d finished entering my handle.

  17. Canadian Gooner says:

Stan – Sorry to hear the little one is under the weather.

Hang in there, things will get better and she should remember that her Dad did a lot more for her than her friend’s dads did for them. It will pay dividends in the years to come.

  18. Canadian Gooner says:

Tai – Times change, but a skunk is still a skunk. Rico calls him a badger, but I think skunk is more appropriate. That will be two clubs where he wont be welcome.

  19. Canadian Gooner says:

Are the Dippers going to have any of last season’s first string players left? What is it now, seven or eight new players,

If they don’t have a great preseason, they are going to struggle in the start to the BPL. That is a lot of players to integrate into a new squad. Especially if their purchases are mostly duds like last summer’s buys. My only worry about all this is if Brenda screws up royally, Liverfool FC might bring in a capable coach Klopp. Anyway, I anticipate some comic relief from them at the start of the season.

  20. allezkev says:

    Afternoon All

Blimey, that was a bit of a miserable post…

    Oh, it was from Wath…

Er, it was very very good mate…. 🙂

  21. Wath says:

CG, I think the dippers are doing what they did last season and as you say trying to incorporate so many new players is not easy..! They could either do really well if they lucky or completely go tits up….. They have spend lots of money the last two seasons and will be paying over the odds wages wise to make up for non champions league footie I reckon. Lots of expectations from fans and owner a like…!

  22. agirlagunner says:

    Hello, all!!! 🙂

I read the comments, yesterday, and I thought for a moment that this was a chatroom for people with erm… unorthodox tendencies to say the least. 😀

    rico won’t be pleased!!

  23. goonster says:

Hahahahahahah kev wath is a shit writer. I ll do better with less resources 😀 don’t know why rico didn’t pick me or adam. I demand an explanation rico.

  24. allezkev says:

Good point re: Sneiderlin, as long as he hasn’t signed for ManUre or anyone else, he is still available for us, never mind what is claimed on NewsNow….

  25. allezkev says:

Stan, ha ha ha, don’t upset ‘cheerful Charlie’ whatever you do…. 😀

    Hiya Agag…

  26. Canadian Gooner says:

Good Afternoon AGAG. Do you still have your nose to the grindstone with your new job?

  37. allezkev says:

I did have a bit of a funny turn yesterday as it goes…

Maybe it was that second bacon sandwich I had… 🙂

  38. Canadian Gooner says:

Hi Agag hope life is good for you hope work is not interfering with you enjoying the rest of your life.
But I know that’s harder said than done 🙂

  40. Canadian Gooner says:

AGAG – You could send some of that rain my way. We had a mild dry winter and a mild dry spring. So, the forest fire rating is high to extreme. We’ve been breaking temperature records regularly and precipitation records (i.e. lack there of). I’ve just shut all the windows, curtains and blinds as it starting to warm up. It took me all night to cool the house down and today is supposed to be a scorcher.

  41. goonster says:

Pah veggies smheggies I ll have a roast bullfrog if I can find one right now. Tastiest meat thus side of judgement day. Hey joe what’s good my man.

  42. goonster says:

  43. agirlagunner says:

Happy to send some some typhoons over, CG. 😛

Joe, I like Florida; weather is exactly like in Manila. 😀

  44. agirlagunner says:

A friend of mine was recently in Palawan (beaches galore, btw), goonie, she tried the local delicacy, tamilok (woodworm eaten raw), and then have food poisoning. So much for being adventurous with food.

  45. tsgh says:

Howdy Agag… Frog legs? 🙂 very chicken like indeed.

Wath… what’s all the tosh you have been writing? 😛

  46. joe says:

I like it as well as you know I am a big kid I love a good theme park oh as for the shopping.

  47. goonster says:

Ts wath actually outdid himself today. Yesterday’s was utter tosh. It was cringe worthy 😀

  48. agirlagunner says:

Joe, you’d love Japan. 🙂 All those theme parks!! 😉

Giiinge, your boy Biglia had a stinker last night. 😀

Goonie, maybe you’d like to write something for HH??

  49. goonster says:

Agag if I ever write a post for HH trust me weeks later you guys ll still be posting comments on it. It ll break the Internet 😀 I ll die a legend.

  50. tsgh says:

Indeed Agag. Biliga is a poor man Makalele.

You know what just copies his post from 2 years ago and changes the names. lol

  51. goonster says:

Ts it ll be to die for. We ll break the 1000 comments barrier 😀 waiting for rico to say the word.

  52. agirlagunner says:

They even have a DIsney Sea, joe. 😉

Ginge, haha on Biglia. Not Vidal’s best match last night. But he had a great tournament, overall. 🙂

Put your money where your mouth is, Goonie. 😀 😛

    Hey, Lee!!

  53. goonster says:

Ts Charles aranguiz is the shit. While everyone was clamoring for vidal I have secretly been smiling evilly in the hope that arsene had his eyes on the wrong chilean. He’s too good for the Brazilian league. What a player.

  54. joe says:

Hi tsgh the way I see it we currently have 2 spots within the 25 man squad with poldi and Diaby gone do you think the club will up grade does positions with better players.

  55. tsgh says:

Agreed Joe. We need a winger but maybe Serge and Ox can do a decent job…
For CDM I have talked about my preferred options for a while now. Kramer/Gonalons or Grzegorz Krychowiac; if we get Morgan great but…
Goonie- I didn’t know about Charles before I went to watch Chile at Wembley 3 years ago.. Vidal was missing and Aranguiz ryn the show

  56. goonster says:

Still don’t understand why he’s still in south America. He’s too good. I watch him rip a team apart in copa sudamericana. He’s like alexis but with steriods. That dude can out last a camel in the desert.

  57. agirlagunner says:

Aranguiz had a great tournament, too. I was surprised, actually. How old is he? He won’t be a bad buy, that’s for sure. But then again, maybe now is not the time to buy him. 😉 Inflated prices and all that.

  58. tsgh says:

Agag- Vidal has ‘flopped’ in almost every final he has played in from B04 days when B04 lost to Bremen in German Cup final

  59. tsgh says:

Aranguiz was Chile’s best player in the world cup…

Can’t understand why he hasn’t been imported to the EPl yet?

Goes to show most scouts get their info from the sun and the mirror newspapers. 🙂

  60. joe says:

Not sure Wenger will spend a large amount of money for backup to Coq when it comes to a CDM.
I agree a winger would suit the team but I haven’t a idea who

  61. Wath says:

Aranguiz is a proper player Ts, he is small but he makes up for it, I mentioned him a few months back and said I like him, small but I’ll make an exception lol

    Shut up Stan

  62. Hell Raising Devil says:

    Good Evening lovelies and hunkies.

Seems that all want to pull your leg Wath. I enjoyed reading your post much as I enjoyed the comments.

Goonie, you muppet…..when are you going to come up with a post????

Deep down I think MS is for our team. He is waiting and AW is waiting. both will wait until the price comes down. I think both have agreed to wait so that Manure will go for someone else and there will be only us left. Which will make a cheaper price.

Even the Italian media are reporting the same as I said.

  63. Hell Raising Devil says:

    Good Morning lovelies and hunkies.

how is the weather up there mates?? here we are going to fry today. temp of up to 35 degrees in the shade…..so that means 40 degrees in sun.

  64. tsgh says:

    Morning Wath, Dev and all..

The Greeks have done a brave deed. 61% of them at least..

Kev’s buddy Boris making news about giving more money to his wealthy buddies… 😉

    A very sunny day; shame have to be in a meeting the best part of the whole day…;
    Only if I could be in Wath’s shoes for a day.. GG on tap;

  65. Wath says:

GG on tap Ts is a blessed thing… Trust me i know lol……….
Another quiet old day on the footie front…. The only post Stan knows Dev is a lamp post…!
