No time for Theo Walcott……..

Wednesday night showed that Theo Walcott can be at his best when he doesn’t have so much time to think. His control and finish was sheer class and well done to him too – the game needed something and he gave it that night.

When he sits on the wing and gets surrounded by defenders he struggles, so why put him in that position?

Walcott started this season on fire then injury did what it always does to him and that’s knock him back. He didn’t walk straight back into the side once he’d recovered and hasn’t really got himself back into Wengers thoughts, well, so it seems.

Does Wednesday’s goal show he deserves a start against the Mancs on Monday? He’s certainly up for this game, big time.
The Mancs haven’t lost a game yet this season, goodness knows how though as they are far from playing their best football. They struggled midweek and in my opinion they are a side ready to take a good beating – this is possibly the best time of the season for us to be travelling to Old Trafford, we are pretty good on the road right now.

We need Walcott’s goal on Wednesday to have rejuvenated him and if that proves to be the case then he really could be the key man against old red noses side, along with Samir Nasri of course!

Walcott has been talking ahead of this game and the potential trip to Spain in the Champions League.

We must go to Old Trafford and play without fear. We must enjoy ourselves and express ourselves, then our best performance will come out. United are not playing their best but are still there. They haven’t lost.

Hopefully, we won’t catch them on a good day because, right now, they are not playing well but are still second in the league. Our away form in the league is fantastic at the moment. We find it quite comfortable.
This is another test for us – a big test – but we did it at Manchester City and, hopefully, can do it up there again.

We hardly picked up any points against the bigger clubs last season but, this term, everyone is beating each other and matches can go either way. And the way we are playing away from home, we can beat anyone. Hopefully, we can be the first to beat United as we need to get a few points ahead.

These are the games when you see United step up. I don’t know how Rio Ferdinand is – I will have to drop him a few texts to see how he is getting along – but it will be nice if he misses the game!

We may play fantastic football but if you don’t put the ball in the back of the net, you’re not going to win.
This season, though, we are scoring goals – especially away. When we score three or four, we tend to win.

Being 21, I want to be starting games. I want to show the boss what I can do and he probably has a headache for Monday’s game. So fingers crossed, I can look forward to it – as these are the games you always want to play in.

I’ve never started at Old Trafford so it would be another milestone for me. We need to get something there.

It’s good to hear Walcott being positive, it’s good to hear he’s desperate to play and without having a moan but whether he starts on Monday or not remains to be seen. I’d love to see him play him through the middle with Chamakh and scare the heck out of a dodgy Ferdinand but with Robin van Persie back, I doubt that will happen.

Of course Walcott is right though and we all know that if we can’t put the ball in the net we won’t win but if we keep conceding silly goals, we won’t win that way either! Also we do tend to win when we score three or four but it’s about time we started to win when we are only able to score one or two and the only way this will happen is by sorting out the defensive unit.

Will that ever happen – How long is a piece of string?

Will Monday see us spring a surprise, will we do to them what they did to us and end their unbeaten run?

I hope so……

We are going to appeal the Silva decision but what a surprise fifa doing a u’turn eh…. complete bunch of knobs…!

    Morning rico.

I have strong views about Theo.

Walcott was transferred to Arsenal on 20 January 2006, for a fee of £5 million, rising to £12 million depending on appearances for club and country. This was reduced to 9.2 million in 2008 and in March he will be 22.
He has publically declared his favoured position is a central one, and the first time it was shown to good effect was when Eduardo tragically broke his leg at birmingham, and Theo scored 2 excellent goals.

Naturally like so many of our players he has had injuries, but his shoulder injuries are hereditory and were not picked up when he first had his medical.

To continue to be an impact sub, cannot be sustained for much longer.

He seems a level headed lad,and we payed a lot for his services, yet even allowing for the hype of going to the WC at the tender age of 16,this must still give huge expectation of him by the fans.

I thought at the beginning of this season he was maturing and advancing in his skills, but the injury put him back again. He was woeful against Fulham yet when he came on against Partizan he showed coolness to score what wasn’t an easy goal.I think the fans are divided about him, and as time goes on,many think we have bought a dud.

If he doesn’t get regular football soon I can see him leaving, yet I am not sure if that would be a good or bad thing for him or the club.

PS: did you get my e mail about bribery etc.

Hi WATH, i’m really naffed off about Wellington, when will we know about the appeal decision, any idea?

They have probably overturned it as we sit top of the league, they’d hate us to win something…

    Hi kelsey,

i’m a big fan of Theo and I still believe he will turn out to be a class player, however, I only feel this will happen when he finally gets played in the right place. He’s not a winger, he’s a striker and the sooner Wenger puts into practice what he said he will do with Theo we will see the same up and down play from him….

He’s no longer a kid and wenger needs to show some trust in him, the beginning of the season showed us what he can do, he can’t get back into that groove if his bum sits on the bench…. grrr 😉

fIRSTLY , in whose wisdom was it in the FA or PM to fix this game for MOnday?

That is an odd day why not Sunday? Now i have to watch every other club all weekend then MOnday Monday Moanday for our game. 😐

hi t…i am sure our players have taken note – i think samir may have even said something in response.

me, i can care less what evra says – very, very easy to talk, especially to french media. evra is a mutineer, nothing more. in ten years, that is how he will still be remembered.

  9. SD-London says:

I think he is worried that our players might be growing in confidence with the way they were not worried that we came second in our CL group

    Could Evra be scared ?

  10. T-buzz says:

I think he is and might be trying to play psychology as he’s scared of the phenomenon that is Sammy Nasrrrii!!

  11. rico says:

All tip top thanks T-buzz, how’s you??

I took the laptop back where i got if from, quick hoover and polish and all seems to be fine, i felt quite insulted when the guy said he had to clean it, i am quite house proud 😉

    huff huff… 😉

Afternoon all.i’ve just read an interesting interview by leading dutch fitness coach Verheijen.he has said that players are doing excessive training nowadays and this has led to more injuries.according to him explosive players like rvp10 use up more energy during a game and if there is fatigue in the body such players are likely to snap a ligament somewhere and get injured.he referenced robben who was a glass man at chelsea but rarely got injured at bayern last year playing his best football of his career.

  13. oliver says:

legend has it that arsene valued his crackberry so much, he left it in london during last year’s world cup?

    i prefer iphone, myself…

  14. K-TR7 says:

Hi ricodinho?hope you’re ok.rvp10 has evolved into a CF and thats why he struggled abit in cesc’s role.his fitness though isn’t up to scratch.

  15. Red Arse says:

    Afternoon Rico, Guys. 🙂

I haven’t changed my mind re Theo.

He has all the attributes to be first class, and he has shown this in short spells like with the goal he scored on Wednesday, but he also often disappoints.

As Kelsey says, it is not good enough for him to still be an enigma at 21.

I would love him to prove us wrong, but AW obviously has some reservations about him, and that’s why he rarely gets a start, but is used mostly as an impact substitute.

  16. K-TR7 says:

RA I couldn’t have put it any better re theo.he and bale are the same type of player but bale has learnt to be more consistent with his deliveries.

  17. kelsey says:

Barca only get 15 million this season, so forget about cesc for at least 2 years.the have massive debts and those have to be cleared first.

Why couldn’t they play our game on sunday, it’s a bit much for the away fans, which in this case is 95% of people attending 🙂

  18. kelsey says:

I know this is basics, but footballers of the highest calibre should consistently be able to cross a ball fairly accurately, shoot between the sticks more regularly. Is it the ball? The amount of misplaced shoots that often end up near the corner flag is alarming.

  19. Red Arse says:

    KT,

I would never be rude about your Posts, they are too good! 🙂

There was an odd feeling among most fans after that game. Exhileration at the win, disappointment at the performance.

  20. Red Arse says:

    KT,

Whatever I think about Eboue in general, his warm up routine shows amazing athletic “rubberyness”. 🙂

In fairness he made a fantastic left wing shuffle, to beat their right back, followed by an outside of the right foot cross that should have resulted in a goal.

Pity this skill is only glimpsed in flashes, a bit like Theo really. 🙂

  21. K-TR7 says:

The perfomance was dreadful.part of that was because of rvp10 was playing cesc’s role.although he tried by covering the most ground,11.6km,he struggled as he couldn’t link link the midfield and the attack.he was at times too high up suffocating space AA and nasri run into.Song and denilson also failed in passing the ball to our forwards showing just how vital jacky boy has become to our team…i’ll stop now before you all go zzzzzz…

  22. rico says:

kelsey, not as well as Widdie 🙂

KT, we don’t see that enough, he’s a hit and miss player, just like so many in our squad..

  23. kelsey says:

    KT,
Wenger admitted he made a mistake with Chamakh/RVP so called partnership. My feeling is that it wasn’t a game to experiment, technically we needed to win.

  24. rico says:

kelsey, is there much talk in Spain about Almunia? Many a tale going round that he’s approached Wenger and said he wants to go home….

  25. K-TR7 says:

Rico im used to seeing only goals we concede in sky sports.the messi foursome and shrek counter were shown repeatedly.

  26. kelsey says:

I know rico, and i am not surprised and today there are strong links he will go to lowly Malaga,my local club, which seems more feasible than Athletico.malaga hava a new sheikh backing them,so probably the money would be better.

When the official site says almunia has a problem with his elbow it means he has been given the elbow.

We all have short memories, but mad jens wasn’t that bad was he ?

  27. rico says:

I read Atletico have lost interest kelsey, i’m not so surprised either, he’s supposed to be wantimng to go home for further treatmen, but your ‘been given the elbow’ seems more likely….

Jens, he was not my favourite keeper, i still blame him for 2006 CL, where as most blame Almunia…

  28. K-TR7 says:

AW has said Al has no agent so all rumours of him leaving are utter nonsense…Aw has also said AA doesn’t frustrate him as he is a risk taker and gambles alot.sometimes he looks poor but for most part this year he has been sublime.he has the highest number of assists in the PL for a reason.

  29. rico says:

KT, i tend to disagree, regardless of whether he has an agent, he knows his number is up at Arsenal, i honestly believe he will leave in January…
