Ozil Out For Longer Than Expected? Giroud Set For Early Return…

Morning all.

If we are to believe what is written in the press, the answer to the question is sadly yes.

Apparently Mesut isn’t happy being played out wide and he’s ready to up sticks in January and head home to Germany with Bayern Munich.

Of course I haven’t a clue whether this story is true but to be honest, I wouldn’t be at all surprised if it was.

The English press have been on his back since he became an Arsenal player, many fans have constantly and consistently been very critical of him and to be fair, his manager has done very little to help his cause by playing him out wide week in week out.

Ok, Ozil isn’t a work horse, he’s not the first player to knuckle down and put in a shift defensively but that’s not his game, no more than it’s been Santi Cazorla’s although we do see moments. Nearly every side has a player who is given a free role, a licence to roam, maybe even to be a luxury and those players are allowed such freedom because in a flash, they can destroy the opposition.

Mesut Ozil is one of those players… Yes, I know he doesn’t always look as if he’s having a fab time out on the pitch but just look at the difference in his body language during the Villa game and we all know why that was…

Arsenal FC made a huge statement when they signed Mesut Ozil and if they turn their back on him in January they will make another one, but for all the wrong reasons!

Arsene Wenger has to make sure this player is happy, he has to play him in his preferred position and he has to make sure he stays!

We need him, Arsenal need him and sure as heck Arsene Wenger needs him!

Danny Welbeck hobbled off down the tunnel during the England match last night but Roy Hodgson has been quick to settle the minds of Arsenal fans:

I think he just rolled it slightly, but the doctors are not concerned about it all.

Just wait until our doctors get hold of him!

Talking of strikers, Olivier Giroud could be back in action sooner than expected after Arsene Wenger confirmed his operation went swimmingly well and he’s ahead of schedule in his recovery. That’s good news.

That’s about it for today, try not to get soaked in this awful weather…..

Morning (again) Rico and all. This whole thing of team balance hasn’t been right for a while has it? I heard that Ozil was going at the end of the season but January could happen I suppose. No doubt BM would want to low-ball us though and I can’t see Wenger wanting to do that.

  2. Joaquim Moreira says:

    first…
yes, yesterday newspapers talked about Ozil and the possibility for be out in January…
but they also talked in Draxler

  3. scottfromoz says:

    Morning all.
No way known we can lose Ozil.
That would be a massive step backwards as far as ambition and perception is concerned.
    Nice post, Rico.

  4. rico says:

    Morning Adam, Jm and all..

I can see him going sadly….

Draxler for £37 million Jm?? Not sure about that one being truth…

  5. scottfromoz says:

Sukky, signing Ozil, Sanchez, Welbexk and Chambers were at least steps in the right direction.
Selling Ozil would totally unravel any good work the club has done.

  6. rico says:

Our recent signings have been top quality, the problem I see is not enough of them and certainly not signed in positions we seriously needed.

As we all know, the balance in the squad is not right…

  7. Joaquim Moreira says:

if we sell Ozil, because he is not integrate and wants to leave the club, and will buy players concern with the team and for balance it, i don´t think will be a step backwards.

  8. rico says:

JM, what about keeping Ozil and playing him central and get rid of Coq, Diaby, Arteta, Flamini and maybe even Rosicky.

Then sign the right players to give us proper balance, depth and strength…

  9. Joaquim Moreira says:

rico, but now we are 9 points away. Of course chelsea and others will drop points like us In December will we see. if we are no more then 5 points, everything is possible.

  10. Wavy says:

Morning all. Good start to the day Rico!
For years Wenger hung his hands over Ozil, long before he went to RM. He bought him, got his man and then played him out of position as a punishment for not signing two or three years earlier! Now,, unhappy Ozil, it would seem has sent out a message that he is unsettled, well there’s a shock! Furthermore, Wenger had the opportunity to repurchase Cesc but declined the offer as we “already have Ozil”. Then three months later, having spurned CF4, we are to lose his replacement! Crazy or what?
I hope this is just a ‘quiet no news time’ story and in no element has any truth in it. If it is just the journo’s having a flight of fancy then annoying though that is we can just move on, but if it is not, and Wenger has pissed off another world class player then the time is rapidly approaching when we give him his gold watch and settle him, comfortably in the retirement home for bonkers managers!

    Morning All,

Any bad news or transfer news about Arsenal sells and the media know it. It’s either they are fast to produce them or fabricate one just to sell.

Ozil has never been on the good side of the media ever since he became an Arsenal player and Wenger is not helping out by playing him out wide

  12. rico says:

    Thanks Wavy.

Xr’s AW could get the media of the back of Ozil in one swift move… Whena nd if he comes back of course…

  13. scottfromoz says:

    That’s good Rico.
He cops it all over the net.
Funny, but the same people criticising also agree Wengers to blame for playing him wide.
    Work that out lol

  14. Xr!s says:

I just pray Chelsea have the kind of slump we had last season. There’s still so much more to play for, this season. Costa cannot stay red-hot all season. One day, that injury will seriously strike him out. He’s so far being Chelsea ‘s Bale and Fabregas the conductor will soon get tired or lose form.

Still waiting for that Mourinho’s trademark dressing room stir

  15. Tope says:

The media have been at özils back from day1. I think we should stop all these assertion that özil is been played on the week week-in-week-out cos if my memory serve me right, he was played at his prefered role throughout last season. Its just this season that wenger is trying new formation. As per the rumour, its totally force.wenger will never buy a player he is been courting years back for 42m only to sell him for 30m.

It’s all too easy sitting on a computer Scott, I think we all see how good Ozil can be when in the middle and left to go where he knows he’ll be effective. Even against Villa when he was central he supplied a great ball from the left for Welbeck. But he needs freedom to make his own decisions in my opinion and not just to be stuck out wide and expected to cover/help a full back…

  18. scottfromoz says:

Rico, I never lose on Xbox 🙂
Ginger said before we got Ozil he’d cop it from fans due to his demeanour on the pitch, and he was right.
Wenger needs to use him the most effective way.
    That’s all…….can’t see why he doesn’t.

  19. rico says:

Agree Scott. Blame Wenger, not the player…. Although he could smile a bit a look like he wants to be playing… 😉

X-box, would that be Sean’s? lol

  20. George says:

    Ozil is going nowhere…

Come January we will sell a few players and bring in no one.

I see Podolski, J Campbell, Afobe and Le Coq being moved on.

We may yet see Bellerin and Hayden feature more come winter. I would like to see Akpom get a chance, but I fear Sanogo will freeze him out and we will loan him elsewhere…

Here’s hoping our Key players stay fit majority of the season, Kroenke does 1 and Shad Forsythe works his magic. This season is already a write off. 4th would be the best we can hope for and hope the yanks buzz off and Dein returns.

  21. frednerk says:

    Afternoon All,
Rumours gathering on Ozil going,Moureen knows something the way he cuddled him after the chavs game.
What worries me is the cover given to Chambers, every game so far…….his got booked,
its impossible to defend one on one every game,
the boy has done well not getting sent off most of them games….
    Has it been addressed……………………..No
    Chambers misses next game…….
    What is wenger watching?

  22. TONYBEE (@TBINJ) says:

ozil moving on dont see that happening. We need cover in our defence come January to mount a challenge to fini
    sh in d top 4

  23. rico says:

Hi Fred, the Chambers shoving and pushing is a worry, you’d like to think Bould or Wenger will have a word in his ear…

  24. George says:

    Rico,

    Bold statement, very likely though…

Would love to have our strongest annihilate Chelski and see Mourihno’s fae…

They are looking good, and we are all over the shop.

Still, think we will just about muster top 4 again. We are better than the Dippers and Manure but miles off City and Chelski

  25. allezkev says:

Bayern Munchen are one of the most efficiently run football clubs in the world.

I cannot think of another club who spends it’s limited resources more intelligently than Bayern.

Their record of buying players’, getting the maximum for them and re-selling them, is beyond compare.

Bayern rarely spend mega-money on players.
Bayern very rarely buy poor players.

Bayerns judgement in player acquisition is quite outstanding…

If Arsenal sell Mesut Ozil to Bayern, for say £30m, then I believe that Ozil will go onto to have much success in Bavaria and Arsenal/Wenger, will look very very stupid…

  26. Wath says:

You think it just needs Ozil to go to Bayern to make Wenger look very very stupid Kev….?

Thought he did a good job of that already……..

  27. Wavy says:

    Absolutely right Kev.
Wenger’s history of dealing with his ‘stars’ does not read well. Arshavin, Viera, Henry, Pires etc when they were carping about things, he ground their faces in the dust, metaphorically speaking, and it seems he is playing the same game with Ozil. It may be a power or domination game, “I’m the boss, your the hired help” whilst simultaneously twisting the knife in the back of the would be submissive players. Wenger the egoist! And failed player!!! V the ‘star’
As for Bayern you are right there too Kev, largely because they are run by ex-employees who have a real connection with the club, the fans, the players and the city, not like the Arsenal! A stranger who owns the club and is about to start milking the club as his own personal cash cow, a board of directors who are completely without nous or ambition, and an ever decreasing and disillusioned fan base who are showing signs of financial meltdown. It can’t go on much longer. We should adopt some of Bayern’s finer characteristics and then maybe we would hold on to our best players. And perhaps we should find a coach who is less partial to some of his squad whilst being totally dismissive of others and seemingly contemptuous of them too! And finally, the fans may be happier!

  28. allezkev says:

    Hi Wath, Wavy, Rico…

Yep, pretty much agree with all of you…

Things might have turned out better if Walcott had been fit, I kinda saw A combo of Ozil and Walcott as fairly lethal, but with the lumbering Giroud up top, Ozil was wasted, then dumped on the wing…

Selling Ozil, would also only show up even more, the poor judgement Wenger showed in not signing Fabregas…

If Wenger wanted a wide midfielder, why spend £42.4 million on a classic No.10..?

Go and buy a proper wing-forward you dopey French clot!

No doubt, if LeGenius signs Draxler, he’ll play him as a defensive-mid… 🙄

  29. sukky says:

Re Wenger on signing both ronaldo and messi and still not win the league. He will play messi as a wide player and ronaldo as his no 10.he’s tactically poor and his team selection really suck.We fans knows that wilshere, carzola and ozil can’t play together because wilshere is tactically poor and lack positional awareness, that’s why he got stuck in between opposition. And limiting the space ozil and carzola needs to operate but Wenger doesn’t care,he uses the same working(winning) 11.If I were Wenger,Vermaelen wouldn’t have left us because as good as par was last season, his lack of pace still cost us in some game last season, vermaelen would have slotted in and do a nice job in those matches but Wenger always stick with the winning team.Wenger is far from who he use to be,am used to it,are you?

  30. rico says:

Hi Kev, sorry I nipped off…

So typical of AW eh, sign a player and try and make him fit rather than sign him and play him where he’ll perform at his best….

  31. Adam says:

Rico. It is one of the strangest things about Wenger. He is obviously super bright, yet he does such unfathomable things.

  32. martin wengrow says:

The first loss is the best loss. Arsenal must take any decent offer for Ozil in January. It’s likely he will never hack it in the Premiership.

  33. Adam says:

If you hear apiece of music that you like, perhaps on the radio, you just open Shazam, it listens for a few seconds and then tells you the name of the piece, who is playing or singing and the album it is from. It’s free and very neat.

  34. rico says:

Our radio tells us that whilst it’s playing Adam.. Lol

Sounds really good though, not being able to identify the piece and artist etc sometimes drives me nuts….

  35. Adam says:

There you go. It’s well worth having. :). I just tried it on a Beethoven piano pice and it got it straight away.

  36. rico says:

But I don’t want to download too many things Adam, otherwise I get a message saying ‘not enough storage’ like I keep getting on my iPhone….

  37. Adam says:

You can keep track of that in Settings Rico. You must be loaded up to get that message. The next time I drop by we can have a look around your machine and see what’s happening perhaps 🙂

  38. Adam says:

I am going west quite soon Rico. I will let you know. Have a lovely evening. For iPad queries you should text me. Night Rico. 🙂

  39. kene says:

Morning all. Ozil to Bayern is a mumbo- jumbo bulls**t from the media. It has that unreal quality of a malaria induced dream…. Wenger shoving Mou was the positive of the Chelsea-Arsenal game. Somehow,I feel Emirates would see the best of our team when they take on Chelsea and I’d like to watch Wenger cuddle Fabregas after beating Chelsea.

  40. Wavy says:

And here! Rain, rain go away,
    Come again another day!

It looks like another Stavanger day!

Will the syrup and his side kick, gazetteer rain on our parade?
Of course they will, but with outrageous promises for the future, but nothing ever happens!
It makes you wonder why they bother having “public” meetings at all.

  41. Lee says:

Virgil van Dijk will be the saviour…….Wenger going to play him in Ozil’s true position! No 10 that is…………….

  42. Adam says:

Just watched the Gazidis interview. No question that he is a superb PR man and what he ‘says’ is excellent. But while he states all the things that the club are in the process of doing he wasn’t asked the glaring questions about the squad and the deficiencies that most of us have been pointing out for years now. The questions were obviously pre prepared and agreed but somebody needs to ask what the hell is happening with the first team injury situation and where are the players we so desperately need to compete?
I am afraid it is a lot of froth and ‘jam tomorrow’ once again. Far too many mistakes being made at first team level.

  43. Adam says:

I thought that Gazidis being interviewed in a box, plusher than most supporter’s living rooms, said a lot. 🙂

  44. Lee says:

I remember you saying that Brudder.
The oracle (paper salesman at Kelvedon Stn) reckons much more heavier rain tomorrow than we’ve already had! Sweet!
