Morning all.

We are very disappointed, especially with the first half. We know we are better than that. So in that sense we are gutted.Β But these things happen in football and it is our responsibility to turn that around and we have great opportunity on Wednesday night.

When the first goal went early you have to respond and β€˜see out’ the next 10 or 15 minutes. We failed to do that and, credit to Liverpool, I thought they were brilliant and we were not up to scratch.

In the second half we knew we had to improve and I believe that we did that. So there are some mental positives today but we have to put it right on Wednesday.

Those are words from Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.

I guess he’s right in one sense, freak results like Saturdays are all part and parcel of football, especially when one entire team fails to show up and to be honest, that’s just what we did. It wasn’t a case of one or two not putting in a shift, it seemed to me, especially in the first half, everyone was still playing like they were still in bed waiting for the second alarm call to go off…

No excuses for Wednesday night though as we don’t kick-off until the evening, so there’s plenty of time to prepare both physically and mentally and be up for the challenge.

Mikel Arteta has also spoken:

It was like a car crash. The manager was really upset at half-time – that’s normal because it wasn’t good enough for this football club. It was the angriest I have seen him.

Good, I’m glad the manager was angry, he should be after a performance like that and now he has to use that anger and turn it into something positive.

We cannot afford another display like that this season.

It’s funny how just one defeat though turns us into a side which cannot compete any more. Just a few days ago we were top of the league and the media were saying we had a real chance to win the league, now though those same people have changed their mind.

At the end of the day we dropped 3 points and many of the clubs around us still have to face Liverpool at Anfield and they could easily suffer the same outcome.

No-one wrote Manchester City off when they were beaten at home by Chelsea, so there’s is no reason to believe we are out of this Premier League race just yet…

Respond well on Wednesday night and move on…..

That’s your lot for another day…..
