Mountains of money in football but is it right?

Morning all,

I thought I would write something completely different for today after having a row with the Mrs!..

It was about starvation around the world, she was saying how bad the situation is in certain countries around the world and how she  how wrong this is , especially when we have multi billionaires like Abramovich, Usmanov, Kroenke and the Sheiks at Citeh.

They all have many yachts, cars and homes around the world and the only purpose they serve is to make more money, when obviously they have enough already.

I told that I understood what she was saying but said that, that wasn’t the fault of rich billionaires, they ‘earned’ their money and possessions.

The starvation is more to do with governments not sharing the countries in questioned wealth’s around fairly and I tried to say to her that you don’t see many government officials starving do you? No, they seem to be getting all the nourishment that they need and not all of these countries are short of natural reserves.  Many of these countries have oil reserves, gold mines, diamond and tin mines and coal resources to name just a few but their governments hoard these treasures while many of their people starve.

Every country has a leader, be it he or she government or dictator, tyrant or kings and queens but are they starving? The answer is nearly always no, they keep whatever comes in and keep their people uneducated and close their eyes to their peoples problems, well,  unless they are asking for financial help from wealthier countries from outside.

I don’t really know how aid is passed out to needy people in foreign countries but I would assume that the respective governments are be involved with distributing whatever aid out to the masses and I would imagine that they sort themselves out first.

I don’t like the idea of foreign billionaires buying the English Football Clubs and then running them as their business, even our own club is in foreign hands and that gets to me.

One hundred and twenty odd years, that is how long Arsenal football club has been in existence and now it hinges on how foreign owners see our future.

Obviously it is easier to buy history than it is to make it but we have now got to hope that these two billionaires are in it for our benefit and not like the starving countries leaders, who are in it for themselves.

I am asked everyday to donate to one or other needy charities, from save the children to sponsoring a donkey and it gets right up my nose. My own government taxes me to the hilt with income tax, poll tax,  fuel tax and VAT to name just a few.  At the same time they are donating many millions to needy causes around the world, whilst some our elderly die of the cold or seeing others still living in a cardboard box!

Kind of makes you wonder why the governments donate so much, when there are obviously needy people in our own country doesn’t it but that’s something else.

It’s not only in England either, there are many people are living in poverty in Russia, also the Middle East are having a tough time. America, well some of their states are having tough times too, New Orleans for one seemed to have to wait forever for the aid they needed after they had a disaster.

It strikes me that this is something which seems very new in football,  “mountains of money”, but where it is naturally needed the most has to rely on donations from people like us, especially when our taxes are being donated without our permission by our own wealthy government, it appears that starvation and wealth will never see eye to eye, yet football clubs will still be owned by whoever can afford them.

Whats your thoughts?

Gunners for ever, please Stan….

    Morning all

That’s one with a twist Steve, I hope Stan isn’t out to make more money out of us but…..

As for the other I guess the question has to be asked to ourselves, if we had mega money, would we donate masses to those who need it?

What have talkshite been saying goonster??

  2. Lee says:

TBH your own fault for listening to that absolute shit radio station Stanley….thought you’d learnt that by now!!

Arsenal target Kevin Grosskreutz has admitted he would welcome a big-money move to The Emirates.

Borussia Dortmund’s attacking midfielder, watched by Arsenal chief scout Steve Rowley as he scored the only goal against Olympiakos last Tuesday, is under contract until 2014.

But his agent Konstantin Liolios revealed that he had been made aware of interest from Arsene Wenger, while the 23-year old Germany international said: ‘If I do ever leave Dortmund, I would like to go to the Premier League in England, and my favourite club there is Arsenal.’

Don’t you just love the rumours………………

Arsene Wenger has launched another raid on the Bundesliga and is locked in a straight fight with Bayern Munich for £15million-rated Borussia Monchengladbach forward Marco Reus.

Acting on a tip-off from former Arsenal keeper Jens Lehmann, Wenger sounded out Borussia counterpart Lucien Favre to register his interest in the up-and-coming 22-year old, whose recent form has taken him into the senior Germany squad.

  7. Lee says:

Just got back from friends funeral who drowned last week .I took a load of abuse for my floral tribute in the shape of a lifejacket, but as I told everyone at the service, it’s what he would have wanted!

  8. rico says:

There is only one word that can’t be said goonster, that leaves you with a whole range left 😉

    Lee – thats a cheeky one….

  9. goonster says:

Lee you insensitive bastard! Why would you wanna do that? He drowned for pete’s sake! If I were him I ll come to life for a few minutes just to choke you to death with the life jacket. That ll learn ya.

  10. Micko says:

StevieP, what you doing rowing with the mrs, I suggest you make it up to her with a new iron or some oven gloves.

Politics is a blood sport in itself, you’ll never right all the wrongs in the world.

    news…
Inter forward by Van Persie back in January
The Italian press revealed on Wednesday that Inter will try to secure the signing of striker Robin Van Persie of Arsenal in January.
The “captain” of Arsenal just have another 18 months contract with the “gunners” and has shown openness to extend the contract.
In turn, the Inter striker looking to fill a finishing problems has revealed.

  12. Lee says:

I totally agree Rico, I hope he’s said to AW I want to see the club’s ambition, with some world class signings in the not too distant!!
As for inter, they are a shite team in a shite league why would he go there….?

  13. rico says:

Spot on Lee, and the league is corrupt….

Agree too on the signings, lets show some ambition and in jan, then all contracts sorted before the summer….

  14. Micko says:

Well the longer he leaves it rico the more speculation it will attract, if he still hasn’t signed an extension come the summer its gonna be a free for all, it will be mayhem, sound familiar ?
Come on robin, sign up, you know it makes sense.

  15. rico says:

I know Micko, rotten isn’t it but when will they get chance to sort it out, we are heading into the busiest part of the season? Unless RvP is waiting to see what happens in Jan…

Once it gets to the summer, I think i’ll start believing he’s off 🙁

  16. agirlagunner says:

Boo! Steve, I think much of foreign aid is siphoned off to unsanctioned uses; and makes the entire undertaking to a great deal pointless. As for foreign ownership of clubs, I can only imagine how galling it must be for you guys. At the same time, sustainability demands that freedom of investment be allowed. Perhaps introduction of legislation on foreign ownership limitations is key?

Hello, Lee, rico, Micko. I have every faith that Robin will stay put; provided that we buy quality in January. 🙂

  17. Micko says:

Hello agag, I hope your right, have you noticed that whenever wenger is questioned on the subject he gets shirty, more to it than meets the eye maybe.

  18. agirlagunner says:

Hey, Micko. 🙂 I imagine AW wants to keep it hush hush. We were trumped to Alvarez and Mata, from all accounts. I think he expresses an interest in a player, and just like that the moneybags snap said player up.

  19. agirlagunner says:

    rico has a castle!! 😉

goonster, where are you? Why, Mindanao? Are you sure??? It’s a hot spot, alright. A hot spot for Islamic insurgents, in the Philippines, that is. 😀 I should tell you about recent murders/mutilation in the area… but I shall stop. 😉 There are areas you should steer clear off though (Basilan, Tawi-Tawi, Jolo, North Cotabato recently, Sulu). I think you’d like Davao City, Cagayan de Oro, Camiguin, Siargao.

  20. Lee says:

Sounds spot on for Stanley….just add lots of alcohol!! Apparently he’s doing a twin centre holiday…Basilan & Tawi-Tawi!! 😆

  21. agirlagunner says:

    Micko and Lee 😆

I’m not sure people in Basilan and Tawi-Tawi will care too much for Goonster getting jiggy. 😀

  22. Joaquim Moreira says:

If Schneider goes to MU on January (Inter wants it now…) Inter has enoughf money for attacking RVP.
And don’t forget Inter position on Italian League now…

  23. stevepalmer1 says:

    Evening all,
Thanks for your comments, rico Agag and Micko, i know that the subject is not really right for a football blog, and your comments are probably right politics and sport don’t mix well but at the end of the day they always clash.

  24. stevepalmer1 says:

JM, no way would rvp be allowed to leave, with eighteen months left on his contract, we are almost a one man team at the moment and no way would Wenger entertain that. suicide comes to mind

  25. allezkev says:

Steve, i’d just start the argument, and bugger off… 😀
Hope you and the Mrs are friends again.. 😉

  26. agirlagunner says:

Steve, I hope the Missus isn’t reading. 😉 Boo, AK! Where’s that goonster? He’s going to an area known for armed conflict. Typical!!

  27. allezkev says:

Just been trying to find something on You-Tube of Kevin Grosskreutz, but it’s all a bit naff.
There was one clip of him missing in a penalty shoot-out.
Yep, we’re after the only German who misses pens..!
Mind you some of the clips had some real cool German rap… Right up Micks street i reckon…

Hey, hi Agag… Sounds like you have some really ‘interesting’ neighbourhoods.. 😉

  28. allezkev says:

Mick, you, having trouble with women..?
    Nah, i’m not believing that.
I’ve never yet met an Irisnman who couldn’t charm his way outta anything…

  29. stevepalmer1 says:

Cook the old one a big steak rico, and you may tempt him, that three bean soup must be getting him down

  30. rico says:

We are a veggie house Steve, not even the guinea pig eats meat 😉

    Steak, I wouldn’t even cook it……. 😉

  31. allezkev says:

    Bali looks nice agag.

Wenger looks to chasing a few Jerries.
I’d happily have a couple more in the squad.

  32. agirlagunner says:

You should go, AK. Bali is very cosmopolitan and chill and there’s plenty to do. Krabi is love. Oh and see Amanpulo, AK. I’m thinking of going… Some people need to be convinced. 😀

  33. agirlagunner says:

Haha, rico. Both about the steak and “I’m a Celebrity…” I’m more excited about the steak though. 😀

Good night, friends! Enjoy your dinner. 🙂

  34. allezkev says:

Rico, i have to confess, that i do dip in and dip out of ‘I’m a Celebrity’……
    I don’t think Steve will be impressed… 🙂

  35. Lee says:

Nah at home dodged the swampies…..at home in deepest darkest essex! I struggle with celebrity/strictly/x-factor stuff but the hand-brake loves em!!!! 🙂

  36. rico says:

AK, I love it, never used to but it’s winter, anything goes 😉

    Phew for that Lee….

Steve, me too – love a bit of Brucie 😉

  37. allezkev says:

Rico, Arsenal could still go for him.
    Match Chelsea’s bid.
Then see how much he wants to play for Arsenal.
Or if the money sways him….

  38. rico says:

AK, I think Wenger will – whether or not Cahill chooses us is a different matter but if he chooses money then we don’t want him anyway… Also, he’ll look a bit of a twurp having said it’s us he wants to play for….

But – who would want to play alongside a racist 😉

  39. rico says:

You got out of that well Lee 😉

I still think we need a creative player, def a goal scorer and Cahill or Samba 😉

  40. rico says:

And I am following you AK,

Nighty AK, Lee and Steve if you are still about, get a good nights sleep….

    Stay safe guys….

    Catch up tomorrow…..

  41. goonster says:

Evening good people….what did I miss? Hey kev get off my case. Agag, you don’t say? Islamic what! No way I ll be heading to phuket then thank you very much.

  42. allezkev says:
