And we have to be honest, they are not a bad bunch are they?

Ok, we didn’t add in the positions we all thought we should but that’s done and dusted until the 1st January 2013!

So today it’s Arsene Wenger’s tactics up against Brendan Rodgers, two very attacking mindsets.

Last season we just about huffed and puffed our way past Rodgers old side Swansea at home. We’d had a dreadful start to the season and the 3 points were most welcome that day.

After that day, we suffered two bad away days at Blackburn and Tottenham but both games would have been won had we not defended like a bunch of Sunday League players.

Two games into the season and no goals conceded and it appears that Bould and Banfield have had an immediate impact to the defensive side of our game, something which was long overdue but today will really show us how much we have improved, or not.

The attacking side to our game differs very little. We have had all theΒ possession as so often we do, we have created chances, but all that is missing is an end product. Let’s not forget who we have faced though, two sides with managers concentrate on closing us down and defending as if their life depended on it and both managers tactics worked, for them!

Today though will be different, we’ll be up against a side which will play a similar game to us, they’ll attack, attack and attack. A side who will allow us to do the same and if there was ever a fixture we needed it’s one like this. Just a shame it isn’t at The Emirates.

We need another rock solid defensive display and we may just come away from Anfield with something.

Statistics from the BBC:

Head-to-head

  • Liverpool have won just one of the last 10 league meetings between the two sides, although six of those ended in draws (W1, D6, L3).
  • The Reds are one short of 250 league goals against the Gunners.
  • The last seven league encounters have produced seven goals scored in the 90th minute or later.

Liverpool

  • The Reds have won one of their last six league games at Anfield (W1, D2, L3), with their only victory coming against Chelsea.
  • The last time Liverpool failed to win at least one of their opening three Premier League gamesΒ was in 2003.
  • If they lose on Sunday it will be their worst start to a league season since the 1962-63 campaign, when they took one point from their first three games.

Arsenal

  • The Gunners are only the third team to begin a Premier League season with back-to-back goalless draws.
  • The other two sides (Chelsea in 1995-96 and Derby in 1998-99) both scored in their third outing, so Arsenal will make Premier League history if they are involved in another stalemate.
  • The last time the Gunners drew three successive league games 0-0 was between January and February 2009, when they were involved in four successive goalless draws.
  • Arsene Wenger’s side have drawn five of their last six league games (W1, D5).
  • Arsenal have allowed the opposition just 10 shots at goal so far this season, fewer than any other Premier League side.

Laurent Koscielny returns to the squad for this game but SzczesnyΒ and Fabianski remain slight doubts. Our number one Pole has been having a few fitness tests over the weekend and like all of you no doubt, I really hope he is passed fit and able to play.

Mannone v’s Suarez is a bit of a worry. To say the least!

I’m not going to try and guess the starting eleven, I’ll leave that to the man who gets paid Β£7 million a year.

Lets just hope that whoever plays are in the mood to do so and we get something from this game.

0-0 at Anfield would normally be a good result but not today, we need to break our scoring duck and get 3 points…

Have a good day all….
