New striker linked, Chamakh/Jack saga rumbles on and you won't believe what some people write!!

So the new look Chamakh has had all the papers and media talking since our penalty against Birmingham on Saturday. Now I’ve had time to think and take on board just how many other sides have beaten or even nicked a draw off of us in the past with a dodgy decision, I don’t give a flying fudge about how it came about, we got the three points and that was needed. Yes it was soft but that wasn’t Chamakh’s fault, blame the ref who had a clear view.

Same goes for Jack Wilshere, bad tackle yes, is he a ‘thug in football’? No, not now and nor will he ever be, he’s a wonderful footballer who made one mistake, move on everyone, get over it. If he carries on in the same vein then let’s think again but he’s put his hands up and apologised, not hidden behind tears or similar! Instead he has looked at what his red card has cost the team and that’s his absence for the next three league games meaning he will miss the game away at Manchester City, the Carling Cup fixture against Newcastle and the home fixture against West Ham.

Talking of Chamakh, I think he is just what we’ve been missing, he’s getting in the box, annoying defenders and getting in the right place at the right time and he did the best thing he could after the penalty and that was to go on and score a good goal. He’s good, and at last he’s had his hair cut, still looking dodgy, but at least it’s a shorter looking dodgy! All through the game he carried on smiling, he’ll carry on playing the way he does and despite Nikki B on his way back, I don’t expect Wenger to drop Chamakh to make way for his return – well, not unless he needs a rest!

I read yesterday that Kaka could soon be on the move again. He’s currently at Real Madrid, a club who paid a record-breaking £56 million for him at the time of his move from AC Milan. I think most would agree that the move to Spain was not the best thing the player has ever done but now it seems that AC Milan want him back but Inter want him too. I don’t know how high Jose Moanrinho rates Kaka but I wouldn’t have thought Madrid would let him go cheaply but I can’t see them recouping their money, unless of course Manchester City or Chelsea join in the battle. One thing is for sure though, we won’t be going after him despite having £56 millon in the bank.

Finally, even though the transfer window isn’t open until January, yet again we are being linked with a striker, this time it’s Abel Mathías Hernández Platero, he’s a 6’1″ Uruguayan who currently plays for Palermo. He’s had a bit of a dodgy ticker in the past but that seems to be where it is now, in the past. He has represented his country at under 20’s level but this year he played for the full Uruguayan squad in a friendly. I remember us being linked with him earlier this year but nothing materialised in the summer. Whether this holds any substance, only time will tell.

Oh talking of rumours and something to make you laugh. Every now and again I read the ‘rumours’ about the ‘believed’ in and outs in the next transfer window.

This is one persons list of our ‘outs’ next summer

Robin Van Persie
Cesc Fabregas
Tomas Rosicky
Abou Diaby
Manuel Almunia
Vito Mannone – Loan
Lukasz Fabianski – Loan
Andrey Arshavin (Maybe)

On that note, have a good day all and let me know if you want me to list ‘The In’s’….. Didn’t think you would 😉

  1. rico says:

i think you are right, rooney will be linked to every top club in england and abroad, moanrihno is rumoured to offer benzema for him in Jan…

  2. Barndoor Bendtner says:

I’d have Rooney in a heartbeat. He is class (apart from off the field) and needs someone like AW to bring his skill back to the fore. At the moment he feels he has to run all over the pitch for the team instead of playing his position.
Wouldnt you swap him for Arshavin?

  3. damien says:

Rooney is known for being a doosh. He hates walcott. He is expensive. He loses the ball often. He has a high wage. So no place for him at arsenal.

  4. rico says:

hi BB, i am not sure who is worse right now rooney or arshavin.. i couldn’t cope with his off field stuff…

  5. rico says:

damien, don’t want to pick up the newspapaer or turn on the television and see his ugly mug in the news for all the wrong reasons, knowing he’s one of ours….

Much rather Torres, at the right club he would get his old spark back…

  6. damien says:

    Rooney this season
    Games.Goals.Assists
    5.1.3

    Arshavin
    8.2.3

    Not much difference.

tbh I’d rather take a torres than a rooney any day.

  7. damien says:

    sagna – koz – Verm – Gibbs
    ———–song———–
    ——-jack—cesc———
    walcott————rosicky
    ———cham/rvp———

  8. Barndoor Bendtner says:

    Hi Rico, Damien et al.
I agree Rooneys current form and attitude arent worth a cr*p, but you cant deny he is talent with a capital T. I think a move would make him world class again, so why not the Gunners?
That being said, Torres every day of the week and twice on Sundays. I would have his children if necessary.

  9. rico says:

i like that team damien, i’m getting fed up with AA’s laziness to be honest, yes he’s a great player but it always seems to be when he wants and not when the team ‘needs’….

  10. rico says:

BB 😆 re Torres, and yes Rooney is a fantastic player, before all this lates rubbish i would have loved to see him in an arsenal shirt , but the smoking while druck, peeing up the wall and then all the ‘over the side for payment’ stuff…. nah, he’s not made of arsenal stuff…. not under wenger anyway 😉

  11. SD-London says:

    Morning all,
I wouldn’t have Rooney just because he will simply create unrest in the changing room and that he hates Walcott and probably influenced Capello’s decisions to drop Theo.
Invariably costing England creativity or options and sponsorship money 🙂 in the World Cup.

Torres is like RVP (injury galore)

  12. rico says:

    Hi SD, hows you??

I didn’t realise he didn’t like Theo as much as has been said, as long as RvP and Torres alternate their injuries we’ll be fine 😉

Seriously, Rafa overplayed Torres and crocked him, now he just seems very unhappy to be at the dippers, right club and manager could get him right back in form…

  13. T-buzz says:

    In: Pepe Reina??
Flappy Handski seems to be doing a better job than him at the moment! lol

    Morning all.
So, is it safe to say that Chamarkh has been taking tips from Bobby Pires in training as per getting those penalties? 😉
I felt there was contact even though it was minimal so I disagree with the claims that the defender didnt touch him at all.

  14. SD-London says:

Liverpool baffles me , why they can’t win is beyond my understanding right now.

I blame the management though, they shouldn’t have allowed Rafa to leave, he should have being made to fix the problem he created.

He left to coach a perfect team created by J Morinho. He must be laughing his head off at Liverpool right now.

  15. SD-London says:

Arshavin played well when he didn’t like English food but i suspect he has discovered Fish and Chips, sausages, Rice and Peas, Curries(probably the cause of his off form),and the good old Mc Donalds.

  16. SD-London says:

Oh Rico , dont get me wrong , i hate them as well but i liked the fact that they seem to know how to usually give Chelsea hard time. That was in the past though , before Torres and before Alonso left.

  17. T-buzz says:

Arshavin needs to find out from Nasri how he was able to trim down from last season then.

As per the ‘Mighty’ Liverpooh situation, well…. ha ha ha!

  18. SD-London says:

🙂 I have a big smile because we just had a weekend where Chelsea and MAn Utd d lost points and we won.
Those are rare in Arsenals’ book you know.

  19. SD-London says:

Chamakh Chamakh , he has scored how many goals now and caused how many penalties now ?

Talk about good value for no money thats Chamakh.
Wenger done good on that one.

  20. K-TR7 says:

SD-L kaka is a good player but i think he is way overhyped.chamakh is very impressive:5 goals in 9 starts in a new league is no mean feat.

  21. Njagi says:

Has anyone watched Kagawa of Dortmund play? his workrate, crosses, skinning defenders and has scored 4 goals so far.
BTW, Podolski is not quite happy at Koln. How about him for RVP’s ?

  22. K-TR7 says:

SD i believe so.he is quickly becoming our most valuable player and considering he came for free!…AW is a genius.

  23. SD-London says:

K-TR7-But Pulis (Stoke Manager)thinks he is not.I was going to get angry then i thought ;he is stoke manager after all so he wouldn’t really know.

I think Wilshere needs the experience and the rest a Red card brings.

We need to see more of that really :Rooney did it in the last minute of the friendly (Got a yellow)

Therefore Wilshere only wanted to stop the attack by any means necessary to maintain the lead because it didn’t look like Diaby was going to let us score anbother goal anyways.

  24. Augooner says:

Kaka& Torres please !!! Kaka can run mf . and Torres ? The ball that feeds to him by Cesc or Wilshire ? We will be the strongest attacking team in the world

  25. Steve Palmer says:

Rumours of ins and outs, now we know anyone costing anymore than 20 mill is just a rumour. Chamakh is a striker we badly needed,RVP and NB can go but we will be hard pressed to get our money back, they dont play enough football to impress anybody, the little Russian needs to be rested to get his form back vela needs to be used more, we need all our back line fit and playing together i have my doubts it will ever happen, players that cannot keep there fitness may as well be playing there football elsewhere, a big squad should be for the manager,to have options the only options AW gets is whos fit

  26. SD-London says:

It is good we have somebody like Chamakh right now.
Because whenever RVP gets injured NB struggles to get goals. But if we have the three now then Wenger has options.

Selling any of them will send us back to last season and season before where lack of dept ruined our season.

  27. rico says:

Mannone completes loan switch to Hull City

Arsenal Football Club can confirm that goalkeeper Vito Mannone has joined Championship side Hull City on loan until January 2011.

The 22 year-old joined Arsenal in 2005 from Atalanta, made his first team debut against Stoke City in a 4-1 victory in May 2009 following a loan spell at Barnsley where he played four times.

Vito started for the Gunners last season in the 3-2 Champions League win at Standard Liege and went on to make eight appearances in a good autumn run – not once being on a losing Arsenal side.

A highly-productive campaign also saw him capped by Italy Under-21s for the first time.

Vito will immediately join up with Hull City and will stay on loan with Nigel Pearson’s side until January 3, 2011.

Everyone at Arsenal Football Club wishes Vito the best of luck during his time at the KC Stadium

  28. rico says:

Theo is one we have severely missed imho SD, he started the season on fire, his pace and newly found ability to cut in and shoot was a long time coming. the lad needs a long run now of being injury free, get RVP and Cesc back and will be a force again…

Good thing is that all barr Jack and VP should be fir for the City game… Including TV and Kos, Almunia doesn’t count 😉

  29. agirlagunner says:

Hola, rico. 🙂 The knives are out exactly as we were expecting. While we do want Jack to learn to be a bit more circumspect, he seems feisty by nature; and I quite like that. If English players diving were as well-covered as the soft penalty awarde to Chamakh, I wouldn’t mind it so much. As it’s been covered, you would think Chamakh murdered someone…

  30. rico says:

    Howdy agag

my thoughts exactly, when the english journos report on the english players with the same view then i’ll listen, until then they can take a hike – poor old chamakh was likened to Ronaldo in more ways than one on sky… how dare they 😉

as for jack, we need a bit more ‘attitude’ in our side, good lad 😉 narsi hoof up the brum players bum with his knee was quite amusing i thought…. 😆

  31. rico says:

just been reading about his toe injury agag, i am not sure there is much truth in that, wenger must be thinking about the city game on sunday and whether to risk him and cesc tomorrow…. its a tough one to call..

    TV’s injury is a mysterious one though….

  32. agirlagunner says:

Re: chamakh, I know! I was so happy when he scored cause he showed ’em just the kind of goal he can score!

Maybe, that’s why I like Nasri so much; he’s shown on more than one occasion how he is not one to be messed with. 😉

    Hello, SD!

  33. oliver says:

we’ll see. shakhtar tomorrow, eduardo’s return will ensure that bad tackles and injury remain in the headlines for the next few days. still, it will be nice to see him back and i am sure our supporters will warmly welcome him.

  34. SD-London says:

    Hello agag!

Nasri has being the consistent one only if Rosicki and Arshavin found their shooting boots againts West broom, Nasri nearly single handedly got us a point.

But arshavin is getting fat and Rosicky can pass blind folded but can’t shoot.

  35. agirlagunner says:

Haha, rico. I may very well cry if Torres goes to Moneychester City. 🙁

oliver, players who have left/wanting to leave our club (ahem, Captain) would do well to learn from Eduardo. 🙂

I want more playing time for TR7 too, SD. I’m always afraid he’ll get injured, but he’s also one to dish out the gratuitous kick– he’s certainly not afraid to go into tackles.

I don’t know what’s wrong with AA; maybe he doesn’t find London cold enough. 🙂

  36. SD-London says:

Yeah you are right AGAG, Wenger needs to get him a Snow bed or something.

They way he played that shot against the Birm.keeper surprised me because the old Arshavin would have gone further to beat the keeper and still shoot with the most impossible angle ever.

    But No he didn’t. 🙁

  37. agirlagunner says:

The thing about AA, as amazing a talent as he is, SD, is that he frequenlty looks lazy. Methinks he minds his website too much. 😉

  38. rico says:

agag, i don’t think he would never go and join city, maybe us under wnger and to play in the same team as cesc, or if not it will be back to spain i think…

oliver, you are right re eduardo and the press, i miss him and it will be good to see him play tomorrow as long as he doesn’t score…

  39. K-TR7 says:

hi agag.its seems you’re desperate for us to land Torres.its a shame it isn’t a video game.in my game the Arsenal team is like this:
    Szczesny;Sagna,Vermaelen,Squillaci,clichy;diarra,rosicky,cesc;kaka,CR9,RVP10.AA,Nasri,chamakh…on the bench.

  40. oliver says:

rico, i don’t mind if eduardo scores, as long as we get the three points. we are not in the clean sheet business, so it might as well be him…

  41. rico says:

fair comment oliver, i’d rather he didn’t though to be honest, we need to start getting clean sheets, no sentiment tomorrow 😉

  42. K-TR7 says:

Robin van Persie has “no chance” of playing for Holland in the next international break, according to Arsène Wenger.

The Dutch forward has not kicked a ball since August 28 after picking up an ankle injury at Blackburn but Wenger hopes he will return to action in three weeks.

In theory that would make him available for Holland’s friendly with Turkey on November 17 and Bert van Marwijk, the Dutch national coach, is reportedly keen to call up Van Persie. But Wenger has other ideas.

“I think the Dutch coach has a good sense of humour,” he said. “There is no chance [of Van Persie playing against Turkey].

“He is a few weeks away [from fitness], I think three weeks so that means mid-November.”

  43. K-TR7 says:

Marouane Chamakh’s growing importance to the Arsenal team may have been overlooked by some but his efficiency has not gone unnoticed by Arsène Wenger.

The Moroccan striker has been thrust into the leading role in Arsenal’s attack by injuries to Robin van Persie and Nicklas Bendtner, and his manager has been impressed with the unassuming way Chamakh has gone about his business since moving from Bordeaux.

“He has a very quiet style but a very efficient one,” said Wenger.

“I believe his influence on the team has not been highlighted enough because if you look at his numbers it’s quite impressive what he has brought to the team.

“With Chamakh what is impressive above the numbers is his work rate for the team and his team attitude is absolutely fantastic.

“I like that he is quiet and doesn’t speak too much and that he works hard.”

  44. K-TR7 says:

I have never believed this but:
A German study indicates that, in his boots, Cristiano Ronaldo is the fastest elite player in the world, reaching an average speed of 33.6 kilometres per hour (20.88 mph), a quality he uses to full effect by blowing past defenders.

According to the study, Ronaldo supercedes Bayern Munich’s Arjen Robben (32.9 kph), Arsenal’s Theo Walcott (32.7 kph), Manchester United’s Wayne Rooney (32.6 kph) and Arsenal’s Robin Van Persie (32.1 kph). Barcelona’s Balon d’Or winner Lionel Messi did not rate amongst the top five fastest players.

  45. rico says:

Well, KT, what does this post say about my thoughts on Chamakh??

I think he is pretty darn good, we must not forget its his first season too, look how many seasons its taken some….

  46. agirlagunner says:

Hello, KT. Cesc is on your bench? RvP? Seriously? Oh, go on play Torres, he’s fantastic. 🙂 Well, we already know he looks good in red. Our no. 9 shirt is not taken, is it? He’ll slot right in. ;P

I hope Eduardo does not tomorrow decide to score, rico, oliver. I hope AA shows up. It won’t do to lose or draw before Sunday’s big one.

  47. rico says:

AA – he so frustrates me… actually, saddens me if i am honest, great player just playing badly, does he just miss Cesc??

  48. Red Arse says:

    KT,

I think the Germans are pulling your leg! Theo only 0.1 faster than fat boy Shrek? Pull the other one. 🙂

Although, hang on, was that running from Coleen, or running to a “lady of the night?” 🙂 If so, then maybe, Theo is a good boy! 🙂

  49. rico says:

RAC for me RA, afternoon to you 🙂

saying that, if you have one too many, i hear they are very very good, the AA I mean 😉

  50. rico says:

CR7 would have been just the player for us… 🙁 and to think we nearly signed him, he and chamakh could swap hair gels 🙂

  51. Red Arse says:

    Rico,

I thought only people who were hard of hearing went there.

Don’t they all go around saying “A? Whatdya say?” “A? Pardon, I heard that!” Hence the AA club! 🙂

  52. K-TR7 says:

Agag i held them nil nil at the Emirates but won 2 nil at the San siro.i had 2 chances and scored both through Milito but Arsenal wasted loads of chances.i had 39% possession in both games.

  53. rico says:

I’m off too for the day all, catch up tomorrow…

stay safe and enjoy the rest of your day…

    nighty night

  54. Rocastle says:

Hi rico, hi all. Good post, I’d probably take Rooney but a cheeky bid for torres and pepe would be higher on my list. But I’m not AW!!!

Has the lakuku(?) rumour gone quiet, my mate that’s into his euro football (yawn) reckons he’s English and whilegrain mustard…

  55. rico says:

Hi Rocastle, sorry to have missed you, not sureabout lakuku right now, read he’s valued at 17.5million and that ‘Arry’s willing to pay that for him….

watch this space i guess 😉
