Good Morning Gooners….
Start with some really good news, almost as good as picking up 3 points at Anfield.
Arsene Wenger on Jack Wilshere:
I would still give him a month. But it looks very good. In a month he should be starting to play again.
There’s going to be a real fight for a place in the midfield then, let the cream rise to the top I say, competition can only be good.
Back to a match report I guess, no transfer gossip or false stories and certainly no false hope from Arsene Wenger, all that will no doubt kick off again in a few months.
Yesterday we headed off to Anfield, a fixture than many of us would look upon with fear and trepidation.
Anfield, the stadium steeped with great history and with a fan base full of voice which is louder than your worst noisy neighbour.
Just the one change was made from last weekends goalless draw at Stoke and that was Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain in for Gervinho. Contract rebel Theo Walcott warmed the bench again and despite the return to fitness, Laurent Kosceinly was left out in favour of Mertesacker.
All the talk prior to the game was would we score, and if so, who would get the goals?
Well we did and two of the new boys got off the mark….
Arsenal have always been in transition according to some, but yesterday we faced a side who really are going through changes. A change in manager, again and one which believed they could afford to offload their £35 Million signing from last summer.
Despite all that, Liverpool started well and Fabio Borini fired a shot narrowly over and Luis Suarez blasted a free-kick high.
Santi Cazorla had an early opportunity but was prevented from opening his scoring tally by Pepe Reina.
Daniel Agger saw his header from a corner go past the far post. He really should have done better….
Soon after that we started to find our feet, Diaby woke up and he went on to have one of his better games in a long while.
We finally got off the mark after a bit of a gaff by the Liverpool captain. Podolski, who had been pretty quiet so far, picked up the loose ball, played it to Santi and then carried on into the box. Perfect return ball at the right time from our old Spaniard and Podolski finished with style. 1-0.
Liverpool perked up a bit after the goal, Borini hooked a ball back into the area, Suarez won it in the air and eventually Sterling controlled the ball but his shot fired into the side netting.
Then Sterling took a fall after a great tackle by Mertesacker in the penalty area but Webb was having none of it and rightly so.
We then had a glorious chance to go into the break with a two goal lead after Diaby broke through the midfield with ease and played a perfect ball through to Giroud who was just eight yards out. His shot went wide of the post and it was clear just how disappointed the Frenchman was to have dragged his shot wide. It will come Olivier, be patient….
Suarez tried to ‘steal’ a penalty again early in the second half, but yet again, Webb was having none of it.
Soon after Gibbs unleashed a shot from the left but Reina saved.
Suarez then forced Mannone into a good save over the bar and Daniel Agger’s long-range effort came to nothing.
Jenkinson then tried his chance on goal, as did Cazorla, but neither troubled Reina.
Soon after, a second of our newbies found the back of the net. After exchanging passes with Podolski down left, Santi blasted a shot on goal. Reina made a bit of a mess of his judgement and the ball hit the back, catching the goalkeepers arm on the way through.
2-0 at Anfield, and yet I bet not one fan felt confident that the game was over…
But it was.
As much as Liverpool attacked at the end, they really struggled to get past our defence to get a goal, let alone two.
In fact, Giroud had the best opportunity, but his header went over the bar…
Liverpool brought on Stewart Downing and then Jonjo Shelvey but Downing certainly did little to justify his price tag. as much pressure as Liverpool tried to put on our defence, they had nothing to harm us.
A few last-ditch tackles were made by our defenders before the final whistle blew and Mannone made a good save from Shelvey right at the end of the game.
2-0 to The Arsenal – what a great afternoon had by all of us.
The only real concerns during the game was the early booking for Mertesacker and Arteta. Three substitutions were made, Aaron Ramsey, Andre Santos and Laurent Koscielny replaced Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Lukas Podolski and Thomas Vermaelen.
Yesterday the players worked together and for each other. No looking for just one man to steal the headlines, they stole those as a team.
I don’t do player ratings but if I did, I’d give the whole team a 10 out of 10
That includes Wenger, Bould, Banfield and anyone else who has contributed towards yesterdays result.
And for the man/woman who has got Diaby fit and playing so well – you get an 11!!
It’s the International break now, hopefully no injuries…
Have good day all……
Morning all,
Still chuffed at the team performance yesterday..
No injuries this next week please….
Back in a few hours, busy day for me…
Have a good one all…
All managed without Walcott!! So lets get him on a strikers crash course immediately with extra training and a goals bonus. its what he wants and that’l be good back up and competition for OG.
Sensational……..hat word says it all for me.
I loved every second of it,and sitting in Brisbanes Pig & Whiste Showed that amongst the pints…and there were plenty….and Scousers, there are plenty of true and passionate Gooners!!
What a night…what a weekend.
It will take me a month to recover.
Podolski not in german squad i heard, thats good. Hopefully cazorla not used either. RVP is playing well though so….off you go mate
On Jack…..our midfield is that strong,it gives us every opportunity to bring Jack back into the fold at a decent rate…a nice, slow build up wll hopefully have him firing on all cylinders towards the end of the season.
Nice Post, Rico, 🙂
Hi Guys, 🙂
Not an original comment, I am sure, but Stevie Bould may well turn out to be the ‘signing’ of the season.
You can see the tight defensive formations and patterns we are playing to this season, and the goals against column show how effective we have been. Brilliant!
As I said yesterday I was fairly confident about the game. Both the defense and midfield had been very good in the first two games and it was only a question of when the new look attack would start to produce.
We now go into a stupid fucking international break where we will be holding our breath as to who, if any, gets injured. Thankfully our first game after that is at home and against Southampton. Win that and I for one will be very very confident we will get at least 4 points out of the next two games.
Shitty was very bad against the bin dippers and Chelsky torn apart by AM, neither team has met a stiff opposition this season and come away with all the points.
mornin to u all gunners
Good report.am just so happy for Diaby,am a big fan and i hope he stays fit and gets even better.
Very good performance yesterday and definetly more to come from this team. I would like to single out Giroud, even though he still missed a couple of good chances he worked his socks off and helped pull defenders away for both goals, but did anyone notice Poldy’s reaction to one of the misses? what was that all about?
Good Morning Rico and fellow Gooners.
Our team has given us a great start to the week.
Scott — How’s your head this morning after what 8-9 pints?
red arse,
yeah i really like messing about with the ratios of how many goals put in by RVP last year and how many let in by us. it really does mean SB could be as you say. He was desperately needed. If we can do well again at the back against Chelsea it’l be an absolute tonic for a charge on the title.
raphael honigstein @honigstein
v.g. friend of mine had dinner with Arsene Wenger 2-3 years ago. asked him which player he rated most highly in his squad. answer: Diaby
Retweeted by Culann Davies
Fucking fantastic performance and if we can stay injury free for most parts we will challenge for trophy’s this season.
Good morning gunners, great post rico, i guess nuri sahin doesnt deserve a mention does he?
And Diaby’s performance was something else! If only he can stay injury free we have one hell of a player on our hands. Reminded me of Viera to be honest.
CG…its evening here now,but i did it REAL tough this morning.
All power to Diaby. I was over him and wanted him out. He came out at start of the season and said that he knew that this was his last chance and he had to prove himself and yesterday the comparisons to great midfielders were abundant.
Is Vermaelen back to his best…..bloody oath he is.
I am ordering my TV5 away shirt tonight!!
Or should i go my boy Podolski?
Santi is a chance.
Then there is DIABY!!!!!
Sahin was frankly a damp squib dudes, even the comentators had no time for him
Diaby needs to do this consistently now.
That performance was,dare i say it,world class.
It reminded us all why Wenger loves him and has given the guy so much tme.
More than anything,Wenger deserves Diaby to stay healthy.
I am still buzzing…..
Poldi and Cazora have excellent chemistry. The stats even show this;Podolski and Cazorla have exchanged 53 passes so far this season. Cazorla and Giroud: 17. Podolski and Giroud: four.
I just want to conmend the effort of steve bould and the whole team spirit Good job keep it up.
Thorny,i am glad Sahin did nothing, but he is a good player.
He’d look and play better in an Arsenal shirt 🙂
Arteta is really chuffed for Santi http://media.tumblr.com/tumblr_m9qobvHKIC1qca69q.jpg
KT,Cazorla and Podolski are just brilliant players……they are working brilliantly together.
What about Vito,guys?
He went about his work very well,i thought.
Everyone played well,obviously though.
And still the Liverpool fans can not accept that it is their favorite…..the king that totaly f’d them over! its incredible, he single handedly pulled the clubs pants down. “You’re the spurs of merseyside” is spot on. King Kenny..FFS!!!
Giroud is going much better than most think,in my opinion.
He will improve for the next few years,as well, amd become a top striker for us.
His soht last night was again the result of brilliant movement to find space, but i have seen the replay enough now to know full well that Reina had his angle asolutely perfect,so it wasn’t the “sitter” some have made out.
His “drought” is 3 games old,as well……time and patience will be very, very well rewarded.
With all the debate and talk of Diaby’s merits or lack thereof yesterday and this past week, I found the following quote on a Liverfool website. “With Abou Diaby slowly starting to dominate the midfield battle, Arsenal started to take control of proceedings and took a deserved lead on the half-hour mark.” Link to the full article below.
http://www.theanfieldopinion.com/2012/09/liverpool-0-2-arsenal-stylish-gunners.html
I have no idea of the quality of this website, but it is the opposition’s take on Diaby and the game.
Yessssssssss. What a feeling! Its funny how, arsenal hating radio talk show – ‘talkshite’ were struggling for a headline this morning.
I firmly believe based on our midfielders performances, they will walk into any of the so called top 3 teams’ midfield. Its funny seeing manure relying on a 37 year old to to dig them out of trouble. Also cCArrick doing his best impression of Denilson.
On another note, where did the match official find the 4 minutes injury time for manure against the saints match yesterday? Stoke wasted so much time last week against us but we only got 4 minutes injury time. Maybe its the conspiracy theorist in me!
DIABYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY….guess i am stil f**kin drunk
Agree scott, He did well to pull out a couple of extra seconds for cazorla to tee up the first, good dragging. also he is getting into some sweet spots and doesnt worry me. i do think its time for theo to join the strikers proper though. his pace up front with better control and finishing with supply from cazorla and Diaby with podolski steaming in from the left….we’l be wondering what we saw in fabregas. Loving the forward movemnt on the ball and passing on the run instead of static. suits theo. cazorlas close control is everything.
Was it 4-4-1-1 formation we saw from Le Prof yesterday? Is that a Plan B we just saw for tactical away games?
Morning all.
Great game from the lads, Diaby and BFG were immense, goals came and i slept like a baby last night. Oh the joy!
Dare I say it we have the best midfield in the league if Diaby plays that way.City struggled there last week but we were relatively comfortable.
There are several reasons why we are so good in midfield.Firstly, last season we had a trio of song/arteta/rambo for most part of the season. When teams like Dortmund pressed us neither of those players are as good as Diaby when it comes to dribbling out of tight areas. We would not be able to beat that high pressing and as a result we would struggle to create anything of note.Pool tried to press us high up but Diaby would twist/turn/dummy his way out and power up field into acres of space in behind the pool midfield.
In Arteta we have a player that is so disciplined and is fantastic in terms of positioning. That tackle on Suarez was my highlight. He sets the tempo from deep and is always open to a pass. His distribution is also top notch. He is absolutely fantastic in the ‘pirlo’ role for us and its working well.Lets just hope he stays injury free.
As a result Diaby/Arteta complement each other so well when you combine their attributes.Jack interestingly can beat pressure since he is quite a good dribbler and he can playmake like Arteta. He can therefore play with either player without disrupting the balance in midfield.
Cazorla is fantastic.Wenger smiles everytime he talks about him.The reason I think we played so well in MF yesterday was because we did not play a fluid MF.Unlike last season, our AM in Cazorla stayed high up the pitch and it helped alot when we were in transitions as it showed for Poldi’s goal.He did not drop deep since Diaby/Arteta are doing fine there.By staying high up our link up play in the final 3rd was much better. When they play more they’ll get better.
Hi scott.Having a structured midfield is also a major reason why we are so stable defensively. The fluid MF can be brilliant since its unpredictable but sometimes in defensive phase of play there is negligence in defensive responsibilty.Players work better when they have clearly defined roles. The fluid MF can work but needs alot of work.
Its very rare for someone(Cazorla) to score a goal and have an assist without being named as the MOTM. Watching Diaby yesterday was a pleasure. He is a beast. Hope he stays fit

Hey all,
Well, I am still waiting for TR7 to come and take the CMF role and that would put Santi out left, more in Don Iniesta’s role with Poldi/Giroud in middle. Santi does play little bit like Iniesta, doesn’t he?
Thanks for the links emma.Even Hansen on MOTD couldn’t fault our perfomance.
Hey all,

I waz so pleased by the team’s performance. Hop we create new strategies always 2 set us apart frm others. Diaby show cause for his continue luv frm Wenger. Hope he remain focus & do better.
With all the wailing and gnashing of teeth on here Friday and Saturday about our lack of buying as the transfer window closed, I found the following in an article about Santi Cazorla . “…Arsenal twice attempted to sign Yohan Cabaye from Newcastle before the transfer window’s closure but Wenger surely did not need the France playmaker.” Full article as follows;
http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/blog/2012/sep/02/santi-cazorla-arsenal
KT,i agree with you 100%.
I rarely attacked our back 4 last season, because i always felt they received little or no help from further up the pitch, and as a result, were just constantly under pressure.
Bould has no doubt had a positive influence already on the back 4,but also on the defensive mindset of the entire squad.
It does help when you have a workhorse like Podolski, and even Ox put in a good defensive shift.
Ive read a few so-so reports on Ox’s game…i thought he was excellent.
Each time he had the ball,he looked dangerous and had Liverpool on the back foot.
As i said a moment ago,he really worked hard in defence.
He is progressing beautifully.
S to S — If we can get all our midfield players fit and keep them fit, Arsene is going to have a real selection headache. Though a headache he might actually enjoy. The permutations are staggering.
CG….i would suggest the quality of that Liverpool site is very high, based on the quality of that article.
It was brilliantly written, and based on no emotion at all, which must have been hard for the author.
And Sagna scores his first ever goal for Arsenal!!
Cop that Chelski!
Sorry guys…watching a replay of 2007/08 match at SB!!
Diaby is coming on!!
This is great…even Almunia is having a ripper.?..til then!
Scott — I think Arsene is giving Ox experience at different positions to test his abilities and skills to see where he may best fit in positionally. We may be lucky and find he is truly a flexible player, anble to play multiple positions. I wont be surprised to see him playing centrally in the near future.
I loved the way Diaby dribbled his way out of very tight areas and powered up field opening up space for his teammates.Gnabry said Diaby was the most impressive player at the Germany camp and you can see it now since he has had a full preseason under his belt and is having a run of games.I’m so happy for him.
Agreed CG.
This is where Wenger is at is best.
KT..he was out of this world last night…i am not getting sick of saying it,either.
If we stay clear of injuries until Jan at least we are going to be fine. And yes S2S Santi does play abit like Iniesta. His willingness to drift wide to overload the flanks was also part of the reason why we dominated so well. You can see all the players love him already.
There is not a single team in the league that can dominate us in MF anymore. Also the tactics used by the mancs of sitting back and countering us will not work against us anymore.
ktr7 — Diaby was turning such tight circles, I was waiting for him to trip over himself or see those spindly legs of his bore into the turf like a corkscrew. Fantastic! Hopefully, as he plays more and blows the rust out, he’ll learn to make the pass forward more quickly. Both of our goals yesterday. especially the first, resulted from a handful of quick decisive passes forward.
I am as excited as anyone, but it is only ne game guys….let us not tempt fate and look too far into the future.
If is still a big word when it comes to Diaby.
Fingers crossed, because he really could have a massive influence on our future.
Scott — As you say, it is only one game. However, after a disappointing and painful close to the transfer window, let us savour it for a few days. Also, let’s try to stay positive and get behind the team. The one thing I have always admired about Portsmouth is their fans unflagging support for their team.
If you caught allezkev’s postings last night, he was saying the away fans sang for the whole 90+ minutes.
Diaby was a beast yesterday. He has one weakness in his game and that is that sometimes he moves slowly with the ball when he is looking for an option or deciding what to do and can get caught from behind and surrender possession. I only saw this happen once yesterday where often it happens 4-5 times a game, and for me he is better when he keeps the pace of his game at a higher tempo. If he can iron getting caught on the ball out we have some player back, the player we all thought we were getting when we bought him. I can even go along with the classic Wengerism of him being like a new signing because on yesterdays performance he surely is like a new signing. If he turns out performances like that yesterday even the most dedicated Diaby detractors will surely be happy to swallow their pride and admit that AW was right about him all along.
We don’t get MOTD over here. Did our game get much mention or was it preoccupied with ‘He’ who shall not be named’s hat trick for the one man team ManUre?
Very encouraging performance, especially from Diaby. He was a beast in midfield and hopefully there will be more to come from him. But please, let’s not overreact with this win. Liverpool to me are not a solid test for title credentials. I was looking forward to this match because I knew we had just as much a chance of beating them as they beating us. Unlike the Stokes and Sunderlands, they attack us and give us space, that is where we thrive.
On another note:
“Yesterday the players worked together and for each other. No looking for just one man to steal the headlines, they stole those as a team.”
I hate Van Persie as much as the next gooner, he showed his true colours and revealed to us that he is a traitorous bastard. But are subliminal shots necessary? Nobody was complaining when he was banging in goals for us every week last season and basically got us to a 3rd place finish. And it certainly was not his fault that he had to shoulder the weight of scoring the majority of our goals.
A turncoat he may be but we would not have finished in the position we did last season if not for him so respect where it’s due to the bastard.
Believe me CG,i am not one to take a negative approach to anything.
It’s too much to ask of the guy right now to carry that form through the season, and i hope Wenger gives him some little spells from time to time to give him every chance.
Small steps is all i am suggesting.
Though that was one big bloody leap yesterday!!!
I get ESPN soccernet pass….something like that.
Even Steve Nichol was raving about our performance, and that is saying something.
LSG…Liverpool should have beaten Citeh last week…..i think they are a reasonable guide as to how we are going.
morning all…good game against liverpool.
Liverpool are now a mid/upper table club, just because they almost beat City or should have doesnt really mean much. I think they thrashed City last season either in the league or Carling Cup and they still finished 8th.
When we get a result against City, Utd or Chelsea then I will start to get my hopes up.
Scott — My comments @11:37 were not aimed ay you, but were general statements for the collective Goonerdom. No personal slight was intended mate. MY bad.
I still think we are 1 striker option short in the squad, for back up to Giroud and to have another option from the bench later in games. With the window shut now I would still go for Owen on a seasons contract for this role, but I wouldn’t bet against him going back to Liverpool as their need is greater than ours.
Go for Owen? I think we have enough players made of glass as is. Owen is just another injury waiting to happen, he can’t stay fit for the life of me. I say we either use Walcott up front where he prefers to play or we get someone from the youth squad.
You may be right LSG but Owen is still an experienced box predator and I feel we lack one of them in the squad as an option. Certainly there were likely better options when the transfer window was open but it isn’t now and I feel it could be one area AW has left us slightly short in. Walcott may come good through the middle but he doesn’t yet have those predatory instincts that Owen does and ditto someone from the youth ranks. Think about the Sunderland game with 10-15 mins to go. Owen is the sort of player you could get out there literally hanging around the box who could take that one opportunity that often comes and goes begging in the last 10 mins. If that happens 3 times in a season and results in a win rather than a draw that is a 6 point gain we otherwise wouldn’t have had. How critical could those games look by the end of the season? Also what is there to lose. Put him on 25k pw with a clause that if he is unable to play due to injury it drops down to 10kpw. That is peanuts to Arsenal. Similarly if we find we didn’t really need him after all then no big deal either. For me though a player like him just gives us a safety net. I would rather see him at us and then not utilised than not with us and finding we needed someone like him at 3-4 critical moments in the season. For me he is almost an ideal option as a back up player for one season and we can then analyse where we are with Theo and players like Joel campbell and Afobe at the end of the season.
I have had too many late late nights and early mornings this last few days. So, good night to Scott and a good day to the rest of my fellow Gooners. Till tomorrow.
Great result, cazorla, diaby, Arteta superb! And now I’m going to work today a good mood 🙂 but its only 1 game guys/girls… and im trying not to get carried away…. 🙂 its hard tho lol

Cazorla is like a cross between Cesc Fabregas & Anders Limpar. whereas Paul Scholes is the afterbirth of Billy Bremner!
Anyone notice Song busting a gut to get back for Barca last night when he was caught out of position? Wonder how long that will last!

so many reasons to be cheerful for today…love it
Hello al. Great win yesterday
It was an efficient game plan perfectly executed. We’ve got an outstanding defence now with plenty of varity thanks to Bould’s work. Merts is playing his best games for arsenal at the moment.Verm paying captains play and gibbs fastly growing as an elite leftback. Kos has to wait or content with rb atm imho.
So glad to see Podolski scoring. That’s the guy who won the Best young player Award of Worldcup ahead of Messi and Ronaldo.. But it’s the team as u said that baught us the win,
Robbie Savage is a plonker….
Arshavin being dropped from the Russian team !! that might
give him a kick in the butts to get his act right
Reasons to be cheerfull…
The growing maturity of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.
A key componant in yesterdays result.

how Savage
can be a pundit ,is beyond me…..headless chicken
hak – not sure when the russian tw closes, could be a couple of days yet, same with the french i think, but don’t quote me on that.
re the PL squad, not sure on that either, thought they would have been in very soon after this tw closed.
bloomin annoying that the WC qualifiers have come along so soon…
Rico – french TW closes tomorrow mid-night
Russian on next thursady the 6th
still big chance for those three to go off …

hi Emma
one of the reasons AW didn’t buy someone there i think..having Jck
back fit and healthy will be huge huge uplift to us.
we might see him back in 4 weeks time…..great
haz – u re right. There was no need getting sahin when JW10 is coming back.
Thanks hak…. still hope for Squilli then 😉
I reckon you guys are right about Jack/Sahin and I know who’d I would rather have playing in red and white….
Emma – re Sahin..will be wondering what the hell he’s done to join
loserfool instead of us….he’s seen yesterday clearly
Hakzah, to be fair to Sahin, I think Arsenal was his prime choice.
But malignant Mourinho made sure Arsene didn’t get him.
Also AFC wanted the option to make the loan into a permanant transfer.
Real wouldn’t have minded about that kind of deal, but malignant Mourinho wouldn’t take the risk.
He knows how AW can improve players!
In b/w Song played very well for Barca yesterday like his life depend on it.
I pray JW10 comes back stronger and better
More reasons to be cheerfull…
A strong bench, that’ll get even stronger over the next 3 or 4 weeks as Jack, TR07, Sagna, Frimpong, return to full fitness.
International Break/Yawn permitting.
Devil Gunner is back from Nth Italy on the 6th btw.
Hey Rico,
How are u?
Btw hav nedia started calling Man U Van United or VanMan Utd yet?
Oh and anyone with news on TR7?
Reasons to be grumpy, there’s only one L in cheerful.
S-to-S
Tomas Rosicky (Tendon)
Last Updated: 17 August
Speaking on August 17, Arsene Wenger said: “They are all doing well but of course they are not available tomorrow. They are all good news though. Rosicky is running. They should all be available soon. It is more or less a month for all of them to start training properly.”
Ak, Rodgers must be top of the bookies favs to get the sack 😉
Good thanks S2S, you?
Ha ha Micko, 2 goals in our victory though….
Thanks re devil Ak, that’s one long holiday…..
Btw housers, i would suggest any Londoner to go and see our U21 play. They play amazing. When ever I have seen highlights of them playing I have got goosebumps. Really recommended.
Thanks Emma.
I really hope to see Rosicky back. I really think this season he’d decide what we’d win. Oh and Diaby too. Well at least Adam and I always said in chinese calender this year will be called Diaby year and if anything happens to him then Aneke or Le Coq are ready to step up.
Rico, I am good too. Thanks.
5 matches in the last two September weeks. Hope nothing happens in this break.
Meireles (Chelsea) sign to Fenerbache.
Squil, chamack and AA can go in this week.
In that way (or not) we must go to the market on January. Our team is very short.
Hi rico,
Kev, Canadian Gooner mentioned the away fans at 11.37, they’re a different breed aren’t they, the comradery is something special, very different atmosphere to a home game, its like being in your own little tribe.
Mickk, yourr bleedinn rightt.
Mee dimm.
rico, even if Jack came back tomorrow it would take him a good 4-6 weeks to get fully match fit again, he’s been out for so long, if we can keep our midfield injury we’ll be in a great position.
Just hope Diaby doesn’t have a relapse, we know how much he likes a bed-bath.
Yeah, that’s true Mick.
Maybe it’s something to do with being in the minority, or when you’re away you don’t simply expect a win…
At The Grove, a win is a given, or that’s the expectations.
Also there has been a gradual gentrification (hope that’s right Mick 😉 ) or the home fans.
Whilst the away fans are all mad.
That’s why I feel at home, away!
Us versus the world mentality, just have to watch yourself afterwards, always someone looking for a bit of aggro, mind ya you wouldn’t have had that problem yesterday, most of the scousers were sneaking out with 10 minutes to go.
Giroud’s movement was fantastic yesterday.for the 1st goal he dragged away the pool CBs with that decoy run allowing poldi to run into the area.his movement for the chance diaby created for him was excellent too.there were several others but i’m confident he’ll come good.
KT, I still think we have a bit more to come from Giroud, he doesn’t look fully match fit to me, seems to be a yard off the pace at times, I can’t knock his heart and effort though, I maybe being a little bit harsh as I haven’t seen him live yet just on the box, the goals will come, he’s getting in the right positions, it’s just a matter of time, watch out Southampton.
It’s like anywhere ya go Mick, if you want trouble, it will always find you.
Yesterday I went into a pub outside the ground with my mate Neal.
Some old gaff called Arkles, a right old dump.
Full of Gooners, well tanked up and singing some quite Scouser-baiting songs.
I’m sure you know the ones…
So I said to me mate, let’s have a drink in the ground.
And in there it was far safer and they’ll be stuff on YouTube of all the Arsenal mob singing I suppose.
There was a guy with an iPad recording it…
Plus lots of stuff on phones etc…
Just as well Stan wasn’t there…..
KT, someone on here yesterday, could have been Rico, compared Giroud to Alan Smith.
Gotta say that that is a great comparison…
Giroud is a very intelligent footballer, a selfless team player and a great leader of the line.
I’m a fan
Too true kev, just like Tottenham away, better off going straight into the ground for a drink up, much safer and it’s like one big party inside, whats your take on Giroud, you’ve seen him in the flesh.
Great game from Diaby. It sucks that the strength of his game are the same things that lead to him getting injured so often. His silkiness is going to cause him to draw more than his fair share of over aggressive, mis-timed tackles. Fingers crossed that he stays for the whole season.
Giroud will be fine. He has goals in him. He just need a little bit composure and relax to take his chances. I believe he is trying too hard

I lost my internet connection 🙁
Looks like Kolo might be joining up with his old mate Eboue if Galatasaray can strike a deal with Citeh.
Evening all nice one Rico,
as usual not much in the papers about our tremendous win away from home, shame Andy Carrol was somewhere else as thats all the papers and media seem to want to talk about. Lucky we have blogs like this to read about our fine club, Wenger’s name seems to stick in the throats of so called experts and pundits, the tv only seem to show him when he throws a bottle or he moans about a vicious tackle but do we care NO they will have to take notice soon as this Arsenal team is not going away.
Sorry Mick, work can get in the way of my blogging sometimes. It’s a bloody nuisance.
Yeah, I echo Emma’s comments about Giroud, I really like him and think he’s gonna be a big player for us in the years ahead.
Once he’s adapted to English referee’s, that is, accepting that English refs couldn’t see a foul if it hit them in the face. Once he realises it’s a free-for-all, then he’ll be fine…
I actually thought that Howard Webb had a decent game at Anfield.
I can think of a few homer-refs that could and would have given Liddlepool one and possibly two pens.
Of course neither were penalties, but then again, when has the validity of the penalty been an issue when the Spion Kop has been screaming for one?!!!
wenger on diaby
I was worried about him highly but I always stood behind him because not only is he a fantastic football player but a fantastic guy as well. Let’s hope he survives the break because the national team travel a lot, play two games in four days and let’s hope he comes back in good shape.
There are very few high-profile managers who back their players when there isnt a reason too.
Boo, finally, I think the connection is back 🙁
On off on off….grrrrrr

Cazorla is as good as Cesc from what I’ve seen so far and Savage well that scouse drag queen was a shit footballer at his prime!!! 😉

rico – sadly AA will be with us. ;(
me not sad.. good for some games and when cazorla rests.
Squillaci has 1 more season left in his contract. If we can’t offload him now then hopefully he should be gone after this season
Paying for nothing is still a fun emma. plus he is acting as a ‘Father figure’ to Mertesacker..
emma – you never know, AA might get a second wind and when he gets a chance, he takes it….
I’m offski for the day guys and gals, been a bit of a ‘one’….
Stay safe all…
Night night
Arshavin could be a usefull option in the cups and the odd CL game.
You can never have too many good players and I’m sure that he could do a job in Santi’s position if and when Wenger gives our genius a breather.
As for Squillaci, just give him a free. Get rid…
Get his wages off of the clubs books.
Chamakh? Who knows?? With RIP gone, he might rediscover the form he initially had when he first joined?!
Then again, maybe he won’t……
Not as busy on here as usual…
Could it be that there is nothing to moan about?!!! 🙂
Goodnight Gooners…
Wakey wakey.
Where are you all??
Morning Scott and all…
New post up
