Nicklas Bendtner doing all he can! All things bad are avoidable…..

Morning all.

At the moment I’m doing everything I can to help the team win trophies, as we all are.

I’ve always had strong feelings towards the club and respected the club and that’s something I will never lose.

I’m still here, I’m not sad about it. I don’t regret it. I’m here, part of the group and as professional as any other player.

That’s not just words, you can see it in my matches, in my training and in my commitment.

That’s from Nicklas Bendtner.

Arsene Wenger must see all his effort and commitment in training which is no doubt why he believes the player has something to offer the squad. As do the Denmark international side and when he plays, he performs well and he’s scored 24 goals in 56 games for them, two of which came in a World Cup qualifier against Italy earlier this month.

So, scoring for his country is not a problem but when it comes to club football, especially ours, his goal tally is poor. 22 goals in 101 appearances.

It’s a strange one really and one I’ll probably never truly understand….

Staying with the Chelsea defeat, club captain Thomas Vermaelen is pretty downhearted and believes that we could have avoided our loss.

The first goal is always important, you always want to take the lead in such a big game. It’s quite disappointing they got a 1-0 lead, it was a goal we could avoid – I think both goals [were avoidable].

Of course he is right, we could have avoided conceding both goals but the game is done and dusted and no amount of talk will change that, the team really have to brush themselves down and put that defeat behind them. Hopefully Steve Bould will have had a word to those involved in both goals.

On Saturday we are up against a side who are in good form, especially up front. Both Suarez and Sturridge are going through a purple patch and are scoring many goals. They will certainly have more up front to threat us with than Chelsea had so our defensive players will need to remain switched on and in the right places.

We cannot afford to start slowly against them, nor can we afford to gift them an early goal otherwise their confidence will rocket and ours will drop. Also, we need The Emirates behind, an early goal for them and the fans will get nervous.

No more tippy tappy sideways, backwards negative stuff, it’s time to get this group firing again and we haven’t really seen that since the Napoli game when we saw defending at it’s best and attacking at it’s best.

We know they can do it, they just have to believe they can again….

Arsene Wenger is convinced they will:

We will respond against Liverpool, don’t worry.

The home form is a concern but not as big as the statistics show it, because I felt in big games against Dortmund and [Chelsea] we gave easy goals away.

This one is a big game, and it’s one we must win…

That’s your lot for another day….

Vermaelen was also one of those that bombed forward for a corner only to realize they got caught out. Third time this season !

    Very true Ks.

We haven’t learned from the Dortmund game…

Step up Mr Bould, have a word in these players ears…

  3. Lewis says:

    Exactly what I thought Oz.

We gave easy goals away, don’t we always do that?! Maybe have a go at sorting that out.

Can’t wait for satuday, 3-1 the good guys I reckon.

Lewis doing something about it means tactical work which is something Wenger doesn’t appear to do. The frustration is seeing the same players make the same mistakes and then seeing a replacement come in and do the same thing again. Then we get treated to the ” we will learn from this ” quip . However we are waiting for the day that they actually do. I often yearn for the George Graham piece of rope that tied our old back four together and made the system work. Perhaps Bouldy could nip round to Highbury and see if he can find it tossed behind the dustbins.

  6. Lewis says:

Agreed Potter, We are top of the league and that is nothing but positive, but we have let in a lot of goals already and thats not even against the better teams. Bit of a worry. I think most games we will come out statistically on top, but at the end of the day there is only one statistic that matters, not conceding as many “easy goals” would be a massive contribution to enhancing that statistic. I know I’m stating the obvious!

  7. ozgunner says:

I expect their mobility to give us issues potter. The space we so often see between our CB’s is worrying big time, something you have already pointed out i think as i did last year and the year before that and so on.

  8. Danish Gooner says:

Wenger is always filled with bravado the more certain he is when talking to the press the more worried he actually is.How many times have this team matured and still lost the next imortant game ?? How many times have they learned their lessons and lost the next game ??? How many times have they told the fans they would respond right back and failed ????? The combined answer is countless of times. If fans shold buy into all Wengers Bravado we would have won 5 cl and 7 championships and a lot of fa cups but we havnt. With another defeat against Pool we could start hitting the panic button and then Dortmund and Manure.Wenger are worried seriously worried because the next fortnight might show that Arsenal havnt rally progressed, remember our poor, poor record against top teams.

  9. Bergkampforlife says:

i was not so down hearted about the loss to Chelsea, as i would prefer us to stay focused on the league and FA cup. Our main defenders are back on Saturday, and they will take care of SAS. Can anybody inform me as to when Theo will be back? Nothing is said in the news.

  10. bradster says:

    Afternoon all,

I see Liverpool top heavy and counter attack will give us the win.
Glen Johnston is a bad defender and Henderson is rubbish, so if we can put Gibbs in front of Monreal he can’t find space in behind and on that flank.
Our double pivot needs to be top of their game against Suarez and Moses.
Pity Gnabry is injured as he’d be good cover for Sagna and have space on that flank too.

  11. potter says:

Looked on Pravda for injury news but there is none , However there is a poll to find which of the remaining competitions the punters feel they will win.

There was no box for none of them !

  12. W.A.T.H says:

Potter, stop being so pessimistic mate least you know the pub is comfy in winter when the log fire roars and the ale flows…..

I think we’ll win Sat and I think we’ll beat the Mancs away…. How’s that for Mr Grumpy…

Now where is Mr Lazy…. AK where are you and what cafe are you lounging around in….

  13. potter says:

Pessimism I am not sure, I just don’t trust the midfield defensive wise and I know that any team that closes us down high up the pitch gets control of the game . There are days when we are sublime going forward and others where the build up is so slow that at 66 I reckon I could still defend against it.. We need to be at our best and go full throttle from the off, it could be a high scoring game as I can’t see us stopping them from scoring.

  14. BrainwashedKev says:

My God, never mind Mr Grumpy, it’s a miracle, he’s morphed into Mr Optimistic…

    I am stunned… 😉

  15. W.A.T.H says:

Not optimistic AK just mystic maybe 😀

Totally agree Potter, def mid is a serious concern without Flamini we lack the discipline and for me Arteta cannot do it alone we get to exposed.

Still think the pub is a great idea 😀

  16. BrainwashedKev says:

Lars Bender extends his contract up to 2019.
    Another one bites the dust…

Sami Khadiera could an option for a holding m/f..?
Expensive, but quality and Real need to raise funds to pay for Suarez…

  17. potter says:

So Liverpool approaches and all the talk is of Suarez and our attempts to buy him. Isn’t it about time heads rolled or at least those that misled the club into thinking there was a buy out clause encouraging that fatuous +£1 bid were exposed.

  18. W.A.T.H says:

I reckon the clause was there Potter, what I think is that the Suarez people thought it was a buy out clause and told perspective buyers that but in fact it was just a clause that said Lpoo had to listen to an offer….! We never gonna know the truth and Rodgers is just waffling hot air to make himself look good…! Lets hope we smash them to bits 2moro and then Suarez really can see what he’s missed out on..!

  19. rico says:

Potter – Liverpool were never going to sell to us, Kroenke told us that but I agree re the additional £1.. It was silly but I wonder whose idea that was, AW apparently, didn’t even want to go for him…
