Morning all.

Jack Wilshere has admitted a Football Association charge over an abusive hand gesture towards Man City fans but will contest a mandatory two-game ban if that’s what he is awarded, according to the BBC. I’m not surprised either asΒ Luis Suarez was suspended for just one match, fined Β£20,000 and warned as to his future conductΒ after admitting a chargeΒ of improper conduct back in 2011.

What’s good for the goose and all that………

The Guardian report that Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has pencilled in January 4th for his return which is of course the day we face the neighbours in the FA Cup at The Emirates. Talking of that lot, The Mirror report that they have contacted Frank De Boer in relation to being their next manager. Should he accept the offer, which I hope he doesn’t, Dennis Bergkamp might be ready to follow him out the door. The perfect replacement for Liam Brady I’d say… He loves England and he loves Arsenal.

With Christmas just around the corner, some of the Arsenal players made their annual festive visit to children at the Whittington Hospital yesterday afternoon, no doubt putting big smiles on the face of the youngsters.

This year captainΒ Thomas Vermaelen,Β Lukas Podolski,Β Per Mertesacker,Β Santi Cazorla,Β Mikel ArtetaΒ andΒ Wojciech SzczesnyΒ made the visit to patients and their parents whilst playing Santa along the way.

From the present to the past….

A fine bunch....

A fine bunch….

What a fine bunch eh?

Oh to have them all back playing in their prime again. We’d have two top class defenders, two outstanding strikers and the same amount of top class goalkeepers. Although that could be questioned as Jens had many a mad moment.

They are all together toΒ celebrate the launch ofΒ ‘Arsenal Legends: Thierry Henry’, the incredible new documentary about the Club’s greatest ever goalscorer.

He was good wasn’t he and it was never a surprise really that he would go on and become the clubs highest ever goalscorer. Wrighty totted up a good number too during his career with us.

It took Henry 254 appearances to score his 174 goals goals for Arsenal and Wrighty scored his 128 goals in his 221 appearances. Both average out to have scored more than one goal in every other game, a statistic not many strikers back during their playing days could match, let alone beat.

I’m not sure their are many who can beat either these days, other than the likes of Messi and Ronaldo. The latter has averaged more than one goal per game since joining Real Madrid. Very impressive but I’m not convinced that the Spanish league, especially outside the top 3/4 sides, is anywhere near as strong as in the Premier League.

Many a strikers name is being mentioned at the moment as we need to add one to our squad in January and statistics can make a player look very good but in reality, they are scoring their high number of goals against ‘easier’ opposition defences.

Look at Luis Suarez, he scores for fun and is the man every football fan would love to see at their club, I know I would love to see him at ours but when he came up against our strong defence, he couldn’t fine the net, neither could his strike partner Sturridge who is also having a rosy season. Well, he was until injury struck.

The moral of this post?

Arsene Wenger would be better off to go and make a list of all the strikers who love to score against us, and sign one of them…

If only it was that simple eh……

That’s your lot for another day……
