No excuses, just get on with it!

Ok, let’s start with the team news – defenders Johan Djourou and Laurent Koscielny both return after injury as does Squillaci! Mind you, I hope the last of those three has no need to feature today. Actually, make that any day… 😉

We all know the players who are injured but thankfully, two of them should be back soon and that’s Vermaelen and Diaby.

Sunderland full-back Phil Bardsley is banned and as we already know, Nicklas Bendtner ineligible to face us. Last season in the same fixture, Sunderland managed to take all that was thrown at them and go away with a point!

We have had a shocking start to the season and today’s opponents have had an equally dreadful one, in fact yesterday I read an article in which Steve Bruce said that all the flack Wenger is getting for our start, has eased the pressure on the other managers down the bottom of the table. Good eh!

So, Sunderland and their start:

They have played against all three of the new boys and haven’t beaten any of them. Added to that they have been beaten by the Geordie boys at home and along the way, have already been knocked out of the Carling Cup!

On top of all that, Asamoah Gyan decided to go AWOL and stay there!

They are no pushover though, they battered Stoke and grabbed a more than deserved point at Anfield, so they are not to be taken lightly, despite the fact that they are below us in the league!

Mind you, there aren’t many below us in the league!!

In the last six fixtures with Sunderland, we have won just the once, drawn four and lost one but Sunderland have not beaten us at home since 1983.

Us, well we all know what has happened so far, so I’m not going to bother repeating it!

You know what, I feel like I write the same old same old before a game, I try and motivate, try and be positive but sometimes, it all get’s a bit repetitive and boring.

Some choose to bury their head in the sand and think that all is rosy and this run we are having is just a blip! They believe that the next game will kick-start our season, they even suggest that ‘this is when our season starts’, well it’s all poppycock in my opinion, this isn’t a blip, this has been on going since the beginning of 2011.

Our season started on the same day as every other club, not eight weeks later but at some stage we really need to start winning, I hope that day is today.….

We are facing Sunderland FC today, not Manchester City or Chelsea, you know the ones that so many fans suggest we ‘cannot financially compete with’ – no, today we play on a level playing field, with no excuse….

So Arsenal, just get on with it and let’s see how we do shall we?

    Morning all

If we don’t get maximum points today it will finally be the last nail in the coffin for even the most ardent AKB members. After having seen on other blogs how many of them are starting to loose faith and question his sanity it looks like his fan base is fast eroding.
If we win on the other hand I will be ecstatic of course. I wont us win at all cost but this is a win win situation though. We win we get 3 points they win he moves nearer to the exit.

  2. terry says:

we are goin to win today… sunderland are a very weak side and with out nikki b it sshould be easy for us. onli concern is the right side of defence… especially richardson can create problems for us.

  3. devilgunner says:

I do not give a rat’s arse who stays or goes, its the win I want. I want us to win all the remaining games till the end of May. Whether its AW or anyone does not matter. Its that ARSENAL WIN which matters.

  4. devilgunner says:

In the ideal world the table at the end of the season would read

    ARSENAL P38 W38 D0 L0 F38 A0 pts 114. Position 1st

Do I care if we get called boring?? Honestly I do not. Do I care if we score and shut up shop?? I do not either.

  5. rico says:

That would be perfect, but that is never going to happen devil, but that should certainly be the aim…

I’d take 1-0 every game, if we could learn to shut up shop, we’d be made but we haven’t been able to do that for too long…

  6. terry says:

larsson has been in good form… his crossing is very good…
wickham will striker and they will bomb crosses into our box our right and left backs need to close down their wings their creativity is nothing from the middle.
lee cattermole will hussle our midfield and wil put in some dirty tackles.
i think if close thier play from the wings we can easily defeat them also theos pace will be vital …
strong feeling we will win today comfortably… all we need is good movement upfront from gerviniho and walcott and good def wrk from kozzer and santos on the wings …

  7. agirlagunner says:

Boo!! rico, I quite like your reminder that “Our season started on the same day as every other club, not eight weeks later but at some stage we really need to start winning, I hope that day is today…”

No more hiding behind injuries; no more half-hearted performances; you’re right, no more excuses. Come on you gunners! Let’s win this!! 🙂

  8. devilgunner says:

The boss should instruct whoever plays up front to close down their full backs, that is Gervinho to close down their right back and Walcott their left back. If RVP pressurizes their centrhalves Sunderland will not venture once out of their own half. In that way the team will cut the supply from the back and resort to long balls which will fall nicely for whoever is playing at the back.

  9. Joaquim Moreira says:

    hi1
    I’m watching the rugby
Later, football time. Meanwhile, concentration, sport and leisure.
    Come on Arsenal!

  10. goonster says:

Hi guys really looking forward to the game. Hope we win though cause sesegnon versus our full backs scares the bejesus out of me. Hi ya agag, long time.

  11. goonster says:

And someone needs to tell chesny to beware of larson’s freekick. That kid can hit them well. Keep larson quiet, stifle sesegnon and run circles around bramble and we “might” win!

  12. agirlagunner says:

RvP needs to have a blinder, if recent performances are anything to go by, he’s the only one in the team capable of it. 😉

Hello, DG, how are you? Hey, goonster. Not up to any mischief-making, I hope. Perish “might” from your mind. We “shall” win this. If our season is to be saved, we have to! 🙂

  13. devilgunner says:

Morning AGAG. Feeling a lot better than lately. But I still wished I was really whacked by Mike Tyson. That would have earned me around 3 to 5 million at least. And it would have set me up for life.
As it is I am only feeling AS IF whacked by Tyson and the shame is that it renders me nothing but 4 days locked inside and having to pay the doctor and medicine.

    U ok AGAG???

  14. goonster says:

Even with a more superior team agag we didn’t beat them last season. We threw the game away at the last second when clishit and kozzer refuses to clear the ball. At the EMS we played like school boys it was embarrassing to watch. No other team in the last decade has had a win snatched from them than THE ARSENAL and guess what the trend continues. Blackburn anyone? Am just saying wenger has built a team filled with bottlers who can’t hold their cojones in the face a little pressure.

  15. agirlagunner says:

Haha, DG. Boxers earn mad money even when they lose. Good to hear you are better. Excited about our match. 🙂 There should be fewer and shorter international breaks.

goonster, go back to bed on roll out from the right side! 😀 But, I do agree with the bottler bit. Our players certainly make it hard for themselves, sometimes. 🙁

  16. goonster says:

Tell me about it agag…we need more wilsheres and less denilsons in that team. I can only point to 4 winners in our team sagna verm wilshere and RVP. The rest are bottlers not fit to wear the red and white….excluding the new imports. I ll give them time before I pass judgment on them. I believe merts santos artera and park ll come good.

  17. agirlagunner says:

Already, you’re more positive, goonster. I like the look of Santos, Arteta has Cesc-sized boots to fill, and is dong a creditable job, I think. We are missing the spark of Jack’s creative play; hopefully, Diaby can return and make a difference. (gulps)

Chesney, I’m not quite sold on. I think leaking 8 goals in a game is not a particularly encouraging stat in our number 1. Many will say that he was not at fault for most of them, but still…

  18. goonster says:

Agag keeping goal with JD kozzer jenk and traore in defense. Chesny is world class already. He kept us in the games against spurs udinese and newcastle to mention a few. He kept out messi at the EMs….I believe with quite a few gooners sharing my view that had he finished that away leg at barca we could have progressed!

  19. goonster says:

Good to see to robin come out and dispel the rumors linking him away from the emirates. Like I said yesterday I see bergy in him! RVP=LEGEND! COYGS

  20. rico says:

Hi again all, chores done and i’m ready for ko 🙂

Glad you liked it agag, and yes, no more excuses, get on with doing what we do and stop hiding behind a ref, a linesman, or any other excuse..

Play football, play as a team, play with heart and pride, maybe then we will get a win…..

  21. Shahr says:

Time for excuse is over. Wenger has been given plenty of time .If he fails to do it,I’ m afraid he will will have th to pay the price just like other managers. The only differenceis he could have been fired much earlier.

  22. goonster says:

This would be my line up for today’s match….chesny jenk mert kozzer gibbs song arteta ramsey walcott RVP and gervinho….I ll bring in santos for gervinho in the second half. Then AOC or park for theo.

  23. rico says:

Great new re RvP, you are spot on goonster

“I want to say something about my commitment to Arsenal because there have been many stories in the media lately,” said Van Persie.

“I am committed to Arsenal, and that’s how it is, despite people [in the media] making up stories. For example, they said I was selling my house, but that’s nothing recent, I moved house last year.

“I see stories which make me laugh, but I can see how frustrating it is from the fans’ point of view. But I am committed to Arsenal. I am captain, and fans should not believe everything they read.

“As for that house story, the house has been for sale for a while, but I’m not living on the streets or anything, I have found a really nice house, and yes, it’s in London! So I want to put that straight, I am committed, and I will show that on the pitch.”

  24. goonster says:

Its a she? What breed? Mine’s a greyhound and its 9 shaggy almost dying…me pals jokingly said we should eat it for xmas. What a tool..lol

  25. goonster says:

Wow rico you won’t play ramsey? I thought he did well during the international break…..I ll still play him though. Benny hmmm now how did I forget him…oh well I ll stick with my line up.

  26. goonster says:

Hey WATH….how are doing? How’s the family? Yeah WATH but I ll rather have rico at the helm than our current manager….you know what I mean. Rico is a gooner first and last and she ll know what to do when the board hands her a measly 8 million pounds to buy two messis and one ronaldo!

  27. goonster says:

Sure rico but you might be forced to get shitvetre on a free! While you sco scowl barca’s la masia academy for cheap fixes.

  28. devilgunner says:

As usual I will go for 4-4-1-1.

    Chesney
    Jenks, Mertesacker,Koscielny,Gibbs
    Ramsey, Arteta,Song,Santos
    RVP
    Walcott

It is solid. While I agree with you Rico, that neither Walcott nor Ramsey have delivered for the club it might be that they are used in a bad position at the moment for them. I would put Theo up front while Ramsey can help balancing the midfield four and has a good cross while he can also help Jenks. It would also help Ramsey to be moved from the middle and thus off from the spotlight in being compared to Cesc.

  29. rico says:

    Certainly wouldn’t goonster

Is Ramsey the right one to help out Jenks though devil?

Maybe he’ll start both Coq and Song?

Actually, why do we guess, we all know AW will stick by 433 with same old old same old, all but Jenks anyway….

  30. rico says:

    Team in full:

Szczesny, Jenkinson, Mertesacker, Koscielny, Gibbs, Song, Arteta, Rosicky, Walcott, Gervinho, Van Persie.

    Substitutes:

Fabianski, Andre Santos, Djourou, Frimpong, Arshavin, Benayoun, Park.

  31. devilgunner says:

Team in full: Szczesny, Jenkinson, Mertesacker, Koscielny, Gibbs, Song, Arteta, Rosicky, Walcott, Gervinho, Van Persie.

Substitutes: Fabianski, Andre Santos, Djourou, Frimpong, Arshavin, Benayoun, Park.

  32. devilgunner says:

are we on the same wavelength Rico?? We seem to have posted the same lineup letter for letter at the same time.

  33. allezkev says:

    Afternoon Gooners.
That was a rallying cry of a post Rico.
    You tell em.. 🙂
    Just going to the ground.
    Interesting team.
    Ramsey injured?

  34. devilgunner says:

yes I hope it is around the 60th minute mark and not the 89th minute. Personally I always feel its insulting to a player to be bought on for the last 3 minutes. Although they are professional I do feel for them. They wont have time to fart let alone be decisive or help the team.

  35. W.A.T.H says:

I think Ramsey been carrying an injury for a few games the boy needs a rest…!

Least no Chamahk as well nor squilli….!

Thought Rosicky was injured as well, another one thrown back in at the deep end ??? suppose time will tell…!

Should be good enough on paper but we don’t play on paper eh….!

I’m with you Rico you know I’d be playing 4-4-2 all day long…..

I’m good Stan how’s you matey…. Hope we win and you don’t have to stress to much or feel like cutting wrists…!

    Chat lata…!

  36. devilgunner says:

Where are the remaining lads and chicks. Rico, AK, Goonster, JM are all here. To form the rest of the round table we need Steve, Lady Gag…..erm sorry AGAG, TT.

  37. devilgunner says:

and all of you please stop berating Chamack. He is a good player, albeit used wrongly and was also used and thrown away when RVP returned. He is better than Bendy and works for the team, is not egotistical and does not think he is God’s gift to earth.

  38. TT says:

No Ramsey in the starting line up looks like he is starting with Rociky and Jenks is a right back. No JD starting which is a blessing…

  39. W.A.T.H says:

I’m in the pub DG so not much from me til I get back home this iphone is all well and good but several GG’s and i cant see the letters on the keypad… make that several bottles of GG…. Hope your feeling bit betetr DG…!

    Lata Rico, 3-1 Arsenal…!

  40. goonster says:

Hi ya kev….don’t worry my man I ve got this one covered. We ll win buy a landslide….TR7 is playing!

  41. devilgunner says:

Good to see the gunners off the mark so early. But the problem with this is that it leaves the team with a catch 22 situation. Do they go for more and leave the back door open with such a defence? Do they sit back and invite them to attack us. With a defence as poor as ours is at this time and with an attack not so sharp that is not an easy question to answer. We need to score more and definetely not concede before half time

  42. devilgunner says:

Had we been in the GG days we would have shut up shop and relied on the counterattack. But being with AW we always do attack.

  43. TT says:

typical Arsenal we just can’t fucking defend can we? Sunderland to get their pecker up now and our lads to fall to pieces like we usually do when the opposition scores:/

  44. devilgunner says:

And there we go……they get a draw. We are really an unfortunate bunch. Or we do not heed to previous lessons???

  45. TT says:

Where is the leadership in this team? RvP Arteta Song Merts will someone please step up and get a grip on this nervous wreck we always become as soon as something goes against us…

  46. TT says:

Put Park on you cnut and start with 4 4 2 we don’t have the personnel for 4 3 3 anymore. There is absolutely no bite in our attack anymore. teams get to grips with us and as soon as they do that we don’t have an answer to it to one dimensional.

  47. rico says:

what did i say about larsson….

anyway, we need a half time rollocking from pat rice and start the second half like we did the first..

we have fallen to pieces after their goal and the heads are down…. the nerves and errors have crept back in…..

  48. EastSidePaul says:

Buy cut price players, get cut price performances.

What in the name of all that is good does Walcott have to do to be dropped???

  49. devilgunner says:

Easy ESP. Theo has got to do something. So far he has done nothing not even something negative. So he can rightly say…..I did nothing bad boss.

TT it was an amazing freekick but then so where all the distance shots we have conceded this season.

  50. agirlagunner says:

I have no idea, why when leading by just one goal, our players find it fit to treat the match as a stroll in the park. Very disappointed.

  51. goonster says:

We really looked toothless after they equalized. Artera needs to get involved more. TR7 is not playing badly he just needs to cut out the flicks and find his man with a pass. Walcott is…well walcott. Gervinho needs to lift up his head when he runs. 3:1 to the side in red. COYGs

  52. EastSidePaul says:

Arteta is no fabregas replacement. Why on earth does he lead with his land every time he jumps for a ball?

Song is a disaster, Wenger shows poor man management with him, he should NEVER be allowed passed the half way line.

The defense is a shambles as usual…but hey as long as they showed great mental strength right?!

  53. EastSidePaul says:

Hey DG, if I had my way Walcott would be shipped out of the club tomorrow. He is a waste of a number always has been, Why not bring on Oxo or Miyachi? And take song off and put on Coq…

  54. W.A.T.H says:

We’re pretty toothless and clueless going forward, no movement no urgency don’t know what we’d do without RVP…! We’re not giving them enough to worry about when we get the ball its just so pedestrian…!
Oh well least we not loosing 🙂

  55. TT says:

Jesus fucking Christ!!!!! who’s side is this cnut on? Rosicky? FFS he has been good but then he leaves Walcott the invisible on. Maybe he could not see that he was on….

  56. devilgunner says:

Oui AGAG but I would like to work for a committee which is direct and reaches it aims with few discussions instead of trying to find problems with every opportunity.

BDW…..did you see that mistakenly I referred to you as Lady Gaga???

  57. TT says:

Agag heads wont roll no matter what because yoy see Wenger is Beanies hero or so say’s SS so it would upset him if he got the sack….

  58. rico says:

3 points, that’s what we asked for this morning and that’s what we got….

but still a few issues to be resolved…..

  59. agirlagunner says:

Whew… I feel like I’ve been put through an emotional wringer. Oh wait, these days… that goes hand in hand with watching our team!

Whatever would we do without Robin??

  60. EastSidePaul says:

AA did very well when he came on.

I’m sorry but it really annoys me when I have to watch a player who I am better than play for Arsenal. That player is Theo Walcott, he has NOTHING, no positional sense, no finishing, no passing ability, control is awful, and where is this pace I have been hearing so much about?!!

  61. agirlagunner says:

Tenth, DG? You don’t say! That is so amazing, I may well faint. 😀

rico, we picked up the tempo in the last 20- that was heartening; and Robin continues to amaze…

  62. devilgunner says:

Walcott does not suffer from chair splinters but Park surely does. What does TW do to deserve a starting place while what is Park doing to deserve a sitting place in the front row??

  63. devilgunner says:

Poor Theo Lad, why do you threat him like this Paul? He does not do anything to deserve it!!!! Correct me if I am wrong but he did nothing bad today.

Dont faint AGAG. Chicks are a scarce commodity on this blog.

  64. devilgunner says:

A commentator has just referred to the Newcastle vs spuds game as a champions league six pointer. Has he realised that we are still in october??

  65. EastSidePaul says:

    Hey DG,

Well for one, he was never available for a pass when Jen was on the ball, he constantly is cutting infield so as not to be available. And does anyone else notice that every time he tries to cross a ball he hits the player who is facing him up? He stinks!!

When song was lucky to stay on the pitch today, are footballers really that brain dead? The guy does a great job sitting in front of the back four, but that is all he should do!

  66. TT says:

You are spot on about Theo devilgunner, he did nothing wrong all day/ how could he? You have to do something to do it wrong so do nothing.

  67. devilgunner says:

Joking Paul. Of course he did nothing not even good things.

As for this team I know its boring but we should wait a bit….Coquelin, Frimpong, Oxo, Aneke, Afobe, Ryo etc are all superior to the ones that were on show today. So grin and bear it and hopefully we will shine once more.

Jenks and Gibbs were good today, and that is a good sign.

  68. agirlagunner says:

goonster, WATH will have some GG for us. 🙂 He drinks by the barrel. 😉

Theo has to find his shooting boots. He’s makes a poor case for himself as striker when he does not score.

DG the media is so hopelessly biased against us, nothing they say surprises me anymore.

  69. agirlagunner says:

ESP, that is a comparison, few players will come the better off against. Henry was God! (Well, that is DB10, really…)

  70. EastSidePaul says:

I think Santos did well when he came on, and TR7 did very well, very hit or miss that guy, same as most of the team I am afraid!

  71. rico says:

agag – we need to play the way we started and ended for 90 mins, do that and we’d soon be up the table…

  72. Joaquim Moreira says:

    Hello!
    ok… 2-1 🙂
Questions: a) How can AW say Santos can play at RB? He never shoot with right foot! (however, he is a good player)
    b) Walcott… What he have does in all the game? Where did he play? Has he any positional sense? colectiv sense? confidence level?
    c) We must play better in defence. The oal and some crazy faults are completely with out concentration.
    d) Arteta spent 50% of the match playing and the others 50% resting. He isn’t preparing for a full game.
    e) Vela is not playing now versus Zaragoza. (half-time RS 0 Zaragoza 1)

  73. rico says:

Re Theo – I wouldn’t sell him, never in a month of sundays, but and for me this is one of my gripes with Wenger – Theo needs to start certain games, same with a few of ours, look at the oppo and make the choice, not just stick him in from the start just because….

  74. goonster says:

TR7 did so well? Fucking hell he was the only player taking the game to sunderland. He would have been my man of the match had robin not scored that peach of a free kick. What tomaz needs to do is get back his shooting boots and who knows….we might have a class player retiring with us….wow when was the last time we had such? DB right?

  75. rico says:

ESP, i thought Rosicky had a pretty good all round game too, santos was also good but for me it all changed when AA and Yossi came on….

    Experience…..

  76. rico says:

I know Song isn’t a fav with many, but he defended well again, when he finally realised that was his job 😉

  77. goonster says:

Agag its a sin to compare henry with DB10….no offense but bergy is my favorite gunner of all time. A lot of you here will disagree but to me DB was a better player than henry

  78. agirlagunner says:

I thought Song was great, too. He’s alright when he stops wanting to be Songinho. KT would be very happy with TR7’s performance.

  79. agirlagunner says:

goonster, Henry is my firm favorite (and the current Barca No. 4 eeeeek) , but I did concede that DB was actually the football God. 😉

  80. EastSidePaul says:

I think DB was a better footballer than Henry, probably the best footballer ever to play in England.

  81. Joaquim Moreira says:

TR7 had a good game but he must go to the bench on the right time. Probably (I’m quite sure…) he plays again next wednesday.
Sunderland merely defend and believe in the advanced (big game did!) And how all the teams that play against Arsenal, playing in the set pieces (corners, free from any distance, near the launch area). Again it is worrying that one can create advanced so much trouble, to win as many fouls, yellow cards and earn as many goals are scored.
I’m watching now the others of North London. Why they not play with white shirt?

  82. rico says:

agag – the way we are doing at the moment, i would drop Arteta and Ramsey and play Song with Coq in the middle – allow Song to be Songinho but when the chips are down, we have two defence minded players…

Song is really quite good going forward, bit like diaby when he last played in 2009…. 😉

  83. rico says:

    ESP 😉 Thats harsh…

In all honesty, take Robin out of the picture, who else stood out? To pick on one player when we are average all over the pitch is maybe be not the best thing….

It takes 14 players to step it up, not just one…

  84. rico says:

good point re rosicky JM, he’s no spring chicken and what’s the point in keeping him on when it’s clear he’s done – i thought the switch to AA was really well timed, same with Yossi….

  85. goonster says:

That got tears rolling down my cheeks guys. Thanks for acknowledging the best dutch player ever….God I miss him.

  86. allezkev says:

    95 mins thru the ringer…
I hate Howard Webb. He really thinks we all to watch him camp it up. What a fraud.
Theo, i felt, held back today to help out Jenks.
    Song & RVP played well.
Not sure about Rosicky, he seems to slow everything down.
Benny did ok as did AA.

  87. agirlagunner says:

What did Robin say, rico? If the Board buys superquality in January, I reckon he will stay.

That’s an idea, rico. Maybe Arteta needs some rest. He did not look bright today.

  88. rico says:

‘I hate Howard Webb. He really thinks we all to watch him camp it up.’

Great comment AK, mr fecking puffy chest Webb, what a …. you know, the word that is banned on here…..

    AK, Rosicky was awesome 😉

  89. goonster says:

Kev TR7 did well….song was a disaster in the first half but got into the game in the second when he sat back. It baffles me why wenger tells him to push up the pitch….song is not pacy and can’t return fast when we lose the ball but when he sits back…..he’s one of the best in his position.

  90. rico says:

he was asked if his booking was worth it – he laughed and said for sue it was – he’s just lovely agag, he smiled and he so loves afc….

  91. goonster says:

Rico RVP today reminds me of bergy. How about the turn and the chip? Class eh? Injury permitting he might hit 30 goals this season.

  92. Joaquim Moreira says:

we have more 30 games (90 points). If we can reach the 70 points we can be at the 4th position at least 8my prevision 😉 )So “just” miss 60 points 🙂

  93. agirlagunner says:

Because ermm… he’s been rubbish, TT. An enforced holiday on the bench, if you will. 😉

rico, I’m sure the smile had a bit to do with his”loveliness” (and his thighs, of course. 😉 )

  94. goonster says:

You are right JM…..hopefully the swampies will lose a few games. We still have to play them at home and we ll rip that lot to pieces.

  95. rico says:

TT – it’s not a rest Arteta needs, it’s dropping, it’s shocking to think we paid 10m for him and without having a medical…..

  96. Joaquim Moreira says:

    1-1- !
Now, put a spuddie player sent off like with us with Gervinho!
(We could win in Newcastle and our position and problems probably will be differents)

  97. Joaquim Moreira says:

Arteta is a good player but we need two more players in midfield for the rotation between them. I know,we have Wilshere and Diaby, but Wilshere only next season and Diaby perhaps next week, on the first week in January and if we are lucky, maybe in april. So, we need two more players

  98. goonster says:

Rico….I almost died of grief when it hit the bar and didn’t go in. Robin is the closest thing we have to bergy. We must do all we can to keep him.

  99. Joaquim Moreira says:

spuddies have 4 (!!!!) consecutive victories- 12 points…it’s time for have 4 consecutive defeats 🙂

  100. rico says:

1-1 JM, who is sent off for the squits??

january goonster, january needs to show intent and make robin believe we are an ambitious club….

  101. devilgunner says:

STICK THE FEKKING ARTETA ON THE LEFT IN A 4-4-1-1. Agree regarding Coquelin and Song. Ramsey on the right will do well. Then rotate Gervinho with TW up front, RVP with AA in the hole. Frimps can rotate with Song and Coquelin in the middle. WE CANNOT PLAY 4-3-3 WITH THIS LOT.

For God’s sake we can see it why cant Wenger. You dont need to be a Pro licence coach to see these things.

  102. devilgunner says:

What I find galling is the tactic I explained the last time. AW plays 4-3-3 but expects the back 4 to act the same as in 4-4-2/1-1. The dynamics are all different since a left back in 4-3-3 plays a totally different game to 4-4-2/1-1. At least with Arteta on the left he can cover for the full back. Ramsey on the right can cover for Jenks and we will still have a control over the midfield since the lateral midfielder comes inside when the fullbacks overlap or else stays outside when the full back stays back. Simple coaching tactics really.

  103. rico says:

devil – now you know why we get so frustrated – it’s not rocket science and i am no coach but sometimes things in life are so clear to the eye……

  104. goonster says:

Rico I told you once I ll tell you again…..we won’t be signing any more defenders! Wenger would rather sign a 16 year old wonder shit than spend the money on what we really need….a PL experienced defender.

  105. devilgunner says:

In the way that I explained above is that it gives the team a 5 man midfield and two strikers when we attack plus it leaves 3 men behind with a solid spine. But no…….we have to be GUNG HO.

  106. goonster says:

Yeeeeaaaah…..come you fucking geordies…come on. We all know spuds don’t play in europe only gunners. Come on.

  107. allezkev says:

    Rico ; ‘Rosicky was awesome’…
My eldest watched the game on TV and said the same as you.
I thought Arteta had a good game, and he said the opposite.

    Was we refused a penalty???

  108. devilgunner says:

Eventually they will always do Goonster. So keep smiling and your hopes up. We are only 9 pts behind the Chavs and I can assure you all things will change pretty soon. One game at a time lads and we will be there or thereabouts. I still think that this season has got more twists and turns and to be just 9 points behind the chavs with all the turmoil we have had and just 4 points behind the scum is not so bad. I wish we were better…..3 pts from Blackburn and 1 from the scum would have seen us with 14 points but we are were we are and hopefully we get off from there.

  109. allezkev says:

    Kif int DG. Yes 4 4 2/4 4 1 1. Is the bloody answer.
We look vunerable playing 4 3 3. We aren’t and never will be Barcelona.

  110. goonster says:

That’s the spirit DG….hopefully we ll over hurl those scums and put them where they belong. Kev it was me not rico!

  111. goonster says:

Spot on AK….we need park to partner RVP up front. Why is wenger keeping this guy on the bench. Why buy him if you won’t play him.

  112. devilgunner says:

I am much better today AK. Spent the day with the Queen and the young prince and since it was raining cats and dogs outside I felt ok. It was cosy inside really so I did not have to grumble like the last two days. Some pillow fighting went on. Handbags is like chicken’s feed near it. Getting my strength back bit by bit.

  113. goonster says:

Our little Russian could have scored the goal of the season had that gone in. Messi-like the way he waltzed through their defense. Had a manure player done that sky sport ll show it all week.

  114. rico says:

goonster – that moment from AA is what we should be seeing more often – how many fans have said that he’s never played in the right role…

he is class but that is destroyed when he is asked to play on the wings, that piece of magic deserved a goal, reminded me of that scum bum Ricky Villa’s wonder goal, but the ending was not to be…..

  115. goonster says:

Rico, blame it on the manager….arshavin pre euro 2008 was a monster. I saw a compilation of his goals…sheer class. Remember his goal against blackburn at the EMS in his first season with us. it wasn’t a fluke,he has done that in russia over and over again. Its his signature goal! Trust wenger to take that out of his game. He’s a weird one that wenger…turns filth into class and class into…well filth!

  116. rico says:

that’s what i’m saying goonster – we all know the AA before he came to us don’t we, fro that jan to the end of the season he was on fire – then, well he was made to fit in and his game went to pot!

same old same old, buy players and then wonder where they can fit in, instead of spotting a weak area and buying the player to fill the void…

    it’s simples in a real world…..

  117. goonster says:

I thought kozzer did well today…no fancy stuff. Just kept it clean. He’s one of the most underrated arsenal players ever.

  118. allezkev says:

Rico i shall bow to your superior knowledge. 🙂
When AA came on i just thought ‘that’s a waste of a sub’.
But he did make a difference, with his close~control & runs into the box.
When Arsenal signed Benayoun, i was totally underwhelmed. But i’m now a confirmed Benny fan [ And i don’t mean Fred Scuttle]… 🙂

  119. goonster says:

Beats me rico…it sure did. He single handedly ripped the dutch to shreds that year. That’s the arshavin we stayed out all night celebrating even though I ve got work to do the next day.

  120. allezkev says:

So Fergie’s ‘rent boy’ Howard Webb turned down two pens.
What a preening prancing pillock he is.
If he’s our best ref then God help us.
How did the dinner go last night Rico…
    Wined & dined eh..? 🙂

  121. rico says:

yep, he did ok goonster but his side kick was poor…

i said earlier something similar AK, Yossi and AA changed the game imho – AA took it back to them and he scared their defence, yossi was so calm, did what wes needed, when it was needed… solid for me…

I wanted Yosi to start 😉

  122. rico says:

Talking of which, i’m off to watch the results show and then the x-factor – catch you all tomorrow….

Great result, regardless of the display…

10th in the PL, next week, who knows where we will be 😉

Nighty all, have a good sleep 🙂

  123. goonster says:

Nah DG am off with me pals for a couple of beers. Then maybe chase a couple birds then hit the sack for I ve got work tomorrow.

  124. allezkev says:

    JM, Benayoun is what? 31… He’s not 65 amigo, he’s 31..!
    Why cannot Benny play 90mins..?
He has a positive style and is always looking to attack the box rather than pass sideways.
I admit that i wasn’t a fan of his. He’d never really impressed me in the past. But i’m a fan of his now.
As Rico said, there’s a calmness and a confidence about him.
I also would quite like to see him start a few EPL games.
