Morning all.
Well I wasn’t expecting that, certainly not the opening twenty minutes in which we simply blew Crystal Palace away with four quick goals. The best was the fourth one from Alexander Lacazette. The Frenchman could have had more, others could too but four was enough on the day against a Palace side which has been improving since Roy Hodgson took over. The first half was decent, the second half not as once again we reverted to looking like a group of players flung together at the last minute.
As anticipated the back pages are full of ‘Alexis Who?’ Idiots!
Anyway, he’s pretty much gone as expected and already it’s seems his imminent arrival is upsetting the Utd camp. Not so much in the player they are getting but the reported wages he’s to be earning. Other players such as Pogba are suggested to have looked at their own small salary and though, I want what he’s earning. To think that one man is set to earn just under half a million pounds in one week is hideous. It’s wrong imo, so very wrong. United, by doing this have set a very much unwanted trend in the English game I think, and the salaries footballers earn was already ridiculous. Still, if Alexis earning so much causes a rift in the Utd camp, then good, it’s no more than a club, one which Wenger says earns its own money to spend how they choose, deserves.
I’ve no idea what Mkhitaryan was earning at Man Utd, but I guess we’ll have to pay him an extra pound or two just to convince him that North London is the place to be. Just hope he earns it because the last thing we need is a player who’s only with us because he had no other choice. If I was him though, I’d be darn glad to get away from Mourinho, yes, even if it meant working for Arsene Wenger because at least at Arsenal there’s a chance a new guy could be at the club in eighteen months time if not sooner and my money is on the latter.
Jürgen Klopp has had a sly dig at Arsenal over selling Alexis to Utd and Walcott to Everton saying his mighty club would never sell to a Premier League rival. Not sure if he’s been watching Sterling at Man City! He has a point though, in an ideal world we wouldn’t have let Alexis go to Utd just as we wouldn’t have sold RvP to them a few years ago, or the many to City before then but that’s what happens when a club shows little ambition to win the big trophies and let’s better players contracts run into their final year. Just because the manager likes to let his run down every three years, it doesn’t mean the players should be allowed to do the same. Personally, I don’t expect that to be the case in future, not with the new appointments having been made.
As a club, we can’t change what’s been allowed to happen in the past but those responsible can sure as heck change what happens in the future.
I’m sad to see Alexis go but if there’s been any truth in the rumours that he caused a bit of a rift in the camp, not that pictures of the squad training would suggest that, then perhaps it’s better he’s going.
As Wath has always said time and time again, it’s not about who goes and he’s right and you never know, Mkhitaryan might just step back in time and be the player he was as Dortmund, rather than the player who was cast aside by Mourinho. If he does, we could be the club laughing for once. If Aubameyang joins him over the next few days then great, up front we should be very strong, certainly on paper anyway.
But as often has been the case over the last ten years, we’ll probably get to the end of the transfer window asking the same old questions.
Why hasn’t Wenger signed a proper defensive midfielder and a top notch central defender?
Actually, just a defensive midfielder would make heck of a difference right now because if he did his job well, the back four/five wouldn’t be left so exposed.
He might even get his precious top four spot then…
Finally, we’ll done to the Arsenal young guns who beat Liverpool 3-2 yesterday in the cup. Any Arsenal team which beats the Scousers is worth celebrating….
Morning rico, all. Yep sad he’s going, he’s been brilliant for us, but we move on. It’s 400-500K weekly salary, not monthly isn’t it?!!
Morning Andrew, oops, silly me, yes, it’s weekly..
It’s almost as much as Paul McCartney earns in an hour! Actually it’s an obscene amount of money, but at least half of his ‘earnings’ will end up in the tax man’s till! Perhaps his cash will pay for the rebuilding of Grenfell Tower! Mind you I believe he has given a load of cash to his home village for various needed social projects. So, some good of the mancunian dollar may find its way to the needy poor and be put to good use.
If Wenger, the aged one, can turn Micky Mouse’s head around after it has been desensitised by the dwarf, he too will have earned his pensioner’s corn! He’s got his work cut out there though, judging from the images I saw o him, reportedly in London yesterday evening. He looked sad and depressed. Still we’ll see.
Surprising result yesterday. I’m not getting my hopes up though, not yet! However, I’m delighted we have firmly landed ourselves the coveted sixth place! It’ll turn out to be like finishing fourth, just without the rewards! Another failed season, a bit like the last ten, or is it twelve?
Sleet has now turned to snow here, cold and not very prettying!
Morning all.
Is ‘prettying’ a word? My iPad thinks so…..’kin machine!
Oh and while I’m at it, Marco Silva has been sacked by Watford.
We have a manager who should be treated similarly but the board are inert or unconscious or drunk. Pro rive they are not. Ho hum.
Andrew, thats weekly, £505,000 per week. Ridiculous!
Also he’s a tight bastard, offering that student just £500 for sex and begrudgingly getting taken for £1000! Man Utd are welcome to the sulky bastard. Hope his gf cuts his balls off and feeds them to his dogs.
Rather happy about Mhiki joining. He was never a Utd/Jose type player. Think he’ll do very well for us, especially if Aubam arrives 🙂 they linked up well for a year or 2 already.
As for Klopp…. not even sure why he is commenting.
Wavy, isn’t his salary after tax?
Silva sacked? Go and get their defensive midfielder then, and Silva.. 😉
Good morning rico and all
So it’s a direct swap?. .no money involved?
what happened to the 20-35 millions extra we supposed to get?
Re the dressing room unrest with sanchez, i think coqualin came out and said the players had no issues with sanchez and he got well with everybody. And he is a class player etc….
I would rather believe him than the club spin mafia!
Anywho I am happy it’s over and we move
on.
Will we get PEA or anyone?..Two players in for January seems about enough business for wenger!
Morning Kk,
Media rubbish again I guess. The divide in the dressing room was about Utd’s, not ours for once… lol
Wambam, where’s all that stuff you write about Alexis come from? Doesn’t make sense to me as he doesn’t seem that kind of guy..
Morning Rico, there was enough there for three posts, good work.
I’m reading that his wages are going to be £350k pw, not sure if that’s gross or net tbh and in all honesty nobody really knows it’s just the press online looking for clicks.
Personally I couldn’t give a toss.
But then I am growing increasingly miserable.
You know what Rico, we’ve just swapped a geezer with only 6 months left on his contract, who was going to leave for nothing in the summer.
And got a decent player who had 30 months left on his deal, a guy who’ll be on lower wages who at 28 might just have a point to prove and who was a key member of a very impressive Dortmund team a couple of years ago.
So considering what a shitstorm it could have been I reckon we might have come out of this deal with our pride just about intact…
Morning Kev, i’ll split them next time, keep us going for three days.. 😉
Whatever he and many earn, it’s hideous. It’s about time someone put a stop to this silly wages stuff, although Wenger no doubt will be thinking that when other clubs collapse and go broke, Arsenal will be left standing strong…
A bit ike FFP really..
I don’t know why Wenger doesn’t get Diarra (spelling) for free. Give him a deal until the end of the season and then see what happens…
Interesting story, (well not really that interesting tbh) about Alexis paying some student for sex.
Apparently he paid this ‘student’ around £1,000 for sex, which made me wonder what subject she is studying at University?
Is she doing a BA or an MA in prostitution?
And are the immigration services aware of this?
Which Diarra is that Rico?
The one once signed Kev but sold on. Lasagna… 😉
I bet that Alexis story is rubbish.
Afternoon Rico and All
Can only think maureen never played
Mkhitaryan was because he never tracks
bac,……………Just what we need then.
Sanchez taking the Manc’s to
the cleaners for every penny is music to
my ear’s……Whats all the fuss about.
We got him we used him..
Hardly a london lad……Is He.
The only problem I have once again is
We have after the Judas transfer..
Gone back on our word and sold to them Arseholes.
Might Micky be Ozil’s natural successor, in the event that the marvellous Mesut moves to Manchester….too? For free!
Nothing is ever as simple as it seems there’s always a twist in the tail (tale) somewhere. We’ll see.
Still snowing here, big flakes!! About an inch’s worth and no sign of stopping or turning to rain. Yey!
Afternoon Fred, never fear, Wenger will soon have him tracking back and defending. We know what a disciplinarian he is….
Wenger was silly to make such promises as he must have known his hands were going to be tied this month, Alexis was going all along imo.
I reckon Ozil will stay Wavy…
I hope so too. We haven’t got many outstanding footballers at the Arsenal just now. Well, not in the first team squad anyhow, the U23s may prove to be a class above the current ordinaries, if they’re ever given the chance before they too get totally pissed off with the club, it’s coach and they’re progress!
One new signing does not a football team make!
Time will tell, he’s?
He’s = eh?
Afternoon all and thank you Rico.
Agree to some extent with Kev that we are coming out of trhis with a bit of pride considering being on a hiding to nothing, but we are losing the better player by a mile and as I said on the previous post only the addition of Aubangayangadingdong will make it a plus TW.
Rumours are that we are indeed trying to get PEA and I only take serious interest when the rumours of an Arsenal official are in another country when their is photographic evidence, seems like Gazidis is there in Dortmund !……………all great but we all know it will be down to the money at the end of the day and I wonder if Gazidis is under strict instructions from Wenger not to go above £50,000,001…………even though Gazidis is officially Wenger`s manager !.

And another !

Afternoon, has the Uber arrived yet, sorry Kev, I mean Auba… 😉
Not yet but the Totts lost points.
I saw, Southampton should have nicked it at the end..
Nice end to a weekend is when Spuds dont win.
🙂
Seems like Manshafter supporters think the Alexis arrival will be like a “Cantona” moment !…………….yes he is a great addition, but they aint going to catch CFG and will have to do a lot more to catch them whilst Pep is in charge of CFG in the coming seasons ( as will everyone else )………………….and not forgetting the bottomless pit of money CFG have !……………………..Pep and unlimited money = the recipe for success !
Can only see Pep going to PSG after this stint and then there will be no one else (currently) with that sort of money to allure him, so one of two things, he either retires or tries to turn a team with less money (cough Arsenal) into a trophy winning club, now that would be a challenge !……………………………
Also imo…………………….Pep to take on someone like us or even a lesser club and win trophies would then prove without doubt how great a footballing coach he really is as there is always going to be people (and I`m one of them to an extent) that think he can only do it with the money backing !
You really need to get over City, Pep and spending Lc. Lol
What does CFG stand for?
City Football Group……………………..which is the entire organisation with teams in other countries ………….New York City etc`……………………who who trying to take over the world dominence of football, I did put up an article about it a while back !
Do I sound bitter and twisted ?……………………….it could be worse, they could have bought The Spuds instead ! ……..hahaha
To be honest, Rico, if a club was to win everthing, Id rather it be them than most !
It will probably take a few years before they are allowed into my Inner Circle of Hate !
🙂
Current members of Inner Circle of Hate are…………Tottenham, Tottnumb, Spuds, White Hart Lane and any of their supporters, Manshafter Std, BinDippers, Chavs, Bayern Munich and Barcalona !
Anyone else have an Inner Circle of Hate ? ……………….hahaha
Ooops !!!……………forgot to put the obvious in !……………………………Kroenke and Wenger !………………hahaha
Actually, I dont hate Wenger, I`m just extremely disappointed with him !
As for Kroenke !……………………..a cucking funt of the highest order !
😆
It’s chicken and egg , Every league you look at in Europe if you compare money to success you will find the top managers gravitate there. . No money = no top manager . One off wonders like Ranieri at Leicester happen but next year the cycle gets broken the team gets poached and the manager gets sacked.
I get it now Lc, don’t agree btw… lol
Makes sense though Potter. Money and spending it on what a club needs to be competitive is what all top managers want.
We have the money, just not the manager willing to spend it. Instead he juggles players around to fill the gaping holes he’s left.
Rico,……..I`ve put too many bits up to know what bit you dont agree with !
😆
It`s the old cliche, Rico !……………………….we`re two players short !……………………..if he now gets PEA it will sound good, but he needs to also get the”two players short” aswell !………………….a top DM and a top CD !
We will only ever replace like for like, the dm bit got forgotten years ago.
All of it Lc. ?
Now I agree with that Lc, as said in the post… or at least a DM.
Night guys..
It seems that the Alexis/Mkhitaryan deal has been done and will be officially announced once work permit details for both players have been updated.
Yes, plenty will say that Alexis only moved for the money, but he was willing to sign a new deal with Arsenal 2 years ago but changed his mind after the Bayern 10-2 debarcle, and last summer he was off to ManCity without a problem, the only reason he didn’t was because, as usual, problems at our end with our pursuit of Lemar, a player we could and should have got at the beginning of the summer window and prior to the Neymar deal that affected everyone and still is…
This window I believe that Mourinho saw an opportunity and with ManCity running away with the League I think ManUtd went in big to hurt ManCity, give their own fans a morale boost and make a statement of intent. The money involved obviously turned Alexis’ head and obviously the head of his agent and maybe his large family.
I don’t think that Mourinho or ManUtd see Arsenal as a threat, that’s not to say that Mourinho won’t have enjoyed taking Sanchez from Wenger, but I feel it’s more to do with the power play between City and United.
If Arsenal had been more ambitious in the transfer market following the signings of a Ozil and Alexis, then both players I’m sure, would have extended their contracts ages ago.
The problem is and always remains at the door of Arsene Wenger, his lack of ambition and drive are the common theme running through all our recent big name departures, it isn’t just the money, that’s a convenient excuse for the Wenger apologists.
As a club we seem to learnt absolutely nothing from the departures of Fabregas, Nasri, Sagna and Van Persie.
Those Wenger apologists should ask themselves why, among the top English clubs, this only seems to happen to us?
Morning Kev, all.
Yep, Mourinho v Pep, only one winner there I reckon..
“I cannot understand anybody wanting to leave Arsenal,” Wenger.
I’m still in shock with this comment….
Err because you are finished as a top flight manager and we are in decline, try those to start with you clueless bell.
Kev, have you been reading my post for today?
I really don’t blame Sanchez wanting to leave after the 10-2 mauling.. it was humiliating..
for a big club like Arsenal to take hammerings like that and take them regularly is very damaging to Arsenal as a brand imo it would affect future sponsors etc.. no one wants to be associated with that.
How Wenger is still there is beyond me..
anyhow get PEA in with Mkhitaryan and do everything to sign Ozil and Jack up.. and go all out for the Europa league..
I chuckled at that Lee. What a numpty he is..
New post up now.
I wonder is the problem with signing Ozil up have anything to do with ozil will be earning more than Wenger? ?
