The Arsenal faithful are desperate for some good news, Good news being that we have signed a couple of quality players to help us get into the top 3/4 places in the League.

It seems to me that we are scraping the barrel when other teams sign a player that was mentioned in the same sentence as us we’re all moaning about losing out on them.

Wanting quality players is one thing being desperate enough to want anyone is ridiculous. Is this what it has come to that we are clamoring for players that are signing for any old team in the League, we the fans, just like we ask of the Board need to set our sights higher. We want the club and the Board to buy quality so lets not get carried away when Joe Soap signs for whoever…! Perspective on why these players are not being signed by bigger clubs not just us?

Arsene might be right,  we cannot expect Arsenal to go out and buy new players every time we have a bad result, We’d have an extra 15 players by now if that was the case. Yes for sure we all need a big lift, the fans and the team. We need signings that can go straight into the team and add quality and make a difference. The finished article, players possibly with premier league experience or seasoned internationals. Arsene has 9 days to go, he has to get moving, or whoever is responsible for negotiations when money and contracts are being discussed. Arsene needs to concentrate on the team others who get paid to do so need to tie up the transfers.

The Walcott Saga cannot be used as an excuse for inertia anymore. For as welcome as Theo’s signing was, his signing doesn’t strengthen the squad. The squad remains as it was when we kicked off at Stoke RFU last August.

I’m not of the opinion that Arsene needs to buy 5 or 6 new players, he has never done that so we can’t expect him to do that now but we are also not that desperate either but he/we need probably two quality players who are winners fighters and bring a good mentality to the team/squad. Players who aren’t satisfied with their team mates doing just enough, but who want to see their team mates go above and beyond their best, game after game.

The kind of players that Arsene had many of, during his successful period. In his press conference yesterday he said we are looking to bring in two, lets hope so.

Being able to retain the British core of his squad was a great start to creating a squad that can once again seriously compete for honours.
So much of Wenger’s time and energy though has been wasted on too many players over the last six years, players who have not been worthy of an Arsenal shirt.
Only now can i see an improvement, both in terms of quality and character.
The question is, will Arsene be around to enjoy the fruits of his hard work with the currant talented youngsters?
I have my doubts…..

Enough of the future, Wenger and the Club need to do some serious transfer work for the present.
The EPL is gone, The Champions League is a fantasy, The League Cup is gone, Top-Four is a long long shot, very doubtful but not impossible…

We need to start by showing some intent tonight. The players have apparently had a big meeting with Arsene and he has told them yet again they must show belief in their talents and to show how good they are. Morale is low apparently, well stop sulking and earn your wages. I hope Arsene didn’t pamper them and actually told them they are letting him and themselves down. I few home truths should be told….. We also need to play for the full 90 mins not just one half of a football match.

We need to show the right attitude, roll our sleeves up get stuck in and then show we can compete with any team before playing our own game. We need the points tonight but we also need to show determination and the passion that has so been lacking of late. Lets get at West Ham and show Fat Sam we not a push over, we won’t let his team kick us off the park or get in our faces we will give as good as we get and more. Get the fans behind the team, show the effort and that will give the fans something to cheer about, one feeds off the other. We’re getting close to the point of no return, The team needs to show us what they are really made of and win tonight and push on from that over the next few months.

2005 was Arsenal’s last trophy. It’s been a long frustrating drought since that FA Cup success. If we can show the right attitude on the pitch we can make 3rd or 4th spot and maybe we can do well in the FA Cup. It would give everyone the boost we need and end the drought which would maybe prove to the team they are a good side and can win things when they work as a unit and as a team, Bradford showed them that last night and throughout  all the games they have played in the CC games.
It would be fitting if Wenger was to finally to end his trophyless torment by lifting that famous old cup?

Have a good day and here’s to a good win tonight
